St Austell in 5 days

If you only have 5 days to spend in St Austell, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
St Austell makes a good base for exploring Cornwall’s south coast, with easy access to sandy beaches and the historic harbour village of Charlestown, known for its tall ships and film locations. Just outside town are two major attractions: the Eden Project, with its vast biomes of global plant life, and the restored Lost Gardens of Heligan. The area’s china clay mining history is visible in its distinctive landscape and is documented in local museums and trails. From St Austell, you can also reach coastal paths, small coves and nearby fishing villages for day trips.
With favorites like St Austell Arts Centre, Pinetum Gardens, and Hubbox Pentewan, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Rebellion Roast House and White River Fish Bar so you can get the best taste of St Austell while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, located in St. Austell, were lost after World War One and rediscovered in 1990. This 200-acre paradise features Victorian gardens, a jungle area with a bamboo tunnel, woodlands with ivy-laden sculptures, and the romantic Pleasure Gardens offering stunning views across St. Austell Bay from the Northern Summerhouse. The gardens are teeming with life and offer a perfect setting for a leisurely walk amidst colorful flowers.
We experienced the magical Heligan Night Garden which is a separate ticketed event to the standard Lost Gardens entry. All the stewards from the parking attendants, those on the trail and those when we departed were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The accessible parking was close to the entry and this and all the usual parking is free for night garden customers. There are a few ridges from rain in the car park and some trails so take care in a wheelchair or mobility scooter. The night gardens were pretty from the entrance and of course we took far too many photos of the beautiful and creative installations. One super bonus that doesn't appear to be advertised until you check the small print on the back of the leaflet you are given on entry, is that your entire party have a complimentary daytime entry for the gardens until 31st January after you attend the night gardens. The one-way layout of the trail was really well thought out. The accessible routes did not miss any of the installations. The refreshment facilities had queues but plenty of space to sit outside and in the undercover areas (the weather was kind) to enjoy a drink or snack. The Stewards House was serving more substantial meals and warmer inside. The timed entries seemed to allow space for everyone to see the installations and manoeuvre about. The barn was open for goat & donkey petting and taking festive photos in a sleigh or with cuddly polar bears and we toasted marshmallows over a large firepit and enjoyed a created snow shower in one area. We really enjoyed the evening and the families with children around us seemed to be doing so also. The exit is through the gift shop of course.

Great place to visit with something for everyone. We choose to visit here over The Eden project as its dog friendly in all areas and we didn’t want to leave our dog all day. There were acres of beautiful gardens, sculptures and tropical jungle. There’s a farm animal area and wooden play park for the kids. Brilliant day out and cherished memories made. Only issue is paying for parking when you still have to pay for entry. Not a big issue but it would have been nice to expect this prior to turning up and knowing you will be required to park in the farm shop premises next door. This is not very clearly communicated and it made parking more complicated than necessary. Definitely worth a visit!
Nicola — Google review
Lovely safe place to go with the kids, lots of amenities, lots of different things to do. The way the trees are trained in the garden area is stunning. The rare breed of farm animals are cool to see, the jungle is amazing (but not suitable for everyone because of how steep slopes are), and the children's play area is enormous.
Ngozi A — Google review
Great day out with the family, including 3 year old daughter. Gardens are vast, well kept and themed with plenty of variety - from the flower gardens to the jungle section, there's plenty to see and do. Lovely little farm section with the usual animals to pet. The play area in the centre of the estate was excellent and our daughter loved it, the climbing frames were great quality and the bouncy trampoline was fun for everyone! Ample free car parking spaces. Great customer service from everyone we dealt with. We spent 6 hours at the Lost Gardens, which is great value in our opinion. Be prepared for a good workout and bring some sturdy walking boots if visiting when it's wet!
Liam G — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit. We started with a nice lunch in the kitchen, lots of space and food was decent. Nice to see quite a few ingredients taken from the garden. The actual gardens are spectacular, really varied and interesting. Enjoyed the signs and photographs of past gardeners, interesting to hear about the history. The restoration has been done really sympathetically. We enjoyed the kitchen garden and was amazed to see how they grow pineapples. Around every corner is something to suprise and delight you. We stopped for a cup of tea at Stewards House which was nice. The playground looked amazing and can see how much the kids enjoyed it. We really enjoyed the jungle and suspension bridge. Amazing to see how varied all the plant life is. We then did a walk around the outer path and saw a couple of amazing sculptures. All in all a great day out.
Bruce R — Google review
Fantastic gardens. I found the story very moving. The jungle is amazing. Beware its very steep in places. You might have to pay to park - but we were given a coupon for a free drink because of this. Cafe is lovely. Highly recommend
Rae A — Google review
We visited this beautiful garden twice (2018 and 2025) - and it was definitely a good idea to come the second time. Such a lovely huge and well kept garden - you should plan at least 4 hours if you want to discover most of it. Plenty of things to find for both young and old visitors. There is also a huge playground for the kids. We enjoyed taking lots of photos from insects and animals. Besides the hanging bridge with many people waiting to get access, the garden is huge enough so it never feels crowded also on busy days in holiday season.
Jan W — Google review
Lovely place to visit and much bigger than we expected! Unless you spend in the cafe at the farm shop on the way in or out (not the farm shop) you do have to pay for parking as well which I thought was a bit of a pee take. You can't exactly get the bus there so you pay admission AND parking. It was a nice afternoon though.

White River Place

Shopping mall
Parking lot
White River Place is a modern shopping and entertainment area located in St Austell, Cornwall. It was constructed using materials from the demolished Bull Ring in Birmingham. The complex features a luxurious multiplex cinema and various popular high street restaurants, enhancing the town's shopping experience. Additionally, St Austell has a railway station on the Cornish Main Line connecting it to Penzance and other major cities.
Went to a charity shop and TK maxx and brought items in both. Plenty of units available but shopping in person is less popular nowadays
Ian H — Google review
I used to like St Austell town as it had a good variety of shops but now it’s fine for visiting the White River Cinema, however the White River shopping is in my opinion depressing, more empty shops than open ones. I can strongly recommend though getting a proper pasty at Malcolm Barnecutts bakery situated in Fore Street. Unfortunately the town has declined since the abundance of rehab facilities have sprung up close by, and a lot of undesirables have been roaming around the town making a nuisance of themselves. There is also a hideous Totem pole which has been sited in the main town centre area,( money could have been spent on more important projects) and to be honest the old centre area was a lot better. They had the chance of having undercover retail complex but opted for what is there now White Elephant Place
Philip H — Google review
The shops are good and it all looks well kept but for the love of God it needs some signage on the outside how to get in, even just pedestrians to the entrance. I swear we walked around three whole sides before finding steps in, and it's not a small place.
Jordan S — Google review
Not worth a visit anymore. The shopping centre is awful, empty shops everywhere with no major chains. There is just a few coffee shops, newsagents, holiday shops and charity shops. Personally I wouldn't bother. Truro though is vibrant with plenty of shops.

It’s not the thriving centre it once was. It has the essentials & a good TK Max. You can get a pasty but not a vegan Kit Kat despite the excellent health food shop.
Max B — Google review
Most of the good shops have left or closed down. Now it's full of barbers, hairdressers and charity shops. There are a few good shops left, and some unique ones trying to make a go of it. A good costa, card factory, superdrug, tkmax, boots, holland and barrett, samuels and poundland. WHSmith now includes the post office. Rowes bakery, the works. These are the main ones I use.

Terrible place to shop. Jumped up security guards think they own the dump. Older ones were nice

History Museums
The Shipwreck Treasure Museum in Charlestown, South Cornwall, is a popular family attraction that showcases artifacts from over 150 shipwrecks, including the Titanic. Visitors can explore the subterranean passageways known as the Charlestown Tunnels, which were dug during the china clay era. The museum offers a fascinating look into what lies on the seabed, from gold bullion bars to manillas used for enslavement.
So sad this place is closing... And all the exhibits being sold by auction 😔, been a museum for 50 years. Lost treasure to the world. Good luck to those who have to move on. Glad we got to see this amazing place.
Emma J — Google review
this place has probably seen better days unfortunately. £8.50 was far too expensive for a ticket considering so much is missing, especially when it wasn’t made clear to us that there were some areas that are incomplete. even the bits that were available to see were very unkept, with displays either being damaged or all over the place. overall disappointing. from the looks of it, it’s all being sold off to auction anyway.
Josie — Google review
The weather wasn't great at the start of our holiday so I was looking for something we could do that would interest my children. They are 14 &18. This quirky lovely museum was just the ticket. We spent an hour or so here before heading outside to the harbour. Lots of things to see, including the Shackleton experience. The tickets were fairly priced and not too expensive. Dogs welcome too. We enjoyed our visit.
Rhiannon W — Google review
Amazing display of many shipwrecks & items. We also went through the Shackleton exhibition which is definitely worth our time. Spent 2 hours wandering through this museum exhibition.
Mark A — Google review
Very interesting exhibits lots to read and see. Not great for small children ( 4 ) and I don't think this is the target audience. Great friendly staff and very detailed stories but not quite right for us this time and that's our fault not the museum's. Recommend if you have an hour or two and you want to read and see some great history close up.
Ashley S — Google review
Really enjoyed seeing and reading all about Ernest Shackleton’s doomed expedition on the Endurance. It is very reading heavy accompanied by the photos and film taken on the expedition. There is a walk through area to immerse you in the story before reading all about it. At the end there is a large collection of items from various shipwrecks through time. I would say it isn’t good for younger children as they will likely get bored. My experience was lessened by a loud family with a bored child taking away from the atmosphere.
Nick B — Google review
Lovely little cove. Lots of places to get food and drink. £10 to enter the museum and to the lower levels of the dock. Access to one of the old ships which is great for kids. Beautiful view along the sea front with two very small pebble beaches. Probably not enough here to spend the day but easily entertain yourself for 3-4 hours.
Brad M — Google review
Well we finally got to visit 😃 this was our third attempt during our week here. as every time previously the car park was full and no parking on the hill into Charlestown too. Enjoyed all the exhibits including the Shackleton display very interesting with the full story from his ill fated expedition. Love the shipwreck museum too with information from Mary rose Tudor to modern day.

The Eden Project is an eco-park in England's Devon and Cornwall, offering a rich educational experience with artificial biomes housing plants from around the world. It is a popular destination for families and nature enthusiasts, providing a range of rewarding activities such as exploring the Lost Gardens of Heligan and enjoying the beaches along the St Austell coastline.
Amazing place to visit no matter the weather! There are the inside biomes which are amazing to see in the sun or rain and the wonderful outdoor gardens to see as well. There are great outdoor play areas for kids and if you're feeling adventurous a zip-line that goes over the eden project as well. Definitely worth pre-booking though, to avoid the queues.

Had a nice time here, if you like nature and plants it will be right up your street. Nice restaurant and gift shop. Bit overpriced but you expect it at this kind of place. Accessibility is fine but lots of lifts and walking about required. If you struggle with walking you’ll need a scooter or wheelchair for a nice day out.
Chris — Google review
My partner booked this for me as a treat on a recent break in Cornwall. My first thought was at approx £40 each was expensive but he had already booked it and I love plants so of course off I trotted. Having spent 5 hours there my mind is now changed on the admission price. I absolutely loved it. There is so much to see for plant lovers and it was a really relaxing walk round. Helped that the weather was great so we could take in all the outside areas too. Had our own packed lunch outside and a couple of cuppas in the cafes along the way.... be prepared to walk a lot and there are some steps/steeper areas but nothing too strenuous. If you have a mobility concern it may be worth checking with their team re accessibility etc. Everyone was really friendly and helpful and they all do an amazing job keeping this project maintained and thriving. I noticed they were installing an ice skating area while we were visiting so that would be lovely over the Autumn/Winter. Also if you re visit within 12 months it's free so that's a plus! All in all a great experience. 👍
H W — Google review
This attraction is a huge investment in nature and this partially justifies the high entry price, and anyone with a day ticket can return for free within a year. The biomes are magical and the range of plants and flora is amazing. The partridges walking around are cute! The scale is something to be seen. We visited in October and although we booked for 9:30, we arrived to be told the biomes would open around 10:15 or when they were ready?! There are a lot of older staff who just appear over the whole thing to be honest. It must be a nice place to work because none of the staff we met were overly helpful and seemed to be in no rush whatsoever despite long queues. Speaking to a couple making herbal conversation and they were just unfriendly or slightly sarcastic which seemed odd? It really wasn’t busy, but to get a cup of coffee you have to queue behind people buying meals or light bites so it takes forever. Only one gluten free option for kids, so I was charged an adult price for the worst prepared jacket potato ever. Sandwich was stale had to return it. Gift shop is lovely. My kids unusually asked for us not to return the following day as planned, so I think that says a lot. Wonderful place, needs a customer service reboot.
Nicola D — Google review
Lovely place with lots to see and learn. There are two biomes - The Rainforest Biome and The Mediterranean Biome. There are restaurants, gift shops, ice-scream kiosks. It was lovely to see the set-up for a wedding ceremony and reception in the Mediterranean Biome. Nature play grounds for kids. There are some seating areas all over, so you can take a break if needed. Beautiful views, sculptures and plants. It's a lot of walking. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Lovely experience overall.
Faye F — Google review
The Eden Project was built in 2001 at the bottom of an unused clay quarry and the location was carefully selected due to Cornwalls mild maritime climate. With it's futuristic looking bidomes boasts home to one of largest indoor rainforests complemented by a smaller Mediterranean dome which are both surrounded by outdoor gardens. There is an ice rink and zip lines if your feeling more adventurous (both are an extra cost) Expect to spend around 3-5 hours here. Bringing your own food is allowed, but there are also several places to eat. We found all the staff to be helpful. The carpark is included in the admission fee.
Villan C — Google review
Absolutely incredible place, come back year after year. The work done here is amazing. Beautiful plants. Great for everyone with lots of activities for the kids.
Kerry G — Google review
An absolutely unmissable experience for anyone interested in plants, the environment or just fantastic photography opportunities. The eden project has gone above and beyond to make the experience as accessible and environmentally conscious as possible. The biomes enable you to see nature in a way some people may otherwise never be able to experience in person. The restaurants use produce grown within the eden project and there are plenty of shops, restaurants and facilities throughout. It was a truly stimulating and educational experience.

Nestled above the picturesque Charlestown Harbour, Rebellion Roast House is a haven for meat lovers and food enthusiasts alike. This cozy spot specializes in an array of roasted and grilled delights, from succulent prawns to mouthwatering brisket and juicy burgers. While carnivores will revel in the Ultimate Rebellion Burger—loaded with pulled pork, brisket, crispy bacon, and your choice of cheese—the menu also caters to vegetarians with options like a kale and hemp burger or halloumi dishes.
We had a romantic meal in Rebellion Roast House in Charlestown last night. It was the first time we had been there and we really enjoyed it. The portions could have been bigger. And it's really expensive. But the food was very nice. We really liked it's unique rustic charm. They are a dog friendly restaurant which we loved. We will happily look forward to going back again.

We absolutely loved this place. The best food in town in our opinion Lovely roast on the Sunday, nice touches like tarragon butter on the veggies & proper cauliflower cheese Back again for delicious burgers & spicy fries on our last evening in town Lovely relaxed & friendly atmosphere First rate service
Rae R — Google review
We had a great evening at The Rebellion Roast House in Charlestown, which offers a good, varied menu with something to suit most tastes. One small disappointment was that a mushroom-based dish wasn’t available, which we found a little hard to understand especially as mushrooms featured in other items on the menu. It seemed like something could have been put together, but aside from that, everything else was excellent. The drinks selection was strong, with good beers, wine, and cocktails all well presented and served with a smile. The highlight of the night was definitely the 10-hour aged brisket beef absolutely out of this world. Tender, rich, and full of flavour, it’s a must-try dish that truly lives up to the hype. The atmosphere was lively but relaxed, and the service was friendly and efficient. Just one tip: you really must book ahead, as this place gets busy and for good reason. All in all, a fantastic experience that we’d happily recommend.

Never fails to impress. Had a beautifully cooked brisket of meat, it practically melted in the mouth. Vegetables were perfection as well. The staff were truly amazing, they made the place sparkle with their warmth and attentiveness. It's these little human touches that show they really care about the customer and are paying attention. The food was beyond delicious. Perfectly cooked and served quickly. I cannot thank everyone enough for such a lovely enjoyable evening.

Ordered online , found via Google. Easy enough to order and collection time was spot on. Pleasant looking shop and staff helpful. Children's meals well priced and portion size good for young teens. Adult size large cod was a bit thin and more tail end. Price was on the cheaper side for fish and chips these days but quality obviously reflected in the lower price. Chips had a fair few green / eyes in them not too bad but not the best. Zero gluten free options advertised at time of visit.

We are on holiday and thought we would try haddock and chips for two. Very disappointed with the quality of fish, it was watery and not hot in the middle mushy in consistency. Chips were average at best.
Joanne M — Google review
6.5/10 No qualms with haddock at price point, £6.20, chips however for £2.80 as some reviews detail a mix of fresh and old refried, not what you want. Curry sauce nearly £2 underwealming flavour and volume. No rush to return

Thoroughly recommended, will definitely visit again

A birthday weekend at Boscundle Manor was an absolute delight. Excellent in every way. We loved our room and the garden is beautiful. The staff are friendly and thoughtful, always seem to be available yet discreet and not at all overbearing. The breakfast and dinner we had were just right and the recommendation of wine, top notch. We would happily return for another stay and enjoy further talks with the owner about the unusual retrophyllum rospigliosii in the grounds.

Hub Box Pentewan is a highly recommended burger bar located right on the beach, offering excellent quality food and exceptional service. The staff, particularly Matt and Issy, are commended for their care and attention to providing a stellar customer experience. The menu includes options for kids as well as separate veggie/vegan choices, with a great selection of drinks. While the food could have been hotter, the quality and portion sizes were praised.
Great food all around and the cocktails were amazing ! The view to the ocean just topped off the experience. Only thing was the food was on the expensive side as the fries should come with the burgers !

When we arrived the friendly waitress managed to squeeze us in under the TV by the bar. We placed our order and waited. A young lad made our tea which he poured the water into our 2 teapots then let it stew for several minutes before bringing it over to us. I don’t mind strong Tea but my wife cannot drink it if it’s stewed as this was. I asked for some sweeteners and was given 2. Tough luck if you wanted more. Then we watched in amazement as the food pass filled up with orders ready to go out. The Kitchen staff were frantically ringing the bell to get service. 4 members of staff were stood behind the bar talking and laughing. They were serving drinks but all the food was going cold and not a single member of the front of house team seemed interested or bothered. Then our food arrived and yes you guessed it, it was stone cold. I ate mine as I was extremely hungry but my wife sent hers back. The kitchen reheated it and put it on the pass ringing the bell, then they rang the bell again and eventually the food was brought out, cold again. My wife ate it as she was also very hungry. We informed our friendly waitress who apologised and said she’d tell the manager, which she did do, the manager looked over at us and then just carried on with his day. Not a care in the world. It’s a lovely little place severely lacking in attention to detail and any leadership at all. Obviously that was just a snap shot of the place as we didn’t return (we were camping on site for a week). That was our experience and we definitely would not go back, definitely not recommended.

The rum punch is honestly the best cocktail I’ve ever had! Lowri went above and beyond to help me with a birthday present, which was so kind. The sea view and vibes are second to none, and all the staff are super friendly and welcoming. Can’t recommend enough

Fantastic food offered at the hub box, we had food over three days whilst on site at Pentewan Sands holiday park. It’s a shame there isn’t one near Norfolk, was served by two friendly staff And a really talented chef guy. Never had onion rings like these at the hub box every mouthful was delicious the smashed patty burgers were perfect the flavours all complimented each other. If you are staying here, local or just passing by do stop off! We are back off to Norfolk and I can already see myself dreaming of the burgers and onion rings whilst I’m out in the road working away once again. Top work guys!!

Day 2

Center of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Charlestown Harbour, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Moustache Jacks x Cluck n Chuck. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Heritage preservation
Historical landmark
Charlestown Harbour is a picturesque and historic late Georgian working port located near popular attractions like the Eden Project. This UNESCO World Heritage Site has been featured in TV shows and films, including Poldark. Visitors can admire old sailing boats and tall ships coming in and out of the harbor while enjoying the area's bars and restaurants. The surrounding countryside offers opportunities for beach visits and exploration. Additionally, there are modern accommodations available nearby with convenient amenities for a comfortable stay.
Historic and authentic link to Great Britain's dependency on it's seafaring traditions. At the moment, the harbour is undergoing some major refurbishments to it's gate and bridge. It doesn't look like it's going to be fixed anytime soon. In the meantime, you can walk around some of it and the are some street fooderies and bars along with pubs etc. There's parking too (note: no apps).

It’s a beautiful spot in the summer to spend an afternoon. The beach has pebbles, but is crystal blue. Lots of small shops and bars; harbour is under renovation and slightly jaded in parts, but a good stop to stopover on a camping trip or for afternoon drinks and snacks.
Ross M — Google review
We went during the "Off" season and that afforded us peace and quiet but unfortunately not a lot is open then. But if you are looking for pretty sea views with no tourists mid October is a great time to visit! There are a few quaint little shops just off the beach near the parking lot.
Harmony B — Google review
Trying to make a lot out of a fairly ordinary harbour by having lots of eateries around it and riding on the back of it being used in Poldark. Maybe once the new bridge is completed and the sunken wooden ship is repaired or removed, it might look better. They need to make a lot more of the history and reason for the construction. The car park is reasonable and the 20p per visit toilets at the car park are good.
Ian F — Google review
Great place to visit, usually very scenic. They're doing a lot of work on the harbour at the moment, so not so scenic. The biggest downside is how expensive everything is. Bought a tiny little ice cream for our 3 year old... almost £4. And businesses wonder why tourism is off in Cornwall. We're locals, so not going to be stung more than once. Really lovely, bring your own food, lol
Paul B — Google review
Lovely place. Theres a lot of work going on in the harbour with the new gate being installed, the harbour wall and beach being closed off and the cliff path towards Portpean is also closed. Probably best to wait till the works are completed (April 26?) before a visit.

Lovely little place. Sadly when we were there the harbour was having some construction work done. We will try to get back next year

I loved this little harbor, its a unique little place. Sadly theyre currently doing upgrade works, so isn't as nice as it could be, but its essential so thats just one of those things. A few gallery type shops and cafe, a lovely restaurant up the road, parking is cheap. Can definitely recommend as a way to kill a couple hours on a nice sunny day

Garden
Pinetum Gardens, located near St Austell, is a 30-acre family-run garden boasting over 6,000 plant species spread across themed gardens. The garden was created over 40 years ago and offers a tranquil experience with open park land, a lake, and mature oaks. Visitors can explore the Japanese garden and marvel at the Champion Trees while almost all plants are labeled for easy identification.
Today is my last day of a 5 day stay at the gardens and what a gift it has been to stay here. From my first contact prior to arriving, Ben was professional, helpful and knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with my plans to stay here alone. On the day of arrival Ben contacted me to check my arrival time and then met us (a friend decided to also stay here rather than the premier inn he had originally booked) when we arrived, with a warm welcome, making us feel at home immediately. He arranged for us to store our luggage until check in time. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable with everything you need. The bed is very comfortable and I loved the shower pressure. The gardens are simply magically and the most amazing place to start and end your day. The views from my bedroom and lounge areas were stunning. I looked forward to coming 'home' at the end of each day. David was also friendly and attended immediately when we had a question about using the hob. He also makes an amazing breakfast. There is someone on hand all day and into the night if you need any help. We have had a fantastic time including an amazing coastal walk, visiting Charlestown, Fowey, Polruan, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project including doing the parkrun. We walked to the Eden project and doing the parkrun gives you free entry. We had two amazing meals at Springtide and Edie's. We travelled everywhere by foot or bus - just have to make sure you are aware of the bus schedules. I cannot recommend Pinetum Gardens enough. Thank you for a wonderful stay and I look forward to my next visit.
Angela L — Google review
The Pinetum itself is absolutely wonderful. A huge collection of conifers and pine trees of every size, colour and shape. Truly spectacular. The other gardens are pleasant and it's a nice walk to the lake and around it. The winter garden is another highlight, as is the woodland walk, that you might miss if you're not careful.
Ant H — Google review
We found the gardens lovely, we only spent hour and 15 as we was going onto the Eden project could have stopped abit longer and there is a cafe. Wasn’t massive but was nice for us as a stop gap in between things. Found it a pretty walk round we fed the ducks aswell and got chased by the geese which will be a fond memory 😂 came with our son who enjoyed the walk round. Definitely a nice little place to visit.

Beautiful gardens in late September, not crowded, good parking and facilities. They have a few scooters for the less mobile, a great kitchen for good food and priced very well. Exquisitely maintained by experts in their fields (pun intended). We didn't stay in the on-site chalets so can't say what they are like but assuming they're run by the garden staff then I'm sure they're excellent? Cheers
Redman A — Google review
As a local pass holder I come here often with my children. We all love it, it’s such a lovely place to come all year around for a walk and feed the ducks. My only request would be to add a little natural play area! Pretty please!!

Pinetum Gardens is an absolute gem and a true delight to visit. The gardens are beautifully maintained, with such a variety of plants, trees, and peaceful corners to explore. Each area has its own charm —from the Japanese Garden to the Woodland Walk, everything feels lovingly cared for. It’s the perfect place to spend a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature. A must-visit for anyone who loves gardens and tranquillity!
Diana R — Google review
Beautiful grounds, with well cared for gardens combined with themed areas. Rooms are well fitted out with all that you’d need for a few days. The service was excellent- we were met on arrival and shown our cabin. David took the time to show us where everything was kept and how to work the heating etc. Only thing that stopped it being a 5/5 was the fact you can feel a draught coming through the windows when you’re sat on the sofa. Meant you get a cold neck watching TV! Would recommend staying and planning in some time to wander in the gardens too.

Had a lovely afternoon visit to Pinetum Gardens, the few staff were friendly and the grounds are very pretty and peaceful and worth a relaxing and enjoyable walk round. The cafe had a nice selection of treats too and friendly service. Recommend visiting if this is something that interests you. The plant varieties are impressive and well presented and the garden themes are interesting.

Moustache Jacks is a popular British cafe that offers delicious vegan and gluten-free burgers and chips. The service is always polite and the food always tasty, making it an ideal place to enjoy a relaxing meal with friends.
Visited this place whilst we were on holiday in Cornwall. Food was amazing, so good we came back the next day for breakfast and dinner! Friendly and quick service. My only complaint is that they don’t have a branch open 300 miles away in my hometown!

Our group of eight was exceptionally well accommodated at Moustache Jacks x Cluck n Chuck in St. Austell. The team arranged our seating with great care and efficiency, ensuring a comfortable and cohesive setting. Service was polished, attentive, and delivered with genuine warmth. The menu offered a diverse selection, with each dish prepared to a high culinary standard. Portions were generous, and the flavours were consistently well-received across the table. This venue demonstrated an outstanding ability to cater to larger parties without compromising quality or service. Highly recommended for both casual and refined group dining.

Enjoyed a bottomless brunch for a friends birthday yesterday and everything was great. Food was delicious and all served promptly. I had the Buffalo fries and they were insane! Great selection of drinks including cocktails and all included in the price. We weren’t kept waiting, drinks were flowing constantly for the full 90 mins. Service was great too. Thanks very much, I am sure we will be back if you’ll have us 😉

We have been here a number of times now, it's a lovely place. It's a bit more pricey than a few other local places however it's worth the extra couple quid. The actual place is gorgeous. The decor is stunning, tables are well spaced and it's never been overly crowded when we have been. The staff are friendly and you get good service. Their coffees are the best! I've tried coffee from everywhere and theirs is definitely the yummiest. The food portions are a good size too. I have one complaint, and that is that they have changed their beans!! I used to go here just for their beans, they were delicious. So unique and literally made the breakfast sooooo good. The cowboy beans were insanely tasty but now the Boston beans are rank, very sharp and just not good at all. However the rest of the food is insane and I appreciate how much effort they put into the presentation. All in all, by far one of the best places in the area for a breakfast! Their burgers etc. Are great too! Well worth the money!

We finally got round to visiting Moustache Jacks for a meal and were not disappointed! It's got a great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant. We each had a burger and shares some fries, tenders and Mac and cheese balls. It was all well presented and most importantly really tasty. I'd highly recommend. It is on another level compared to the other local chicken establishment.
Stacie T — Google review
Went here because of recommendations, selection of food was good and pretty standard. Quick service and friendly staff. Our only complaint was the sausage wasn't cooked enough and the egg was pretty greasy which affected the rest of the food. On a plate on its own it probably wouldn't affect the food so much but in a bagel or the toastie, the oil soaked through. Would I go again? Maybe, but only to try the actual breakfast. However, there are plenty of other places in the area where you can get a good breakfast. Not a bad place but nothing to shout about either. Very good coffee and drinks selection as well.

When I came to do a review, I noticed the score of 4.6 out of 5. I was shocked that it wasn’t 5 out of 5. I have been past many times but never tried this restaurant until a couple of weeks ago when my wife and myself experienced what has to be the best breakfast in St Austell. Not to mention they welcomed our dog. The service was outstanding and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and the food and drink is absolutely top quality. Yes, it is a little more expensive than some places but what you get for your money way exceeds anywhere else in town. Or the surrounding areas for that matter! I am writing this as I sit in this restaurant awaiting more yummy food and once again the service is exemplary. Keep it up guys, we will certainly be coming back again…and again!!

Costa Coffee is a popular counter-service chain that specializes in a delightful array of hot beverages, refreshing iced coolers, and an assortment of sweet treats and sandwiches. During my recent visit, I was curious about their birthday cake offer through the app. While the staff member at the till confirmed it with a simple "yes," I couldn't help but feel that a little more warmth would enhance the experience—especially on such a special occasion!
Fresh food delicious coffee and friendly staff. The prices is dependents what you looking for but no other coffee can compare with having a costa. The app gives you beans and when you have 8 you have a free coffee. Friday they have some rewards. The app was better before because with the points you was able to off some of the cost or buy something else not just coffee.

Just wanted to say that I was really impressed with the Saturday team today. They worked well together, tables were swiftly cleared & wiped & they were all friendly & served customers quickly & cheerfully. Well done guys.

I always find the staff at Costa not customer centric and across their stores I always get the feeling when being served that I am causing inconvenience, however I like Costa coffee and continue to go into their stores. On Friday 20th June I visited Costa Coffee, White River, St Austell and I have to say the three staff including a girl called Chloe were amazing. Not only did they know their products, they were kind, friendly and made me leave with a smile. They showed the same level of customer care to all customers in the store at that time. This truely was my best Costa experience which can be noted by me leaving a review as I very rarely do so. Please make sure these staff members get the recognition they deserve. They provided a family. Friendly and personal experience that you would expect from a small business and not an international chain. Great work guys and the refreshing drink was neither too sweet or too tart.

Visited Saturday. Never again. The place is absolutely filthy. Staff rude. Dirty tables full of cups etc. Staff stood about shouting at each other. Coffee was burnt, Milk was reheated twice while I was waiting. Left after 5 minutes and didn't drink the watery mess they called a flat white!

I suffered terrible food poisoning after having a Costa breakfast toasty. I should probably asked them to check the date on the packaging befoe they heated it up. After three hours of eating it I was ill beyond imagination, after five days I went to A&E and had to have elots of fluids via a canular. I was sent home only to call out an ambulane on the seventh day. I was then in Hospital for several nights.

Always a nosiy and busy store Service is OK, staff seem friendly enough. Seems to have changed some staff since I was there last Not a huge selection of cakes available, and it was only 10.30 am when we arrived Tables are always dirty, even when they are not busy. Tables are left with dirty cups and plates The toilets are average, not spotlessly cleaned. I don't know how often they are checked On my last visit, the back of the toilet was piled with empty toilet roll cardboard. Water on the floor from people using the dryer and tissues on the floor I don't rate this particular branch of Costa, nor many of them these days. It wasn't my choice of venue, but it appears it's the only cafe that stays open past 4pm in the precinct

The inviting atmosphere is enhanced by houseplants and quirky artwork, making it a delightful spot to unwind. Their La Marzocco coffee machine serves up exceptional Origin-toasted coffees that are sure to please any caffeine enthusiast.
Delicious coffee ☕️ delightful savoury (cheese) cream tea and scone with jam and cream. We sat outside with our dog in a sunny courtyard, but headed for the top corner closest the dog water bowl which allowed shade from the building (umbrellas were available in other tables). Service was prompt and friendly. We devoured the savoury tea before managing a photo. The cheese scones were served warm and melted in your mouth! Delightful! We will return! 🤗

We stayed locally and decided to have some breakfast in Charlestown, before heading over to this cafe for a coffee. I had their current “Guest” coffee and it was genuinely incredible. I’ve added a photo of the coffee details from my phone as you must try it if you visit imo! The cafe itself is quaint, and the staff were very accommodating; they even happily shared the name of a song on their music playlist with my friend. Oh and we had a chocolate cookie which was also lovely. Next time I’m down in Cornwall, I’ll most certainly be coming back. Thank you

Lovely little dog friendly café. Service with a smile and very clean. It was busy but I noticed the staff were very quick to clear tables. Our iced vanilla lattes were perfect. Hubby had the Cornish Brunch without tomatoes. I had the bacon and maple pancakes. I loved mine and hubby said his was great. It is dog friendly and the car park is around the corner. Pick your table and order inside with your table number. We don't live far and will be happy to return. (Note for photos: Partner added brown sauce before photos. Sausage link with pancakes were an extra add on for our dog).

Great little cafe (presumably a Longstore offshoot, as it’s attached). A small number of tables inside and more outside. Nice seaside blue and white vibe. We had tea, cappuccino and two sourdough toasties with roasted mushrooms, tomatoes, Emmental cheese and truffle mayo - with a refreshing but hot chilli and carrot salad in the side. £13 per head paid for very good quality. Food and drink was great and service fast and friendly. Other customers had young children and dog with them. Would recommend for sure.

We stopped by Short & Strong on what turned out to be the busiest day in Charlestown (thanks to the regatta, raft race, and general seaside buzz), so the area was loud and packed, but the café itself was a calm little corner. The Cornish brunch was pretty good, and the coffee (both hot and iced) was excellent. Staff were warm and welcoming, which made the experience even better. It’s attached to The Long Store, so expect a bit of shared atmosphere if it’s a busy day, but all in all, a tasty and pleasant visit. Nothing life-changing, but definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area.

We tried three different things! The “Reuben”—which has absolutely nothing to do with a Reuben sandwich—turned out way better than expected. The cheese and mushroom toast was the star of the meal for me, though I’d love to see it on some proper sourdough. The little fry-up was decent, nothing mind-blowing but solid. Drinks were spot-on with great options, and the chocolate chip cookie? Non-negotiable!!

During a recent visit to Watergate Bay, I had the pleasure of discovering East Meets West, a delightful restaurant just a short five-minute stroll from my accommodation. This was my second stay in the area, and I opted for their king room once again. The dining experience at East Meets West truly stood out; we enjoyed an all-you-can-eat buffet that was both innovative and satisfying.
All you can eat is absolutely delicious. My husband loves Chinese food and he really liked everything he tried. I am not fan of this kind of food but it was first time I tried so many dishes and every single one was very tasty. And banana fritters with ice cream was great finish to our lovely evening. Very polite and friendly lady who served us food and thank you to the Chef 🤗🎉

We visited for a family members birthday last night. I found we didn’t get a warm welcome everything seemed to be a bit rushed with ordering food etc. The starter was good so it looked promising for the main but how wrong was I. I ordered the king prawns with cashew nuts which had absolutely no flavour, the sauce was quite clumpy. Myself and a member of my family didn’t feel well during the night have felt quite sick today also. The duck didn’t come out how we thought it would and didn’t look very appetising at all so I didn’t touch it. Other members of the party who tried it didn’t rate the duck at all. I understand about not wanting to waste food but we felt like we had to eat all of it as the man serving wasn’t very approachable and basically told us if we didn’t eat the majority of it he’d refuse to serve us. The restaurant didn’t seem to have any atmosphere, I visited a few years back and I didn’t get the same experience as I got last night so unfortunately we will not be returning again.

We were extremely impressed with our experience this evening. Sit down buffet for 3 people. Order your food and its bought to you and then order more when ready, no heat lamps or sloppy serve yourself areas. The young waitor there was brilliant, made our experience great. Food quality was very impressive, quality of meat was great, veggie options were nice and you dont get much food waste due to sensible portion sizes and ordering only what you can eat.

If you are looking for a normal buffet restaurant, this is not the place. They will take orders from a menu and will bring the food. Some items are ok, but most dishes are coated in sugary sauces that will make you feel full. The children above 9 are charged at full price, where children under 14 or 15 eats barely anything 🤔. Parking is purely your luck. I think it is not value for money when you are paying £24 per head

Welcoming & friendly staff, hadn't booked but had a table for two, all you could eat buffet, as in order from menu as much as you can eat. Freshly prepared & good food. Prices for food ok but drinks pricey. Ok atmosphere. Recommended

The food was bland and tasteless, the chicken was rubbery, the chow mein was dry and we all was ill the next day. Avoid unless you like all of the above.

Went for the all you can eat menu, very very good!!! The best Chinese we have had in a long time. Dishes came out super fast, every dish really good and tasty, great service and constantly checking on us and taking orders very quickly. Very impressed and cider for £4.80! Totally worth it and will be going again!!

We booked in advance for a Wednesday as a group of 10 and had a great time. Not sure the name of the staff member (around midday Wednesday 22nd October) but she was very helpful and great fun. This is a great little spot and a really fun couple of hours. Really good value for money and the food and drink facilities were great too. Thank you for a lovely couple of hours

A brilliant place for a family day out, a very warm welcome, kind and friendly staff. Cafe has lots of food and drink options. The courses are great fun, clean and very well kept and tidy. Dog friendly was a bonus. It was a lovely place to visit for some family fun.highly recommend.

Fantastic place. Always great fun. Maybe have the course barcode on every hole or 2. Has i somehow lost the scores twice ( my own fault i expect) and had to walk back to hole 1. But one of the best days out you'll have A1

This place is amazing. Very well maintained, beautiful setting and great family activity. We were in Cornwall visiting from California and our 13 year-old son did the research online before we arrived in the UK. This was his most anticipated activity and it did not disappoint. It was even better than expected. We played 36 holes and the weather was perfect - sunny with blue skies. Cal welcomed us and helped us with some drinks and snacks. He was very friendly and helpful. Wish we had something like this back in California! Can’t wait to come back one day.

Kidzworld Adventure Play offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for families, including soft play, dodgems, mini-golf, roller-skating, and trampolines. The play area is spacious with plenty to do for children of all ages. There's a dedicated area for toddlers as well as attractions like a bouncy castle and arcade section for older kids. The staff are friendly and helpful, creating a lovely experience for visitors.
This was a godsend on the wettest day of our holiday. It got quite busy, and sessions are bookable in advance on their website, but it was a decent price to enter. The cafe was cheap for these types of places, which was a welcome change. For the kids there is way more than the average soft play, trampolining, roller skating, all included. There are some extras which are paid token-driven, such as arcade games etc. Saved our kids from going crazy in the caravan, and we stayed the whole session. Would definitely recommend.
Detailing B — Google review
Really surprised by how lovey this place is. Got loads in here yet still spacious. They have lots for all ages. Under 2 area is the largest I seen in all the soft plays I’ve been to with my little one. They have lots for older ones as well as a bouncy castle, trampolines, arcade section. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Lovely experience. A bit of a drive from where we live (about 35-40 mins) but would bring my little one again as he really enjoyed himself. Really clean and reasonable priced.

Great place to bring the kids to burn off some energy. Stuff very welcoming and friendly. Great range of slides and areas for the kids to play in. 5 stars.

Its okay, there's things for young kids. Disappointed that my little girl couldn't use the trampolines as she was to small. Other parts were good but not as good as it used to be.

Suprisingly lovely time had here one colder day during the summer holidays. Reasonable prices and the range of activities and equipment was decent (especially the roller skating). Very clean, decent enough selection of snacks at the cafe. Kids (aged 9&7) happily occupied for a couple of hours.

Menacuddle Well

4.6
(285)
Historical landmark
Menacuddle Well is a charming and tranquil Victorian garden located in the heart of St Austell. It was generously given to the community as a memorial for a fallen soldier from WWI. The well features a picturesque waterfall, surrounded by blooming rhododendrons and camellias, creating an enchanting atmosphere. This hidden gem is also home to a 15th-century Holy Well and the Druids Chair, making it an important religious site during the Middle Ages.
A lovely peaceful garden, with ancient well, Druids Seat and water cascade. Especially beautiful in Rhododendron season. There is a small parking area, or park at Priory carpark and walk 10mins. No entry fee. Accessible garden with pathways.
Tino N — Google review
Nice quiet little place with plenty of interest both historical and botanical. Well worth a visit if in the area, but watch yourself driving in and out from the road. Very small car park on site.
Nick N — Google review
Stunning sanctuary of peace, yes, it is a little difficult access by car and yes, it has a small parking area but the rewards are magical. We rode there on bikes, now that was difficult. Glad we did too. Worth a visit just to rest and ponder while the waterfall sounds rinse anxiety away. Sat watching Dragonflies dart around the pond for ages. And a big thanks to those that maintain the place. Excellent!
Redman A — Google review
Absolutely stunning hidden gem!! Been meaning to make it here for a while and so glad we did on this trip. Peaceful gardens with gorgeous waterfall!
Lee J — Google review
Beautiful spot. Not the easiest entrance from and a very difficult exit on to the main road but worth the effort. Lovely, well maintained paths and some picnic tables.
Nicola T — Google review
Beautiful and peaceful place , not too far from good and easy car park in city center. Lovely !
Heliotte S — Google review
Lovely little (tiny!) place for a very picturesque picnic stop or to cool off on a hot day. The turning off is very tight so prepare for it, and there is only parking for about 4 cars.
Martin S — Google review
A holy spot on the Michael Mary leylines. Peaceful picnic area, tire swing over river... Sacred stone well, where we leave our offerings )) .. large pond full of water lilies and dragonflies surrounded by mature rhododendron trees and other beautiful plants and flowers... and a magical waterfall at the end of a miniature rambing brook... It's heaven.. on earth 🕊️

Beach
Nature & Parks
Hemmick Beach is a hidden treasure nestled on the southern coast of Cornwall, close to Gorran Haven village. It offers a tranquil and secluded atmosphere, making it an ideal escape from the busier beaches in the area. The beach features a combination of golden sands and pebbles, bordered by striking cliffs and rocky formations that encircle the cove. While it is less frequented by visitors, reaching the beach can be challenging due to limited parking and a narrow road leading to it.
POST CODE IS PL26 6NY (NOT 6LL). Deep soft sanded medium sized beach with very easy access. The waves are good for surfing when the tide is right. There is a long stone wall to sit on if you just want to watch the waves (With a cup of tea in your hand). The coastal footpath from here heading north west can be very muddy in winter.
Ewan B — Google review
No parking. You have to walk half a mile mile to get to the beach. Downhill there and long struggle uphill after a day at the beach. Beach is quite rocky, and a known jelly fish and weaver fish spot so be careful. Also quite a strong tidal current. No lifeguards either. Don't sit under the cliffs because of danger of rock falls. No food facilties. At all. Much better beaches around.
Chris P — Google review
***Walk, electric bike, horse *** BEST WAY TO GET THERE. VERY NARROW ACCESS ROAD/TRACK.(LESS THAT 2 METRES IMHO) TOOOOO Narrow for most vehicles (Yes thats yours) it will be badly scratched.... 'NO PASSING PLACES'. YOU WILL HAVE TO BACKUP 1/4-1/2 a mile, more scratches... If you meet another vehicle or two, or three... It must of a wreckers Paradise hundreds of years ago when a ship was blown off course on too the beach and for Smugglers..... The beach is small stones/Gravel, with a tiny stream running into it ( when it hasn't rained for weeks).
Weleshboat I — Google review
The beach itself is very lovely, although, DO NOT DRIVE to this spot. I live in Cornwall and am used to lane driving BUT I've never experienced a journey through back lanes like this. The road is extremely narrow, the hedges are overgrown and you can't pass another car anywhere, even the odd gateway is very small and rare! Don't even think about reversing as this was almost impossible due to the roads movement. I didn't think I was going to fit through some areas of road and I had a smaller car. I would only recommend you walk to this beach from the small village. DO NOT attempt the parking spots that are advertised on Google maps.
Tina S — Google review
Beautiful beach with some great rock pools. Bit tricky to get to on narrow roads, don’t attempt if you have a new larger car as it may get scratched!! Car park is a 5 min walk, use the path not the road to walk to the beach.
Tim D — Google review
Lovely walk down from the Penare National Trust car park to this quiet sandy beach, dog friendly all year round which is a bonus. Don't try to park by the beach as there's not a lot of parking space. Nice to swim from (when the sea is warmer!).
Liza H — Google review
Used to be a beautiful beach but now ruined by inconsiderate people leaving rubbish broken glass and even hot remains of fires. Also, often many camper vans overnight by the beach and many don't have 'facilities' on board so be careful where your children dig in the sand. Totally spoilt by people who just don't care about others.
Robert F — Google review
Great beach to visit especially for the kids.Plenty of rock pools for the kids and interesting tunnels and rocks to run and hide behind.Sandiest closest to the road, coastal path and it gets more gritty as you get towards the sea. Access is by either walking the coastal path or by car.By car you will need to use the National Trust car park at Penare. Its a free car park but only has about 20 spaces so gets busy quite quickly as it's used by walkers to Dodman Point.

The Waterwheel Inn is a charming rural inn located in a wooded valley just a short walk from St Austell town. The inn offers comfortable B&B rooms with attractive decor, flat-screen TVs, and facilities for making tea and coffee. Guests can enjoy a full cooked breakfast each morning and dine in the elegant restaurant offering both 3-course meals and à la carte options. The picturesque 1.5-acre grounds provide a tranquil setting for guests to relax.
Had a 3 night stay here with my grandparents and it was absolutely fantastic! Lovely clean room with comfy beds, the bathroom was very small but it didn’t cause any issues and if that’s the only negative I could find then I think that’s pretty good! The food was delicious, great value and very generous portions! All the staff and owners were welcoming and friendly, especially the waitress we had on our last night (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch her name!) The gardens alone warrant 5 stars and the location is gorgeous! Thank you so much for a lovely stay, I’d definitely come back!

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast was made or order and tasted good. Staff was lovely. There’s not a ton to dinner the property, so we had to do a bit of diving during our holiday but we would recommend this hotel none the less. Also, they allow dogs which we very much appreciate.

Just had a wonderful 3 night stay here. Such a lovely place, beautiful gardens, lovely food. We had bed and breakfast and also had an evening meal one night. Delicious food. Really friendly staff. Beds were really comfortable. Mattress was great, quite soft which really suited my arthritis, but also suited my husband. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent inn, we were well looked after by very friendly staff. Breakfasts were amazing, cooked breakfast was made to order with great selection. We ate in several nights, also great selection. Now need to diet and dry out. Location was very handy for that part of Cornwall.

We stumbled upon this wonderful Inn by typing “dog friendly accommodation” into Google. It is also an adult only which was lovely. It was easy to find, although on a main road so lots of traffic noise during the day, but quietening down overnight. Our room was small but adequate and we stayed for two nights. The staff were super friendly and we sincerely felt right at home. Donna is outstanding. We had breakfast and an evening meal all of which were delicious and we even had a chat with Stan the chef to compliment him. When I say “we will be back” I am not lying. We had a really lovely relaxing time and the gardens are truly awesome. Thank you all 🙂🙏❤️

Bakery
Nile's Bakery is a popular bakery in Cornwall that does everything from fried breakfast in a box to pastys and cakes. The service is excellent, and the prices are reasonable. It would be great to see it open in Falmouth soon!
Each year, when we visit Cornwall, we do like a visit to Nile's to pick up picnic food! Today I had a cheese pastry, which was absolutely delicious, followed by a Kinder Slice which was divine, and my choice was supported by the lovely lady who took our family order. A return trip is needed to get another Kinder Slice. Lots of other takeaway food available including a vegan pasty. Also a busy looking cafe.
Elizabeth B — Google review
The Vegan Pasty was incredible. The best pasty I’ve ever had!!! Service was friendly and quick. Atmosphere is a busy and noisy cafe. Great for a quick bite or a grab and go.
Emma J — Google review
Nile's Bakery offers a true taste of Cornwall with their exceptional Cornish pasty. The star of the show is the Cornish skirt beef, which brings a rich, savory flavor to every bite. This traditional cut is tender and perfectly seasoned, making it a standout ingredient. What really sets these pasties apart is the attention to detail in sourcing. The potatoes, grown by the Dustow family in Fowey, are a testament to Nile’s commitment to quality. They add a subtle sweetness and hearty texture that perfectly complements the beef. The pastry itself is golden and flaky, holding everything together beautifully. Each bite of Nile’s steak pasty is a delicious nod to Cornwall’s culinary heritage. Whether you're a local or just visiting, these pasties are a must-try for an authentic Cornish experience. I was gifted this from a relative that recently visited the area.
Solly's — Google review
Decent bakery, expected more as closing time was still an hour away but we were told we could not eat inside. Only small amounts of pastry options available as apparently we came after three. The place was empty when we got there. The pastries and desser wasn't the greatest. Staff were helpful but seemed stand offish.

Great place to have breakfast and get plenty of yummy treats! Food quality is superb and price is very decent! Clean and friendly

Great cafe/bakery, 7 of us and they had a table out back we could fit round. Service was 11 out of 10, helpful, friendly, couldn't be better. Hot chocolates, milkshakes and coffee, all perfect. Cakes was spot on, the Danish pastry was brilliant. Being ex pastry baker I was impressed with it and the other cakes looked spot on. All in all great place to stop and there's 3 of these bakery's in the same area. Will stop by again for sure when we down this way again. Pics were an after thought 😁

Ordered a take away this evening and it was fantastic. Delicious food and very reasonable price wise for four people. Nice and hot upon collection with really friendly helpful staff. Didn't rate atmosphere due to it being a take away. Highly recommend well done :)

Came here with a few work mates, we were the only ones there 6.30pm.. no atmosphere, extremely slow service to the point where we thought we had been forgotten. Drinks ordered but only came once asked for a second time; food itself was average, my dish came out barely warm, looked fine, tasted average. Over priced, wouldn’t recommend. Plenty of other places around that are cheaper and tastier with more atmosphere.

I attended eastern paradise and frankly the place is far from paradise, I think they should reinvest in a rebranding and call there establishment Eastern Bagdad because I personally would have rather eaten in an active warzone than the place I went to. 44 british pounds which I will not be getting back a 2 hour wait for food and a table of children hiding behind a curtain. I recommend that under the chef’s recommendations on the menu that it is highlighted that customers should return back their homes and microwave a rustlers burger. Thanks

Nestled near St Austell, Wheal Martyn Clay Works is a captivating 26-acre museum and country park that immerses visitors in the rich heritage of Cornwall's china clay industry. This unique destination features historical exhibits that narrate the story of how this vital resource has influenced everyday life, from toothpaste to magazine gloss. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the scenic woodland walks and trails, while families can enjoy a fantastic children's play area complete with mini tractors, swings, and rope bridges.
A fantastic day out with the family! We stopped for a quick bite to eat at the cafe which was separate to the museum/works if you only wanted a bite, but opted to go in after. The site only gets bigger and more vast as you go on, and we ended up spending a tiring afternoon seeing all the site. A really lovely surprise and well run venue, we will most definitely be back!

Wheal Martyn is a really nice place to visit. Personally I found the history of China Clay very interesting. There are outside spaces where you can get a view of the current workings . The cafe is top quality and the toilets are clean. The staff were very friendly. We spent hours taking in the history so it was good value for money!

The St Austell Brewery Visitor Centre & Hicks Bar is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Located on Trevarthian Road, this Victorian brewery offers tours that provide a fascinating glimpse into its 150 years of brewing heritage, complete with massive copper tanks. Established in 1851, the brewery showcases the art of beer-making in Cornwall and invites visitors to indulge in a tasting session featuring their renowned ales like Tribute and Proper Job.
What a tour! Nick was excellent. His passion for the product and the company shone through and it made the tour! How he described the process, the history and the types of beers was easy to understand and informative. Would absolutely recommend. Also shout out to the gentleman in the shop, friendly and helpful when we arrived late. Thank you!

The bar or the tour? Unsurprisingly, there was a fine choice of St. Austell beers to choose from; but the food was also delicious and sold at a reasonable price. The meat in my burger was succulent and the fries were nicely cooked and hot. My wife ordered the nachos which we presented with liberal amounts of sour cream and guacamole. The tour? Well, thank you Dave for a highly informative and enjoyable 2 hours. Lots of interesting information was delivered, and Dave was ace; so was the tasting afterwards.

Loved it! We did the tour for £20. Nick was our guide and we had a fabulous 2 hours. The tastings are plentiful and so much fun ☺️

The Brewery is well worth a visit. Although we didn't do the tour this time as we had visited many years ago. We had a very interesting conversation with very knowledgeable member of staff about the changing Hicks family history of the brewery. Hicks bar itself is a beautifully arranged bar serving delicious food. Although we didn't eat this time, we enjoyed the ambience whilst having a drink brewed on site. It has a well stocked shop. We treated ourselves to a bottle of their rum Hicks 125 70% proof. Haven't opened it yet, just hope it's as good as the bottle we bought 25years ago !

St Austell Arts Centre is a gem in Cornwall's dining scene, offering delicious seafood and steaks in a stylish setting at The Longstore. Meanwhile, Rashleigh Arms provides hearty pub fare with a welcoming atmosphere. The venue hosts various acts and performances, although there are suggestions for better promotion.
Great little theatre. Sound system could be better. The Evita performance was fabulous from Bodmin theatre company. The lighting and sound guy needed some work though as he wasn't slick on the daybletting down the performers who gave it their all. The parking over spilled intp next door on the day which shows how popular it was. A nice little bar

Went to see Mark Steel... Booking was easy... Google maps got us there easily, parking was pretty much stress free. Spacious set out for purchasing drinks, snacks and merch. Nice intimate setting for an evening of entertainment, no stress or delay getting back out of the car park either. All together a great evening.

Very tired old building but run by volunteers who really look after their visitors. Old fashioned intervals with ice-creams and a bar. Some good shows at a venue that needs our support.

St Austell Kebab is a hidden gem that might not catch your eye at first, but it offers an impressive selection of delicious food. Many visitors have found the portion sizes to be generous and the prices quite fair for the quality provided. The menu allows you to customize your meal just how you like it, making each visit unique. While some may initially hesitate due to its appearance, regular patrons quickly discover that the welcoming staff and efficient service make up for any initial doubts.
Beautiful food to order, unless you make a mistake (like me) recommend to all. No hard feelings. Again. If you want a Spicy Pizza, ask the owner for a KEv. X

Used to always get my pizzas delivered from Roche Star but changed to here this year and never looking back. Great food, always hot, bigger pizzas and better quality cheese. Drivers are so polite and friendly. One day I will try the other food they offer but for now I'm just hooked on the pizza lol
Book W — Google review
This place is actually really nice. Contrary to many other reviews the sizes are good and for the quality and portion size I think the prices are reasonable. Lots of choice and you can really make it your own. Just because it may look like somewhere you may not want to step foot in, after many times of being there that feeling has long gone. The staff are polite and they really aren't slow, I waited longer in McDonalds, and SAK have online orders too. That in itself has had its own fair share of bad reviews, but the prices on there other than other restaurants online are price matched to in-store, I checked. For reference a large wrap and donner kebab, chips and cheesy chips is the same price as a can, a litre bottle, and the above food minus the chips plus delivery. I think this is a good restaurant keeping non chain takeaways in a moderate market area reputable.

Best pizza ever. Always arrives fresh, hot and quickly. Highly recommend.
Cassie — Google review
Ordered the chefs special box. Didn't come with any salad and coleslaw as promised. Only allowed one small sauce. Chicken was inedibly dry and was just small bit of breast not kebab. Feel completely ripped off, won't go back
Emily M — Google review
Absolutely disgusting service, our food had over 2 and a half hours late (I called 17 times for an updated but the called wasn’t answered over that period of time, expected delivery time was 15 minutes) food arrived cold and greasy. Unable to contact the complain as the phone isn’t answered. The food was ordered by a food delivery app. Total waste of money
Laura B — Google review
Placed an order online to be notified that it was 65 mins for delivery, after 2 hours were still waiting for our food, after calling the takeaway numerous times with no answer. 2 and half hours later driver turns up with our food which was then cold so we declined and asked for a refund this is no kind of service. Won't be ordering again.
Cherry S — Google review
We buy from here often and the food is always incredible. However, delivery can be incredibly slow. Sometimes it’s here within an hour, sometimes we wait nearly two hours. Sometimes they don’t answer the phone when we call to see where the food is.

Nestled in the heart of Cornwall, The Western Inn is a delightful pub that has quickly become a beloved local spot since my arrival in March. The warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the wonderful landlord and landlady makes it feel like home. With an array of new friends made here, I’ve enjoyed everything from delicious meals—like their trio of sausages with creamy mash—to lively evenings filled with karaoke fun.
Lively place with a juke box and pool table. The food was good, we really enjoyed it. Especially the loaded chips with chipotle chicken! Staff were also very friendly. Thank you - we’ll be back again soon. 😃

Great pub, amazing food and brilliant service. Thoroughly recommend the trio of sausages with lovely creamy mash. My husband loved his surf & turf burger and the chips were superb! We had a brilliant evening, really enjoyed the karaoke. Very friendly bar team they made us very welcome. Employee of the month should definitely be awarded to Kieran, especially as he doesn't even work there but had us in fits of laughter and entertained us whilst he served our food and drinks. I was very impressed with the basket of sanitary items in the ladies toilet for use should they be needed, very thoughtful & a wonderful idea.

Pizza Takeout
If you're in the mood for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Salty Bay Pizza Kitchen. This charming eatery has quickly become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, thanks to its welcoming atmosphere and outstanding service. Whether you choose to dine in or grab a takeaway, you'll be treated to delicious pizzas that boast generous toppings and unique flavors that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Absolutely incredible pizza cooked to a very high standard. I enjoyed it that much that I went for my dinner and then went back 3 hours later with another person. Tried the basic margarita pizza sauce was sweet and very tomato rich. Cheese was melted to perfection. One cool thing they do is they let you cut your own pizza if you want large slices you can have large slices, if you want smaller slices you can have smaller. One thing which isn’t great is the portion size of chips you get, this may sound weird but the portion size for the chips is huge after you have a 12” pizza then you have a bowl of chips aswell. To make a long story short I would highly recommend anyone to try salty bay pizza next time I’m in st Austell I’m having a salty bay pizza

OMG! 100/100 - super pizzas, they also specially catered for us as we don’t eat onion and garlic. The pizza taste fresh and authentic. We only came for a quick lunch bite but then came back for dinner too. Keep up guys. If you want to taste authentic pizzas then please visit. This would always be a go to place if I ever visit Cornwall again. ❤️❤️

What a lovely place! And so refreshing to have a few vegan options including vegan hotdog and beef! I had the Cheese Dawg pizza (photo) which did not disappoint and they accommodated my daughter having just ham and cheese. My husband loved his too! Big portion on the chips so great for sharing! And the staff were really lovely too 😊 perfect birthday meal!

My wife and I rolled home from lunch at Salty Bay Pizza Kitchen with full bellies, big smiles, and the immediate urge to tell everyone about it. This place doesn’t just serve pizza—it serves the kind of experience that makes you want to plan your next visit before you’ve even left the table. First things first: the staff deserve a standing ovation. Our server was the perfect mix of polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming— the kind of service that quietly elevates a good meal into a memorable one. The restaurant itself is dressed in a cool industrial style—modern, relaxed, and easy on the eyes. The menu matches the vibe: a great lineup of pizzas with fun, quirky names, plus a drinks list that covers everything from cocktails to soft options, so no one’s left out. Now, onto the food—because let’s be real, that’s why you’re here. Portions are generous (read: don’t underestimate the sides). My wife’s “house salad” was a full-on event—fresh, colorful, and leagues ahead of the usual sad lettuce mix. I went for fries, which are often an afterthought in restaurants. Not here. These were crispy, fluffy, piping hot, and seasoned to perfection. But of course, the star of the show is the pizza. And let me tell you, I’ve eaten pizza in New York and across Italy, and Salty Bay holds its own—dare I say, even surpassing some of them. The dough is hand-crafted with that ideal chewy-crust-meets-light-bite balance. I always test a new spot with a Margherita (no toppings to hide behind), and it was spot on: fresh, vibrant tomato sauce leading the charge, quality cheese, and not a drop of grease in sight. My wife went bold with the hilariously named Hot as Cluck, and it delivered all the fiery, chilli goodness promised. Final verdict? Salty Bay Pizza Kitchen is a real find. If you’re local, you’ll probably end up a regular like we plan to be. If you’re visiting, do yourself a favour and put it at the top of your list. Great service, gorgeous space, huge portions, and pizza that could go toe-to-toe with the best — it’s a win all around.

Great pizza. Decent portions and pizza toppings were very generous. Staff polite and attentive. Quick service. Not one negative. Highly recommended 👌.
Trish K — Google review
It's so rare to find a good gluten-free pizza base, but the one I had here was lovely! Tasted pretty much like a pizza base rather than cardboard, and had a lovely crisp texture without being powdery. I also had no cheese on my pizza and usually this is a pretty sad experience, but here they put enough of the other toppings on that it totally made up for no cheese, and the pizza was delicious! My partner had a "normal" pizza and his was fab too, so I'd definitely recommend it here anyway, but especially if you usually avoid pizza because dietary needs means they're usually just disappointing 😍

Charlestown Beach is a charming shingle shoreline divided by the harbor, featuring pebbles and small caves in the cliffs. The area offers geological interest and has been featured in movies like "The Eagles Have Landed," "Taboo," and "Dr. Who." Visitors can enjoy clear, almost tropical waters, well-kept surroundings with no litter in sight, and lovely views of the harbor/port.
We took a spontaneous trip here after going to the Eden Project and were pleasantly surprised both at the beach and the surrounding eateries and vibe. Would recommend visiting here if nearby!
Charlotte M — Google review
Have visited many times here it’s a nice little beach/harbour area it’s not somewhere you would choose to swim due to it being so rocky and the beach is only small but it is lovely to spend some time go for a little walk. You can park along the road or car parks which charge. There is often historic ships in the dock unfortunately we didn’t get to see the ‘pirate ships’ which was the carrot to get the kids to go… they liked seeing cannons and old barrels and the short walk. It’s lovely feels like a step back in time… it’s not your sandy day at the beach beach as long as your aware and your expectations are aligned then it’s great. Lots of bars, eateries and galleries plus a museum here so chance to learn a few things and educate yourself…
Ben — Google review
Nice little spot. Good parking which is relatively cheap. Plenty of places to eat and public toilets the museum is a little bit expensive at £8 each, although we didn’t go in so inside may be a spectacular! The harbour walls are pretty cool although the right hand side was closed when we visited.

Charming must visit little harbour with parking ( fee payable) at the top of the street, I believe it gets very busy in summer as thier are several places to eat and bars on the harbour side with outside seating. There is a couple of large vessel's permanently moored in the harbour one at least has a resturant on board - lovely little place ❤️

Stunning small beach. Worth a visit. The sea was so clear,it was almost tropical, and the sun was shining which made it even better. The beach was beautiful and well kept. No litter in sight. Lovely views out to sea and of the harbour/port. Definitely worth taking a walk down from the harbour. Even went for a little paddle as the water was so warm. Highly recommend the visit!

Historic Port of Charlestown, which was previously restricted to film crews, has reopened to the public since spring 2017. Visitors can explore the Georgian quays and may even have the chance to board a tall ship like the Kasjamoor, built in 1939. It's advisable to check if the port is open before visiting as it occasionally closes for filming. Joint tickets with the Charlestown Shipwreck & Heritage Centre are available.

I’m just never disappointed when I visit here! So pretty and peaceful. Easy to access car park with lots of choice for food and drink in and around the harbour, plus a long coastal walk adjoining if you’re into that. Definitely a must visit!

A beautifully stunning little place, full of character and history! The parking is an utter nightmare though - the single car park they've got there can, in no way, deal with the amount of traffic wanting to park! The single pub is permanently full in hot weather so you're forced down into the bars by the port, which are extortionate! I don't mind paying more for a place where you're a captive market, but this was a little silly. All in all I enjoyed my visit though and would recommend it to anyone wanting a nice few hours out... Just be prepared to the traffic and parking nightmare!

Whilst touring around Cornwall we visited here on our last night and the village is lovely! The port is very small but picturesque and parking was simple and reasonably priced. The bars and restaurants and food snacks all looked lovely from the outside and we ate in one of the local pubs The Riesling where the staff were very friendly and accommodating and dogs were allowed. Hubby had the burger and fries from the bar menu and I had prawn salad with new potatoes (restaurant was fully booked. Enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the village before heading back.

A lot of the stock can be over priced tat and nasty just like the customer service can be … although there are some nice & reasonable pieces as there are some nice reasonable staff but recent experiences have been very poor due to one particularly rude staff member who appears not only to not want to be working at this venue but is terribly rude towards customers in general. Should be retrained and educated in customer care and service if working in the public sector or let go off by the proprietor as this is turning away business rather than attracting it , this particular woman is very clearly causing a very unpleasant experience for a majority of customers..

My daughter visited this gallery when on holiday some years ago and she bought an original painting. When I was looking for some artwork for our new home, my daughter reminded me of Atishoo Gallery. We took in a previously-framed oil on canvas painting to seek advice on having it re-framed - and were quickly offered an option which was exactly what we had in mind for it! Happy with both the advice and price, we left it there, and a few weeks later received notification that it was ready to collect - picked it up later that day, and are very pleased with the finished article.

Always so helpful. I am a cross stitcher and always have them framed by Atishoo. They even made me a fire screen exactly as requested for one of my larger ones. Highly recommended! So pleased with the one I picked up yesterday. Thank you!

Springtide in Charlestown is a seafood restaurant located by the historic harbor, offering a relaxed dining experience with picturesque views. I had made a reservation through open table a couples of week ago. I’m glad I did! Very cozy ambience and had a nice view. The location is amazing. Atmosphere was lovely. The food was exceptional - I had seafood chowder, while my girlfriend enjoyed skate wing. Both dishes were delicious! Quality food, excellent service and beautiful setting. Staff were extremely friendly, attentive and helpful. Appreciate their hospitality and go extra miles to make sure my girlfriend’s birthday so special. Thank you so much for their efforts ( a mini sparkler on the brownie with honeycombs - absolutely delicious! ) to making the experience even better, worth every penny! You are a gem!! I would definitely recommend Springtide for a special dining occasion!

We were glad we booked dinner reservations online, as it was incredibly busy on a Monday night! This spot is a true hidden gem - delicious food, lovely ambiance, and top-notch service. David was super friendly and even surprised my husband with a complimentary glass of bubbly for his birthday. We couldn't find any fault with our dinner experience, so we'd highly recommend it!

Myself and my partner came to Springtide and we where not disappointed in the slightest. All the staff where really lovely and made sure we where well looked after throughout. The food was delicious. I ordered the scallops which where cooked to perfection for starters and my partner ordered the crab cocktail which was so creamy and yummy. For mains, I ordered the prawn linguine which I'm pretty sure had freshly made linguine and my partner ordered the seafood chowder which had an array of seafood all cooked beautifully. All the seafood was caught locally from the bay that the restaurant sits on which was amazing to hear. The price is high but you are definitely paying for quality food items here. Definitely worth visiting!

We were a group of six. The food here was excellent, everyone was incredibly happy and the service was 10/10. I unfortunately got sick from an oyster but I won’t blame the restaurant, you take your life in your hands when you eat them! Two others also had them and were completely fine, I just got unlucky. I would recommend people to come here, the fish is so fresh, and the crab mac and cheese is out of this world good.

We had an amazing meal light night! David very kindly look after us. I asked David for his recommendation on both main, starters and sides and he did not disappoint! Oysters were incredibly fresh, mussels were huge, and farmed less than 1mile from the restaurant. Wine selection was strong and all round a fantastic meal. If you’re on the fence, just go! You will not be disappointed. Not only was the food incredible, but the care and attention that was showed by David really elevated the meal! To the owner, if you’re reading this, David made our meal! Thanks, Conor & Betzy from London

Managed to get a walk-in table in high season which was lucky, had no idea what treat we are in for. Everything was perfect - great menu options, fresh seafood, local beer, good wine, outstanding service and great views. One of the best restaurants we visited during our week long road trip around Cornwall.
Kiril G — Google review
Delicious fresh seafood, price worth paying for. The mussels with the Thai broth was to die for, scallops were a bit over cooked and undersized for its price. Overall, would recommend it if you like a view of the harbour at sunset.

Had dinner here, food was very good and there was a nice atmosphere. Great for fresh sea food! Staff were attentive and friendly. The none sea food options were nice aswell and all was reasonably priced.

The Longstore Charlestown offers a modern dining experience with a nautical touch, featuring exposed brick and white wood walls. The restaurant is located in the historic harbour of Charlestown, known for its role in the BBC's adaptation of Poldark. The menu includes locally sourced steak and seafood dishes, such as fresh mussels in white wine sauce and seafood pancake. Visitors can enjoy views of tall ships while indulging in succulent steaks and seafood from land and sea.
An absolute must if you visit Cornwall- with views over the harbour, superb locally caught fish, sticky toffee pudding to die for …the chef and staff all deserve a shout out as they made our evening dining experience so special…..even sorting out a local cab to take us back to our hotel. Well done ……amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hard to miss in the beautiful town of Charlestown! Stylish and charming interiors with a young vibrant crew who were all attentive and friendly. Compliments to our server Katie who was also very courteous and patient. She steered me towards the Seafood Polenta dish which did not disappoint! She was also very knowledgeable about the menu helping out everyone in our group. Hats off to the chefs, everything was excellent, superbly flavoured and balanced. Great portions too! Fresh vegetables and tempting desserts! Do scuttle to the Longstore if you're in the area and you'll be leaving full and satisfied!

We always eat at the Longstore when we stay in nearby St Austell. Marvellous food, service and atmosphere. My son doesn’t eat red meat or fish any more, so his choice was somewhat limited but he said his portabello mushroom and mac n cheese pattie was the best burger (meat or veggie) he’s ever had. My husband had the cheeseburger and said it was fab. I had the shredded beef starter with chips and loved it. Great drinks, beer, wine and cocktail menu with some good low alcohol options Highly recommend the Longstore - we’ll definitely visit again. Make sure you pay for parking in the car park next door, even in an evening. We’ve been fined there before when we thought we might get away with it :(

Went today with my children for a Roast lunch!! I cannot recommend this enough!! I’ve eaten in the most beautiful restaurants all over but this was by far something else!!!I am welsh through and through and were known for loving gravy ……I did not add a drop of the extra gravy I asked for!!! There was a stunning variation of the most beautiful vegetables, each offering their own unreal flavours!!! The cauliflower cheese was by far the best I’ve ever tried!!! The lamb, homemade stuffing , roast potatoes were just something else!!!! We were looked after by the lovely staff and served with stunning wine and cocktails 🥰This was a celebration for myself, end of studies, and qualifying as a therapist …..there is nowhere else I would have picked! Thank you for the quality and wonderful atmosphere you offered today . Look forward to seeing you all again soon 🙏❤️

We visited for Sunday lunch, it was quite busy but we just managed to book a table. The service was great and the staff were polite and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious, well presented and good portion sizes. Would definitely recommend and would visit again if we're in the area.

Wow! An amazing evening meal. Even though this place is a steak and seafood restaurant we decided to try it out (as two vegans and two vegetarians) and we are very glad we did! The food we had was amazing, however we were more impressed with the options and the uniqueness of the food. It is very apparent that vegan and veggie food was not a back thought and it was something that was presented beautifully with tase that matched. The service was very quick and the staff were lovely and attentive. We will definitely be back and recommending to everyone! Thank you.

Great place with views. Good food and service and little expensive but average for the area. Can be cold if sat near open doors

Perfect Venue for Our 80th Birthday We booked The Longstore at Charlestown for a special family Sunday lunch to celebrate our loved one's 80th birthday, and what a wonderful choice it turned out to be! Our party of 15 had pre-ordered our meals (though we were actually 16 on the day), and the experience couldn't have been better. The atmosphere was absolutely brilliant – warm, welcoming, and perfect for a milestone celebration. The food was simply delicious. Every dish was beautifully prepared, and the portions were generous – there was plenty for everyone. We couldn't fault a single thing that came out of the kitchen Me and the other half had the sharing platter it was stunning . The staff were not only friendly and attentive but also went the extra mile with a lovely touch – complimentary fizz for our birthday girl . The Longstore I would highly recommend this venue for any special occasion or celebration. We'll definitely be returning

Nestled in the picturesque heart of Charlestown, The Boathouse is a delightful dining destination that perfectly blends charm and comfort. With its light-filled dining room adorned with wooden beams and an inviting beer garden, it’s an ideal spot for enjoying updated British cuisine. Guests can sip on expertly crafted cocktails while soaking up stunning views of the harbour from rustic outdoor seating.
Absolutely lovely restaurant and food. Very light and airy. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The starters were super tasty and came out quickly. I chose the meat pizza and my wife had the lamb ( photos attached). Wasn't waiting long between courses and wow we were full. I've brought half the pizza home! Desserts came out looking too good to eat. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be coming back.

Stopped in here after walking around the area, they allowed our dog to come in and we sat quietly in the corner. Lovely environment! My wife had the muscles for starter, she said they were the best she's ever had! Then for main she had haddock and chips, the only negative we could say about the whole thing was the fish was a touch dry, still tasty, not overly dry, but personally she'd have liked it a touch less. I had burger and chips, lots bacon is put on the burger, lots of chips to accompany it. Overall I would defiantly recommend and return to this restaurant!

Absolutely fantastic food; I had the stone bass, which was superb and really well presented, with wonderfully soft scallops. My wife, who's veggie, found plenty to choose from when other restaurants are just offering the same handful of dishes that others offer. Great service too. Just a shame we're on holiday as it means we can't come back easily!

We came here because we were recommended by the lodge’s manager, and it was really nice! The seafood was fresh and paired well with local beers. The platter was just the right amount of food for the two of us. They had a lovely outdoor garden space perfect for the summer :)

✨️Came here for an evening out with our little group for a hen do. Could have just been us but we felt we were getting awkward looks from a lot of the other diners, we weren't a rowdy bunch but obviously had sashes on saying who we were in relation to a wedding and we felt very much stared at throughout 😅 Anyway, the food was delicious and the cocktails! Recommend the expresso martini ! The sea food platters looked incredible ! Definitely a Cornish coastal vibes going on here !

Best seafood platter my Husband and I have had. We often get platters when on holiday or abroad but this was hands down the best one. It’s locked in for the next time we come down here. Staff also lovely. ❤️

Lovely Sunday roast dinner, beef that melted in your mouth and nice roast potatoes, loved the carrots & parsnips. The only thing was that the broccoli was al dente and hard to cut but didn’t spoil the overall experience. The service was quite slow on our visit unfortunately Feedback would be to have more choice of desserts

Takeout Restaurant
Charlestown Fish Co is a popular spot in the village of Charlestown, known for its delicious food and friendly service. Visitors rave about the delightful fish finger sandwiches and chips, as well as the mussels and chips recommended by the staff. The simple yet well-executed menu offers some of the best fish and chips around, with perfect chips and delicious light batter on the fish.
Nothing can be bettered than sitting out on an evening in Charlestown harbour with a fish n chip supper (and a beer). The fish was beautifully cooked with a crisp beer batter, and the chips were perfectly cooked. Every single patron that ate from here whilst we were there, congratulated and complimented the couple running the static stall at the side of the harbour and with good reason. If you visit Charlestown, you have to try their food. Fantastic.

Beautifully cooked fish and chips! Nice big portion with plenty of chips. Lovely crispy batter and can put your own salt and vinegar on! Perfect location right on the quay and plenty of benches! Would highly recommend.

What a lovely early evening we had at the harbour and this business was definitely the perfect place to eat! The cod was delicious and the chunky chips. All cooked fresh and to perfection. My partner had the crab ciabatta roll which he enjoyed also. The staff were very friendly! I can highly rate this business.

I wanted to try the fish& chips in Cornwall and Charlestown Fish Co. did not disappoint 👌. Huge portion of fish cod and natural chips that me and my husband shared and it was more than enough for us.

Wandered past for a pint and the gentleman serving was so lovely we thought we’d pop back for food too! Deliciously fresh food, would recommend the Gambas Pil Pil and the Fish and Chips. All delightful! We even got a bonus mini portion for our dog too. Thank you!
Connie W — Google review
Absolutely delicious food and hands-down the best chips we have ever had (no, that's not just an expression). We were staying nearby and fancied popping out somewhere local for tea. The Charlestown Fish Co did not disappoint. When we arrived, there were a few people already sat outside eating. I spoke to Tracey and mentioned that, thanks to multiple review photos and the amazing choices on offer, I didn't know what to have. She suggested the mussels and chips as I said I had not tried these before. She also pointed out that, if I turned around 180 degrees, you could see the mussel traps out in the distance (see photos). You literally can't get more local than that!! The mussels were absolutely and my wife adored the crab meat in the focaccia roll. The chips were easily the best we have both ever had. Amazing service by all three members of staff there today (sorry I didn't get your names). We will DEFINITELY be back. As other reviews have indicated, it is slightly on the pricey side but I'd say this is more than worth it, as it's not your big standard fish and chips.
Dan C — Google review
Really tasty seafood and delicious chips! We ate here on a warm evening and there was a really lovely atmosphere. We had the local mussels in a cider and bacon sauce and they were delicious and the portion was big! The crab sandwich was also good, but not as special as the mussels. It is pricey, likely around what you may pay in a restaurant, but the quality was very good so I didn't feel ripped off. The staff/owner? was really friendly and helpful, it being very popular there was a long wait for food but she made everyone aware before they ordered and the wait was pretty accurate.
Iris H — Google review
We stumbled upon this place during our visit to Charlestown and it was one of the best fish and chips we've had. The batter was light and crisp, the fish meaty and tender and the chips equally tasty and all for a good price with a lovely view over the water. Can't recommend this place enough if you're looking for a good fish and chips!
