Helston in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in Helston, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Helston is a historic Cornish market town known for its traditional Flora Day celebration, which fills the streets with music, dancing, and springtime decorations each May. Its granite-built streets and old coaching inns give a glimpse of Cornwall’s past, complemented by the Museum of Cornish Life in the old market buildings. Helston also serves as a convenient base for exploring the nearby Lizard Peninsula, including rugged coastal walks and some of Cornwall’s most scenic beaches. Families are often drawn to Flambards Theme Park on the edge of town, which adds a popular attraction for all ages.
With favorites like Parkdean Resorts Sea Acres Holiday Park, Cornwall, Grylls Monument, and Domino's Pizza - Helston, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Henlys Wine Bar & Bistro and Amélie so you can get the best taste of Helston while you’re here. The Cornish Seal Sanctuary is a rescue and rehabilitation center for seals and sea lions, as well as home to otters, penguins, ponies, and goats. It's a dog-friendly attraction where visitors can stroll around with their furry friends on a lead. The sanctuary offers 42 acres of land for exploration, including woodland walks and various amenities for dogs. Visitors can witness animal welfare in action by learning about dramatic rescues and meeting the recuperating marine animals.
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary near Gweek is a really enjoyable and worthwhile day out. We spent a good few hours walking around the different parts of the sanctuary, from The Hospital (no patients on our visit) to the Common Seals and beyond. There are scheduled talks throughout the day in various areas, and feeding times are always a highlight – the seals are truly majestic creatures to watch up close. One thing I found particularly interesting was learning that they no longer run breeding programmes. Although they successfully raised pups, once released many struggled to survive in the wild because they weren’t naturally wary of humans. Instead, the sanctuary now focuses fully on rescue, rehabilitation, and release, which feels much more in line with their mission. It’s clear the whole place is designed around giving injured or vulnerable seals the best chance of recovery and a return to the wild. The staff are knowledgeable and clearly passionate about what they do, which really adds to the experience. As an added bonus, the ticket allows you to return as many times as you like for free within the year after your purchase – great value if you’re local or visit Cornwall regularly. I’d definitely recommend going at least once; it’s a mix of education, conservation, and an enjoyable family-friendly outing. Also, if you book online via Love to Visit, you can get a 20% discount, which is worth checking out. Overall, a lovely and meaningful experience.

Had a couple of trips here during our holiday in Gweek , once you have brought your ticket you can go as many times as you like for a year! Fantastic views here and plenty of places to have a picnic as well as look at the seals and puffins . Didn’t see any beavers in the secret creek but a nice woodland walk to their home . Recommend buying tickets in advance to get a good discount
Tracey P — Google review
Truly a heart warming and wonderful place. The programme they follow to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home the seals is magnificent. If you watch the Puffins long enough they start doing all manor of silly things. Even though the beaver was asleep, to see what they achieve with their forest management skills is amazing. The farm animals are lovely. And the Ancient forest the sanctuary is set on is oozing history. Im excited to come again and see where they have gotten upto with their remodeling of some of the enclosures for the seals. The plans they have on show look needed, beneficial and helpful in the sanctuaries future goals. Highly recommend. Oh...and the gift shops great too!

What a spot! We did the VIP breakfast and Dawson was a fantastic tour guide and the breakfast hit the spot. I would 100% recommend a visit and you could definitely spend a few hours or a morning just wondering around and watching the seals and other wildlife. If your in the area stop in...
Todd B — Google review
Would definitely recommend!! Very sweet to see the seals. And what a beautiful setting to be in. Got to do the quiz whilst we walked around which was a challenge even for us adults!! Lots of parking. We went at 10 am on a Sunday at the end of September. There is a cafe there but we didn't use it. Lots of talks and feeding to watch. Didn't manage to see the beavers unfortunately. Long walk to do and picnic areas. Would be a good half day to a day activity. Kid friendly and wheelchair/ push chair friendly.
K B — Google review
It's a lovely place if you fancy a small day out. You can explore the whole place within a couple hours, which isn't a bad thing especially if you are taking your time or with children. The talks they have are very informative, they have a food and drinks shop located at the centre of the ground, which is also next to the children's play area. Overall I really enjoyed my day out here, it was fun seeing all the seals and other animals having a nice time.
George W — Google review
Fantastic exhibits with great live talks giving insights into the history and day to day activities of the sanctuary. The seals are adorable and full of personality! I loved the nature walk portions where you can fully experience the beauty of Gweek (and maybe spot a few cheeky beavers.)
George K — Google review
I wanted to come here for a while, but holiday days & timings just didn't seem to work out, but this week I finally managed it & I was not disappointed at all. From the warm welcome as you enter, this place just feels so warm & enjoyable as you walk around to meet with the seals, etc. We were able to listen to the talks & experience the fun & joy during the seals feeding time. The team taking care of these animals were helpful, knowledgeable & clearly love their jobs & time spent with them. A great visit & time for us spent walking the park taking photos, plus a well enjoyed cup of tea in the sunshine. Thanks to all the team during our visit, we plan to visit again ASAP.

Scenic Railroads
Helston Railway is a restored heritage railway line operating during summer months, featuring vintage locomotives. The attraction is well-marked with brown tourist signs, and visitors should turn left after the bridge to the farm rather than following Google's directions. The friendly staff, dressed in period costumes, are proud of their work restoring the railway. Two static train carriages serve as a small cafe (indoor or outdoor seating available) and ticket office/shop.
I discovered this place completely by accident. I saw railway carriages serving cream tea ( a big favourite of My Wife's), So would have gone anyway. Once I looked further they do train rides of about 2 miles on a vintage train. Absolutely brilliant. The rude was nostalgic, the volunteers were wonderful & knowledgeable. The cream tea was amazing too. I had a bacon baguette which was equally as tasty. Highly recommend a trip if you're in Cornwall.

We first visited 12 years ago when it was a ten min trip on a brake van and hunter engine. Came back to see what had changed…. the trip is now a little longer in an actual carriage but the compartment we were in with our dog was thick with cobwebs, a good cleaning is needed. Also can be difficult to find if you don’t know where it is as no easily visible signposting.
Vikki W — Google review
What a brilliant little railway this really is. The train ride was great and staff were absolutely brilliant. They were all very friendly and informative too. I really hope they manage to extend to Helston like planned.

A beautiful heritage railway. We were greeted in and informed of a closure on the line so we were charged half price for our ride. The children had a ride with the driver which they absolute LOVED!! Both of them loved tooting the horn at the front. A wonderful morning out for all ages with plenty of interesting history

We are on holiday in the area and have heard of this railway but had never visited until today, was very impressed on how the railway was run by its hard working and friendly volunteers. Had a nice journey up and back down the line , and bought some nice items in the well stocked gift and bookshop. Please support this railway and help them to extend further .

We’ve been twice, firstly with our 8 month old for the Halloween event now 14 month old for the teddy bear ride and loved it. Our daughter absolutely loved it both times. The volunteers are all so friendly and the most helpful people, can’t fault them at all! They make such an effort to ensure you have a great time, it makes all the difference when everyone is so smiley and pleasant. We are locals in Helston and will definitely be returning many more times. Keep up the good work with all the improvements and thank you to the brilliant volunteers!

Porthleven Harbour is a lively Cornish town with a working fishing port, offering visitors the chance to witness boats coming and going while taking a leisurely stroll. The crashing waves during stormy days make for an impressive sight. Despite its small size, the town boasts a variety of excellent dining options and charming shops and galleries.
Paid for parking up near top of the harbour near the supermarket. We worked our way around the shops and galleries , bought a few things , nice tee shirt, mug, salt - the Shipyard market was a nice suprise, small, but had interesting varied crafty things , places to sit eat after purchasing home cooked, thi food, drinks, coffee. We had brunch near the outer harbour. Walking to the end of the pier , walked around the little streets , the beach is long and when the tide is out i believe you can walk over to Looe Bar beach and Lagoon. Stunning scenary. Overall , we loved the town and shops , the beach was lovely. Well worth a visit.

Got a lovely charm about this place. A proper Cornish harbour with stunning views, friendly locals, and a relaxing vibe. Plenty of good local produce, cracking little art galleries, and shops that really support the local community. Perfect spot for a wander, grabbing a bite, or just soaking in the scenery.

A wonderful harbour with many places for crabbing! Lots of shops, pubs & restaurants along the front. During summer, the town band plays by Harbour Inn every Sunday. Every evening, the colouring lights turn on and light up the sea. Highly recommend a mini break here.

Beautiful place to visit was absolutely buzzing with life great vibes , lots of little shops and places to eat and parking is free on a Sunday (after 4pm i believe) great place to take the family for an evening or even lunch time !

A picturesque and pleasant harbour with its iconic and much-photographed Bickford-Smith Scientific Institute clocktower standing sentinel at the eastern end of the harbour. We found the ambience very pleasant all times of the day and the week. There's also an information board with details of a trail around the historic buildings dotted around the harbour. The harbour area also contains nice craft shops, places to eat and pubs. I would certainly recommend visiting this harbour and its surroundings if you visit this part of Cornwall.

Just has a really nice vibe about the place. Not overly touristy. The view out to sea from the harbour is amazing.

Porthleven Beach is a picturesque stretch of sandy coastline located near the charming square harbour of the historic Cornish fishing port of Porthleven. The beach is in close proximity to shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, making it convenient for visitors to enjoy local amenities.
A great beach with lots of picturesque scenery. The beach itself was pretty shingled, however, further down the sand does get softer. As an FYI I would be careful because there are lots of naughty seagulls wanting to steal your food!!
Maryam — Google review
Wonderful beach, perfect for longer walks. Dog friendly (full access after school holidays though).
An B — Google review
I've heard tell this is a good place for storm watching. No storms happened by while I was around but it was a bit breezy, stirring up the odd ripple, which was promising. The course sand/gravel is very pleasant, making an appealing backdrop to the interesting stratified rocks. I'll be back!
Warren P — Google review
Really lovely beach the day we came this time it was closed because of a storm. The location is beautiful as with everything at Porthleven
Happy C — Google review
Lovely beach and worth a visit whilst you are in Porthleven! Beach is quite big so plenty of space and beautiful views. Rocks to climb around on too. Easy to get down on the beach. There's a ramp which has a few steps so worth noting if you have a pushchair or you are disabled. Attached some pictures.
Holly O — Google review
Lovely place, friendly locals. Beautiful old harbour. Plenty of ice cream shops and drinking stops. Stunning photography for sale from local artist. Most of all beautiful scenery. Not a place to go if you are after hustle and bustle or extensive shopping. Parking is a little tricky too, expect some walking but that is a part of the joy of exploring the place.
C S — Google review
Well worth visiting. At the moment you have to eat outside but the food is good at the cafe's. The walks are breathtaking worth while ( coastal ). The people there are very nice too. The bus U4 runs hourly til 5pm from Falmouth to Penzance and back, passing through Porthleven.
Mandy D — Google review
Really quite good. The beach is located close to the shops, cafés, pubs, and restaurants around the harbour so it's easy to walk back for food or a drink then return to the beach later. Access is via a slope or staircase from the road above, the stairs are fairly steep; however, the slope has a fine layer of sand over it and is slippery. The sand is actually fine shingle so great for relaxing on but not for sand castle building etc. The beach almost completely disappears at high tide. The beach at high tide slopes gently into the sea; however, it has a number of small steps in it meaning that at low tide it gets deep very quickly, it is lifeguard patrolled and so long as you follow their advice it's safe to swim. There's definitely 'prettier' beaches in Cornwall but Porthleven beach is hardly ugly and definitely worth going to.

Located in the heart of Helston, Cornwall, the Museum of Cornish Life is housed in historic market buildings and boasts one of the largest collections in Cornwall. With thousands of objects on display, visitors can explore Cornish culture and industry, as well as gain insight into how ancestors lived and worked in the 20th century. The museum offers live sessions on Facebook for a digital collection tour and provides learning and activity ideas for children.
Visited with my kids. Really enjoyed the museum and its very wide variety of objects. The building is long and sloping so is deceptively large. Has great vibe which is a blend of village fete, junk shop and barn find exploration. Enjoyed the corn dolly workshop. Will go again as I’m sure I missed some gems

A treasure trove of memories in this capsule of items from the past. I remember some from my grandparents house and the way they are thoughtfully displayed makes this a very special place. The staff are super friendly and you can even make yourself a brew!
Sarah P — Google review
There’s so much to explore here, and it’s even more impressive than we remembered. Entry is free, though donations are welcomed. We spent a delightful afternoon at the museum. My daughter aged 5 got stuck in with one of the activity sheets and found the whole walk around very interesting. The facility includes toilets, and there’s also a cosy little area inside where you can help yourself to tea and biscuits. They appreciate any donations for this as well.
Peggy P — Google review
A fantastic overview of Cornish life for all ages, free entry and could spend hours there between the exhibits, the children's play area, and the moving diorama (save your 20ps up, but front desk will happily change for you). A wonderful hidden gem that we will be back to again and again.

An excellent museum with well laid-out exhibits, painstakingly arranged and very interesting. (These few pictures nowhere near do it justice.) The staff are friendly and there is no charge for entry; you make a donation if you wish.

Flambards Theme Park in Helston offers an exhilarating experience for thrill-seekers with its array of big rides, including rollercoasters and log flumes, as well as gentler options like the Teacups and Space Shuttles. The park also features attractions such as the Dino Express and go-karts. Families can enjoy picnic spots throughout the park.
Flambards Theme Park, located in Helston, Cornwall, is a family-friendly attraction that offers a mix of rides, historical exhibits, and entertainment. It is particularly popular with families and younger children, though it also provides enjoyment for all ages. The park features a range of rides, from gentle attractions for toddlers to more thrilling rides for older kids and adults, including roller coasters and water rides. One of its standout features is the Victorian Village and Britain in the Blitz exhibitions, which are immersive and detailed historical recreations, offering an educational aspect to the park that I really enjoyed. Flambards is known for its friendly staff and clean facilities, and I appreciated the combination of traditional theme park fun with the added cultural exhibits. While some may find the selection of rides more suited to younger children than thrill-seeking teens, the park's mix of activities ensures there is something for everyone. Overall, Flambards Theme Park is praised for being a well-rounded destination with a good balance of entertainment, history, and family fun, making it a popular day out in Cornwall.
Oghenehero B — Google review
Ah Flambards! What trip to Cornwall would be complete without a visit here!? Is it stuffed full with rides? Nope, but it doesn't need to be! It's lowered it's prices because many of the big rides are no longer running, couple big ones remain and lots of smaller ones, a great place to visit for under 12s I'd say. Where you really get your moneys worth is the big soft play area with decent hot food and friendly staff, the victorian streets area is awesome, we loved it and the blitz area is really interesting too! A half day out, and a very good one at that!
Geoff S — Google review
I think its great how they have cheaper days so you can just visit the Victorian village and indoor attractions, £8 on I think Tuesday and Thursday it was perfect for us as we don't like rides so would have paid well over the odds just to stay inside I think its £22 on the other days, I have to say the Victorian Village was absolutely amazing I loved it, it truly felt like you had gone back in time and was walking the street past all the shops they were all so detailed with real props we had an excellent time I honestly can't believe how good it was, I hope I can go back again soon and I highly recommend a visit just to see these indoor exhibits, the ladies in the shop after were fantastic really knowledgeable about all off it and seemed passionate about the collection she was even kind enough to find some penny's from the penny press for me as it was out of order and I'm an avid collector! Excellent experience 👏
Kay — Google review
It's small, but good for smaller kids and indoor play is included, but was a little disappointing for my elder daughter as there weren't many rides suitable for her, but it's also not any where near as expensive as other similar places. Would we go again? Yes, knowing exactly what it is, it's worth it. My younger girls loved it!
Sergio A — Google review
Well, we’re can I start……. Absolutely fantastic brilliant place. I had read some reviews that it was “dated” etc, but I found this place extremely well manicured and looked after, it was a very pleasant surprise. The rides were fantastic for all ages and my kids absolutely loved their day out, as did I!!! Not much ques at all for the rides the kids were absolutely delighted. Spotless clean park, the rides in great order and all the staff were lovely people. I and my family will definitely be back and anyone I know on holiday down these parts I will make sure they know about this place. 10/10
Conner R — Google review
Great little theme park with some little rides for the little ones and a few bigger rides for the older ones. Lots of information about the exhibits there and a wonderful Victorian town recreation, so things for people of all ages. There is also access for wheelchairs everywhere and a very good accessable changing room. The staff were great and the atmosphere was excellent.

Went with the grandchildren, ages 14-7 They loved it. It's not the cheapest place to visit but it appears to be well worth the money if you decide to go. There really ia something for every taste and age. They offer cheaper family tickets and a free return ticket. Often the local paper has vouchers, particularly during school holidays, to get discounted entry. Definitely worth picking up a "Cornishman" or similar if you are visiting the area
Vikki S — Google review
I was having low expectations here after looking at the recent bad reviews at this place. But this very tiny theme park is actually pretty lovely and fun! My favourite rides here were the log flume and the drop tower! Their only rollercoaster was closed, probably for maintenance. The go karts were an extra £5. I wasn't a big fan of the bumper cars and the waltzer here though and they didn't offer enough food options here though. But I mostly had a fun time! I also find it weird how it's dog friendly especially since it's a theme park. Overall, I highly recommend it!

Parkdean Resorts Sea Acres Holiday Park in Cornwall is a popular choice among holidaymakers, offering an affordable option for families. Situated near Kennack Sands beach, the park provides stunning coastal views and easy access to the picturesque surroundings. Guests praise the friendly reception staff and well-maintained accommodations. The park features family-friendly facilities including a play park for children and a swimming pool with rotating sessions. Accommodation options range from smaller units to luxurious ones, catering to various preferences and budgets.
SEA ACRES – A Peaceful Coastal Escape Sea Acres is a beautiful place to visit—ideal for a peaceful break with lovely surroundings and even lovelier staff. The caravans are beautiful and well-kept, providing a cozy stay. We had a small issue with the heating, but Julie from housekeeping quickly radioed it in, and within 10 minutes, Steve the repairman arrived and fixed it. Super efficient service! The beach is just a 10-minute walk down a gentle hill. At the bottom, you're greeted by two friendly locals running a small shop and a restaurant. The return walk takes about 20 minutes uphill, but it's manageable. You can drive down, though I wouldn't recommend it—the road is narrow, and the car park further up from the official one could really use an upgrade. There’s a pay-to-park option closer to the beach. The beach itself is clean with absolutely stunning views—definitely one of the highlights. Bonus: Toilets (photo) makes it better to enjoy. A few tips: Stock up on groceries before arriving—the nearest large supermarket (Sainsbury's) is a 20-minute drive away. Drive carefully: The approach roads are narrow country lanes, and driving at night can be tricky due to the lack of street lighting and the fast-driving locals who know the roads well. Best for small families: The on-site clubhouse is just the right size, with a small restaurant, arcade, and entertainment room for both kids and adults. Overall, Sea Acres is perfect if you're after tranquility, natural beauty, and a slower pace with just the right amount of amenities. We Will visit again.

This was our first time staying at a caravan park, so we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. We found Sea Acres Holiday Park in Kuggar, Cornwall, on the Parkdean Resorts website. It was important to us that the location was fairly close to the beach and pet- and child-friendly — and in those respects, Sea Acres met our expectations. The park is located on a cliff with a beautiful sea view. It takes about 10–15 minutes to walk down to the beach, or you can drive and use the car park located at the bottom. The park offers a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, golf course, mini-golf, shop, laundry facilities, a dog wash station, and plenty of playgrounds — which we really appreciated. Since it was our first time booking a caravan, we made a small mistake by not realizing that selecting the pet-friendly option changes the type of accommodation — resulting in a slightly lower standard. That said, our caravan was still very pleasant and had a sea view, which made morning coffee especially enjoyable. It was located close to both the beach and the golf course. Another great feature was the veranda with a table and chairs and a gate that could be closed — which was very convenient with children and a dog. The only downside I would like to point out is the cleanliness standard. As a dog owner, I’m particularly mindful of keeping my home clean and free of pet odors. Unfortunately, upon entering the caravan, it was immediately noticeable that dogs had stayed there before — the smell was quite strong, which suggests that the cleaning was not as thorough as it should have been. There were also a few minor issues such as not fully clean dishes, occasional cobwebs, and some hairs. These things can happen, of course, but ideally, they should be noticed and addressed by the cleaning staff before the next guests arrive. Overall, Sea Acres Holiday Park is a quiet and well-equipped place, perfect for a family holiday with children and pets. Despite a few small issues, we had a positive experience and would consider returning in the future.

We stayed at Parkdean Sea Aces for 4 nights during the final week of the Easter holidays (Wales). The views are absolutely stunning, the cabins were clean and comfortable, and the surrounding small towns were charming and well worth exploring. However, there were quite a few disappointments. The crazy golf was laughably small and not worth the asking price. The swimming pool was just okay — nothing memorable. The soft play area for kids was tiny, roughly the size of a caravan, and the outdoor parks were similarly small and uninspiring. As for the kids' entertainment, it was so underwhelming that our children didn’t want to return after the first day. Kids age 3 and 6) The internet situation was another major letdown. While 2Mbps is offered for free, it's nowhere near good enough for streaming. You can pay extra for a 20Mbps connection, but even that is unreliable when multiple devices are connected — a frustrating and outdated approach considering how affordable good broadband has become elsewhere. If you're planning to stream or rely on internet access, what Parkdean offers is simply insufficient and borders on misleading, especially when they advertise up to 10 devices being supported. That said, if you don’t have young kids or aren't fussed about needing attractions or entertainment, this place could be a lovely, peaceful getaway.

We stayed in a beautifully located caravan. The staff were very accommodating. The caravan itself was very clean. The mattress could’ve been better quality and a little bit firmer in the middle. Lots of nice views and stocked with all of the necessary utensils to cook with. We were situated over the road from the main camp so it was nice and quiet but the arrangement of the caravans meant we were overlooked quite a bit into the living room. Some basic net curtains would alleviate this issue completely. I would definitely come down again.

Nice quiet location. Our caravan was on the site across the road with no parking adjacent the caravan. The car park for this location is small & tight with only just enough spaces for people staying. But caravans are well appointed, warm, clean with everything you'll need. Fantastic views across the landscape early morning & nice convenient walk down to the beach. Will definitely come again.

Amazing site, very clean and well kept. Staff helpful. Caravan was clean and fresh, great views. Walk down to the beach was easy, it was just the walk back up the hill. Very dog friendly, even have a dog wash, dog friendly beach with only a few restrictions.

I couldn't fault it went over may half term the place was spotless and comfy beds. They looked like the recently added new outdoor play areas. Close to the beach. The staff were lovely and treated the kids (they did mini golf super quickly so were looking for their ball which gets taken at the last hole and the man brought them out some new ones, the lifeguard got out the inflatables when they got bored of the jet skis (paid activity)) and interacted with them. Decent evening entertainment for them and they make sure the kids are all involved.

The bar offers a selection of Cornish beers and ciders, making it a great place to unwind and enjoy local flavors. While the menu may not be extensive, the meals are described as tasty and satisfying. Visitors have noted that the staff is attentive and welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience at Henlys Wine Bar.
When we first walked in was lovely atmosphere and lovely service Starter: Prawns- 7/10 If it had a sweet chilli dip would of been 10/10 Chorizo and hallumi kebab- 8/10 Seasoning on the salad was good and good presentation too. But I do think the hallumi chunks should have been fried a little bit longer. Good portion size Wait time: good. 10/15mins in between each course Main: Thai green chicken curry- 9/10 Rice is a bit too moist Loads of chicken wich was amazing and the flavour was perfect Rather than prawn crackers should of had Thai crackers Burger-9/10 Perfect apart from maybe only searing the inside of the burger bun rather than the outside to Chips were perfect The Asian Salad was amazing bit too spicy for my liking but without the sauce it was perfect and is perfect with the sauce I just can’t handle spicy food haha Desert: Sticky toffee pudding:8/10 Was perfect absolutely amazing, though the sauce wasn’t that hot Vanilla cheesecake:7/10 Amazing flavor but too much clotted cream and the base was very hard to get out the glass but apart from that amazing!! Server:John- he was so lovely and had sych a great friendly personality Hazelnut latte- 10/10 Was ment to tip but panicked. We ate all the food loved it so much 100% go again Prices was good aswell Thank you for a great evening John

No atmosphere at all, food was terrible to say we were the only 2 people in there at 4:30, after a 45minute wait the food arrived, i had a fish pie with hardly any fish in it, 1 overcooked prawn and chewy calamari, my partner had the bacon and cheese burger, the bun was stale and the chips were raw, we complained to be told the chef had only cooked the chips once (they were meant to be twice cooked) so we waited for the chips to be re cooked- they came out again after another 10 minute wait.. low and behold still raw! Goes without saying we paid and couldnt get out of there quick enough, just seemed no care or attention, sorry guys avoid

A lovely venue, polite staff and good food - the trouble was that it took so very long to arrive! We were the fifth and sixth people in the restaurant and yet it took 45 minutes after ordering for our food to show. Another gripe is the menu - initially the prices seem very reasonable, until you notice a ‘supplement’ charge on half the main courses. The supplement is an additional cost on top of the listed menu price, meaning the food doesn’t actually fall under the price category it appears to. The food is not overpriced, but the way of listing it feels deceptive. It’s a shame because as mentioned, the atmosphere and food itself were lovely.

Having visited Henlys last summer when we were in the area, we were pleased to see there was a themed Spanish night for our visit this year. The complimentary sangria on arrival was a lovely touch and very tasty, then the three course meal was delicious! You can tell a lot of thought went into each of the dishes, everyone at our table loved theirs - with a special mention for the feather blade steak which was lovely. The recommended wine pairings also went down a treat. Staff were very friendly and there was a great atmosphere both upstairs in the restaurant and downstairs in the bar. We will definitely be back to Henlys on our next trip to Cornwall.
Louisa O — Google review
The Spanish omelet and spicy chicken arrabbiata were excellent. The pizza had a very generous amount of tomato sauce, and the balance of cheese and chicken was perfect. The service and staff behavior were outstanding. They definitely deserve 5 stars!

To start, the food and drinks here was amazing, I ordered a steak and my girlfriend ordered a seafood linguini, both were cooked to perfection! The drinks really did it for me and not to mention the two for £12 deal is great! The staff were really friendly and even offered great recommendations for the rest of our holiday, I would definitely come here again! The only downside is parking, we luckily got street parking but it would be nice to have dedicated parking!

We visited Henlys while on holiday in Cornwall. We went on a Tuesday evening and they had a special offer on 2 basket meals for 12 quid. It was quiet in the bar area and we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. They offer a choice of Cornish beers and cider, I had a pint of Korev and my wife chose a large glass of white wine. For our meal I had the chicken wings and my wife had the chicken strips, both of these were basket meals. Our son chose baked cod off the specials menu. All 3 meals were very tasty. Me and my son had deserts, he had a chocolate fondant, which he enjoyed very much, and I had the lemon tart, which was excellent. We all enjoyed our experience that much we booked for the following evening for the 2 x steaks for £50. (I'll review that later).

Seafood restaurant
Amélie is a charming waterside restaurant located in Porthleven, offering a variety of dishes including locally caught fish and shellfish, as well as burgers and grills cooked in a wood-fired oven. The restaurant has garnered positive reviews for its seafood, pizza, and British cuisine. Situated at Breageside Quay on Mount Pleasant Road, Amélie provides a delightful dining experience with its scenic waterside setting.
This places looked so lovely when we walked past that we booked for the evening and we were so glad we did. We were made to feel so welcome and were sat at a brilliant table overlooking the harbour. The food was really first class, the atmosphere and decor spot on and the service warm, friendly and at just the right pace.

Absolutely amazing food. Casual, easy to understand menu. Lovely staff. On a detailed note: I have never seen flaky salt presented on the table in a mini open ramekin. I absolutely love it. It highlights quality. But I sincerely hope these are changed over after every table as there may be some hygiene concerns for others. 100% recommend for great and fresh seafood and generous portions. Restaurant gets quite busy at peak times and are recommended to reserve ahead of time.

Had a very nice meal here for my partner's birthday. I had popped in earlier to ask that we were seated in the conservatory but was told that although I had a booking they could not say where it would be. In reality that is where we were seated in a pretty quiet evening for the restaurant. There were several items on the menu that were unavailable but that did not stop us finding things we liked.

We loved it so much we came back twice on our short break. Gorgeous food, lovely staff and amazing views! Keep doing what you’re doing Amelies!

Beautiful little restaurant overlooking the harbour in Porthleven. The food was good but the squid starter needs to be removed from the menu as it was 80% beer batter and 20% squid that was also like rubber from a car tire. We were very disappointed with the squid as we expected fresh squid since we are right next to a harbour full of fishing boats!
Teague R — Google review
Was passing on a drizzly day and noticed a dog sitting in the conservatory. Not wanting to eat elsewhere outside with our dog we called in for lunch. Was disappointed with the red onion hummus which lacked flavour. The crab linguine and seafood chowder had plentiful amounts of seafood but spoilt by being smothered in cream.

Beautiful place awful food would not recommend. Went twice, first time food was average and slightly bland, they tool over 40min to serve although there were only 4 tables taken. Second time they never brought the side of fries until dessert, they forgot my watermelon on my “watermelon halloumi tartar” and the fish soup had an extra long hair in it. Yikes.

Pretty harbour-side restaurant in the gorgeous setting of Porthleven. Amelie is dog friendly which is a huge bonus 😁 We arrived just before dinner service started, the weather turned so we just wanted to duck in somewhere. Overall was good, but food was fairly average to be honest. We didn't have any seafood, so perhaps the experience is better with that included in your order 🤷🏻‍♀️

Came here with my partner for a Sunday roast, got here late but the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. One girl in particular who was really accommodating and friendly. The roast was amazing, couldn't even finish it and had to take home in a box. My partner really enjoyed his Camden Town IPA also. Really busy with a nice local atmosphere, great views with live music and dog friendly which is an absolute must. Will definitely be back again. Thank you.

What a great find in a backstreet of Porthleven with that perfect seat & view out to sea during the day, early evening or to watch the sunset with a loved one & a few cold local ales. From the warmest of welcomes to the establishment from the staff, the choices of ales etc, we were made to feel right at home, so a few more visits were taken during our stay. Thanks to the team, we plan to return ASAP.

Subway is a relaxed fast-food franchise where customers can customize their own sandwiches and salads. The menu offers health-conscious choices, including fresh options for breakfast such as baps, sarnies, and breakfast in a box. The sandwiches are made to order with an assortment of fillings, giving customers the liberty to choose according to their preferences. Additionally, homemade cakes and fillings are available on the menu. Subway also provides delivery services for nearby businesses.
Me, my girlfriend and our toddler came into the subway today and despite it being boxing day and they were close to closing, they stayed open to serve us all. Lizzie and Alex were both amazing and very friendly with us and our little one which created a great atmosphere. There was loads of ingredients still available including bread so had plenty to choose from despite the time and day. All orders were made very quickly and were all correct, cannot fault the service we received. Really recommended this subway over any others.

Two people Infront of me and I've been stood here 20 minutes, girl behind the sandwiches is in no rush at all, takes more time putting on a new pair of gloves every minute than she does on serving. and her helper out the back hasn't done anything to hurry her up either. Can fit two sandwiches at a time in the toaster. Customer in front of mes sandwich had fallen apart before she even got given it, I wouldnt have accepted it. I just popped in to grab lunch, didn't expect to be here this long. Sort it out!!! Actually embarrassingly bad, could have gone round the counter myself and made it faster and better. Jeez

Day 2

Proximity is everything
For day 2, we bundled attractions like Poldark Mine & The Cornish National Heritage Collection and Cober Valley (The Moors) and other places within a close range, so that the time it takes to travel between all of them is less than one hour. Poldark Mine & The Cornish National Heritage Collection is a captivating destination that takes you on an underground adventure into the heart of Cornwall's tin mining history. This 18th-century mine, famously featured in the Poldark television series, offers guided tours that explore its fascinating past and the techniques used by miners. As you navigate through the depths of Wheal Roots, you'll gain insight into the origins of tin mining while being surrounded by authentic machinery and equipment displayed in the adjacent museum.
Went last year but hey ho. I know this is a tin mine but one grandad used to be a coal miner so my interest to visit was high. Staff were friendly, parking was good and it was highly educational too. defo worth a visit.

Place was run to the ground by previous owner, however new owner is trying to turn it around. Certainly wasn't as I remembered it as a child but Luke the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and the tour was worth it. No cameras, lighters, electrical items or bags allowed in the mine. Also suitable footwear needed.
Paul B — Google review
VERY, VERY SAD to see this mine closed due to the greed of the mega-rich landowners using some ancient law. They are getting nothing now, all they have achieved is to deprive everyone else of a great heritage site, one of the best Cornish Mining sites I have visited, when it was open. They all tried their best to keep it open.
Ewan B — Google review
If you have an interest in Cornish history then you need a great mine tour, and Poldark Mine is the place to go to when the weather above ground is less than fabulous. Be aware to check tour availability before you go, also is a tad pricey, although our own Prince Charles should accept some responsibility for that!
Sean L — Google review
We visited here while on a break to Cornwall. We took the museum tour rather than the mine tour. Thankfully the people in the ticket office recommended that we could join in with the mine tour people who were seeing an introductory video but I guess this was more serendipity with timing than anything else so don’t expect it upon your visit. The museum had an interesting history of the site and the mine, mainly covering the boom & interest from the 70/80s version of Poldark. But it was rather cluttered and more could possibly done with less items. It may be worth asking for a guide to describe some of the exhibits in the museum. Given the recent popularity in The recent Poldark series, I Would probably recommend to people in order to visit and support this, but probably needs to declutter and tidy up the museum.
Chris D — Google review

T J — Google review
WELL THE OWNERS REPLY BELOW WAS SOME WHAT PREDICTABLE 😂🤣😂 OF COURSE HAVING BEEN ACCUSED OF NEGATIVITY I'LL HAPPILY SHOW A LITTLE NOW. PLEASE DO READ ON PMSL. When my wife an avid fan of the TV series Poldark, suggested a holiday to Cornwall, I knew I would have to endure something that involved Poldark! Staying in Mullion had I done my research I am sure I would have seen the adverts for the ‘Poldark Mines’ and figured out her intentions and maybe read a few of the reviews on google before wasting the fuel to drive to the mine. In hindsight having read the owners calculated responses to more negative reviews I will choose my wording carefully. It was upsetting to hear that the mine had closed due to the previous owner’s poor financial management. Although it is somewhat concerning that the current owners are not far behind the previous with their financially clownish signage. I am sure the current owner will snub me for only visiting the car park however when amateur signs are plentiful and especially when they read:- Smoke Free Zone Please Do Not Smoke Outside Our Gates Restricted Items: Cigarettes’, E-Cigarettes’, Lighters, Matches, Mobile Phones, Music Players, All Photographic Equipment, Backpacks, Handbags cannot be taken into the mine & should be left in your car. In principle totally agree the smoke free zone absolutely fantastic for families. However, advising visitors to leave valuable items in cars is lunacy. With Cornwall’s rich history of Piracy, smuggling and skulduggery, I was somewhat concerned, even more so when the bottom of your car park looks like “Step-toe and Sons” yard. Being concerned about the risks I spoke with the Cornish Police who strongly advised against this practice, oddly as does every other police force in the country! Unless your liability insurance allows this practice, which I doubt, your advice could place you at risk if visitors take your advice leaving handbags, camera etc in their vehicles. Now let’s be clear restoration of this location is an important heritage project but a long-term project. Third party organisations will only fund you so far, success is about long-term financial income. Having the ability to put paying customers off in the car park isn’t a recipe for long-term success! On the plus side I did escape my nemesis that is "Poldark" :) Wow don't usually update reviews but visited Geevor Tin Mine today amazingly haunting walking through changing rooms felt the life that had once been there even met some of the miners who worked the mine before it sadly closed in 1990. Definitely worth the money. £45 for family of 5 😎 Update 12/08/2018. So to the obtuse owner some advice. I might have liked to help you raise your 250k for the full restoration, as might others. However before any investor would consider investment they might look at your replies to customers or potential customers. It is very clear that Poldark Mine is not a tourist destination. Like most people I would like a memento of my trip to a historic site, it's kinda the point of having a camera. In respect to your comment about being insulting to the Cornish, I have raised my review with a number of friendly Cornish folk all of which were shocked at your attitude towards visitors. All laughed at your toy guns comment and felt was a clear indication that your venture is not family friendly. No need for me to judge your fellow countrymen already have you seem to be rather well known locally. I wish you the best of luck with your venture but being able to accept a little constructive criticism might pay dividend.

Cober Valley is a hidden gem nestled between Coverack Bridges and Loe Bar in Cornwall, offering visitors a serene escape into nature. This enchanting valley features rolling hills and the sparkling Cober River, making it an ideal spot for leisurely walks or invigorating bike rides. A popular circular route from Helston leads adventurers to the historic granite quarries at Coverack Bridges, where remnants of the Helston Railway viaduct can still be admired.
Its always a delight to follow the river through the woods to the stepping stones. Great for dogs - especially if they like getting wet ! Never really busy. No specified car parking ,but there are side streets nearby - please be respectful of local peoples parking areas.

Was an amazing place to have a lil walk in the woods. Only problem faced was parking. Had to park away on the roadside and walk about 200 meters. Not busy at all when we visited (around 5pm). Again, we could not find any name boards or direction labels and had to seek help of a lovely local family having tea out in the garden. Doesn’t matter if you come from either side of the road, as soon as the maps app tells you that you have reached, you’ll be going downhill. Lookout for a telephone booth behind a bus stop leading to a gravel road. Proceed like less than 50 meters and you can see the stones laid on the beautiful stream on your left. Hope this is useful!

The park is nice, the cafe ok, but the lake has been left to go to nothing more than a mess. There's so much weed actually in the lake, and the footpath around it is absolutely covered in bird droppings. I appreciate the number of birds that live there will create such, but whoever is in charge of the place should step up and be a little more proud of something that used to be a beautiful place to visit. It seems now that the caretakers of the place really don't care anymore.

Garden
Nature & Parks
Bonython Estate Gardens, now under South African ownership since 1999, has been artfully transformed into a modern and exotic paradise. Visitors can explore the South African flora with displays of ornamental grasses, cannas and proteas that showcase vibrant colors throughout August and September. The walled garden features catmint, alliums and a variety of plants to enhance blue, purple, yellow and white color themes arranged in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
Beautiful gardens. Walled garden with scented flowers, fruit and vegetables, fruit trees, exotic plants round lakes, bamboos, rhododendrons, sculpted yew "chapel", all around a (private) Georgian country house. Tea, coffee and cakes available. Immaculately maintained. Lovely, peaceful place for a walk and a snack.

Beautiful garden. Could have sat all day, reading a book, soaking in the "calm". A credit to the owners and the two gardeners. Well worth a visit. Garden chairs outside the help yourself drinks and cake "shed" with honesty box

Absolutely stunning gardens and the lake is beautiful. Some of the narrower pathways around the lake may not be accessible to wheel chairs but there is still so much to see and enjoy. Highly recommend exploring!
Lucy J — Google review
The most fantastic gardens, I was truly blown away! Talking to the owners, each plant was hand-planted and the vision that went into these gardens was just incredible. I can’t believe some could have such a wonderful imagination to come up with this! There were little tea rooms which were very quaint and lots of interesting photos of the gardens along the way to becoming what they are now. I’m not usually a huge fan of gardens but I would highly recommend a visit when the flowers are in bloom - it was so lovely!

Relaxed private garden. Lovely selection of spring plants and very well laid out gardens. Friendly staff and honesty box for drinks and delicious cakes. A gem
Ali Y — Google review
Visited today and have to admit that the gardens are nice and the ponds are gorgeous, but found the £8 entrance fee a little excessive considering it was only 1 mile to walk the entire way around the open grounds. On the NGS website it boasted of a 20 acre colour garden, we followed the arrows dotted about and didn't come across anything of the sort. I'm glad I've been and it's crossed off my list now.

Beautiful little garden between Helston and the Lizard. Entry fee a little steep for a small garden however there is tea, coffee and cake on offer with an honesty box - take some change if you’re going. The weather was perfect on the day I attended so I sat by the pond under the tree with my tea - bliss. Recommended little gem.

This is as close as you now get to satellite dishes. No longer a tourist attraction with high security fences all around. The Downs walks gives opportunity to take in the natural habitat as well as plenty of history. RAF Dry Tree (“secret” early warning station) is in the Nature Reserve, but can easily miss it as grown over. Go up to roof for views over area and read about history (check out the double blast walls). Mostly flat walks and carpark is small with picnic tables nearby.
John T — Google review
Lovely walk around the nature reserve, you now need to pay for parking. Within the nature reserve you will find the remains of the disused RAF Dry tree base used in WW2 as a radar station. The surrounding building now derelict.

Nice place to walk the dogs (there are a few little snakes 🐍 though) Small car park Some well overgrown areas Overall a lovely place

Not much here but worth a visit. Is historical. Can be very muddy and waterlogged so inaccessible. Small car park. Payment by Ringo app. Lots of dog poo around that careless owners have not picked up.
Ph93 — Google review
Lovely wild place next to the telescopes and a good ancient standing stone. Pity it's used as a dog toilet by locals, as there are ground nesting birds it might be good to keep them on leads
Alice D — Google review
Amazing nature reserve! Dogs loved the walk as well. Parking is in theory free however you can pay through an app on your phone but very cheap. There are quite a few pathways to choose from and you can get quite close to the Goonhilly earth station and the huge satellite dishes. There is a lot to explore, and many hidden buildings for you to discover. We managed to find an entrance to a building with metal stairs where you can learn about the RAF history at the site - It was a secret communications centre! Unfortunately, some people take advantage of the site and litter everywhere (in buildings especially), but it is relatively clean most of the time. Great time though!
Omura — Google review
Goonhilly is a really interesting place to visit it's situated near Helston in a nature reserve where you can walk around the goonhilly boundary and get a good look and the ranging sizes of satellites. Sadly it is no longer allows visitors to go in but you can park for free in the nature reserve car park and take the different trials around the area. It's peaceful and atmospheric, you can also find the day tree stone which is a landmark for where 4 parishes meet. The stone itself has an interesting history. Definitely worth a visit even if you drive by in the car to take a look!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience, The Helston Grill is a must-visit. Recently, I indulged in their hummus in pitta salad and chips, which was simply outstanding—perfectly balanced and generously portioned. The hummus was rich and flavorful, complemented by the best pickled white cabbage I've ever tasted. The friendly staff went above and beyond to ensure my order was ready before my bus arrived, showcasing exceptional service that truly enhances the experience.
Always love a pizza from here,it's one of the best I've ever had. Guys are lovely too.

Alhamdolillah - Halal food Reasonable quality for area where halal choice is very limited We came for a staycation from up North (West Yorkshire ) Taste is Not same as Bradford B’ham and Manchester standards as up north but do-able in comparison to some of the curry dish places served in other close by areas - I.e other halal places we found in Camborne. We Used this place twice during our 4 night stay in Praze-an-Beeble ( 15-20mins away ) got the pizza and mixed grill Owner was friendly and chatty - and assured us it’s halal. Alhamdolillah This please also appears on the halal recommendation list by the Cornwall Muslim centre website
Shakila K — Google review
Me and my partner were visiting Cornwall and delighted to see a halal place. We ordered food from the app and it came to us hot. Everything was flavourful. We ordered chicken wrap and I wasnt expecting it to be so delicious and also it had generous quantity of meat to it, totally justified for the price. If we were to have another holiday here, this place would be our ultimate go to. Thank you guys for your service and for an amazing meal after a day of sight seeing.

I would not order from here. We came from out of town and decided to order from here. The chicken was cooked in oil that has not been cleaned for days. The pizza was undercooked. The chips were soggy. I would not recommend.

Doner Kebab - It was the worst I've ever had. The meat was over cooked and cut too thin a disaster chewy cheap doner meat.. The salad was a little bit of lettuce and onion with a green chili pepper, No carrot no cucumber no coleslaw no cabbage no tomato. the pitta bread was not fresh and the chili sauce was like a cheap ketchup with no heat. It went straight in the bin

Jumunjy Thai Restaurant & Bar @ The Old Post Office is a hidden gem that offers an amazing dining experience. The food is freshly made to order with clean flavors, and the decor is outstanding, making it stand out in Cornwall. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is unique, complete with a crashed plane and waterfall. It's the perfect place for authentic Thai cuisine and a wide range of bar drinks served by knowledgeable staff.
I must say...this is the first time my partner and I tried Thai food. We didn't know what to expect. We didn't even know what to order. I had a chicken meal. Couldn't tell you what is was called. IT WAS THE BEST FOOD I'VE HAD in a very long time. The price was reasonable for this day and age. 2 beaks with 2 sides and 2 alcohol drinks. £40 per head. Absolutely fantastic. Definitely go. I wish I lived closer. The owner and staff was absolutely the best. We even said to go give congratulations to the chef. Don't miss out. Go find out for yourself.
Jane W — Google review
The whole place was magical from the moment we walked through the doors We were given Gluten free options and the staff were amazingly patient with our 10yo who was a bit fussy over spice. The fish cakes starter was perfectly cooked and flavoured and just melted in the mouth! The portion was just enough to want more, but not enough to fill you up for the main. I had the cashew stir-fry with chicken as a main, and it was to die for. Hubby was jealous, so bought a takeaway the next night. We were treated to a tour of the restaurant and bar by one of the owners and you can just feel the love and passion that has gone into the place, each piece of decoration has a story and the owners enthusiasm bleeds through. From the Lucky Budha beers drunk during renovation which are now pride of joy at the reception desk to the cafe /barn area inspired by Bim's northern Thailand village. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and dietary requirements (a God send for us). For 2 adults, 2 children, all with drinks (G&T's and pints of lager) starters, mains and puddings we spent just about £200, but we won't think twice about driving the 295 miles for a meal the next time holiday time/budget allows.

Simply amazing!!! If you want to step into Thailand on your doorstep then this is the place to go. We are staying down here for the week and I would literally drive from Wales just to eat here again. 100% I will be coming back. Service is impeccable, food is out of this world, atmosphere is amazing and the price is extremely reasonable for the quality of food. An absolute gem of a place

The most perfect food in the most perfect atmosphere and a lovely service. We are staying very nearby from this place and it was recommended by our host. Loved absolutely everything and can’t recommend any more:)

We paid an impromptu visit for lunch. Jumunjy has been decorated with amazing hand built features that can escort you back to a village in a remote part of Thailand.. We loved it and although it was quiet (we were early)It was atmospheric. I can imagine it buzzing with people and great music. We have had takeaways from here but eating in is an experience..Nikki and Mark one Saturday in March.. ☺️

Wow. What a mixed bag of emotions. The restaurant and bar is beautifully decorated. The waitress was honest about her not knowing how to process a take away order, I waited a while for the same waitress to come back and take said Take away order. The bill came up to £58.00 for 2 curries (1 green with chicken £19, 1 red with duck £23) 2 boiled rice £6, 1 roti bread (£7.50, see picture) 1 crackers with sweet chilli sauce £3.50 (no sauce provided) Tha curry sauce on both was phenomenal, best I've had and I've worked in a Thai kitchen, but then to throw in baby potatoes with pineapple wedges in the red curry, and half Carrots with more pineapple wedges in the green, while leaving out the essential bamboo shoots seems unforgivable. The duck meat was perfect, chicken is chicken. The roti flat treats were deep fried dough discs, that oozed oil at the slightest touch. And then to leave out the sweet chilli sauce was just the final straw to make me leave this review. **not to mention the bar only offers 1 red wine by the glass and it's £10 for a glass. Not sure if I got charged tourist prices, but feeling a little ripped off and even though the curry sauce was BANGING! Have a sour taste for Jumunjy. I messaged the restaurant prior to this review, but yet to receive a reply. Will update if contacted.

Amazing food !! Really well balanced! Cashew nut stir fry is a must !! Only letdown was slow service it took 35 mins for food to arrive on our table. Later got to know it’s only 1 chef cooking so can’t really complain Overall, great experience a must visit

I recently tried the Seafood Pad Thai at Jumunjy Thai Restaurant & Bar near Helston (TR12 6LR). The portion was generous, and the dish wasn’t outright bad, but it didn’t deliver the vibrant, balanced flavours you expect from a standout Pad Thai. The tangy tamarind, salty fish sauce, and fresh lime notes were all subdued, and the seafood—meant to be the star—was disappointingly sparse. For £22, I expected a bit more punch and generosity, especially in the seafood department. It felt like safe cooking that didn’t quite justify the price tag. If you’re looking for flavour fireworks and good value in your Pad Thai, I’d keep searching elsewhere. Jumunjy offers an interesting dining atmosphere, but their dish was bland and could do with a seafood upgrade to match the cost.

The visit to Wendron Pancake Barn was thoroughly enjoyable, with prompt service and delectable pancakes. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Additionally, the establishment offered a wide selection of beautiful plants for sale. I will certainly return in the future as it provides the perfect opportunity for a delightful family outing in Cornwall. It is a picturesque dining venue that offers high-quality meals served promptly. The service received was exceptional, and an added bonus was the presence of animals on the premises.
Perfect for mums, granny's etc with small children there was a young couple out for a breakfast date (their pancakes looked amazing) Run by locals, really friendly and a very homely atmosphere. There's a small play area, goats and rabbits. We had a fantastic few hours Not even told off when granny and great aunt climbed the trees Thank you for a super start to a Wednesday Ps if you want to buy a well looked after beautiful palm tree Get your name on the list

Great place! Food and drink delicious, lots of choice. Goats and rabbits outside are lovely. Place was busy, unfortunately we had to move as sat next to a door that was constantly being opened and left open by children who were in and out, quite frustrating but worse because I have a pain condition that is aggravated by cold and I was right in the draft of the door. Not enough parking for the amount of seating, we were lucky to get a space but it wasn’t easy to get into!
Kirsty K — Google review
We visited this place for the first time on our way to Cornwall on a road trip, and our experience was good. It is a very nice little place with a nice sitting area outside and animals. It is not a very typical place that you expect to find on the side of the road. It is a little bit pricey, but once there, the food was very good and tasty. My partner and I ordered "the ridiculous share" for £19.50. It was a big portion and enough for two. We both enjoyed it. We would come back for sure. Dog friendly but they have to be good with other dogs, because there is a loose dog on the premises. #travelwithtentbox

Lovely food, massive portion, we’ll be having the smaller option next time for sure. Lots for kids to do, inside and outside seating. Goats to feed with free goat feed available. Caution for anyone who doesn’t like dogs, there is a lovely German shepherd running free, she’s very friendly and won’t approach you unless you call, But some may still take issue. Parking is haphazard. It would be great if they could put some half posts down to create spaces as some people seemed to really struggle with the lack of markings 😂 Pricing for extras wasn’t unreasonable but also charging the same to add clotted cream as whipped cream as an example seemed odd giving the difference in respective costs of the products. You’ll be looking at approx £12-18 per person depending on your choices and drinks. All in all a very pleasant experience.

Full five stars on this place from arrival to finish. Attended as group of us home educating, lovely setting and environment and play area for the kids. Friendly efficient service. Lovely delicious food , I ordered the banofee crepe, my daughter had a pancake stack of strawberries and syrup, and my other daughter had pancake stack with Oreo filling and cream. They loved how they could pick and choose their fillings. Hot chocolates are devine. And free coffee tea refills. Couldn't ask for more. And lovely to meet the friendly dog so well behaved. I'll be back for sure. Thank you

We booked a Friday afternoon slot for our sons birthday party. We chose the self catering options only as most of the children attending were pre school age and wouldn't make the most of the build your own pancakes option. It's great you have the choice. Even though the weather was wet, the kids loved playing outside in the well equipped park. The parents enjoyed the drinks options and Free refills on tea and coffee. We did order pancakes. Absolutely incredible! We absolutely recommend this place for laid back family time with good food and play area.

I don't do pancakes! but my wife and daughter really wanted to try this place as they do gluten-free pancakes. The atmosphere was really friendly and we had a warm welcome from the staff on arrival. The menu was extensive, full of crepes and pancake combinations. Free refills on hot drinks were a really nice touch for this grumpy bloke. The owner took time out to come and chat with us. My daughter's partner is in a wheelchair and found access to the venue and facilities easy. The goats (free goat food available) and rabbits outside plus an absolutely gorgeous friendly dog helped make our visit a little more special. I still don't do pancakes, but I'm more receptacle to them now as I know we'll be back!

New Yard Restaurant is a chic and airy dining spot located in the riverside country estate of Trelowarren. Housed in a converted old carriage house, it offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere with warm service. The restaurant's setting amidst magical woodland and pastures adds to its charm. The menu features dishes made from produce foraged from the estate or sourced ethically from the local area, earning them a Green Michelin Star in 2021.
Hidden amongst a rural estate this place is beautiful. We were met with a handshake and made to feel very welcome. Dinner was fresh, seasonal and fragrant. We returned a few months later and Tim the chef remembered us! We enjoyed the most fantastic coffee and Danish for breakfast ❤️.

Excellent food , seasonal, much of it grown on site or using high quality local suppliers. Innovative soft drinks (seasonal cordials/shrubs/kombuchas) as well as cider made on site and good wine list. Goats curd confit garlic and broad bean toast was excellent as well as the pizzas and salami / cod’s roe. High quality baked goods too available to buy from the counter (blood orange cake was excellent) but don’t hang around as they seem to sell out fast! Service a little on the slow side but it was clearly a busy service on a hot day (one meal was missed and was quite delayed but was taken off the bill, thank you). Beautiful courtyard and off the beaten track. Dog friendly. Would recommend and return.

Absolutely Amazing Experience 🫧🤿 Highly Recommend Porthkerris Divers! Last week, my partner and I travelled to Cornwall to complete our PADI Dry Suit Diver certification, and we couldn’t have chosen a better place than Porthkerris Divers. From start to finish, it was an unforgettable experience.♥️ It’s a family-owned dive centre, and you can really feel the warmth and care from everyone there. The entire team was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and helpful🙏🏼creating a relaxed and supportive atmosphere that made us feel at home right away. Thank you to our Diving instructors, David and Ryan, who were both fantastic. 🙏🏼 They are very patient, and knowledgeable, and guided us through each step with confidence and making sure we felt safe and prepared at all times! Great food. A must stop on the southwest coast. This health focused eatery was a nice change from many of the other cafes on the path. Fresh dishes that leave you feeling light and ready to hike. The cafe also has a nice gift shop that sells a variety of items from kids games to soaps. The owner is an artist and I think screen prints many of the items him self.

This is without doubt the best cafe in the U K in my experience. One of the best in the world that I have visited. If a cafe could be awarded a Michelin star this would deserve it. I had an English breakfast, top class. My partner had the vegetarian version which was incredible, truly superb. Restaurants should use this as a standard for vegetarian meals as mostly the veggie options are an afterthought. I applaud the Fat Apples staff for the high standard of food and for their impeccable service and politeness.

Just back from a fantastic birthday lunch and the salads are just amazing… followed by a huge meringue with delicious raspberry coulis, sorbet and a candle in the top as it is my birthday. Impromptu singing from the staff added to the occasion. What a great place this is!! Good mix of locals and visitors here today too which was lovely to see!

We were recommended there by locals in St.Keverne. Two miles of windy roads and thoroughly worth it! Peaceful location, warm welcome, truly delicious, colourful, fresh food and takeaway options too. Highly recommended! Seasonal opening March to October, offering breakfasts and beyond.

A sweet family run cafe with an eclectic feel! Friendly staff, great food! We had a polenta cake (home made) and a bacon bap with coffee. Both excellent and beautifully served. The breakfast looked amazing. I heard another customer compliment them for the vegetarian breakfast. I will have to go back when I am a bit more hungry (my bacon bap was on top of my earlier breakfast at home!)

Very tasty food, great to have sautéed potatoes along side a bacon roll. The coffee was very good, and served by cafetière to table as opposed to a coffee machine at the counter. Look forward to going back again.

Restaurant
The Ship Inn is a family and pet-friendly country pub/restaurant that offers local beers and contemporary seasonal dishes. It provides a unique dining experience, offering high-quality food in a picturesque location. The proprietor is delightful, and the service she delivers is exceptional. It's an enjoyable place to spend an evening, with prices that are worth it. However, it's important to note that during our visit in spring 2023, the restaurant operated only on select nights of the week.
Our annual visit. The best food, every time we have been lucky enough to get in. Set price menu has choices for most tastes. I had a wonderful home smoked salmon and prawn cocktail with a fennel mayonnaise. My wife had a smooth chicken pate. We both had the pepper rump steak, each cooked to our desired preference. Then I got greedy and we shared orange and Cointreau ice cream, chocolate and pistachio torte with caramel sauce and three local cheeses. We had had another superb meal at prices that are great value for the taste, skill and ambience offered.

Had an incredible meal here with my family when staying locally. The food was probably the best I have had in Cornwall and I have been going down annually for over 20 years! The owners were so kind and had some really lovely chats with them, and was lovely that the chef came out to talk too. A real hidden gem and a very special place indeed. Thank you!

We came across this pub whilst on a mission to buy pasties for family in Wiltshire whilst on holiday. Pulled up outside to look at the menu when the lovely chef came out to check we were OK (was just myself and my eldest daughter at the time as OH and two other children were back at the caravan) He was incredibly friendly and personable, told us about the changes to the menu as everything is homemade and fresh. We asked about availability and were able to book for 6pm and were allocated the Snug. Fast forward a few hours, we arrived just as they were opening for service. The snug was all laid out for us, including a highchair, and received the warmest welcome from the chefs wife (they run the pub together along with some really lovely local youngsters as waiting staff). They don't have a children's menu, BUT, made the most amazing chicken goujons for 2 of our party. Plates were cleared! The steak was perfection, as was the brisket. Puddings were just sensational, especially the chocolate mousse and creme brulee. Our youngest was able to eat what we did. He was even given the most awesome pirate ship to play with! Oh, the merlot, best my OH had on our weeks holiday. Honestly, the most welcoming and friendly staff and owners, a stunning pub with lots of history, and, special mention, I felt like royalty visiting the restroom! It's beautiful too! Thank you all so much for the most incredible meal and for making us so welcome, from our pit stop hours before to the moment we left.

My 65th birthday spent here with especially good friends to share it with. Impressive menu. Very country pub decors but pleasing atmosphere. Love the old style pull chain flush. Looked more like a dancing room to me as very spacious. I had a great time. Landlady warm and accommodating.

Beautiful photography. We were lucky enough to visit the shop yesterday and were in awe of all of the work within the gallery. We came away with a beautiful shot of our beloved Porthcurno but could easily have spent a great deal more! It was wonderful to meet the man behind the talent! Will certainly be back!

On an amazing holiday to Cornwall, went to Portleven and bought another magnificent photo from Mike Lacey along with his new book. We look at it every day with the vivid colours and great detail takes you back to Cornwall in an instance. Complements the pre-existing ones we already had beautifully. Maybe another one next year ? Probably ! 😁

What a Beautiful Art Gallery.. went to Porthleven for the day on Bank Holiday Monday. We walked in to find some gorgeous artwork. One spoke to us both, we had to have it. As we were on holiday we asked if there was any chance it could be delivered... this was not a problem, and the price was next to nothing. It arrived exactly when we were told it would be, in the best case/box... inside the box was a card congratulating us on the picture. What a lovely touch that was. The picture is now exactly where we will see it everyday... I would like to say thank you to Louise who was the lady who looked after us in the shop. She is not pushing at all... and they have such beautiful artwork in their shop. If you have not been, then it is a must. We are going down to Lands End in August and will be popping over to see if anything else speaks to us. Thank you xx

Purchased a beautiful painting from this gallery, after seeing it on their website. It was beautifully framed and looks great now it’s here. I don’t live locally so it needed posting. The painting arrived in packaging that would be practically bomb proof, with a tracked DPD service - fantastic. Everyone I dealt with was so helpful and lovely. I will certainly buy from here again, especially given they showcase such a great range of artists and makers. Thank you!

Albatross Gallery offers a diverse collection of artwork, ranging from paintings and prints to cards, placemats, coasters, and cushions. The sea life range is particularly impressive. Customers can find high-quality coasters with a soft base that protects tables from damage. The cushions are made from unbleached cotton and are well-filled. While there may be cheaper options available, the quality at Albatross is exceptional.
Excellent little gallery with a wide range of paintings, prints, cards, placemats, coasters, cussions and much more. The sea life range (pictured) is in my opinion absolutely stunning, we ended up with 4 cards, 2 coasters and 3 cussions. The coasters are really good quality with a soft base to prevent damaging your table, the cussions are on unbleached cotton and are really well filled. There's probably cheaper around, but ultimately you get what you pay for and the quality at Albatross is superb.

Visitors rave about the freshness and deliciousness of the seafood, with highlights such as the Lobster roll and crab sandwich.
Absolutely the best lobster we've had , we opted for the medium seafood platter( just two of us but very hungry) . There was plenty to eat it was presented beautiful and tasted even better , the girls serving were lovely and helpful. I really hope your open when we come back in October as we will definitely be buying again if you are .
Deborah D — Google review
If you’re in Porthleven and anywhere near Harbour Head (TR13 9JA), do yourself a favour and stop at Dan Dan the Lobster Man. I had the crab sandwich and fries, and honestly, it was outstanding — fresh, generous, and the kind of thing that makes you question ever eating a supermarket sarnie again. The crab was fresh, flavourful, and generously packed into soft bread, with just the right amount of dressing to let the crab shine without drowning it. The fries were golden, crisp, and properly seasoned — not just a side, but a very welcome part of the meal. The setting by the harbour is lovely, but watch out for the seagulls!! These feathered thugs are absolute professionals. One circled like it was planning a heist, another stared at me like I owed it money. Genuinely felt like I was in a low-budget Hitchcock remake. Hold your sandwich tight and don’t blink. Service was friendly in that laid-back Cornish way, and the harbourside setting makes it all taste even better. You get the sense they care more about the food than the branding, and frankly, it shows. All in all, a proper seaside lunch. Would go back in a heartbeat — next time I might have to try the lobster roll.

Great seafood, lovely fresh salad and lobster. Really felt like we were supporting a local business and you can see where the shellfish was brought back into the harbour. Porthleven is was one of the best places we founds on this trip and having lobster by the sea with you family felt really luxurious but not fussy.

Visited this venue on multiple occasions over our two-week stay in the area. It helped to save our holiday. The Storm Damage cider is the best I've ever tasted (like the best stewed apple in drink form). My wife and I bought 5 litres to bring home. The rum is also gorgeous (bought a bottle of that too), and the food! All of it is top notch, and we even splashed out on the sharing platter. Best seafood I've ever had!

Located in Porthleven, the Harbour Inn is a vibrant pub with modern rooms and complimentary breakfast and Wi-Fi. The pub offers fantastic food made from fresh local ingredients all year round. Its decor seamlessly blends old and new elements, creating a comfortable atmosphere. Additionally, the inn hosts Sunday champagne breakfasts and serves classic American dishes like barbecue ribs and fish fries for lunch and dinner.
The Harbour Inn was our second overnight stop while walking the South West Coast Path. What a great place. The room was well appointed and the bed was sooooo comfortable. We had a view of the harbour which was wonderful. Had both dinner and breakfast at the Inn, and the food did not disappoint. Service was good, food was yummy and the atmosphere was entertaining. We stayed five nights in a room with a bay window with comfy armchairs overlooking the harbour. Tea, coffee machine, biscuits, fresh milk and water provided daily. Good quality bed linen, towels and toiletries, a huge very comfortanle bed and everything you might need, eg. Iron, hairdrier, courtesy coats for rainy weather. The room and bathroom kept spotlessly clean, bedding changed, etc. Great location, very friendly staff in the efficient pub/hotel. Generous breakfasts, relaxed friendly atmosphere but very well run pub, restaurant and hotel. Highly recommend it, we had a really lovely stay.

What an amazing pub & restaurant, from its location along the harbour wall, it's great decor & a warm friendly welcome as you enter, as well as the service by the team, it's a great place to go. We were out for a long coastal walk & on our return journey when in search of a hot coffee, but oh no! What no hot water for tea/coffee, I told my wife, so i purchased us these drinks to help get our fluid levels up, "oh I see" she said! So we stayed for a couple more in the hope that the hot water could be fixed!! I great place to drink, dine & meet up with friends.

Restaurant
The Ship Inn is a well-known establishment in Porthleven, known for its lively parties and excellent pub-grub. Perched on the harbour wall, it offers a great vantage point to watch storms during winter nights by the cozy fire. While it's frequented by Masked Ball and Love Riot creators, don't be deterred as it exudes coziness with friendly staff and good beer.
Been here for dinner. Amazing pub, one of the best I’ve been to. Food was great. Burger was quite literally dripping in juice. Drinks offered were of great variety and were delicious. Atmosphere was lively (but not too noisy), everyone was having a great time. Great value. Staff were really friendly and overall a nice casual experience. Location was immaculate! The scenery was gorgeous, plenty of outside seating with scenic views. Top points for everything… Will definitely be back!

We visited The Ship in Porthleven Harbour and absolutely loved it. It’s an amazing pub with a huge amount of outdoor seating spread across several levels built into the cliffside, overlooking the harbour — the views are simply stunning! My partner and I went for dinner and tried their new winter menu. We had the fish finger bap, pork belly bap, and cauliflower cheese soup — every dish was incredible. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. Inside, the pub is small and cozy, with limited seating, but that just adds to its charm and warm atmosphere. It feels like a proper Cornish pub — welcoming, relaxed, and full of character. If you’re in Porthleven, The Ship is a must-visit — great food, unbeatable views, and a lovely atmosphere.

Lively pub with great fish and chips. I appreciated I could order a small portion. Just right! Nice outdoor seating overlooking the harbor. Nice drinking stations for pups.
Tracie T — Google review
This is the perfect quintessential harbour side pub, which is clearly hugely popular with locals and visitors alike. Its location overlooking the entrance to the harbour is awesome, perfect whatever the weather, perhaps especially bad weather as all you want to do is sit in this cosy pub, order another drink and watch the waves roll in. It has great character with beer mats covering the ceiling, and traditional fishing village / harbour side items adorning the walls. The staff are great, extremely friendly and laid back, there is a good selection of drinks including local beers on draught, and the small menu has always been excellent on the occasions I've eaten. Porthleven is worth a visit just to get to this pub, clear your plans for the day, order a drink and let time melt away by the Cornish coast.

The Homestead Woodland Garden is a charming spot that offers a delightful experience for visitors. The cafe serves up generous and delicious meals, including a fantastic full English breakfast with hogs pudding hash. The friendly staff and warm atmosphere make it an inviting place to dine. Additionally, the garden itself is a testament to years of dedication and care, providing a serene setting for leisurely strolls or events like afternoon teas.
What a hidden gem! We stumbled upon this place, but we only live a few miles away so it will definitely become a regular visit. Absolutely blown away by the stunning gardens. It's immediately clear how much love, dedication and hard work has been put into creating these gorgeous gardens. The charge of £4 per adult was well worth it! So many beautiful plants, little benches and places to rest and enjoy the tranquility. The woodlands had a really sweet play area set up with some swings in the trees, a hidden hut and even a swing ball! There was a sign welcoming dogs on leads and they even thought about other four-legged friends by including a place to leave horses for any riders that might pass by the adjoining bridleway. We stopped by the cafe for a hot chocolate. The building is gorgeous and it's been beautifully done inside. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We didn't have food this time but the menu looked great and very well priced - we'll definitely be going back. As a final cherry on the cake, there is also a sweet little vintage shop next door to the cafe - they do have paypal payment options, but helpful if you bring cash! And I would, because we came away with a couple of great finds! Absolutely recommend and already can't wait to go back 11/10!

Beautiful gardens, lovely for a gentle stroll or wider areas if you want to wear the kids out a bit. Quiet, tranquil, beautifully planted and very good value at £4 each (£2 for children). What a find! And the cafe is excellent too.

Fantastic brunch, very friendly and polite staff and amazing menu (have a daughter who doesn't like bread or cake..weird I know). Hubby cooked breakfast, mine sandwich and chips and daughter panini, very nice hot coffee. Very reasonable price and lovely location. Will definitely recommend and return. Parking on site and a warm log fire café. Didn't get to enjoy the gardens as very wet weather but will be returning to explore. Thank you.
Michelle T — Google review
Absolutely tranquil beautiful fresh and relaxing. It's hard to go explore the rest of Cornwall because it's so scenic and peaceful. The gardens are out of this world.

I'm so glad we found this place! Everything about it is just amazing. The location itself is so cute, tucked away amongst the bluebells, with swings and huts in the woods. The food is really fresh and tasty. The venue is nicely decorated and the staff are really friendly. Can't wait to come back!

Beautiful and tranquil place, hidden gem! The cafe serves delicious food and lovely tea! The pond garden reminds me of an Italian garden. We also enjoyed walking around the woodland and sitting in the sun on the swing in the kitchen garden. We will be back!

An excellent garden that shows years of hard work and love. A nice cafe that served a good breakfast.

We held our fathers wake at The Homestead Woodland Garden Cafe today. We can not compliment them enough. Wonderful 'afternoon tea' style-food presented beautifully. The staff were respectful, but attentive and, of course the grounds are stunning and serene. The cafe has recently changed hands, and these new owners are obviously a fantastic choice. We wouldn't hesitate to book an event again. Thank you so much.

Situated near Helston Bowling Club, the Grylls Monument stands as a remarkable structure honoring Humphry Millet Grylls, the former mayor of Helston. Notably, Grylls played a pivotal role in saving the Wheal Vor tin mine from closure during the 1820 recession, preserving over a thousand jobs. Renowned for his popularity among locals, his funeral procession stretched an impressive two miles from his residence in Bosahan to Helston Church.
Grylls Monument is the entrance to Helston Bowling Club. Open air bowling season recommenced April. Why not "Have a Go"? It's a well .established bowls club always welcoming new members regardless of age or gender.

Fantastic views along the whole coast and a general good view 360 degrees. The cross is the War Memorial for St Germoe with 4 names from WW1 and 3 names from WW2. One of the First World War casualties - Leonard Laity is buried in the St Germoe cemetery.

Wow. My partner and I did an impromptu hike up the hill one evening for the sunset. We were not disappointed. It was a steep hill to climb, but it was worth it to see so far from the top!! Beautiful views and a lovely place to explore!
Kristin W — Google review
Expect more paths to be improved now hill under new ownership. Been on a few guided walks and plenty of history evident as well as vast array of plants.
John T — Google review
This place is sort of a hidden gem, not going to get a lot of tourists here, there was nobody else around. But you get fantastic views in all directions, you can just about see the north coast, east of St Ives, you can see St Michael's mount and Penzance, and you can see Goonhilly and the south coast in yet another direction.
Josh H — Google review
Several different walking paths along the top of the hill, with areas of level path and some rather cobbled segments, as well as a quick up and down near the old quarry. Several wooden seats along path, including one at the war memorial. There's also a compass erected in 2002 with directional points to numerous landmarks.
Stephen C — Google review
Stunning views across Cornwall. You can see both coasts from the top!
SHAUN W — Google review
One best views in country, can see South and North Cornwall all in one. Beautiful!
Robin S — Google review
If you're fit and healthy, why make it easy? Approach the hill from the harder, steeper North side and get a workout at the same time. Spectacular panoramic views from the trig point at the top. A monument to both world wars dominates the landscape.

Fish and chips takeaway
Fast food restaurant
Hutchinsons is a popular spot known for its fish and chips, offering a variety of options on the menu. The prices are considered to be on the higher side, but the quality of food justifies it. The place tends to get busy with locals and offers both eat-in and take-out options. While the fish is highly recommended, it's important to note that they use lard for frying, which may not be suitable for Muslim dietary restrictions.
I love the food in this establishment, the portions are more than adequate, always hot and fresh, their Curry Sauce is to die for, I originate from the north west so we like our curry sauce, the mushy peas and gravy are good too. The staff and owners are lovely people and the prices very reasonable.
Mark C — Google review
Chips were way undercooked, and slightly warm, salt and vinegar was present at the sub molecular level... In all seriousness I watched them put plenty of vinegar on and it was undetectable, pretty sure they water it down. The 'service' was barely apparent and the price was a rip-off, £3.80 I think it was for a medium chips (they don't do a small).
Thomas S — Google review
We have been having fish and chips from Hutchinsons for years and can honestly say that I have never had better. The food is always cooked perfectly and is consistently tasty. The atmosphere is friendly and the portions more than adequate. If for some reason we have to get F&C from somewhere else we instantly know the difference in quality and taste.
John S — Google review
At one end of the town is this chip shop. The fish was cooked as we waited and the chips tasted really good too. IMHO the chip portion was a bit small. The staff were friendly and we would go back. Parking nearby could be an issue

Never had a bad meal from here. When staying near Helston, this is our go to chippy
Jayne O — Google review
Spent £30 on fish and chips. First ordered as take out but since with little one decided to eat in. Was told we couldn't because the prices are different to eat a bag of chips at the tables just inside ! Right tight that being charged to run a cloth over the table after eating at it! Not like it's a restaurant ! Chips horrible dark brown warm ups, fish thick batter soggy inside dripping in grease . Gross!
Sarah K — Google review
Only giving one star as I'm forced too though they don't deserve any stars after the service I received and the food I took home. The staff were very rude and couldn't get an order right, i asked for a cheese burger with onions and burger sauce, no lettuce. Got home to find a cold burger, filled with so much burger sauce that it was impossible to eat and lettuce which i made clear i didn't want, there was also no cheese and the whole burger was just thrown in the box, i had to build the burger myself. The gravy is so watery and has no thickness to it at all and the chips were also cold. All the food we ordered was stone cold and we only live around the corner. My girlfriend was treated very badly by staff, she clearly asked for just salt on her fish and chips and the staff just ignored her and coated everything in vinegar. After their mistake was pointed out, the main lady huffed like a school kid and went to get the cook to make another fish and chips. She then started to talk about my girlfriend behind her back to the cook and later the staff, making the whole experience very uncomfortable. My girlfriend felt so bad after the way she was treated that she left crying. Overall the staff lack customer service, the food is very bad to the point I had nothing to eat and had to cook something when I got home. They can't get any orders right! Will definitely never be going back and recommend others to go elsewhere as this place doesn't deserve anyone's money
Rae T — Google review
Always a good sign when there are queues out the door. We opted to eat in and staff were really helpful and friendly asking about our trip and recommending places for us. It was really nice to watch staff interacting with all their customers - obviously lots of regulars which is another excellent sign. Food was really good. Highly recommend the peas and pea fritter! Only lost 1 star as floor was quite greasy and slippy, especially by the bathroom.

Pizza delivery
Domino's Pizza in Helston is a popular delivery and carryout chain known for its wide range of pizzas and other dishes. Despite some initial concerns due to negative reviews, customers were pleasantly surprised by the hot, fresh, and tasty food prepared on time. The store itself was clean and well-maintained, with the added bonus of being able to watch the pizzas being made. The staff were friendly and efficient, providing excellent service whether ordering online or dining in.
Had a fantastic experience here today & the last time we visited Helston (a few months back), genuine real people, went above and beyond- ordered gluten free vegetarian - if I could I’d given them 11/10 they were brilliant and the pizza’s were perfect ! Will be back without a doubt.

Fresh, fast and at £1.99 for the lunch special you cant go wrong. Also has a good amount of seating if you choose to eat in. Staff and drivers are friendly and efficient, overall it is a good experience.

Server was a little abrupt and made me feel rushed as the menu was different to back home in the Midlands were where from on holiday, but the food was great as expected
Mark B — Google review
I drove 20 minutes to collect my pizza, which I'd upgraded for the double decadence crust +3.00 and when I got there they said they'd sent my pizza out for delivery. It has my name on it? And then they proceed to offer me, someone else's pizza which was completely different on a standard crust, and offered a large dip as compensation for the mistake. The large dip doesn't even equate to the crust upgrade? Not to mention the pizza they then gave me was completely wrong and had mushrooms on it which I don't like. Every time I go in there they don't seem to care about customer service at all, and I think it must have changed hands because half the staff have changed also. It's only been since this change that I've had issues with this place

Nestled in the charming town of Helston, Nettles is a must-visit destination for fish and chips enthusiasts. Diners rave about the generous portion sizes—medium servings can easily satisfy two or even three people! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, thanks to the friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
Wonderful fish and chips. Only realised why Nettles on the way home in the car. As well as a superb fish and chip shop it’s a dr who museum, great for the kids to visit and fun while waiting. We had the works last night and the food was superb. On the train back to london and telling all my friends about Cornwall fish and chips. Thanks Dr, beautiful food and chat. Great value too

Staying nearby and after reading the ratings we decided to give it a try. Suffice to say, we weren’t disappointed! I had medium cod and chips, my partner had a large cod and chips. Both were generous portions and were tasty, hot and freshly cooked. The staff were lovely and friendly, we would definitely recommend.

Delicious fish and chips. We went for the medium and it was perfect! Fish was fresh, crispy batter and the best chippy chips I've ever had. Was quite busy when we arrived (Friday night!) We were greeted with very friendly service and our fish and chips much quicker than expected! Could not really ask for more. Thank you Nettles!
Lauren C — Google review
Bought fish and chips last night (Sunday) and unfortunately I have had vomiting and liquid diarrhea all night and into the morning within hours of eating. Either I had a bad piece of fish or health & safety (cleanliness) isn't up to scratch. Thankfully my husband hasn't suffered anything which leads me to believe it was the fish rather than cleanliness but really, who knows, his mushy peas weren't mushy at all though, just peas sat in a green liquid. Either way we won't be eating anything from this chippy ever again. It's a shame because they generally get good reviews which is why I chose them when I had a different chippy literally a 1 minute walk away. I'm wishing I had gone to the convenient chippy and not driven into town to Nettles.

Harbour View Cafe is a beloved part of Porthleven's food scene, offering stunning views over the harbor. The cafe is known for serving some of the best coffee in town. As a group of local ladies we usually go here for coffee every Sunday . However today we thought we’d try the Sunday Roast and we were so glad we did. It was absolutely delicious. Could not fault it one bit. It was plentiful, nice and hot and the beef just melted in your mouth . A couple of the group had nut roast and they said it was the best they’d ever had. It’s lovely , warm welcoming restaurant . Reasonable priced too. Thanks again everyone at Harbour View . We will definitely be having Sunday Lunch again in the future. Xx

A lovely place to relax and have breakfast. Reasonable prices too. It took a while for our food to arrive but as it's all cooked to order, that's to be expected. And definitely worth the wait. Very generous breakfasts and very tasty. Beware of the seagulls if you're sitting outside.

We visited this café during a morning walk around Porthleven Harbour and were really pleased with the experience. The prices were very reasonable, and the quality of the food stood out. My partner had the full English, which was generous and made with great ingredients – everything was cooked perfectly. I had the porridge with oat milk, which had a lovely texture and flavour, though it was a little on the cold side. Still, it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment. A cosy spot with friendly service and a nice view – definitely worth a visit!

The best service, the best food, the best vibe. We were a big group of ladies on bikes that were very hungry and we were greeted with such amazing service. Such good food and quick to service us. The staff were so much fun, even during a busy, Easter bank holiday. We danced, we laughed, we had the best lunch. Thankyou :)

Lovely place. Visited here a couple of days ago. 4 adults, 5 children, two of whom are babies and two toddlers, plus one dog. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. We understand young children can be a bit noisy however they never made us feel uncomfortable. The food was out in good time and was superb. Not normally a fan of chunky chips but these were great. Also had the crab sandwich which was fresh and tasty. Top marks and a credit to Porthleven.
