Shopping
Middlebrook Retail & Leisure Park is a sprawling complex that offers a wide array of entertainment and shopping options. With over 60 retailers, it boasts high street shops, restaurants, a cinema with 12 screens, and a bowling alley. The iconic Macron Stadium is at the heart of this integrated development, along with the impressive Bolton Spirit of Sport sculpture at its principal entrance. Additionally, Middlebrook Leisure Centre provides top-notch fitness facilities and classes for all levels.
First time I had a proper look at this retail park. And I have to say I was a little impressed. All the shops here are the larger version. Not the dinky ones you see at the high street. No, these are the big ones. And I like that. If you're looking for a time to go shopping, I'd say to go here. Also plenty of places to choose from to eat. More than enough parking places too.
Paul B — Google review
A great place to shop, eat and go to the cinema. It also has an arcade which is great. There are lots and lots of shops. A great place for a great day out. The only thing I don't like about this place is the carpark. The spaces are so tight to get out of if you have done front face parking instead of reverse parking.
A Y — Google review
Lots of places to shop. Plenty of places it eat with a great selection of restaurants. For those who want to watch a movie there's a 12 screen Vue cinema with luxury seating as standard & a Hollywood bowling alley. Enjoyed my very first 5 guys burger whilst I was there.
Chris S — Google review
This place is the largest around Horwich and Bolton. TKMakk, M&S, Asda, Decathlon and a lot more famous stores are in this gigantic retail park. Up to 6 hours free parking during week days.
Johnathan P — Google review
It was my first time visiting this Place with family yesterday. We came to Vue Cinema, and we were so impressed to found the shops opportunities and places to eat that are there, wow massive. The children really enjoyed it, a great Places to socialised , we can't wait to go back there again 😀
Mwangaza R — Google review
Loads of parking, good variety of shops and decent sizes. Quite a few food outlets and CT a cinema.
Ma H — Google review
Awful parking and traffic management systems in and around the retail park. Good luck trying to park anywhere on match day and if you do happen to get a space then I pray you drive a Renault Twizzy or a smart car so you can actually get out without damaging your car doors. Some decent stores and brands but unfortunately not a place I would like to visit again to do any serious shopping.
Andy C — Google review
Yes, lots of shops but don't go on a match day unless you want to be stuck in a gridlock for 2 hours. There's plenty of other branches of Boots.

Modern arena for local sports teams, plus varied entertainment, leisure and business facilities.
Wonderful asset to the local community in the North West which deserves to host Premier League Football again as soon as possible. Great hotel attached as well. Loads of parking and convenient for so many destinations. Thoroughly recommended!
Johnlg — Google review
visited as an away fan, mostly pleasant experience, quick to get in and out, queue at the kiosk was quick compared to other grounds. food options are a bit poor and not amazing compared to previous visits, the stadium itself is a bit of a car park but seats had plenty of space and comfortable (not that we used them much) big plus and final bonus is for the programme seller who takes card payments, legend!
Gavin T — Google review
1st visit to the toughsheet Community Stadium. £8 for parking for the match and there is loads of parking spaces. You pay at the machine on leaving. The fan zone is brilliant, lots of street food, bars and toilets. A big screen playing football match was great before going in to the stadium. Staff at the ticket office very helpful and the football shop very busy. The stadium very easy to get around. We had seats in the upper north stand. Great view of the pitch. Great atmosphere from the Bolton supporters, plenty of singing. Unfortunately we only got to see Bolton play for 29 minutes before there was a medical emergency.
Daniel W — Google review
I visited as a disabled away fan and wow I have to say so far the best I’ve experienced. When we arrived the staff & stewards were so friendly and helpful from showing us where the accessible toilets were showing where to get food and drinks and finally showing us where we would be during the match. At most grounds I’ve visited there are normally stewards stood in the way through the game or at key moments but not at Bolton. The stewards stood off to the side so they didn’t get in the way. I think a lot of clubs and stadiums should look at how Bolton run a match day as they should get praised for the good work.
Chris E — Google review
Great view of the pitch, easy access to stadium and a good atmosphere.
Philip L — Google review
What is the point in producing a match programme and then not sell it around the ground? I was told it's on sale in the club shop. There's no way I sas gonna queue in torrential rain for that. Probs a trick to get fans into the shop?
Matthew R — Google review
Family day out watching Bolton thrash Wigan! Ground well looked after, easy to find your way around. Toilets are clean and dryers work.. always a bonus. Beer at half time, nice and cold, not sure about the cups though, filled from the bottom they tend to leak a lot!
Hector R — Google review
Went today, no not for football. They have and antiques and collectors fair. It was very busy with lots of stalls, something for everyone, except me. I came away empty handed. The Mrs didn't fair much better and only picked up a book. It's well worth a visit.

Hollywood Bowl Bolton is a modern bowling alley with 26 fully computerized ten-pin lanes, an on-site bar and diner, and a dedicated games area with an arcade. Visitors can enjoy a clean and fresh environment with friendly and attentive staff. The facility also offers pool tables and arcades for added entertainment. Customers have the option to wear their own shoes as long as they are flat-soled, but bowling shoes are available if needed.
Had a great time, nice little arcade too! The staff were all polite and they let us get started even though we were early! Thanks guys! We ended up having 3 games 🎉 It's also a little bit cheaper if you book online.

Brilliant! The very best of times indeed, we used the VIP area for an extra £4 and enjoyed some light drinks with a couple of games of bowling before hitting the game machines hoping for 1000s of tickets😝 look forward to coming back as it's been a while since the last visit, all the staff was helpful and amazing so that always wins with me when your custom is welcomed and appreciated so thankyou again all to the team at Hollywood bowl of bolton
David H — Google review
Overall the experience was great. Booked online, we was a little early so spent some time in the arcades before going for our games. When we were ready we went to the desk to get set up for our bowling games, even though we were still early they were able to accommodate us. No one offered to help us set up, luckily we didn’t need it. Ordered drinks via the qr code on the lane and these were great. ( Banana milkshake and a tango) speed of service was great. The lane was extremely clean and was ready to be used. The choice of bowling balls available was great. After being in the arcades for a bit longer. We fancied another game after our already paid for games. Went back to the desk and paid for another game. The system was down but that was no hassle for the guy in the desk got us set up and on a lane. We had an issue with the lane as the bumper didn’t go down, called the service team and her approach was cocky and as though she didn’t want to be there. We ended up solving the issue ourselves. Overall a great experience and we will return.
Jena M — Google review
Came here for my birthday in the VIP Section of the Bowling and absolutely loved it. Even the customisation and different options on the bowling screen was exciting to mess around with before and during our games. The bowling balls have great design and the lanes are all lit up and it really gets you excited for the game - I loved it here. Highly recommend.
Will R — Google review
Nice clean place for fair price entertainment. My kids really enjoyed themselves. Lots to do from pool, arcades and obviously bowling. I did drop one star due to standing at the unattended bar for over 15 minutes. I wouldn't imagine a licenced bar should be left unsupervised anyways and could result in loss of stock or damage. Overall good venue and we will be back
M B — Google review
We had the VIP lane, 2 games and a drink first £12.50 each, good value in my opinion. It was a hot day, the air-conditioning was not positioned near our lane so it was a bit uncomfortable but manageable.
Vicky S — Google review
Luke and Matt who was working on the bar really made our evening top class they seem to work together really well best service I’ve ever received at Hollywood bowl!! Also I don’t know his name but the fella with the long black hair was really great as well!!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit we took our grandchildren 12 ..15 Yr old and we thought it was spacious airy and comfortable much better than other bowling alleys we've visited..we all unanimously thought it was the best and we will return..would have give 5stars but we never had any food !!

Farm
Smithills Open Farm, located in the picturesque Smithills Country Park, has been a beloved destination for families in Bolton and beyond. The farm offers a wide range of animal encounters, from horses and sheep to reptiles and alpacas. Visitors can also enjoy the petting corner where they can interact with rabbits, guinea pigs, and chicks. This hands-on experience not only provides animal therapy but also offers educational opportunities for both children and adults.
We are tourists visiting the area, and we had a wonderful time at Smithills Open Farm! The atmosphere was fantastic, and everyone was so kind and friendly. A special mention goes to the gentleman driving the tractor ride – he was incredibly cheerful and friendly, and made the experience even more fun. There are many different animals to see, and lots of fun activities for both kids and adults. We took part in several of the attractions and enjoyed every minute of it. The only thing we didn’t like was seeing the owls kept in very small cages, and the calves separated from their mothers, which made us a bit sad. We also noticed a sense of sadness in the eyes of the cows being milked, which was quite touching. Additionally, we believe that very young children should not be allowed to hold the animals on their own. It would be better if they could simply touch them gently under the supervision of a farm staff member, as small children often don’t yet have the awareness to handle animals carefully, and may unintentionally cause them harm. We highly recommend this place to families and tourists – it’s a great day out!

We visited Smithy Open Farm last month as a family, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The farm is well-kept and full of charm, and the animals are all very gentle and friendly — perfect for children to interact with. From calves and lambs to many other farm animals, you can really enjoy close-up encounters and even watch the process of milk production, which was fascinating to see. There are plenty of activities for children and families, and feeding the animals is made easy with affordable feed available on-site. It’s both fun and educational, giving kids the chance to experience farm life in an authentic and enjoyable way. One of the highlights for us was trying the farm’s own freshly made yogurt — it was absolutely delicious and highly recommended! Overall, it’s a fantastic place for a family day out, especially with young children. Warm atmosphere, well-cared-for animals, and plenty to see and do — we’ll definitely be coming back again.
Kris — Google review
We visited Smithills Open Farm during the school holidays with the kids, and it was such a fantastic day out! The highlight was seeing the full process of how cows are milked and how the milk is stored — really fascinating and educational. The children loved getting hands-on, feeding the cows and other farm animals, and learning more about farm life. There are so many activities for kids, and it’s a great balance of fun and education. The staff were friendly and made the experience engaging for both children and adults. Overall, a brilliant day out for families — highly recommend!

Really enjoyable family day out. Lots available for small children, from donkey and tractor rides to feeding the cows and other farm animals. Also being able to interact and hold baby lambs, baby goats, Emu's, Rabbits and chicks in pets corner. The specific animal based talks were really informative and the kids had chance to get a photo which was great. There are also a selection of parks for the children to enjoy and multiple shops were you can grab a coffee and locally produced ice cream which was delicious.
Jay C — Google review
Love this place, but if something for all of us. Getting so close to the cows isn't something kids from the city get to do that often and it's great. Staff seem to love their jobs and It does make it extra enjoyable. Some of the other local farms are good for an hour or two but we regularly spend 4-5 hours here
Gareth — Google review
Every single member of staff we encountered made this day super special! They were so warm and welcoming, all made an effort to educate us on the animals and help us to get as much from the experience as possible. We loved it! P.s we’re still dreaming about the ice cream!
Anita S — Google review
We brought our 9 month old granddaughter for her first visit to a farm and we all absolutely loved it. Even for a baby there is so much to do. She was obsessed with the mini horses and the donkeys ❤️ She was fighting sleep at the end so we couldn't go to meet the animals but we certainly will be doing on our next visit. The tractor ride to the donkeys made her day 🥰 Thank you all for making our first Grandparent day the best ever ❤️

Flea & Street Markets
Bolton Market, situated on Ashburner Street in the heart of the town center, is a bustling enclosed market offering a wide variety of goods. With over 300 stalls both indoors and outdoors, visitors can find everything from fresh produce and meats to fashion items and home goods. The market's Victorian iron and glass building, which underwent restoration in the 1980s and 2000s, is an impressive sight with its cathedral-like proportions.
My favourite place in the market is La Petite Fromagerie. They sell a wide range of cheeses and chutneys etc. Caitlin and Suzy are very helpful. Recently they did a fantastic selection of cheeses for us for a party. They made us labels for every cheese which was so helpful. If cheese isn't your thing then try the sourdough bread - it's the best that I have ever tasted.

Great choice of food( when the vendors) stay open. We've been twice now and found that going late afternoon is better than in the evening. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food market needs the backing of the local people to succeed

There are many seafood, vegetables available at Bolton Market. There are one lifestyle food court with some stalls and another new foodhall with 9 stalls selling international cuisine opened eight months ago, you can check Bolton Market Food Hall for details. It is recommended to have lunch or tea before or after shopping.

Lots of meat, fist and different kinds of vegetables available. Most of the vegetables are fresh and nice. You may get bargain and deals sometimes for chicken, lamb, pork and beef. Seafood are in variety and good value, like sea brass, squid, oster. They have different stalls and small cafes amd bars too.

Bella Italia in Bolton is a casual Italian restaurant located at Unit 23, Retail Park, The Linkway. It's known for serving a variety of Italian dishes including pasta, pizza, and grill items. Waited over 1hr for food, which was cold and bland once it arrived. Service was so slow. Impossible to grab anyone’s attention while eating to complain so had to wait for the plates to be cleared. Waitress then finally asked how was the food, explained to her the situation in which she asked if we wanted dessert. An apology or even general acknowledgment would have gone along way. Safe to say we won’t be returning. Picture- spicy sausage pasta.

I ordered on uber a carbonara in hopes that it would be scrumptious like it is when you eat in , yes I knew it wouldn’t be exactly the same maybe a little colder as it’s taking longer to get here as it is a take away meal and I kept that in mind, but when it arrived it’s absolutely terrible I basically just got plain pasta cold and little to no pancetta I’m so disappointed as the pricing is very similar to eating in and was expecting a lot more
Ez4_05 — Google review
Bella Italia certainly has a charming ambiance that makes it an appealing choice for special occasions. However, our visit for our daughter's 17th birthday left a bit to be desired. Despite the significance of the day, there was no recognition or special gesture from the restaurant, which would have been a thoughtful touch. The food was satisfactory but nothing particularly memorable. Similarly, the atmosphere was pleasant enough but didn't stand out. Overall, while Bella Italia provided an okay experience, a bit more effort in customer care and attention to special occasions could have made it truly special.

If you're looking for a family-friendly dining experience, Harvester Horwich Park in Bolton is the perfect spot. This charming chain restaurant specializes in grilled meats, fresh salads, pasta, and seafood, making it an ideal choice for everyone. Start your day right with their unlimited breakfast offerings available all week long! You can indulge in a variety of freshly cooked items like eggs, bacon (including vegan options), sausages, and more.
This place definitely deserves a 5* rating. Of all the harvesters or even pub style restaurants we've been to, this place has been by far the best. We popped in on Thursday night for tea and came back again on Saturday morning for breakfast. Both times, the service was outstanding. The food was spot on, loads to choose from, all tasted fresh and of great quality. But the great customer service is something to shout about. The lad that served us went above and beyond. I think he was called 'Blake'? I hope I have his name right. Big thank you to him, the manager, and the kitchen. You guys have nailed the service at this Harvester. Thank you, me and my family will definitely return in future.

This place has got to be the best harvester we’ve been to. Lovely warm welcome from the staff followed by an excellent meal. Everything cooked to perfection and so tasty. Loads of salad and the staff kept topping it up so it was lovely and fresh, I had chicken and rib combo and the wife had the skewers and trust me she devoured it! Not saying she’s got a massive mouth but she definitely cleaned the plate! Would highly recommend this place! Definitely a 5 star ⭐ from us.

Stopped off as in area whilst working. (Supporting a young man) Free parking after a chat with staff. Found a quiet corner in front on the tv to watch football & ordered food. Staff were all friendly, helpful. Food came out quickly & was told we could use the free salad station. Food was good & presented well. Prices are fair in regards to the environment/salad station etc. Would return & a perfect stop after an afternoon hiking in rivington.

Being an extremely awkward customer where steak is concerned, I have to say this was as good as it gets for a very hot medium rare dish that very few Chefs have mastered. Even when I ask does the chef know how to cook a steak the answer is always the same and unfortunately they very rarely deliver, here the chef surpassed my expectations. Rosie our server was fast with the drinks order, which I’m sure as a guest puts you at ease. Happy, professional, attentive, Excellent. Thank you so much. Sean.

Nice atmosphere and very nice staff. I had a grilled chicken salad with a side of rice and beans, which was very dry. Had I known a salad bar came with every dinner, I would have chosen a rotisserie chicken dish. The chicken looked juicy and tasty. It was cosy and roomy. A perfect place for a family and a big group as well.

Opened last Friday after a revamp, the burgers are amazing, all hand made with quality ingredients. You can see your burger being made with an open kitchen. The burgers are to die for and the special fries are something else! Not on take away apps yet but when it is I know where my new take away is going to be. You really do need to try this place out! I remember going to McDonald or Subway n such and being hungry about an hour or so afterwards, with Burgers to Love you feel full for hours afterwards. Amazing products, froendly staff and great experiance.

Ordered a smash burger meal. I would definitely get 2 patties next time. Good quality food. Although the burger had too much sauce. Decent seating area and good service. A bit on the pricier side. Don't think anyone else does good gourmet burgers in town centre.

Visited with family. We were looking for a good place around Bolton market to have brunch. Saw good reviews and thought of giving it a try. We were not disappointed. Ordered chicken fiery hot burger.I have always been disappointed with the food being less spicy, but the sauce here was good. Though the extra mayonnaise added to it reduced the spicy flavour. The chicken patty was soft and fresh. The staff was polite and friendly.I would definitely try other items in their menu next time I visit Bolton.

Absolutely delicious. Best burger i have eaten. I ordered the Smash beef burger and the meet was freshly cooked(not frozen like you get from other takeaways) in front of me. Massive portion of chips and the burger was cooked to perfection. I also had a very yummy Ferrero milkshake. Lovely customer service too. Highly recommend

I don't usually do reviews but I was really satisfied by the food and the service. It is the best Halal burgers I've eaten so far in Bolton. It's fresh not frozen and full of taste. The chicken tenders was amazing. I hope the quality remains the same.
MOE T — Google review
Ordered from here after reading all of the positive reviews. I'm a little disappointed. I ordered signature wings, a hot chicken burger and the loaded fries. The fries were okay, they just lacked a flavours. The amount of cheese completely overpowered the chicken and beef and they would have definitely benefitted having some different flavours in there, crispy onion, spring onion, some kind of sauce for example. In the end I just got bored of eating them. The wings were okay. Decent flavour but a little too oily and greasy which made the coating soggy. The hot chicken burger was frustrating. All I could see was sauce. Picking up the burger to eat it was near impossible with the bun and ingredients barely holding together. This was so unfortunate because the sauce itself was really tasty and the chicken seemed to be a generous portion but after one bite I gave up, it was just far too saucy and ruined the whole burger. Overall not the beat experience after having such high expectations.

British restaurant
Modern European restaurant
Nick's Restaurant in Bolton is a highly regarded dining spot known for its intimate atmosphere and diverse menu. The restaurant offers a mix of British classics and global dishes, all made with fresh, local ingredients. Guests can enjoy generous portions of traditional food at reasonable prices while also having the option to participate in cookery classes.
I'm giving Nicks at Turton Goft Club 5 stars despite not actually eating there. We'd booked in but it was the evening that it snowed quiet heavily so only some of us reached it as it's situated on the tops in the open, and as it continued snowing we decided to leave and re- book. However, the menus looked great, see attached photos, and Nick himself greeted us and offered to drive us to the back to the restaurant if we wanted to leave our cars at the end of the lane, however, we declined as not all of us have made it there. Nick was very warm and friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be booking again.

Fantastic food service and atmosphere. We went for an anniversary meal and had the rack of lamb and my fiancée had duck. We also had lemon curd cheese cake and affogato for dessert. Plenty of gluten free options for my partner who is wheat Intolerant. 10/10 definitely going again.

Quality of food, service, atmosphere were top notch. The steak was the best I've ever had and was huge. Will be coming back very soon

Lovely food, great service. The Chips with the steak could have been better but definitely still deserves the five star review. The rosemary fries on the other hand, were delicious. Will visit again in the future!

How have I not already reviewed this place!? I've been coming to Nick's restaurant for years. It is by far the best dining experience in Bolton. Mouth watering food, lovely friendly staff, nice ambiance... it's got it all. It is in the middle of an urban area and doesn't have it's own car park, but there's always plenty of nearby street parking. It's also not the cheapest place, but you get what you pay for. You will eat like royalty and leave with a full stomach, guaranteed. It is worth every penny. Plus, they often have a market menu which can make a great saving. Seriously, this place is wonderful. I will go back time and time again.

BEST RESTAURANT AROUND in my view particularly for fish specials and Oysters. Went to Nicks many years ago when it was at Chequerbent and it was excellent then, first time I tried Oysters. A memorable dining experience obviously as recently visited again for my son's birthday at their place in Horwich. We went specifically for Oysters and fish. The experience was fabulous and it lived up to my previous expectations. I can honestly say I cannot fault this place. It was better than James Martin's in Manchester and similarly priced. Now I feel I'm betraying my favourite chef James Martin, but I have to be honest. That said, the bread served at JM was the best I've ever tasted. Nicks was busy, even for a Wednesday evening. Tables full. Atmosphere was almost wedding reception-like, intimate and friendly. Staff were attentive and welcoming. Decor was relaxing and zen - think Kelly Hoppen neutral ambience. Cannot wait to go back. Very affordable 2/3 course menu priced at £25/£30 respectively with no concessions on taste, quality or service. Even the house white wine was fantastic. The only question I ask myself is "why I've not been back sooner?!" There's magic sprinkled all over that place! ✨ 🥂🍽 🎩 🪄 Ps: I am absolutely not benefitting from this review...it's completely bona fide.

Visited on a completely spontaneous date night, we live over 20 miles away and chose a small restaurant at random, we are so glad we came here and will probably make the trip again. In all honesty we felt the area wasn't the best as we parked the car, but once inside the restaurant we had an amazing evening. Food was brilliant, we ordered from the market menu which was an absolute bargain for what we got! From what we overheard on tables nearby, most people were returning customers and it's not difficult to see why. The waiting staff were so friendly and attentive, we were more than happy to leave a generous tip. We were not rushed at all, and had the perfect amount of time between each course to enjoy our evening. Our favourite dishes were the goat's cheese starter and the braised lamb, though everything was lovely. Veg was seasoned perfectly. Spot on.

I am not local to Bolton at all. Booking a parking space here was easy but some of the space and tight. Better value paying online than on foot. The shopping center itself is surprisingly well maintained. My children loved the custom made candyfloss machine. As a southerner it would have been nice if somewhere there were translations for the local pharses used as decoration.

Some lovely perfumes and offers. Me and my friend got a good few expensive perfumes at 20% off as they had a deal on. The ladies in the shop were nice and helpful. They do have some great perfumes in.

Bolton Market Place is well appointed with a good mix of stores. The basement food and leisure area is excellent, a good place to meet and greet. Shame the outside units seem to struggle for some reason but overall a very good centre.

This is Primarks store in Bolton. Absolutely loads of choice ,whether its a new winter coat a pair of jeans or some p'js. Very bright and vibrant store, well worth a visit.
Susan C — Google review
Once anchored by Debenhams, this rejuvenated old market hall is still fighting to stay relevant. It has a decent set of restaurants and bars in the basement, and a good selection of shops. However, housing a model railway club and a unit (closed on Saturday) for Bolton University suggests that even this, the most up to date and relevant part of the town centre, is struggling to attract stores. Still, it is an attractive centre with a cinema and deserves to be more popular.

Good location and car park. Good shopping centre for clothes and something to eat but not much more. Hopefully something will take over the old space soon. The Primark is big enough with loads of cheap clothing. There's a Subway to eat. Centre has car parking and two lots of toilets.
Sam M — Google review
Bolton Library is probably the best bit of this tired, run down shopping centre. There is a Primark store still running inside, although it is moving soon. Queues in Primark are ridiculous, and the managers talking about staffing near unused checkouts is annoying.
Jeremy A — Google review
Decent skipping in the town centre. Needs investment. A lot of shops closing down. Good events through the year. Los to do in the library and aquarium
Usamah P — Google review
The highlight of this mall is Primark. And there is not many places for shoppers to rest. But toilet is very clean. For anyone like table tennis, there is a free place to play. There does not seem to be a help desk and parking looks quite convinent.
Hans T — Google review
Was once a good place to shop but now it has not got much to offer. I used to shop here a lot but now I mainly use it as a shortcut. Soon as you walk in your hit with the pungent aroma of subway and what seems like jewellers on every corner. If you are lucky enough to treat your self to a new watch every month it might be great for you but for the general shopper there really isn't much to choose from. If you need a few t shirts, couple of books from works or a meatball marinara that's ok but if your expecting a good afternoon of shopping there are many better places to go.
Lewis H — Google review
Going down hill this place needs something fresh, bars and restraunts and maybe an arcade or bowling to bring back some life, i do like the addition of the ping pong area
Curt S — Google review
This centre has very much turned into a ghost town. The Primark there is half decent with it being quite small and usually unorganized. I do however quite like The Works in there. As much as there are about 4 viable shops still left, it's a clean building and I've never actually had an issue with it but it definitely needs some sort of revival.

The Octagon Theatre Bolton is a bustling local venue that offers a diverse range of performances, from classics to new productions and family shows. Situated in the heart of town, it's an iconic cultural hub showcasing contemporary drama, comedy, and live entertainment. Visitors can indulge in a night out at the theatre and immerse themselves in creativity. The theatre's calendar features an array of productions such as A Christmas Carol, Brief Encounter, and Buddy Holly & The Cricketers.
I visited the Octagon Theatre for the first time last week to watch Little Shop Of Horrors with my mum and daughter. I LOVED the show - everything about it was brilliant… the acting, the accents, the singing, the stage and set, all of it! I found a welcome note on my seat from the theatre as they knew it was our first time there - a lovely (and clever!) touch. The size of the theatre was great and really helped to bring the show to life right in front of us - it just goes to show that you don’t need to spend a fortune on tickets for the big city theatres to have a fantastic night! The bar for drinks and snacks during the interval was great too. We’ll definitely be back!
Mom L — Google review
A lovely theatre. Looking around it looked like every seat had a good view due to the steep tier seats. We went to see Of Mice and Men. 4 stars given as the production made some changes that I felt strayed too far from key elements of the original story. Great actors though! A particularly excellent Carlson. Clever set design too.

Went there to see pride and prejudice. Friendly staff who are helpful, comfortable seats for a reasonable price, because of the architecture you feel involved in the play as the stage is at the center and the sound effects are great. We ordered interval drinks which we could collect easily and there was also an icecream seller at the stage during the interval. It’s very close to station (7 minute walk) so you can travel there even without a car. Also nice seating area and bar outside, excellent experience overall.

My partner and I held our wedding reception in the Crescent Room and Bar of the Octagon on Saturday 2nd August 2025. Throughout the whole planning experience, Nat and the team were unbelievably helpful, kind and always ready to answer any question. They were happy to let us have a viewing of the space and didn’t mind when we added in a few extra people just a couple of weeks before the date! On the actual night, the team were just as helpful as they’d been in the run up towards it. The music system was fantastic and easy to use with an aux cable (that we bought from Amazon - easy enough for us!) into my husbands phone. The bartender on the night provided a fantastic and quick service the whole night. The food we chose was a selection of sandwiches, varying snack foods, pizzas and chips. All of the food was piping hot and very yummy - I’m pretty sure there was none left over! We’d chosen to have some welcome drinks too, which were helpfully put on the tables for our arrival after the wedding ceremony. Throughout the entire process, the team at the Octagon were just so amazing. I had the best night of my life so far and such a memorable wedding. I highly recommend their rooms and their services. It was well worth what we paid, and I’m so grateful for all the work they put into it. Thank you!

Great place especially after the refurbishment. Great viewing, in the round, so the actors make sure they move around the central stage giving everyone a fair chance of seeing and hearing them clearly. Lovely bar areas on all 3 levels.

It was the first time in a very long time I had visited the Octagon, I was not disappointed at all. We had booked to watch Northern Soul, and it was absolutely fantastic! As we entered the theater the staff were extremely helpful, the bar staff were very accommodating and the when inside the little theatre the staff helped us to our seats and also interacted with the people inside, I was shown how to access the play information of the QR code. I will definitely be going again.

After not visiting the Octagon for a good few years l was happy to be back...the theatre was modern, spacious and the staff were lovely.. a warm welcome when we arrived, when buying drinks and when being shown our seats. The theatre performance area was great, we were seated to the side, but the performance space was well used, ensuring everyone had a good view. Free water available in the bar area on a side table, and cups of tea available to buy too... We loved being able to drink our tea whilst watching the second half of 39 steps, what a fabulous show that was too. Only slight niggle is that the seating is a little tight, l am 5f 2' and struggled to get comfortable at times... However, it wouldn't stop me going again 🙂

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Amazing Experience at Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Library! I had a fantastic time visiting the Bolton Museum, Aquarium and Library. It’s such a hidden gem in the heart of Bolton — beautifully maintained, educational, and fun for all ages. The museum has a wonderful mix of history, art, and interactive exhibits, while the aquarium adds an extra touch of excitement, especially for children. The Egyptian gallery is particularly impressive and full of fascinating displays. The library staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help. The entire place is spotless and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for families, students, or anyone looking to spend a relaxing and inspiring day. Best of all, it’s completely free! Highly recommended — Bolton can truly be proud of this place!

A day trip to Bolton to visit the museum and a look around the town. The museum was good, a few different sections including an Egyptian section, natural history style section, and as it's Bolton an area dedicated to Reebok sportswear. There is a small aquarium with a variety of different species to see. Various fish and some stingrays. Overall really pleased with the museum.

Many people will find something of interest in the museum: for me, it was the section devoted to the history of Bolton and the very engaging section on the shoe brand. Also the aquarium. The museum has a café and clean toilets.

Bolton Museum is an absolute gem, a place that truly exceeds expectations. The museum itself is fascinating, beautifully curated, and full of engaging exhibits. From local history and art and natural science and world archeology, there’s a real sense of pride in how the town’s heritage is presented. The adjoining library is equally impressive, spacious, modern, and well laid out, offering a calm and welcoming environment for readers, students, and families alike. Then there’s the little aquarium tucked inside the basement, which is a delightful surprise. It might be small, but it’s brilliantly designed, showcasing a diverse range of aquatic life in an educational and enjoyable way. The staff deserve a special mention, every member of the team is warm and eager to help, which really adds to the overall experience. It’s clear that a lot of care, thought, and funding has gone into making Bolton Museum the outstanding cultural hub it is today. And perhaps the best part? It’s completely free to enter. For a museum, library, and aquarium of this quality, that’s remarkable. You could easily spend an afternoon here and still find new things to explore. A genuine five-star attraction, if I could give it another star, I would. Bolton should be incredibly proud of this treasure.

Nature & Parks
Queen's Park, located in Bolton, is a classic Victorian public park that has been a beloved destination since its inauguration in 1866. The park underwent renovations in the 2000s and now boasts well-maintained grassy areas, mature trees, and charming Victorian architecture. Visitors can enjoy various amenities such as a modern playground, tennis courts, and a bowling green. The park's picturesque setting along the River Croal includes a lake and formal flowerbeds in the sunken garden.
Queens Park in Bolton is an absolute gem! Spanning 22 acres, this Victorian park beautifully blends history and nature, offering a serene escape right in the heart of town. My family and I had a wonderful visit, and the park’s charm left us all enchanted. The recent restoration has truly brought back its original Victorian glory, with well-maintained pathways, a stunning lake, and vibrant cherry blossoms adding to its regal appeal—aptly named Queens Park! The playground was a highlight for my kids, who were thrilled with the variety of play equipment. They spent hours exploring and playing, their laughter echoing through the park. The lake, home to ducks and herons, was a delight, with birdsong creating a peaceful ambiance despite the nearby roads. The artificial fountain added a whimsical touch, and we enjoyed treats from the ice cream van and cozy café area. The park’s Green Flag award is well-deserved, reflecting its high standards. From the grand staircases to the lush greenery, there’s a royal vibe that makes this park special. Whether you’re a nature lover, fitness enthusiast, or just seeking tranquility, Queens Park has it all. My kids can’t wait to return, and I highly recommend this park to anyone visiting Bolton—it’s a truly extraordinary experience!

First visit here and for the most, no complaints. Lovely views, decent park, lots of benches and green space to enjoy a picnic. Gorgeous gardens and the lake we went to was thriving. Squirrels everywhere and not shy. Only issue was that after using the pull up weights on the outdoor gym, everyone was stained black. It washed off at home but it wasn't ideal walking round dirty for the rest of the day.

Queen’s Park in Bolton is a gem for families and individuals alike, offering a delightful blend of tranquillity and fun. This well-maintained park is a haven for children, boasting an impressive playground with around 15 engaging play structures that spark joy and creativity. From slides to climbing frames, there’s something to keep kids entertained for hours. The park’s serene atmosphere makes it equally appealing for adults seeking a peaceful stroll or a refreshing run through its scenic paths. A charming café sits conveniently next to the playground, perfect for grabbing a cuppa or a snack, though it requires a short walk to reach, adding to the park’s relaxed vibe. The lush greenery and open spaces create an inviting setting for picnics, leisurely walks, or simply unwinding. Whether you’re a parent watching your little ones play or someone looking for a quiet escape from the hustle and bustle, Queen’s Park delivers. The park is clean, safe, and thoughtfully designed, making it a fantastic spot for all ages. I highly recommend Queen’s Park to anyone in Bolton or visiting the area. I’ve visited this place many times and the experience is always consistently excellent. Today was no different, with the team providing quick, efficient, and genuinely warm service. The restaurant was spotless, which added to the overall comfort and positive atmosphere. A big thank you to Alexis, who was incredibly helpful and approachable. He made sure I was seated at a quieter table as requested and handled all my questions with ease. The food was, as always, full of flavour and perfectly cooked. It’s also great to see the team actively following food safety practices, such as regular handwashing and maintaining excellent personal hygiene. Another thoroughly enjoyable visit.

Waited for 10 minutes to be seen to a table , the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Ordered our food , when the started came the waiter basically threw it on the table and never spoke. Once the mains came the waiter didn’t take the starter plates away. Cutlery was dirty. Had to go through the pot to find any clean knifes and forks. The food was good but the service of the staff let down the experience sadly.

The main issue was the food, in particular the chicken thighs - they were cold, burnt and dry honestly horrific especially for the premium pricepoint. Also there was a firefly hovering over my food the entire time. Staff seemed nice but the Middlebrook branch is alot better and more reliable, stay away from this one extremely unacceptable.

The main course itself is the most important part for me, the two whole chickens I ordered were very under-grilled and tasted like boiled chicken. My previous good experience at Nando's Trafford Centre was ruined. Main course: Whole Chicken: bad 🌟 Sides: Chips: bad [over cooked & little bitter ] Spicy Rice: good Garlic bread: good

Finley, who is honestly a star at this Nando’s. From the moment I walked in, he had the kindest, bubbliest energy – always smiling, always attentive. The service was genuinely perfect; he made sure everything ran smoothly and went above and beyond to keep the place spotless. What really stood out to me was that he was the only one I saw consistently cleaning tables, taking initiative without hesitation. That kind of pride in the job is rare, and it made the whole atmosphere so much better. Finley is an absolute credit to the team – professional, welcoming, and clearly passionate about giving great service. If every restaurant had a Finley, eating out would always be a 10/10 experience.

I dont usually write reviews but i felt i had to say how welcoming Dawn was when we entered Nandos. Enquiring if we had any allergies, seating us in a place that accommodated a disability trolley that wouldnt be in anyones way, and seating us in a quiet place suitable for my son with autism, she then swiftly went to get a highchair for him as well as crayons and paper to colour which made him really happy! She also periodically came back to our table to check on us to ask if there was anything more that she could assist us with. The whole experience was great and i would highly recommend this nandos especially if Dawn is there!

Amy and Marie was amazing. Their service and personality was great! Bottomless brunch was 10/10. Amy never let us have an empty glass on the table even when we didn't like a drink she came over and changed it for a new one.

I'm very skeptical when it comes to pub food I'm always moaning about it but tonight I was gobsmacked very tasty cooked perfect and very friendly staff, big thanks to the waitress who seen me waiting in the question for a drink knowing my food was on table who told me to enjoy my meal and she will bring drinks Came back for another meal yet again fautless

This is apparently what they class as a "feast": handful of chips, spoonful of peas, stale bread and some fish accompanied by sauces. I've eaten bigger take away food and for less money (this cost over £10!) And on top of it the girl behind the bar didn't have proper training so had to go in search of a supervisor. Not some place I'd go back to eat again.

Arranged to meet as a central point with friends from Blackpool & Bolton & I travelled up from Stockport. Got there and it opened right on 12 noon. Found a table with a radiator next to it as it was snowing outside. Plenty of room for the pushchair and wheelchair my friends had and room for baby to crawl about before it got too busy. Great loos with an especially roomy disabled cubicle. No steps to enter the pub, again a plus for disabled users. Great atmosphere pre- England match. Nice meals, I had a potato skin starter only but good sized helpings . Definitely be back.

Tonight was my first time trying the new menu, Wow id definitely be returning here... my favorite food spot in bolton definitely. The place it's self was stunning the staff were very professional greeted me at the door and led us to our table. The cocktail menu i asked for recommendations as there was so many I wanted to choose. They were all stunning. My favorites were dark and stormy and tiki suprise. Now to the food was unbelievable. The bombay bites where to die for Oh my gosh the lamb karahi was 10/10 I also loved the chicken ra ra keema was really good and flavoursome too. Personally I'd like it more spicy but it was my friends and she said it was perfect. What I did like is that the waiter said you can order them more to your spice levels which I loved. I'll definitely come back here for both the food and cocktails. We took a group of 10 people which came to around £23 a head and we all left in a food coma

I was unsure of the new menu changed but quickly changed I ordered the roti taco and the loaded masala fries loved both and a lot of flavour. Fantastic service milan and Jemma where fantastic very friendly best service I’ve had at court house. The pistachio filled croissant is delicious!! Atmosphere was quiet but it is a Sunday 💁🏼‍♀️

Delicious burger! Highly recommend. The place looks very nice and the bar-mans are nice. Good meat, good additives and very nice fries. The Service was rude and not nice. that was the only bad thing about this place but it's easy to fix. But the food is amazing. The best burger in Bolton.

Visited yesterday for the second time, the food is outstanding! We had the bottomless brunch this time and it's the best one I've had, a great meal with the most amazing cocktails. Staff are fantastic, can't fault this place! 5* all the way!

Popped in for lunch. Not busy which was good. Service was friendly and prompt. The menu has a wide choice and we chose dirty fries. The portions were large, tasty and nicely presented. Think we will go for the 2 for £15 next time! My only negative is that the dining area seemed cold. We weren't sitting near the door. A friend who visited last week made the same comment.

Absolutely amazing atmosphere, first time in Bolton and it's made the trip perfect. Came here twice, great cocktails at good price and the food was a taste sensation. Had the street food and loved every bite! Definitely recommend. Gemma was so accommodating, friendly, professional and welcoming!

First time at this place and it didn't disappoint, there's a broad range of dishes on the menu with options for vegetarians. Try the burgers as all six that we picked were very good. Upgraded my fries with chicken, cheese and bacon so that went down well with my lamb and chorizo burger. Had the garlic mushroom bread and cheesy garlic jalapeno bread as starters and they were a very good option. It's worth sampling the cocktail menu as there's lots of offers on them. Rounded it all off with a sticky toffee pudding 😊 which was a very large portion.

Food was delicious, Birria sauce had a nice kick to it but not overpowering. Portion sizes were good. The naked burrito (rice bowl) was really tasty. The churros were perfectly crispy and the chocolate sauce was moreish. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Will go back to try more from the menu :)

Went tonight with a relative and really enjoyed it. A wide range of vegan food choices for me . The staff were very friendly. It only has 3 tables but I think most of the custom is online. It was so peaceful and relaxing . Don Tacos issue not the restaurant is that you can only look at the vegan menu online. Clean and tidy and we were undisturbed.. Will definitely be back soon. Other issue is there is a large step at the entrance which can be hard to navigate if disabled . Maybe a ramp could be made available? But overall a very pleasant meal.

Moses Gate Country Park, located in Farnworth, Bolton, is a sprawling 300-hectare nature reserve offering a variety of outdoor activities. It features lakes, woodlands, and heritage sites with abundant wildlife to explore. The park is ideal for family outings and leisurely walks suitable for all ages. Very Nice Place to relax. Kids, Young People and Adults also can visit here. There is playground here where kids can experience the outbound training activities. There is duck tank and kids enjoying to feed them. Walking path available along the duck tank and inside the park. Enough grass land inside the park. A lot of parking space available. Entrance is free. Ice cream van usually parked inside the park and the cost is bit high which is around 5GBP. Overall recommended place.

Moss Gate Park is one of my favourite green escapes in the area. It’s a beautiful, clean, and safe park with a very relaxing vibe. I often bring my dogs here for walks — it’s a great spot for both energetic pups and calm strolls. The open green space is well-maintained, and I always feel comfortable walking alone or with my pets. One of the things I love most is the occasional festivals or community events that take place here. Whether it’s a small local gathering or a family-friendly celebration, it gives the park such a welcoming energy. There’s even a designated barbecue area which makes it perfect for a chilled weekend with friends or family. It’s rare to find parks in the area that feel this open yet still feel safe and tidy. All in all, Moss Gate Park is a little gem — peaceful, vibrant, and ideal for dog lovers, families, and anyone who wants a nature break without leaving town. 🌳🐾🔥

If you love your wildlife, walks, canal paths, woodland,ice-cream or wish for your little'uns to burn off some energy at the park. Here is just the place. As a Lowtoner, I had never been till mine and fiancé's first date. And we've been going since. It's serene, and quiet, yet vibrant and loud depending on what time you go or what spot you choose to visit at Moses Gate Country Park. They have a historical hall named "Rock Hall" that is perched facing the river croal by the weir. It is to be done up and resurrected to be brought back to the community. The weir itself fascinates me as it attracts different types of wildlife with every visit. In my 24 years of life I'd never seen; a kingfisher; a dipper; a greater crested grebe; a comorant amongst other species. The place never let's you down and is always worth a visit.

Great park, nice and clean. Plenty of places to park, sit and walk. Shame about the amount of people who were having BBQs. Dread to think of the mess they leave.
Jo G — Google review
I didn't explore it fully but what I did see the country park is nice. I went on a day after heave rain during the night so was quite muddy. Parking is OK within the park and there is parking available on roads outside of the park. Three small lakes and a river that runs through. Ice cream van on site, not the cheapest but definetly not the dearest. He takes cards and cash. I can imagine that the park gets VERY busy in the summer.

Lovely local park – a family favourite We come here regularly as a family and absolutely love it. There's plenty of space for walks, and the playground is well-maintained with equipment suitable for kids of all ages. The on-site café is great for grabbing a brew and a snack. One of the highlights is the miniature railway—just a couple of quid for a ride, and it's run by a passionate local group. There's also a fun children's trail organised by the Woodland Trust (small extra cost), which adds something a bit different. Lots of parking available and a couple of lovely garden areas to explore. The rock garden is our favourite, though it's a bit tucked away—definitely worth finding!

On weekends there is also a model train that you can pay to ride on and it goes around a good size track - lots of parents sit with their children on this volunteer managed scale train set. It’s a good park to get your steps in and walk dogs, play football, play cricket, frisbee and people also do barbecues. The little play area also has a sand pit with boat, jumping board and sand play tower. Swings cater for babies and upto adults… Picnic benches available and plenty of open grass areas for day camping and picnicking.

Smithills Hall is a beautiful place for a walk! We really enjoyed exploring the well-kept gardens and then taking a longer stroll through the surrounding woodland. The path was perfect and eventually led us out to Barlow playing fields. It was a peaceful and enjoyable walk, and we'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great outdoor space to explore. Plus it's free!

Went on a Ghost/History tour late last Thursday. Was very interesting hearing about the history of the place and how it helped shaped the town. Hearing stories about the ghostly goings on, and even a personal first hand account in the chapel. The main ghost we heard about was George Marsh. Was amazing seeing the passage of time when going into the different wings. I haven’t included any pictures of the Victorian side, with the library and the Ainsworth rooms which is well worth a nosey. Will be coming back during the day for a non-ghostly version, as loved hearing about something so close to home.

Lovely grand hall. parts of which go back to the 14th century and now owned by Bolton council, so it's free to get in. Once you've finished the hall there are gardens, and woodland leading up to Rivington should you want to. Wonderful cafe and shop located in the hall - well worth a visit.
Mark T — Google review
Beautiful Elizabethan manor house with the oldest parts dating back to the C14th. Owned by Bolton Council it has been excellently restored with information boards in the different rooms. The guide we had was very good in telling the story of the building. In 1554, during the reign of the Catholic Queen Mary, local Protestant preacher George Marsh was interrogated here before he was burned at the stake in Chester for heresy. It is said that there is a footprint on the floor where he stamped his foot to show the injustice. There's a tea room and a gift shop. Also attractive grounds to wander around. Although it's free to go in, a donation is deserved.

The hall is smaller than we expected (or you can see less of it than we thought) but it is a lovely building. You can only see one room upstairs and no kitchens. The tour groups blocked off alot of the house during our visit unfortunately. The chapel was my favourite part, beautiful windows. There are lots of very low door frames which was rather amusing with my 6ft 4 husband, he must have been a rarity back then! If you take a left instead if heading into the house, it leads you to a stone bridge, go down the bottom of the bridge and theres a lovely waterfall. Entry is free, please make a donation. Check opening times on Google and check for private events before setting off. Parking is free just over the road and theres disabled parking right in front of the house.

An absolutely legendary place to visit especially for free but please make sure to donate some shrapnel at least. I want to say thank you to John for giving us such an amazing tour of this glorious building. We would have missed so much if we didn’t have his plethora of knowledge and information. I would recommend this place to anyone.

An excellent place to walk around the reservoir with well signposted largely dry paths despite recently weather. An excellent café located near the car park offering a good choice of food with friendly staff and prompt service. Toilets are a disgrace however since they are run by a separate part of a local council and not part of the café so once toilets are installed within the café buildings, they’ll be no course a complaint.

Turton Tower is a unique combination of a fortified pele tower from the Middle Ages and a plush country house from the 16th century. It's located near Jumbles Country Park, between Bolton and Blackburn. The manor house has been transformed into a museum and visitor attraction, showcasing over 600 years of history with restored period furniture in all its rooms. The building features Tudor architecture, including wattle and daub walls.
What a hidden gem! The volunteers here make the place, their excellent knowledge really brought the building alive and added so much to our visit. Well worth the £6 entry fee, it’s great somewhere like this is so accessible and well looked after. Highly recommend. Great sweet treats in the garden too!

We had a brilliant day out here. A distant relative worked in the kitchen back in 1901 so we visited to see where she worked, and lived. We chatted to a lovely guide, who knew the history about the family who resided in 1901. It is a fascinating building with so much history, and very different styles due to additions to the structure many years ago. The wooden furniture is stunning! The grounds are amazing, and the scenery around is stunning. You can also walk around the kitchen garden, smelling the various homegrown herbs, and also observe the apiary, where the bees make the honey which is sold in the shop! The little cafe sells a wide selection of food and drink, and the ice cream is absolutely delicious! The car park limits you to 3 hours free parking, but there is space available on the left as you turn in to the estate, if you plan on staying longer (we were there around 4 hours!). £6 per adult and children aged 16 and under are free! I thoroughly recommend visiting!

A beautiful and peaceful historic site. Turton Tower takes you on a journey through over 500 years of history, from its beginnings as a medieval tower, through Tudor and Victorian periods, and finally as a charming family home. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are full of character, and the surrounding woodland adds to the atmosphere. Friendly staff and a small café make the visit even more pleasant. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in heritage and quiet countryside walks.

The staff were really friendly and very informative, the gardeners who we first met when arriving at the house were lovely. The food at the woodland cafe was also nice! An interesting house to visit. Not very large but fantastic seeing how all the rooms had been cobbled together but still standing. You have the original tower, then the newer rooms. Guests rave about the warm atmosphere and friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure your visit is memorable. From hearty specialty pies to generous portions of roast dinners, each dish bursts with flavor and freshness.
Lovely food, staff really friendly and helpful couldn’t do enough for you - been a few times and will be back again when in the area! Had the Moo & Blue Pie, really delicious and fab value for money! Wanted a pizza originally but the dough wasn’t ready but I secretly wanted the Moo & Blue anyway so it worked out fine as it was beautiful. Staff are so welcoming and friendly.

I was disappointed that the moo-less-moo pie was not available. I was told that they're struggling to get the Jackfruit needed for the pie, the only other vegetarian pie was the usual cheese and onion. Alternatively I could have had the chickpea curry. My friends all had the steak, ale, cheese and chilli pie and loved it, with the exception of one friend who said that it was too spicey for her. I ended up having the fisherman's pie which was average, all I could see/taste was white fish and the odd prawn, which suited me as I don't like prawns but there was no smoked haddock or salmon that I could ascertain. The staff were friendly although it did take quite a while for the drinks to arrive.

Just wanted to pass on huge thanks for our family (14 of us) meal yesterday!... The food was absolutely superb! We were blown away by how fresh and delicious everything was, and how well it was all presented. The portions were huge, and everything was served hot and at the same time. Highly recommend the speciality pies, but the roast dinner was also pretty special.... Most of the group had 3 courses (a couple of us were too stuffed for dessert), and there were multiple drinks orders throughout the meal, so the £350 bill was definitely reasonable, (especially given the quality of the food and the portion sizes)... The service we received was fantastic too - the girls were all attentive and efficient! ... Couldn't fault it, all round! ... So huge thank you to the team! 🥰

Great service & food was perfect. We don't visit enough & need to make it more regular. Well done guys & keep it going.

I have previously eaten at the Finishers and always found the food excellent. Today I decided to try the Breakfast and it was of the highest quality, eight items all perfectly cooked and delicious all served by the lovely Laura. I consider myself a connoisseur on Breakfast meals and have visited several establishments to rate their Breakfast, without doubt the Finishers is currently number one in my league of Breakfast serving venues

One of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had in a long time! Staff are welcoming and friendly, it was quite busy but still got served quickly. I would definitely come back to try there over menu options 😍

Fantastic experience again. Amazing food, attentive hosts - nothing is too much trouble. It can be seen that this restaurant is Giuseppes passion - he never stops! Beautifully clean. No further recommendation apart from Just Visit, and wear pants that expand (it's that good).

Outstanding all round. Highly attentive and helpful staff with prompt service. Nothing got forgotten or overlooked, drinks and condiments were brought immediately when requested. Food was fantastic for everyone in our group. Served quickly, together, at the right temperature and delicious! Wine was very good. Only very minor suggestion would be if white wine could be served in chilled glasses that would be even better. Well done Giuseppe and team, we will be back for sure!

Excellent in all ways, food, service and atmosphere. My partner had the Tagliatelle Salmon with (£16.95) he has every time as it's the best he's ever had, he says. I had the chefs special (£23.50) made with halloumi for the 1st time and it was excellent, although a tad too spicey for me, next time I'll ask them to dial down the cajun spice. You can also have it with prawns, chicken or lamb, I think. We also shared a starter, the frittata which I was surprised how spicy it was but the sweet chilli sauce cooled it slightly. Definitely recommend the restaurant, Giuseppe is great, friendly and helpful.

Our first time at Guiseppe’s last night for our anniversary and won’t be our last . From the moment we walked in the owners were friendly and couldn’t be more accommodating. The candy floss cocktail I had was gorgeous and strong ! There is an open kitchen if you sit in the main bit you can see the chef which I liked , he was also really friendly and gave us a wave. The food was amazing we had a starter , main and dessert and there was no long waiting between courses. All the food was delicious but I especially loved my dessert of white chocolate crème brûlée Loved every minute we were made to feel relaxed and welcome. The building is old and beautiful with stone walls and wood beams. My husband said it’s the best restaurant he’s ever been to and I would agree the owners made the experience special . Can’t wait to go back again ! :-)

Nestled in a picturesque setting, Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa offers a relaxing retreat with its well-appointed rooms, two bars, and a restaurant. The hotel boasts an intriguing history and features its own mini village with various shops. Guests can indulge in delectable dining options at the Courtyard Restaurant, Courtyard Bar, The Village Tea Shop, and the Drop Inn. Additionally, visitors can unwind at the Village Spa which provides fitness facilities, hydrotherapy, and rejuvenating spa treatments.
I attended the Autumn Spa Day with my Mum today, which was a birthday gift. We had an absolutely lovely time, the facilities are wonderful, loved the various sauna/steam rooms etc available. The outdoor thermal pool was fabulous too. We also joined in with an aqua aerobics class which was on at the time and we really enjoyed it. To finish off we had a 50 minute treatment which was incredible, the girls were wonderful who did the treatments and made sure we were always happy & comfortable. The staff on the spa reception were also really helpful and happy to help us. Although the changing rooms were a little tired and in need on a facelift, it didn’t affect our visit whatsoever! We would definitely return!

All inclusive package overnight stay to celebrate my partners birthday. Whether the package is value for money at £259 is questionable. The evening food menu and drinks between 6pm and 10pm are limited to specific conditions therefore check before you book. The hot breakfast options were great and the quality of food was worth the stay alone. The reception staff were great and one particular staff member Ania who was fantastic went above and beyond to resolve a very small issue we had. Will definitely be returning.

Booked 1 night stay at this hotel for our 25year anniversary last minute. I didn’t even get a confirmation email. Couple days before my wife asked, what do I need, how longs the spa, is it a certain time, checked for an email didn’t have 1 do I rang the hotel to be told oh you have to book spa separately so they put me through. The spa! Told us you get 50min what time do you want, booked for 2pm. Nothing was explained like the hire of robes etc. I think 50 min is not enough time at all. By the time we were changed, had a look around did 1 steam room for the recommended time we only had 20 min left. It’s very old dated and not that clean. 1 of the steam rooms wasn’t even working. The staff in the spa were very rude! The morning breakfast staff were miserable and not very helpful. All in need of customer service training and the hotel needs a good update. The best this about our stay was the comfy bed and pillows. Will not be returning in the future.

We booked a Wowcher overnight stay here. Fantastic location with plenty of things to do, and different places to eat and have a drink. The bakery was beautiful and had the most delicious cakes. We enjoyed the Spa which was included in our package deal. The bedrooms were spotless and nothing to fault. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would return for a visit.

We checked in at 2 pm but had a little wait until around 3 pm for our room. We booked a family room that was just right for us, featuring a cozy double bed, a sofa bed, and a single bed—plenty of space for everyone! The kids were eager to take a dip, but the pool was quite popular during our visit. Breakfast was delightful, and we were thrilled to find a convenient parking spot nearby. We also enjoyed a lovely stroll around the hotel and stumbled upon some charming little shops in the area.

Nice to visit short term. Try the pub at the rear where you get a different menu, more traditional. The Steak and Ale pie recommended. Breakfast, could be better. You have to select off a list, so the staff have do a lot of running around. Would be better as a self service. Also, don't ask for a cappuccino, most places just have a self serve machine, here you have to pay extra and the staff run off and fetch.
Colin T — Google review
A quaint and stylish place with some very good views depending on which side you are. A fair amount of walking to and fro to find your room, but when you do, it's nicely done clean and pleasant. Not the hugest of bedrooms. As a wedding venue it's fabulous

Absolutely amazing food! And the service was amazing! I was there for my graduation and the staff bought out a balloon and a card! A very special touch!

Excellent as always. The best curry house around, cannot fault it. On this occasion visited for my birthday, on arrival there was a balloon and card at our table lovely little touch. As for food I tried the Chicken tikka 'BOLTI' there version of the classic balti. And wasn't disappointed it was wonderful. At the end of the meal there was yet another surprise with a chocolate cake which I could take away with me. All in all a great experience.

Had a really good takeaway yesterday from here. They did the best garlic chilli chicken we've had in ages. Really Thick sauce! Lots of garlic and chilli in also. Kids loved the korma and didn't leave anything on the plate. Will be our new go to as so hard finding a place that does it right the way we like so really happy with the food.

We ordered a big dinner for delivery and I gave them a little call to check up on it, they acknowledged the delivery and double checked we were happy with the spice levels ☺️ and it was delivered promptly. There were a few free extras so we had plenty of left overs. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered the saag paneer and the spinach was super fresh, healthy tasting and great texture - not overly creamy, oily or soupy. The rice had a little kick which was great and I tried the kulchi bread which was lighter than a naan so I didn’t feel too full. 10/10

We were told about the Royal Balti House from friends and as we were in the area decided to give it a go. Wow this was the best curry I have ever had, I went for the vegetable Madras which was so tasty and just the right level for spice, so smooth on the pallet. The staff were very friendly coming over regularly for a chat and were genuinely eager to know how the food was - nothing was too much trouble. The venue is very authentic and fits well with the food. The menu has so much variety and the chefs will happily cook the meals to your request. We are 15 miles away but won't need a reason visit again it could be 100 miles we would still go the food and service is that good

First time comin to this restaurant and it was absolutely gorgeous, would definitely recommend and we will definitely be coming again. Staff cant do enough for you and have conversations with you. I am very fussy about white wine but it was so nice and the staff even got me a bigger glass to make me happy. All over experience of this restaurant is 100 out of 100 and I will look forward to coming again soon. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

Absolutely amazing!!! Our first time here and staff were so lovely! This showed with the amount of regulars that were in the restaurant - who were equally as friendly! As for the food … my gosh it was amazing! The naan bread melted in my mouth! I am a bit of a curry snob and this place definitely did not disappoint!!

If you're on the lookout for an exhilarating family adventure, look no further than Go Ape Rivington, nestled just outside Bolton in the stunning Rivington/Lever Park area. This treetop course offers a thrilling experience as you navigate high ropes, zip lines, and treetop crossings amidst the breathtaking scenery of the West Pennine Moors.
Fantastic staff! Very happy feel good factor from them. Excellent training skills , especially Emz who helped us so much with everything. The course was just tough enough to push us out of our comfort zones but also extremely enjoyable leaving us with a fulfilling and exhilarating feeling. We definitely felt the afterglow. Very happy customers!
Victoria T — Google review
First time, and it was super fun! The staff were welcoming and nice, especially helpful at the first site—they pointed out my mistakes and made sure I understood everything before letting us continue the course at our own pace. The course at this location was quite tame, which made it a great choice for a first-time experience. It’s beginner-friendly and good for getting comfortable with the equipment and heights. The constant clipping and unclipping got a bit repetitive, but you get used to it. After a while, the obstacles started to feel a bit monotonous—more variety, like extra Tarzan swings, would’ve made it more exciting. Near the end, one of the staff members stood behind us and told me to put my phone away. I was safely on the platform and just trying to take a picture of my friend going down the zip line. I thought taking photos was allowed at your own risk, so this felt a bit off. It also changed the vibe—we had felt independent and relaxed throughout the course, but suddenly it felt like we were being supervised. It ended the experience on a weird note. That said, I’d still go again—maybe to a more extreme or challenging location next time. I loved the zip lines and honestly wish there were more of them!.

Anyone that doesn't have a good day here needs to put their cardigan & slippers back on to never venture out of their door again while keeping their blinds & curtains closed, stay home be boring maybe have a Sherry, play your 1970's electric organ because Go Ape is far too exciting for you. I took my kids around 15 years ago & what a day we had my lad was taking a while on 1 piece of apparatus eventually he went & no more problems after that my daughter went on the last zip line over the water & soon as she was clipped in she was bye & gone 1 excellent day had by all of us hopefully I will be back with grandkids

Staff were really friendly and made the process of ensuring safety for everyone and easy light hearted event. The course was great with a smaller tartan swing followed later by a large one and four decent zip lines at the end of each part. Is a great family day out and other guests were all polite and courteous all day. We were a family of 5 with 2 x 15yos and they had an amazing day. We did take our own gloves but purchased the gloves there for £6 (added a waterproof phone case for an extra £4 instead of £6 as a deal bought together). The gloves were great, would recommend as they are wingless but have great grip to for holding wires etc.

I love this place! I grew up close to the Pike and as a kid played in the gardens and cycled up to the Pike as a young kid. Now I had the opportunity to bring my ten year old son to explore like I did. Credit to the volunteers who have cleared a lot of the foliage which makes for a better experience.

Really enjoyed our visit to the centre today. I’ve never been to a centre whereby they had a table allocated for me, took me to that table and gave me a drinks / food menu to save me having to ask at the servery. All the staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful. I love the fact that you can see the whole of the play frame from the tables that gives me peace of mind at all times. A bit cold to play outside today but we will certainly give that a go when the weather is better. Another great option. Oh and I had a bacon sandwich that was lovely. Recommend a visit.

We visited Part and Play today all the way from Blackpool with 20 children and staff. The team were so welcoming and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The play area was amazing spacious, clean, and with a fantastic outdoor area (a rare find!). The toilet facilities were outstanding, especially for our children with SEN and disabilities. They even had a large changing facility with a proper bed, which made such a difference. We had a brilliant time and can’t wait to return. Highly recommend!

This as to be one of the best places we have been with my girls. They absolutely love it. The woman that owns it is amazing its an absolute Credit to her what she as created. The staff are welcoming and lovely they can't do enough for you. The food is really good on a different level compared to other places we have been they use the best quality products. It is very clean and to see them going around sanitising was good to see. The play area in and out are amazing its one of the best we have experienced. And my girls love the quad bikes. I would highly recommend you give this place a visit.

The place is nice, staff are great. But with a disabled daughter a free carer should be included and the prices are just insane. It should not cost over £20 to take one child with her parents. Food and drink is also excessively priced so after a drink and a snack each it's easily over £30.

Very nice place and been a few time. Love that there are indoor and outdoor areas and they renovated outdoor space recently. Also options for older and younger kids and football area. Halal food is a definite bonus. It is pricier than average play areas but well maintained generally.

The University of Bolton Arena is a fantastic venue that offers a variety of events and activities. I recently attended the Stars and Cars event, which was an enjoyable experience in a spacious and well-maintained facility. Although there are only two cafes on-site, they were bustling with activity. The arena is conveniently located near major motorways, making it easy to find and park for free.
Went to the Bolton tool fair here. Pleasant experience, easy parking.

had my therapy dog with me and as the gates were closed so we walked to the reception to see if there’s a chance we could get through that way. We didn’t even step through the door before the receptionist SHOUTED at me ‘you can’t bring that dog in here!’ i then said to her about it being a therapy dog and instantly got shut down again after saying we just wanted to make our way to the OUTDOOR pitches. After another rude comment we decided to go and sit at the car, then another member of staff came to open the gates we originally asked for and stood there a good 20 minutes staring at me and making out that i wasn’t to come in, i felt very intimidated and anxious by the behaviour of the staff here considering she is a therapy dog for anxiety!!

If you are attending a Speed Awareness Course at this arena. Don't go. Far too many car accidents on the motorway. Ended up an hour late.😡. Not allowed in. Why. Not my fault. Police incident. Had to rearrange fuming. I live in 9 miles away and due to date timescale ended up booking it here. Nothing else available. Why. I have booked again at St Helens 5 miles away. Mentioned St Helens NO dates available within timescale. Why. Roads are grid locked around there. Don't bother. The older receptionist said I was shouting at her. I wasn't. I was angry due to leaving my house at 1pm.in plenty time. And arrived at. 2.30pm. 😡🚘 The man helping doing the Course escorted me out of the room Infront of the people doing the course. Totally showing me up. After me telephoning the arena and telling the receptionist I would be late. And she told them. NOT HAPPY..😡🚘 JD. From Nine miles away 😡 A know the stars are for the arena itself. For the building itself. But very busy around the area....bear this in mind ...😡🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘

Called in at Bolton Arena to enquire about joining the gym. Unfortunately, the receptionist was very unhelpful, unfriendly, and came across as abrupt. I felt looked down upon and left with a poor impression, which really put me off joining.

Supermarket

M&S Foodhall offers a delightful shopping experience, especially for those exploring the Trent & Mersey canal. The supermarket is well-maintained and features friendly staff ready to assist you. While it lacks self-scan options for in-store shopping, there are self-checkout facilities available. Although there are only two accessible toilets, which can lead to queues even during quieter times, the overall stock selection remains impressive even late on a Friday evening.
Love having this at Stone. Get all the nice food from here. Also can get deliveries of clothes at this sore as well. Very convenient to have a store in Stone

The supermarket was clean, staff very helpful. Only issues are- No self scan guns while you walk round the shop, there is self scan at checkout but I prefer to bag as I go round. Toilets, there are 2. Both accessible which is great but with only 2 loos there is a queue even at quiet times.

What's happened to hygiene standards? I was served by a young lad at the till today who was very pleasant and helpful but his hair was very long (waist level) and unkempt, I felt it should have been tied back because it looked dirty. Also his fingernails were filthy and he was handling my fresh groceries!
Paula — Google review
Absolutely love the supermarket element but the cafe is not M&S standard, the size of it should have rang alarm bells. The staff are beautifully helpful but they can only do so much when they’re serving toasties in brown bags where the bread tastes like plastic. Either do an M&S cafe or don’t, this is a weird hybrid.

Went in today to grab some chunked and loaded pistachio cookies as my girlfriend is craving them right now. I took 3 to the self service checkouts and my card was declined. There was no staff to be seen so I kindly asked the lady next to me to let a member of staff know I'm just nipping to my car to get the cash and I'll be back in 20 seconds. When I got back the baked goods were gone and a staff member (a middle aged man with longish hair in a pony tail) was now there. I asked him where they were and he looked at me and said "I've binned them". It had not been 30 seconds since I got the cash, and this guy's first instinct was to throw the fresh items away. Not only is this hugely wasteful, it now means I have to drive to either Wolstanton or Stafford to get the cookies my partner craves. Thanks a lot M&S. Great service.
Cloud D — Google review
The usual high standard M&S food hall.. so why the two stars? Well if you aren't local the car parking arrangement is confusing. Yes there are big high up signs but we assumed they were the usual don't park here for more than x hours. WRONG . You need to be in and out in 15 mins and get a QR code from the till (which wasn't automatically issued by the self service till!!) Fortunately we were saved by a kind lady who spotted my confusion as I clocked the pay here machines. All the above is totally obvious if you live locally...but if you were in a rush like we were (toilets after M6 traffic jam) and a nice cup of tea.. not so much.
M K — Google review
Visited for the first time late on a Friday evening, stock selection and availability was still good. Car park was free using a receipt/QR code available at the till area. This was not clear and needed to search and find a member of staff in order to locate.

Had tuna and cheese toastie, was cold inside and cheese was on outside of sandwich, very greasy. Also omelette roll was pre-formed and very small roll, barely enough for a child leave alone a man. Tea was nice. The price was over £17, exorbitant for what we had. Very disappointing.

Pub
Nestled in Westhoughton, Bolton, Waggon & Horses is a charming pub that offers an inviting atmosphere and a delightful menu. Known for its traditional pub fare, the establishment has recently enhanced its Sunday Carvery offerings. Guests rave about the homemade dishes, including favorites like cheese and onion pie and indulgent desserts such as sticky toffee pudding. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience amidst local history showcased in beautiful stained glass windows.
Called in today for the senior citizen menu and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff are great, the place is spotless and a chilled atmosphere with local history depicted on the stained glass windows. The food is homemade and very tasty, the senior menu is Monday before 6.30 pm. We had cheese and onion pie with chips and cabbage X2, cheese cake with ice cream X1, sticky toffee pudding with ice cream X1, coffee X2, 1 pint diet coke, 1 and a half pints of Guinness. .... A grand total of £22.20...Its great value!. Unfortunately I have just learned that it is closing down from September but the staff are being kept on at other venues. It's such a shame to see so many places closing and the trend continues

What a great find. Turned up on spec on a Friday night with the kids in tow. Firstly, stunning period building with original features, a real cosy olden days hostelry. Stained glass windows, lots of wood everywhere. If you were given licence to imagine a cosy country inn - this is pretty close. The food, nice simple menu with a few flourishes, plenty veggie/vegan options and enough options to satisfy the little peeps. Whilst there was no menu for kids or dessert the waitress easily and patiently explained (and weren't long. At around £50 we had a decent meal for 2 adults and 2 children with drinks and puddings. And the staff - compared to those at more up market and expensive venues; patient, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable. A great venue and a real hidden gem.

Right, I’m going to start with the positives and there are a few as I did enjoy our visit here. To start, I came to this place a few years ago and walked straight back out, this place has changed and definitely for the better. It has been decorated very nicely, lovely initial impression with plenty of parking. Friendly welcome by the staff upon our arrival who showed us to our table in a very prompt manner. We were allowed a good amount of time to view the menu and our drinks order was taken early on and delivered quite quickly. Between our party of six, we ordered/covered a few sections of the menu. Several starters were ordered, our selection was the cheeseburger rolls, Mac and cheese bites, halloumi fries, garlic toast and a child’s garlic bread. These were delivered nice and quick and piping hot. The mains we ordered were the BBQ sharing plate, double cheeseburger with bacon, half a fried chicken, the flat iron steak and a childs burger meal. Again, very nice, very nice indeed. For dessert we had between us the apple pie, chocolate tree, ice cream and brownies. These were nice and rounded off the meal. To sum up, nice food, friendly staff, but unfortunately, there are some negatives. No drinks menu available and no cocktails, even though cocktails were advertised within the building. Our starters order wasn’t taken down correctly and one part of it was missing, we did point It out and to be fair, we were offered for it to be corrected, but by this time, we had nearly finished our starters, so there was no point. With the mains order, we had to wait a little while for this and the sharing plate had an item missing which again we had to point out, it was delivered to the table, but I feel it wouldn’t of if we hadn’t of raised it. There was also an item unavailable on the sharing plate, which had been substituted, but we were only advised if this, once the food had been delivered. Even though a steak was ordered, no steak knife was delivered with the plate. Thankfully, the steak was cooked well, so the knife on the table was sufficient. When it came to desserts, we waited a very long time for these, plus there were two items on the menu that were not available but we only knew this when we tried to order them. The desserts were, OK, but again, were delivered incorrectly. I must admit, it was busier here than I was expecting for the time and for the day and the staff were very busy, but I feel that the staff that tended to us seemed to be a little inexperienced and unsure of what was expected, hence the mistakes mentioned above. I understand that due to what has happened lately and the hospitality industry has been severely hit, but when a “sharing” platter is delivered you should be asked how many plates you want and not, do you want any plates. You shouldn’t also need to tell the waiting staff what you get with your meal, they should know, but as stated, places are constantly recruiting new staff at the minute, so hopefully, with experience, this will improve. Please don’t get me wrong, the staff were very nice and if they stick it out will be very good . In general, lovely place, lovely food. You’ll enjoy it!

went here today for an early tea with my partner and it was fabulous. staff were so attentive and kind and the food was delish. i ordered the ‘Beer Food’ board for myself not realising how large it was😂 but we were truly stuffed afterwards😂 the patê starter was so yummy and the brie wedges were incredible. massive compliments to the chefs. we will be recommending and we will definitely be back!

We ate here recently and were really impressed with everything. The food was delicious and the amount of choice on the menu is great. The service was great, food was served really quickly and the staff were very friendly. There is a nice atmosphere and the decor is fresh. We will definitely be back to sample some more from the fab menu.

Not only did we wait over an hour for our food, but when it come out, none of the allergy information we told them was taken into consideration- we asked politely for no dressing on the salad and no onions in our burgers and both came out with dressing and onions on. The food was overcooked, the chips hard and the burgers tough. They coated everything in a cheesy sauce which was not mentioned on the menu, otherwise i would not have ordered what i did. Furthermore, there was no calorie information on the menu too- i know not important but personally i would have appreciated it. Slow service and poor food, which was expensive. Would not return.

Fantastic food and friendly staff. The "Martin the Meat" burger was packed with tasty pork belly and the burger patty was full of flavour. The Brisket was nice too as was the chicken thigh, although it wasn't a very big piece. I also had the waffle fries topped with pulled pork. Decent portion and tasty meat again. Really glad I finally got to sample WOTM and it was worth the wait. Definitely a place I'd like to visit again.

Fast food restaurant
McDonald's, the iconic fast-food chain that has stood the test of time, is renowned for its delicious burgers and crispy fries. During a recent visit, I experienced their classic offerings served warm and freshly cooked, including breakfast items. While the food was spot on and the cleanliness of the restaurant was commendable, my interaction with staff could have been better; it seemed like one team member might have had a rough night.
Got the order right first try. Clean McDonald’s, polite staff. Refreshing to see a store run correctly to a high standard when compared with the Chorley branch.

Visited 03/07/2025, ordered via app for collection and when arrived went through drive through. There was quite a long wait time and the app although order confirmed when got to first drive through window was advised to pay again although no issues via app, which left me feeling I was being double charged although staff were polite and said I wouldn’t be, then had to wait quite a while as drive through was busy as service at window was going very slowly, the food order was correct apart from the six drinks that needed straws had none given, which isn’t a rare thing to occur as seems to be endemic of most McDonald’s you visit where the straw seems an after thought and hence why the straws missing and the very slow experience of drive through meant only four stars for the review at this location. On a side note well done McDonalds for bringing the double fillet o fish burger to UK, finally options I can go for as none of the burgers are either kosher or halal, the vegan burger isn’t anything to write home about 🤷🏽‍♂️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Was desperate for coffee while visiting the vue, thier coffee machine was down so i came here.. the place stank, anyway i thought im just getting a coffee, i waited over 5 mins while the staff were messing about, about 6 of them , i had yo shout out for staff to serve me , thier card machine was broke anyway ordered on the larger screen. Whilst waiting another customer was also getting frustrated waiting. What made it worse that there was a dirty bucket at the counter as well as the bad smell. Disgusting

Ordered for delivery, half the order: 2 fries, a burger and dips were all missing, quick delivery but freezing cold. Don't know why we bothered, always give them the benefit of the doubt and its always awful. I really don't understand how difficult it is to read an order and put it all in the bag... my advice, just dont don't do it.

Typical for a maccys. The food was as it always is, we had table service and it was warm and obviously freshly cooked (we had breakfast items). Sadly the girl that brought the food to us looked like she'd had a heavy night before. Very sullen and virtually no words or interaction. While we all have bad days the service industry should recognise a people person or a non people person and allocate someone more apt to the role. We were missing a drink which was done just not brought with the order.

DIARRHOEA After meal!! It is the only meal I had eaten all day, I’ve tried ringing store no reply. I politely asked if the cleaner could wipe our table! Floor extremely dirty. We both enjoyed our food for what it is, shopping and just wanted something quick. I shall contact food standards

I recently visited the McDonald’s at Middlebrook and was shocked by what I saw. A customer returned their food to the counter, and instead of disposing of it immediately, staff placed it back under the heat lamps as if it was going to be served to someone else. This is a serious food safety concern and completely unacceptable. I pointed this out to a staff member, and she said, “I was going to bin it, I’ve just put it there for a minute.” Why would you do that? Surely returned food should be thrown straight in the bin without hesitation.

Indian restaurant
Spice Valley Horwich Authentic Indian Restaurant is a contemporary dining destination that beautifully marries traditional Indian cuisine with a modern ambiance. Guests can enjoy watching skilled chefs prepare their meals in an open kitchen, adding an interactive element to the dining experience. The restaurant caters to various dietary preferences, offering a range of vegetarian options and even a special kids' menu, making it perfect for family outings.
I'm actually reviewing the Cooking Class experience, not the restaurant itself. We had an absolutely brilliant time. We booked in for a 2 hour class and it was just the two of us. The chef demonstrated everything and then we had a go ourselves. His English wasn't fantastic (although considerably better than my Indian 😂) but there was someone else there to talk us through it all. We made onion bhajis, chicken Rogan Josh, pilau rice and garlic and coriander naans - enough to feed at least 4 people. We were really well looked after, made to feel really welcome and had a lot of fun. I was a little concerned before I went about how they would deal with hygiene. I needn't have worried - they were absolutely on top of it throughout! They supplied us with aprons and chefs hats, notebook and pens and we could keep all of those at the end of the session. We even got a certificate for completing the class. It gave us the confidence, some knowledge and the desire to have many more attempts at making Indian food from scratch. We even got to take all of our food home to feed us and the rest of the family. All in all, I can't recommend it highly enough - we had a fantastic time and felt it was great value for money. If you like Indian food and fancy a go at learning to make it or if you just fancy a really fun time with a friend - book a class!

Lovely food . Service was good. Just not enough . Portions were very small for the price . Sunday Brunch option. It was very quiet too as it was Sunday afternoon. No issues at all with that . As I said there just wasn't enough. This was the view of the whole party also. 6 x adults 3 Men / 3 women.

I’ve been going for years on and off but I feel I have to warn people away from this place based on their food or encourage them to bring their food to a higher standard. It was an awful curry which tasted of nothing, and made me feel dreadful like it was thickened with flour instead of actual ingredients. Shame really, used to be good food but I could genuinely get better from a super market. The service and people are still good but the curry is not worth the money. Never mind, plenty of other places to eat. Nice enough people, not good enough food. I won’t be going again until I hear different

Held a celebration for my Mum who has recently passed away. Sanjeev and his team made sure everything went smoothly, all the guests were very impressed with the food, there was plenty of it. I highly recommend Spice Valley for a special event or just a meal in the restaurant, the food is delicious, staff are friendly and professional. What more could you want?

Excellent food and service. They have a vegan and a vegetarian menu, you can see the chefs cook the food too. The mixed vegan starter was divine, some of the best onion bhajis I’ve had in a long time. I asked for the aloo gobi to be hot and it was just right, spicy hot! rich flavours and high quality vegetables cooked to perfection. And a choice of breads too! The staff were welcoming, the tables had a great vibe, lighting and a high end feel to the converted church. There was a mistake in the missing chips/rice, which was fine as the portions were plenty, which they billed us for but they removed this when informed. It was good value for money either way. We had a good customer service experience over all and will be back for more in the future.
Maverick F — Google review
The first time I visited I found the food quite bland and thought the service was quite poor - restaurant was pretty much empty yet we had to ask for poppadoms and ask to take our food order. I visited again on NYE and one word - atrocious! Service was extremely slow, but the restaurant was busy so understandable however, the food was appalling. The food was extremely bland - had no taste whatsoever. The worst part of all - I ordered paneer tikka for my starter and it was like chewing rubber. I took a bite and looked inside and it was yellow/brown, could tell it hadn’t been cooked properly. Definitely won’t be returning to this place!

Easter holidays & keeping my 5 year old boy entertained i came across a post on Facebook for ninja warriors decided to give it a try, so after a few attempts on line to book not excepting payment I rang venue spoke with a lovely woman who sent me link via email still not working rang back spoke to a pleasant male member of staff explained situation and previous call who very kindly booked places so not to lose them and told me to pay on arrival all this went to plan and was hassle free on the day. The venue was busy as expected in school holidays but very organized, lots of staff members constantly watching the children and checking around all the inflatables. The venue isn't massive but very well planned out which maximizes the space. There is a Cafe on site for food and drinks we didn't eat on this occasion but drinks were the price you would expect to pay and not very over price like some venues, my boy loved it and spent the 2 hour slot enjoying himself and didn't want to leave overall this is a great place I would recommend and will definitely visit again.

My daughter accidentally booked the wrong time slot online. I tried to call them to change it but the calls were diverted to voicemail saying they were closed when they were actually open. I called about 5 times and left 2 voicemails. In the end I purchased an additional slot for the right time. When they eventually called me back they refused to refund me as the have a 'no refund policy'! The manager, Jen, was rude, obnoxious, arrogant and continuously spoke over me, she would not listen to what I wanted to discuss with her and couldn't have been any more unhelpful. How can you manage a venue like that when you have absolutely zero customer service or even social skills. I emailed them and, to date, I have not had a reply from Adrian, the owner or any of his staff. I hope the money they have stolen from me goes towards some staff training because it's very much needed. Would NOT recommend you spend your money with this shambles of a company.

Shocking again. Last time. Member of staff questions me on the mats while I'm looking for my autistic child who I can't see and have gone to check on. Told I must go to reception and get a wrist band to be on the mats. Then told at reception that I have to buy the correct shocks despite me explaining I had no intention of playing and would just need to do a check if I couldn't see him to check he's OK. Manager hid on the phone while young member of staff was told what to say. Staff all wearing sports socks on mats, not the ones I was told to buy. Never again. Shameful treatment and terrible service.

I understand you have to be 14 to be left on your own but when my daughter and her friends had already paid to find out one friend was 13 so they couldn't go in. No signs in the entrance or near the till to say no refunds . So wouldn't let them in . For one child this was all the money he had . Luckily another parent could come so they could eventually go in. Needs more printed signs ,as not all people go on the Internet before coming .

Amazing time, great atmosphere, and a really good workout. The only issue was the food. We paid for a birthday party and Jak was the perfect host, however the food was not worth the price we had to pay. They also sold us on free returns with the upgrade to our birthday package, what they failed to mention is that the return is only for an hour, not the two hours we paid for.

Google doesn't half ask for some odd reviews. Here we go, the car park itself has spaces were you can park your car. They are divided up by white lines that are painted onto the Tarmac. It is mean to operate on a one way system. It is probably square in dimensions. There are disability bays. There are shops around it. It's truly a fascinating thing to behold 🙂

It's was ok but you can tell standards are slipping. Giant swing removed but the framework still present, 1 of the adult swing seats is in desperate need of replacing, and the rope climber that used to spin no longer spins unless your the hulk. The council has been totally neglecting the kids play are in favour of putting more teen/adult gym equipment in the park instead.

Went to watch the performance of blackadder on Tuesday night and it was soooo good. I've never seen any of the TV show so at no point did I have any idea what was happening but I had a blast! The theatre itself is really cute too. Thanks for a great experience!

Nice place but there was a strange high pitched buzzing in the theatre that upset my teenage daughters ears

We were very pleasantly surprised by this lovely little theatre. The play, Gaslight, was excellent and a great big 'well done' to the actors, who were wird perfect and so very professional. A great night was had by myself, my husband and my friends. Looking forward to the next visit.

Bolton Steam Museum, situated in Bolton, Greater Manchester, England, is a captivating destination showcasing a diverse collection of preserved steam engines and machinery from Britain's industrial revolution. The museum offers an intriguing glimpse into the history and mechanics of steam engines, making it an engaging visit for history enthusiasts and mechanical engineering aficionados alike. With well-maintained exhibits and clear pathways for accessibility, it provides a must-see experience for those interested in the fascinating world of steam-powered machinery and industrial history.
Absolutely lovely Museum, as good a museum as you will ever visit! We attended on one of their steam days and it was like stepping back in time. Everything is so well maintained and it's brilliant having everything on full display so you can easily view the engines and machines. Staff couldn't do enough for you as well. Cafe upstairs is good as well.
Daniel B — Google review
The Bolton Steam Museum has a fascinating collection of mill steam engines in working order. On a number of steaming days throughout the year they are operated with steam from the adjacent boiler house. There are plenty of interactive displays explaining their history and scale models showing how the engines work. Entrance is free but donations can be made. I spent a couple of fascinated hours here and can highly recommend it.
Richard W — Google review
I loved visiting this little gem, fascinating, suitable for young and old alike, what a fabulous place, so proud of all the volunteers who obviously keep the mill functioning, what would we do without them. Free entry but well worth a donation x
Eleanor W — Google review
Really friendly staff, he kindly showed me around and explained all the nuts and bolts about steam engines even though I was by myself. Highly recommended.
Takuto S — Google review
Incredible place run by friendly knowledgeable volunteers. I’ve been wanting to visit for a while and finally found the chance, just wish I’d visited sooner. Lots to see and learn. John kindly explained some of the engines and certainly knew his stuff. A real credit to the place, together with all the other volunteers on the floor and behind the scenes. It’s good people like those volunteers that fill me with pride of our country and its creations. We are lucky to have a wonderful museum in the north west and long may it continue. I hope the children and schools of Bolton visit so they can learn about what their ancestors worked on and the glory days of the Industrial Revolution. I’ll be back.
Paige O — Google review
Fantastic. Such a great place. Well laid out, good info boards, quite a few interactive displays and friendly and knowledge staff. Great to see the engines in such fabulous condition and working on the bank holiday we went. A jewel to find. And best of all, it was free. Clean toilets on site, small shop selling drinks and sweets.
Tim B — Google review
This place needs more visitors you don’t need to pay to get in but there is a donation box places like this are hard to keep mainting! Spent about and hour an half and very informative.

He's a beautiful and fascinating Hall on the outskirts of Bolton a lovely little gem fascinating to go around and with the wealth of History for all Harry Potter fans there is even a recipe for butterbeer which I have posted

Another amazing house in the Bolton area which incidentally is free of charge. It sends to open on the days when Smithills hall is closed. It is the home of the Cromptons who invented the spinning Jenny.

Very interesting historical home with the history of the spinning jenny and lots of old artefacts. Well worth a visit but check the times as it has limited opening. It's free to visit and also good place to take kids.

Pizza Takeout
Pizza Hut is a beloved dining destination that caters to pizza lovers everywhere, offering a delightful mix of Italian-American cuisine. Whether you're in the mood for classic pepperoni or something unique like New York Hot Dog Pizza, there's something for everyone. Their menu also features scrumptious pasta dishes, chicken bites, and even sweet treats like cookie dough. Plus, you can enjoy unlimited salad to complement your meal!
Simply lovely , food was hot and tasty and quick delivery

AVOID! Decided to try Pizza Hut delivery as we’d not had it for years, huge mistake! Food was nearly an hour and a half late and was stone cold and inedible. Wished we’d have checked the reviews first to avoid ordering. We contacted customer care who sent us a £10 gift voucher to spend at Pizza Hut. Not bad compensation considering we spent £42! I don’t think we’ll be making use of their “gesture”
Bella R — Google review
Spent £56 on pizzas for a children's birthday party. The pizzas arrived all upside down and squashed. You'd think if you're working at a well known pizza store that you'd know how to package the pizzas. Rang the store and they were not helpful.
Imran A — Google review
Terrible customer service! We ordered a pizza with two toppings and it arrived with only one. When we called to ask them to rectify it the man we spoke to was rude, unwilling to listen to us and was adamant the order came through with only one topping, despite our order confirmation showing otherwise. He said there was nothing he could do and refused to do anything about it. Absolutely dreadful customer service and I’m very disappointed by our experience. In contrast, if there has ever been an issue with Dominos they’ve sent a replacement plus a free side, no questions asked.
C S — Google review
Been using these guys for years never have any complaints however yesterday ordered two large pizzas and now me and my partner have food poisoning. Not happy at all. Service and staff are friendly as usual but unfortunately the pizzas although tasted decent the results are not great.
Ibraheem K — Google review
I ordered a pizza and the cheese tasted like rancid cheese. I have bought the same thing at other restaurants and it is not the same. It seems like they used cheese that was in bad condition. The driver was very kind, but the food was so unpleasant that we did not eat it.
Shuck L — Google review
Delivery service ok. Food not too bad but, if I'd had to pay full price, I would probably be peed off. Can get much nicer, locally, for half the price but, as I said, it wasn't too bad.
Wendy I — Google review
Hygiene rating is an issue. Also you can't get out unless they lock the door whilst it's open. So not sure I trust the place tbf.

Nabucco Bar & Restaurant is a delightful culinary gem that promises an unforgettable dining experience. Guests rave about the beautifully presented dishes, from succulent Aberdeen Angus fillet steak to perfectly cooked lamb shank and fresh seafood fettuccini that evokes memories of Milan. The warm welcome from the friendly staff adds to the inviting atmosphere, making every visit feel special. With a dedicated vegan menu and attentive service, Nabucco caters to diverse tastes while maintaining high standards in both food quality and presentation.
What a lovely restaurant! Omg the food is so so beautiful. I had a seafood fettuccini I think and wow, I was literally transported back to when I visited Milan and had a similar dish. The food is beyond fresh and authentic, I actually cannot wait to go there again. My partner had lamb shank, again, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Oh yes and we cannot forget the lovely staff and high class atmosphere. Hell yes I’m coming back here!
Charlotte A — Google review
Overall, me and my friend had a nice evening and I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The service staff were pleasant and attentive . However it was somewhat tainted by my friend having a steak with a peppercorn sauce to which the sauce tasted bizarre and she couldn’t eat it (I tried the sauce and it didn’t taste right). When we went back to the staff on this - very politely- we had the head chef come to our table and make us feel quite small and belittled, for being the ‘first person in his entire career to complain about his sauce’ and that ‘nine other people in the restaurant currently’ (which at the time was very empty - for that comment to feel truthful) were ‘enjoying the sauce without complaints and [were] in fact sending back compliments’. My friend and I, spent £120 between the two of us with a bottle of wine and three courses, so it was not a cheap evening for us and for what we spent, we are not wrong to think that we’d like to enjoy what we ordered. Despite enjoying my meal very much, I’d be somewhat reluctant to head back any time soon due to this incident.

Nabucco is absolutely stunning, 4 of us booked for my sons 24th, (2 of us vegetarian) and everything was perfect. The food and presentation was sublime, perfect size portions and easily on par with high end manchester places. Table service staff were efficient, polite and an absolute credit to you, Well done all round. Highly recommend Nabucco and will definitely be returning. Thankyou for a pleasant evening.

Thank you chef for giving us tasty and beautifully presented dishes on Sunday evening. Six of us really enjoyed all of our meals, Aberdeen Angus fillet steak, lamb shank, monk fish, sirloin steak, chicken asparagus and sea bass. The starters set us up nicely for our mains. Your tomato garlic bread was amazing too. We were given a lovely warm welcome from the waitress with the Irish accent, so nice, sorry I didn't catch your name, but I will next time. Really look forward to that. Everything was beautifully cooked and really tasty. Thank you to all of the staff, you looked after us perfectly.

Very nice restaurant that provides a fantastic clean and vibrant atmosphere. Little extra touches on presentations that stand out. It was fairly quiet on our visit so cannot comment on they're commitment and service whilst busy but im sure they would cope easily. As for the food itself.. go try it. You won't be disappointed.
Shane C — Google review
First time visit for a family celebration, so it was a large party of 11 people. The staff were super attentive, and the food was exquisite. Great menu and a rarity for Italian restaurants that they have a separate vegan menu with plenty of choice. Unearthed a real gem and we look forward to going back again and again.

Carvery
Toby Carvery Bolton is a charming, traditional eatery that specializes in all-day comfort food and carvery-style roast meats. Upon visiting for the first time, guests are often greeted by friendly staff who enhance the dining experience with their helpfulness. The restaurant boasts ample parking space, making it convenient for visitors. The stunning architecture of Toby Carvery Bolton adds to its appeal, making it an attractive venue even for special occasions like weddings.
We were very well looked after by our hosts, we probably outstayed our welcome as we waited for the rest of our party to arrive and then stayed and chatted for a time after we had eaten. But this was never shown by the staff. Food was very nice and service quick. And what a beautiful building. Thank you
Lee C — Google review
We had our wedding here on the 28.09 and it was absolutely perfect from the moment we booked to the day after our wedding day. The building is absolutely gorgeous and there were so many opportunities to capture some beautiful photographs. The function room is absolutely gorgeous and feels very private from the restaurant due to being upstairs with your own bar and toilets. The staff, particularly Becky and Michelle, were amazing during the lead up to the wedding and on the day, listening to our requests and making sure the day ran smoothly. It was a bonus that the room could be dressed the Friday before as we knew everything was ready prior to the day Finally, I want to say a huge thank you for the service and quality of the food + we had a three course wedding breakfast and an evening buffet. The. Wedding Carvery was gorgeous and all completely fresh and they catered with a 3 course vegan meal for a few members of the party and for someone who is coeliac - all her food was prepared and served separately to avoid any cross contamination. Thank you so much for making our day absolutely perfect ❤️

I never hesitate to make the trip to this carvery (I live in Leyland). The food is always superb, and the location is vastly different than any other carvery I've been to. I can't praise the staff enough. They're always personable, attentive, and go above and beyond. A big thanks in particular go to Becky, Michelle, and Henry for their continued fantastic service!
Nathan G — Google review
My first ever Toby Carvery, I was hesitant because you never know what to expect at new places! But pleased to say everything was hot and fresh and the gent serving carvery was very friendly. The waitresses were all wonderfully pleasant and kind to all customers, hearing them speak to other customers was lovely knowing everyone gets the same personable treatment. The food was great, I went on Monday at 6pm, there were plenty customers but it was a lovely quiet environment and the queues were almost non existent for the carvery itself. Will definitely recommending my family to come here in future!
Elizabeth — Google review

Absolutely stunning building and interior. Friendly, welcoming and attentive staff. Best carvery I have tasted and the kids loved the drinks machine! Would highly recommend
J F — Google review
Don’t waste your money or time going here… we booked for a table of 11 for a birthday, when we arrived we were escorted upstairs to an empty conference room with round tables and no music - it was an embarrassment! We then had to carry food and drinks up and down the two flights of stairs which was a hazard and hard for our elderly family members, the carvery options weren’t swapped when empty, we had to remove hot lids ourselves from behind the empty pots, then to top it off when we were finished the staff actually use an old ASDA trolley to remove your plates and glasses - what an embarrassment this is - and it’s not the cheapest carvery either for this service! It was all really odd, dysfunctional and just an embarrassment all round. We will not be returning and I’d recommend others not to either unless you don’t mind paying to have your food taken away in a supermarket shopping trolley…
Paige F — Google review
We enjoyed a very nice family celebration of our Golden Wedding Anniversary in the Boardroom at The Watermillock on Saturday. The arrangements were flexible, so we could decorate the room ourselves and bring our own music system. The food for the buffet was good, and despite the fact that the restaurant was busy we were very well looked after by Becky and the other Toby staff. Excellent.

Lovan Restaurant is a delightful gem that truly stands out for its commitment to quality and freshness. Upon entering, guests are welcomed by friendly staff who take pride in their craft. One of the highlights is watching the pizza-making process unfold right before your eyes, as they stretch fresh dough and use only top-notch ingredients—no pre-made shortcuts here! The flavors are reminiscent of those found on holiday, with each bite bursting with freshness.
Hot food delivered, nice and fresh soft piza base the garlic bread was a bit to cheesy for me but partner loved it we had pizzas and it's one of the best takeaway pizzas we've had in a long time ...they don't use that cheap nasty cheese to top pizzas 5***** all day long
Denise I — Google review
New to the area, saw the number of positive reviews so figured we would give it a go... Order 1: Arrived nearly 2 hours after ordering (Gone 10pm when ordered about 8:15pm), but taste great so figured we would order again. Order 2: Worse take away pizza I have ever had in my life. Either had been dropped, or driver was careless on bends, as there was more toppings and cheese on the box than the pizza (Okay, slight exaggeration, but photo speaks for itself). Won't be ordering again. Shame really as the pizza tasted great first time around , but service is evidently shocking.

When I visited this establishment I was impressed with the cleanliness of the place. I was greeted by a friendly individual who took my order. My pizza was stretched and made in view of myself which is a nice change when compared to other takeaways. The dough was fresh, none of this premade nonsense. The pizza was excellent: amazing flavour and texture. I can safely say this is one of, or the best pizza establishments in the area.
Christopher B — Google review
I had to leave a review as I was so dissatisfied with the quality of food I received. Sicilia Mia was always my go to for pizza , NOT anymore !! Unaware the place had changed owners, I ordered my usual Tonno e cipolla pizza - tomato, mozzarella, tuna, onion, no chilli oil but extra garlic. What I received was a dry pizza with no tomato, extra thick yellow salty cheese, sparse overly salty tuna with an extreme lack of garlic. I will not be ordering from here again. I am extremely disappointed as the previous owners always delivered on quality, taste and service.
Philip J — Google review
Manager changed - extremely rude and not customer friendly. we had pre-arranged an order and paid a deposit. on the day we had to chase them to only find out they apparently had another big order and no delivery guy available hence pizzas arrived a lot later than scheduled time - on top of this there was no compensation made and the manager wanted us to understand his situation. I would also like to add the quality of the food has significantly reduced … they do not cook the chips properly (undercooked).
Aarav S — Google review
This take away use to be lovely just had a takeaway £37 for 3 dishes and the food was terrible. I think they may have changed owners or chefs, very disappointed. The use to have an amazing bolognaise pizza that is no longer on the menu.
Ashlea C — Google review
Favourite pizza place by far! The pizzas they do are like the ones you can only get on holiday, the ingredients are so fresh and full of flavour. I love how you can watch making them from scratch while waiting for your pizza. It is family run and you can see how much passion they have. The quality is better than most restaurants, I wish they had a seating area to sit in.
