Lowestoft in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Lowestoft, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Lowestoft is Britain’s most easterly town, known for its sandy Blue Flag beaches and early-morning North Sea sunrises. Its seafront mixes traditional seaside attractions with a working harbor and views of offshore wind farms that reflect the area’s maritime and energy heritage. Nearby, the Carlton Marshes nature reserve offers walking trails and wildlife typical of the Broads National Park. The town also has links to Victorian resort history and maritime heritage, visible in its museums and historic buildings.
With favorites like New Raj Mahal, East Anglia Transport Museum, and Marina Theatre, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Burger King and The Pantry so you can get the best taste of Lowestoft while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park, situated near Lowestoft town, offers a wide range of thrilling rides and attractions for visitors of all ages. From adrenaline-pumping thrill rides like Wipeout and Fireball to family-friendly options such as Tales of the Coast and Snake in the Grass, there's something for everyone. The park also features a kiddie zone and entertaining animal shows like the popular Sea Lion Show.
Great place! Yes it’s a bit run down in places but it’s great value for money and I’m sure updating it further would drive the prices up. No queues, lots to do, there’s some great rides and we went with children ages 4 through to 12 years old and they all had a great day. Even us adults had fun! Sea lion show and circus were great, It’s so nostalgic having gone every year as a child. Love seeing a lot of the rides from then are still here. Fun day out

Awesome park for the price.. Every member of staff was lovely. I ve been to so many amusement parks and I felt staff here - really kept it alive and going. Yes some rides are old and slow but they also have some amazing new ones.. There is something for everyone no mater how tall or small. Did bumper cars after a long time.. Spinning teacups.. A big shout out to the animal handler for the sea lions as well as birds of paradise. She was very passionate and kind . Just those two shows make up for the price of the ticket I think.. the animals and birds are in great shape and it shows how much they are loved. And we all loved it too.. Best ride : Shiver me timbers! Went twice on a number of the rides Parking :3£ for the whole day paid via Ringo app or the reception.

A great day out, I haven't been since I was a child so to take my kids was quite special! Only downside was the log floom was closed early on in the day for maintenance and never reopened. The park itself is great, but it looks quite tired and would benefit from some updates! I remember as a child a lovely boat ride with a story, sadly those little mellow rides for small kids don't exist. So if you plan on taking your kids, I'd aim it for 9+ so they can ride everything. As it's quite limited for smaller, young children.
Kate P — Google review
We’ve been coming to Pleasurewood Hills for the past few years, and the kids always have a great time – they aren’t too bothered about the appearance. The prices are reasonable too. That said, the whole park is really in need of some TLC. The train ride was disappointing, with nothing much to see other than broken fences and “behind the scenes” areas. A lot of the rides feel quite old now, and the excitement is starting to fade. The castle, in particular, has so much potential but looks tired and run down. It feels like each year the park is getting a little worse, rather than better. The staff don’t seem especially happy, though to their credit they are still very enthusiastic and welcoming when running the rides. I really hope the park gets the love and attention it deserves – it could be amazing again with some investment and care..
Samantha L — Google review
Great theme park. Some nice rollercoasters, but plenty for younger kids. There was a birds of paradise show and a sea lion and seal display. Food was pretty good and plenty of toilets dotted around. Plenty of parking too.
Greg R — Google review
If it wasn't for the fact that I paid to get in, I could have been an urban explorer looking around an abandoned theme park. Sorry (not sorry) this place is now an absolute disgrace - fallen from a lovely local attraction to a theme park that has been allowed to fall apart. So sad to see; lots of investment 11 years ago when we first visited but neglected since due to false promises, it seems, by 'Looping Group', the French company that bought the park some years ago. This company seem to be wringing the last possible finance from the park before it is closed. Some of the rides today were closed 'for maintenence' (which is a concern in its own right), staff were lovely, but it's pretty clear they are fed up. Plus points: 1. The park was open. 2. The staff were friendly. Negative points: 1. The park was open. Please (pretty please, with a cherry on top) someone tell Laurent Bruloy (owner of Looping Group) that his takeover of this theme park and subsequent management is the worst thing that could have happened in its history. Urbex (joke) pictures attached; these were taken today (1st August 2025 - peak season) while the park should have been in full swing.. zoom in to see the filthy condition of pretty much everything. To the person at Pleasurewood Hills whose job it is to respond to reviews; don't bother (I've read the copy/paste 'sad' to receive 1/5 etc..) forward this review to senior management before it is, truly, too late for you all.

We visited Pleasurewood Hills during half term (Halloween week) with my wife and children, and while the rides were exactly as others have said — a bit dated and uninspiring — the animal shows completely blew us away! The Sealion Show – Absolutely Incredible! We started the day at the Sealion show and honestly, I didn’t expect to be that impressed — but wow, I was speechless! These Sealions were jumping to hit targets, balancing balls, and interacting so cleverly with the trainers. The energy was electric! The trainers’ passion and bond with the animals really shone through — you can tell they love what they do and deeply care about these amazing creatures. It was the perfect start to our day! The Bird Show – Unexpectedly Brilliant! Next, my youngest wanted to see the bird show, and though I’m not usually a bird fan, I was completely won over. The presenters (the same team as the Sealions) were bursting with enthusiasm and knowledge. When one of them brought the owl around the audience so we could see it up close, my daughter’s face lit up — that moment made her entire day. We’ve seen bird shows across the UK, but none come close to this level of connection and care. Just fantastic! Creepy Cave – Hidden Gem of the Park! Later, we stumbled upon the Creepy Cave, and again I was amazed. We were greeted by Jack, who was so warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. His knowledge of the reptiles and insects was brilliant. From the frogs to the chance to hold a millipede, it was such an unexpected highlight! I was disappointed to hear it’s only open for Halloween week — it deserves to be a permanent attraction. Final Thoughts Forget the rides — the real magic at Pleasurewood Hills lies with the animals and the people who care for them. The Sealion trainers, the bird presenters, and Jack in the Creepy Cave all made our day truly special. If I could personally thank them, I absolutely would. This park should focus on what it does best — the animal experiences and shows — because they are outstanding!
Paul G — Google review
We went yesterday to this place and we loved it.No waiting time to go on the rides which was amazing was able to go on all the rides over and over again. Would recommend everyone to visit this. Great value of money and lots of toilets and lots of places to have a picnic with friends and family.

Laurence, Luke and Daisy were fantastic when my mum came to trade in her phone. They worked with us to make sure she was leaving with the best deal getting out of her contract with EE, they were very patient and explained to her all the options. We were in the store for over an hour and everyone was very nice! Definitely recommend.

Came here with a broken phone and absolutely zero knowledge on what to do next. The lady who helped me was so kind, she helped me pick out something new and explained everything I needed to know in great detail. The customer service I experienced was very reassuring and helpful, I'm very glad I came here!

Based on yesterday's experience, superb customer service from the nicest and incredibly knowledgeable guys. They sorted us a phone, walked us through the setting up of a credit account and explained everything with crystal clarity. Many thanks.

Nice shop, good stock but unfortunately they didn't have the cooker i wanted in stock so ordered from their website. Small delivery charge and took old one away for 25 quid. No complaints and delivery drivers were very helpful and respectful of property and product

Went in to price up speakers. Very good service. They are very helpful and have the best electric shop in Suffolk. The parking made it an easy task. All wheel chair friendly. I ended up spending a £1000 on new equipment and saved £300 . Very good for hp as well as great services. All layed out well. Can't nock there prices as they have a promotion on at the moment. Where they will match any price anywhere. Price Promise. Great time to bye. Don't forget the bye know pay later deals on some products. Not bad interest rate.

Went into browse for ereaders, more curious than wanting to buy. 4 members of staff asked if I needed any help and was I looking to buy within 2 minutes of walking in. Including one who appeared to deliberately stand in my way forcing an answer and making me feel pressured. Walked out and won't be returning.
James G — Google review
Friendly, attentive and knowledgable staff. Explained everything, including bolt-ons, product support and pointers on getting set up. Made my tech purchasing experience as quick and easy as possible. Would definitely recommend.

Refused to take a hoover back less than 24 hrs after purchase saying wasn't faulty. Spent 300 on it and its terrible. I filed a complaint and currys never returned with a call like they said they would within 24 hrs. I've now purchased a shark vacuum and its picked up half a tray full of dirt after I used currys crap 300 pound vacuum! Customer service and complaints tram are crap so now have a 300 quid ornaments sitting in the corner!

Pet owners will appreciate the presence of Pets at Home for their furry companions' needs. The retail park offers well-maintained facilities and a relatively quiet shopping environment.
Great retail park, and very busy. Bit short on disabled slots near shops but there are some on opposite side of car park where we generally manage to get a space. Apart from this relatively minor problem the wife and I love the place. Great assortment of shops and a Costa coffee, Burger King, and Subway to get food as well as Morrisons restaurant.

Located in Lowestoft, the Marina Theatre is a historic venue dating back to the 1870s. It offers a diverse range of entertainment including theatre, dance, musical performances, film screenings, live music, and stand-up comedy. The 800-capacity theatre also features a cafe bar and shop. Additionally, it hosts family-friendly events throughout the year and is known for its popular Panto during the festive season.
Me and my wife regularly come to the theatre to watch a variety of shows and we enjoy every time the atmosphere is electric and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have an easy access disabled toilet right next to the actual room If you’re visiting Lowstoft I highly recommend you visit the marina.

The show was good. Only issue is the seating are designed for people that are small. Totally No leg room, and squashed up to the next person. I'm not large person but still not good space. They really need to redo and replace seats . Price wise, was a little of price. Could of seen same show £4 less at Yarmouth. Over it was the show I wanted to see. Just a shame let down by the theatre 🎥

Me and my friend sent to their glam rock show. It was fantastic. Lovely helpful staff and great atmosphere. Definitely like to revisit again soon Thank you everyone involved 😁

The show was fabulous. They say that the seats are the same, but I didn't find them comfortable and mine felt like it was tipping forward. Otherwise everything was great.

Lovely little theatre with equally lovely staff. I've been several times. Currently closed for renovations. Re-opens in October 2025. Will be interesting to see what's changed.

My Brother and I have been going to the Marina theatre for the last two years and have seen a lot of different shows the most recent being Anton Du Beke and it was a marvelous evening and a signed copy of his latest novel. We are going to The Cats Pyjamas Griff Rhys Jones show and now they have refurbished the theatre it is even more enjoyable. Top marks and I look forward to going again soon. The staff are really lovely and helpful.

Ness Point

4.0
(1094)
Lowestoft Ness Point is the easternmost point in the United Kingdom, marked by a ground marker displaying distances to various places around the world. It offers a unique experience of being the first place to see the sun rise on summer solstice day. Despite its proximity to an industrial estate, it boasts a lovely atmosphere with about 60 people gathering to witness the sunrise. The area features a compass showing the easterly point and distances to different capitals as well as Sealand.
Most easterly point of Mainland Britain. Cool feature of distances to many western cities and countries on the circular dial install. Its a visit to say that you've been.
Jermaine N — Google review
Little landmark marking the most eastern point of the UK. Take some pictures and read all the blurb and then you can say you've done it. Some of the tiles seem to be missing, so it might be in need of a little maintenance. Advise taking the scenic route along the coast rather than through the industrial estate (even if the wind turbine is interesting to walk around).
Tom D — Google review
If you are interested in being at the most easterly point in England then this is the place to be! Tucked away behind the birds eye factory on an industrial estate, looks like at some point it was made quite fancy but now a bit run down.
Hamish C — Google review
It's disappointing due to vandalism Parts of the display were missing. Its a shame that a bit more of Ness Point has not been provided to make the public more aware of it's significance.
Willem H — Google review
I liked the slightly isolated feel of Ness Point. The park area nearby has been beautifully designed. The industrial area gave it real atmosphere and the dial with the equinoxes and distance to various places was interesting.
Sarah A — Google review
Not really an attraction, but it's the most easterly point if the UK and it's got a big circle telling you distances to different counties. Go there more to say you've been the the eastern point.
Scot W — Google review
Great promenade to walk along the beach in Lowestofte! This beach is one of the most accessible I have seen along East Coast, with multi tear beach hut options, multi car parks, wheelchair/mobile aid path up along the beach, smooth wide path miles along the ocean. Secret gem - will be back!
Jess H — Google review
Strangely at the back of an industrial estate and behind the Birds Eye factory but least it's easy to find. The area has a cobbled street effect so you know it's different to the industrial estate. The plaque had a piece missing around the edge when I was there. Still able to see other areas and distances. Worth a visit but if looking for other things to do....there is not a lot apart from looking out to sea or at factories behind you.... enough info to say you have been there and what the area is...so tick another part of the world completed

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a well-known fast food chain serving burgers, fries and shakes. The burgers are delicious and come lovely and hot. The restaurant is perfect for a quick meal.
Popped in here after a day out as my wife is more a Mcdonalds fan and i wanted to try the new Wagyu burger so we ended up here :). The food was really nice was impressed by the new burger but not sure its worth the price difference. Staff where friendly it took a little bit of time to come out but they where busy and i always find there food is cooked and tastes better than MacDonald's.
Sir W — Google review
I always enjoy Burger King, although just lately the food has not been served hot. Several times we have received our food and the burgers have been lukewarm. Its unfortunate as they had always been hot and lovely. Its like the place has lost pride in themselves. I've been going to this burger king since they opened, so I know how good it used to be. It seems that the staff are more worried about drive through customers rather than the customers standing in the restaurant. It's a shame as what was once a good thing seems to have been again taken over by drive through.
Élan L — Google review
Popped in on my lunch break for something small to eat - on a budget because I'm starting uni soon. Luckily for me, I was served by Katie, who coincidentally is planning on going to the same uni as me! She was lovely, we had a nice chat and she helped me order something budget-friendly. The wait time wasn't too bad and the food itself was great. Will definitely be making this my usual Burger King!
Ruby S — Google review
I came to visit my friend recently, and he took me down to Burger King for a meal just for a catch up and everything was spectacular. The staff were respectful and well spoken, they were asking me if everything were up to scratch and it were, so there were no issues at all. The meal was tasty and the drinks were nice and cool with the option of ice instead of it being force on you.
STEVEN S — Google review
I'm not a regular takeaway customer. But I felt I needed to give credit where deserved. On arrival I was greeted in a friendly but professional manner. The staff were efficient and helpful throughout. It's so nice to feel welcomed. The main thing is that the chicken burger I had was delicious. I won't hesitate to dine there again. Well done management and staff. Keep up the high standards. Cc

Popped in today with my little boy, clean and the food was great. A lovely staff member named Leah was quick to serve me. extremely friendly and with a big smile, will definitely be visiting again.

Would rate 0 if I could. What a joke of an establishment. Constant problems every single time I go here busy or not, have to wait 20-25 minutes for a simple order. Orders wrong, chips missing. BK seriously needs to start cracking the whip on this one, because I can’t imagine they’re making much money off it. Whenever I go to the ones in Ipswich, always fast and efficient!!
Leon D — Google review
After a long drive with my family (of 4) I was looking forward to a mean which I had previously at burger king. At this occasion the service was sadly lacking and the food was the most disappointing. Not only was the staff uninviting and rude the cokes (4) was warm and flat with no ice. The whopper looked like road kill and the chips were warm no were near hot. The three cheeseburgers were warm and not very tasty. I was most disappointing as we have had nice meals at burger king and this is the reason we went after a long drive. I most certainly will not recommend this to any holiday makers due to recent experience. I will think twice before I walk into burger king again. PS: I have been to numerous burger kings including the one at filey haven park which I found the service impeccable and the food very delicious.

Fried chicken takeaway
Mediterranean Kebab House has received mixed reviews lately, with some customers expressing disappointment in the quality of their recent orders. However, others have had a great experience, praising the generous portions and delicious food. One customer particularly enjoyed the doner kebab, highlighting the generous serving size and flavorful meat. Despite some concerns about temperature upon delivery, many patrons appreciate the tasty kebab meat and chips with garlic sauce as well as the friendly staff.
Hands down the best doner kebab I've had in a very long time, meat was amazing and huge serving to, not to sure about the tarmamind style Sauce, but it something different, I'm only going to be buying my doners frim from there from now on, truly delicious.

I don't know if it's been taken over, but the lack of patience over the phone is by far the worse I've ever experienced. You give your order and straight away he wants to put the phone down, even when you make a point of trying to explain as to what you would like on your Kebab and drink, he's to busy rushing to get rid of you. I had to return an order of chicken and chips, as the chicken was rank and someone or something had already had a good munch on the drumstick. I haven't a clue as to what is going on there now, but it certainly will not last long the way they are going.

order never turned up after saying it was delivered on food hub, called the takeaway and they said it was too busy and only one driver. currently 2am with no takeaway in sight and food hub not willing to do a refund.

Ordered on Tuesday night and did not get delivered. Said they phoned to say they were outside but I got no phone call. I asked did they knock and the reply I got was no because it was late. I asked for a refund because it didn't turn up and they said no because it was my fault it didn't get delivered. Will definitely not be ordering from here again. If your going to deliver something bloody knock on the door. The reciever is expecting you to knock not stand outside and then leave.

I would not even give this a star. I order food at 17:50 and it arrived at 19:20. When my order arrived it was the wrong order. I called the Restaurant and they said they would send me out a new order. 20 mins later the driver showed up and he had only half the order. So he went back to get the rest of the order. Another 30 mins later the driver showed up and the chicken burger i ordered was horrible. The Chicken was cold and dry, the bun was burnt and there was no sauce in the burger. Overall i would never order form here again and i suggest no one else does either

We visited this place to celebrate my first paycheck. I love the unlimited fizzy drinks, and the food was really nice. I particularly enjoyed the mini brownie and hot chocolate. Our waiter, Chrissy, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She gave us plenty of time to choose our drinks and food, and she did an amazing job.

Since my hometown doesn’t have a Harvester, a friend and I decided to drive 30 miles to the nearest one in Lowestoft. Despite a delay caused by a traffic accident, we eventually arrived and were warmly welcomed by the reception staff, who quickly led us to our table. Our server, Divide, was both professional and charming; she took our order and thoughtfully recommended some items from the new menu launched that day, enhancing the comfortable and inviting atmosphere. I opted for Harvester’s Famous Full Rack of Ribs, served with classic chips and salad, which I helped myself to from the salad bar, paired with a medium glass of orange juice. The ribs were tender, falling off the bone, and cooked to perfection. During our visit, I used the men’s restroom, which was clean and well kept. Parking was easy as I found a spot directly opposite the main entrance. All in all, we enjoyed a delightful and satisfying evening

I visited Harvester to celebrate my boyfriend's first paycheck from his new job, and I must say, the experience was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious so is the salad bar. However, I do wish there was a bit more variety on the menu. Aside from that, Harvester truly exceeded my expectations!

Over all experience not very pleasant, I struggle to find something vegetarian has most things on the menu was unavailable my vegetarian burger and chips were cold with some not very nice dressing on, chips had black speckles on them, my friend’s Gammon steak was cooked on one side, and a,so note very hot, the salad bar was terrible mainly pasta . Our waitress Jodie was very attentive and professional, and apologised she didn’t charge us for my burger. Not sure I would return. But thank you to waitress Jodie for explaining things and being easy to talk with. Ps, Toilets not very clean.

I ate at this Harvester on Monday 21st July. My family and I were staying in Great Yarmouth and fancied a Harvester. Potters Kiln came up as the nearest Harvester. We had not booked in advance for our table at lunch time. From the moment we entered we were met with a nice man who was front of house who was able to seat us straight away. We didn't get the name of our waitress but she had black hair on one side and blonde on the other side with piercings, she made us feel right at home and was so accommodating and lovely. One of my children has a food allergy and she went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable with what we were ordering and was very informative about allergies. The restaurant was very clean, salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Our drinks were served quite quickly and there was not to much of a wait on food while we piled up our salad bowls. My steak I asked for well done and was cooked to perfection. All the meals my family ordered aswell as my children really enjoyed their food and it was a thumbs up from the kids. We were spoilt for choice with the dessert selection, my son was so glad their was a vegan ice cream choice. All our desserts were tasty and presented well. Their was plenty of parking avaliable. The toilets were really clean. I would definitely recommend visiting this Harvester.

We haven't been to the Potters Kiln for a while and decided to visit there for a change. Lovely atmosphere and very clean. Excellent varied menu, suitable for all dietary requirements. Our waitress 'Ariel' was fantastic. So friendly with everyone and not at all flustered whilst coping with quite a few tables at the same time. Today's experience was enough to encourage me to book a table for my family when we can celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks time. Looking forward to visiting again.

Visited today with my daughter and grandson. Perfect place for families. Lots of animals & birds to see. Large sandpit and play area for the little ones to play in. Went into the gift shop after and the prices of items were quite reasonable compared to other zoos we have visited. The price to get in was really cheap. Highly recommend

An absolutely fantastic day out, it was our first visit here and my toddler loved it. There was so much to see, the enclosures and park as a whole are really nicely designed, with plenty to see and do for all ages. The staff were very helpful and friendly, with a particular shout out to George who was leading the hourly talks and was extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to chat after each one to answer any questions. Excellent value for money, one of the best out of the zoos I've visited in recent years and highly recommended!
Chris W — Google review
I visited with my wife and toddler as a family day out for his second birthday. The zoo itself is lovely, with large enclosures and loads of animals to see. Unfortunately, possibly due to the time of year, only one cafe was open. This filled up very quickly at midday with very few tables inside, which wasn't helped by a sudden rain shower. There are plenty of outdoor picnic tables and places to eat if you bring in your own food, which may be necessary outside peak season. We purchased the tickets online the night before, as recommended on the website, this gave us a small saving and meant we went in quickly upon arrival. For the size of the site, it's good value for money and would recommend it as a family day out for those in the area. My only criticism would be the signs for the car park could be bigger and clearer. Upon arrival, there was a car boot sale open in the same area with big, bold signs for parking, which resulted in me going into the wrong car park.
Chris N — Google review
Great zoo. Lots to see and the staff seem very interested and knowledgeable in what they do. You can pay extra for "experiences" . We got to feed the giraffe's and also gave the red river hogs some enrichment play. There are toilets and a place to eat. There is also a small outside play park. Seemed plenty of places to park .

The park is lovely. Size is good for little legs, forest walk is beautiful and the price with the half term offer was super reasonable!!! BUT I took one star off because we hated the food. We ate in the main restaurant and the food was just disgusting. It's all greasy stuff. Not a fresh veg in sight but even as a treat it was too greasy to be finished! If we had to do it again we would take our own packed lunch! Staff is lovely though and it's a nice day out!
Audrey D — Google review
Amazing trip, toilets clean, staff friendly, accessible for all, and the pulled pork loaded tater tots are a must try. The animals are obviously well cared for, with their keepers extremely knowledgeable. Will definitely visit again.
Chantelle G — Google review
Really cool place for a family day out. Lots of animals to catch a glimpse of, mini golf, safari train ride, playground, cafes. Also, the price to enter is acceptable for what's on offer. Highly recommend to visit.

Specialty Museums
The East Anglia Transport Museum, situated in Carlton Colville near Lowestoft, Suffolk, is a one-of-a-kind open-air museum that offers visitors the opportunity to view and even ride on historic modes of street transportation from the past century. The museum features trams, trolleys, buses and other vehicles from different eras. It's an excellent destination for families seeking both educational and entertaining experiences.
The East Anglia transport museum gives a real step back in time with trams, trolley buses and period buildings with old cars and faux shops with products from past like Steam rollers, electric milk floats and some commercial vehicles. You can ride on their trams, two are in service daily and the vehicles are rotated every day. A trolley bus is in service and small train to go on. All the staff volunteers very helpful with knowledge of the place. They have two small cafes both reasonable price and toilets are clean and tidy. Well worth a visit 10/10

A lovely little place, full of charm and charisma. There were 2 trolley buses and 1 team to ride today, a first for me. There aren't too many exhibits, but what is there is accessible and oozes charm. The volunteers are a delight, and make the whole place feel very charismatic. An absolutely lovely step back to a more gentle time in history. Well worth a visit.
Peter S — Google review
We spent a wonderful day at the East Anglia Transport Museum. The collection is large and very well presented, and the whole site is designed so thoughtfully that it really feels like stepping back in time. Old shops, a post office, and other period buildings create a unique atmosphere of the past. The highlight for us was being able to ride the historic vehicles - a train, tram, trolleybus, and bus - it brought the whole experience to life and made it unforgettable for the children. You can easily spend a whole day here as a family, there is so much to see and do. It’s also clear the museum is developing and growing, with more locations opening soon, which makes us want to come back again. A truly remarkable place that combines history, education and fun. Highly recommended!

We had seen amazing photos on Facebook, so we decided to visit - just over 2hrs travel time from Southend-on-Sea.... we visit Crich Tramway Museum in Derbyshire so came to compare and revisit some nostalgic memories. We were not disappointed. The layout is compact, but the volume of rides, waiting time, and Museum exhibits means that there is a lot to see. We also had a ride into Lowestoft on the RT. Well worth the entry fee, go visit.
Roger N — Google review
We arrived before 11am and purchased ticket without hassle. It offered a year to revisit as if you are paying for gift aid. Kids below 5yrs old is free and we got on every transport for free. There also a stamp collection for kid to exchange a lollipop in the cafe. We tried electric bus and open roof bus, train and everything was amazing. We also had tea in the Cafe. For the price for those foods are amazingly good and friendly workers. We will revisit for sure. Thanks.

We went along to the transport museum for a special event. We also had the luxury of being driven to the museum in a 1965 coach, which was a treat and great fun. . There was an open air concert. The band were very good All the buses, trams and railway were fun to go around on. The shop displays and car displays are very well done. It was a fun day.

Great morning seeing all the old vehicles and buses, not an all day thing. Took us about 2hrs to get round. The volunteers do a great job.

Nestled in the heart of a charming Georgian high street, The Crown is a delightful inn that has long been a favorite among daytrippers from London. Known for its exceptional Adnams beer, this seaside hotel restaurant has seen its ups and downs over the years but appears to be on an upward trend again. After two decades since my last visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and stylish decor that welcomed me upon arrival.
Finally came here for a drink on a Sunday after driving past loads and constantly saying “We should go there one day”. Last time I visited was 20 years ago (wow I feel old). So wasn’t sure what to expect now. It’s a lot different to what I remember! So cosy instead, great decor, loads of drinks to choose from. The barman was very patient with me and my fussiness on how much lime I like in my lager and lime (and he made it perfectly!). Was lovely to sit outside, loads of seats and different options. Nice to have sofas out there and the birds are a really special touch! Parking is great round the back! Loads of spaces. Will visit again for sure.

It's an OK place if you just want a quick pint. Went on a bank holiday and only 3 people there. As much atmosphere as Mars. Staff was lovely but then again she only had four of us to look after. A big pub with a large empty area inside. Don't know how it survives; must be supported by a brewery or a philanthropist.

I called in on a lunchtime to get some food whilst I was on my way somewhere. Only the smaller bar food menu is available at Lunchtimes. This consists of typical British pub food. I went for the sausage and chips. It was excellent. Very much like you'd have at home. Exactly what I want from a pub, basic but really nice food. Service was excellent too. I was surprised to find it was close to deserted though, this is a great pub which deserves your support.

Not much of a drinker personally. Met up with my family to watch football, felt very welcomed by the happy staff. Beer was good, Happy to let grandchildren play on park as its away from the road and carpark. Didn't eat but food looked good. Tried to find menu online before I went but couldn't access one. Maybe it's only on social media which I don't do, Shame that.

★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ Really lovely family meal for my Birthday, the food was so yummy and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is clean, as are the toilets (always a plus for me!) and the outside seating area is really lovely. The prices are very reasonable and the menu has a good selection of food plus there is a specials board if you do fancy something a little different. The bar staff and waitresses were lovely, they clearly wanted to make sure we had a nice time and enjoyed the food but they weren’t overbearing at all (there’s nothing worse than being asked every 5 minutes if “everything is ok”) and we could tell that they genuinely cared if ‘everything was OK’ because they waited and listened to our replies (I’ve had many waitresses not even wait for a reply before walking g off in other pubs/restaurants!). Thank you for a lovely lunch, we are all looking forward to returning again soon ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★

Fish and chips takeaway
The Village Fryer in Kessingland is a local gem offering delicious gluten-free options. The owners are friendly and accommodating, ensuring that the food is cooked separately to avoid cross-contamination. Customers rave about the generous portions and the crispy, non-greasy batter on the fish. The service is prompt and welcoming, making it a convenient go-to spot for locals. With its proximity to the beach, it's an ideal place to satisfy your craving for delectable fish and chips.
Really nice fish and chips, generous portion sizes. We had 2 large haddock, 1 large chips, mushy peas, a battered sausage and a savaloy between two of us, and there was plenty! They even had buttered rolls, a must for a chip butty! Prompt service, really friendly staff. Not tried the other chippy in town yet, next time! ☺️

We ordered from here whilst staying at the Parkdean for the weekend. We can a mixture of chips, saveloy, sausages, cod, haddock and curry sauce. Portions sizes were huge. The fish in particular were huge. The only issue I faced was the Haddock was pretty tasteless however everyone else enjoyed their food.
Heidi B — Google review
So we found it difficult to find somewhere open for food on a Monday in Kessingland. After finding two closed fish & chip shops we discovered 'The Village Fryer' Our first impression, the chip shop appeared clean and we really liked the fact; they take your order on the far left and serve and take payment on the far right.. great for maintaining social distancing. The staff were very pleasant. The food was reasonably priced, small chips £2, medium chips £2.20 and large chips £2.60. (Picture uploaded of current prices and options) So far so good.. So why only 3 Stars?? Well the food itself was not great, the chips were very average, the sausage ok but the breadcrumb fish cake had been overcooked, verging on cremated, making it dry, tasteless and unpleasant. All of the food had a strange 'twang' aftertaste, not sure whether this was the cooking oil or vinegar. This was certainly not for us and we would not return.
Star N — Google review
I recently visited this fish and chip shop and the service was very good. The fish itself was flaky and tender, cooked to perfection with a crispy batter. The chips were lovely too. If you're craving delicious fish and chips, this is definitely the place to go, and only a short walk away from the beach!

Ooo some classy dining in lowey but at a good price! Wanted something for lunch that wasn’t a roast (being a Sunday most places are roasts). Decided to try iconic and was not disappointed. We parked In the nearest car park which was about a minute walk. We were greeted with a warm welcome and attentive server and shown to our seats. We went for the grill as there was an offer of a free soft drink with every meal, (alcohol was an additional £1.50) and I went for the steak. The atmosphere is classy and vibrant and you feel like you’re in a high end establishment but you can just enjoy the classic food and drink which is a nice medium. The food as you can see is generous portions and the steak was cooked nearer well done over medium (steak is hard to master so will let them off!), chips appeared hand cut which I liked. The onion rings were sadly very greasy and I avoided a lot of the batter because of this, the salad also had an orange slice and bit of watermelon which I’m still not sure if works when you have a pile of carbs next to it, I didn’t eat these. My other half had the 3 steps to heaven and he said was nice but the sauce was a little too sweet. It’s definitely worth a visit, great for date night, friends and family alike or even alone. One thing I did like was the staff were well presented with matching uniforms and professional, they were very attentive to all customers and helped an elderly man with a walker get in an out of the building as it does have steps at the front (no step free access) which says a lot about their appreciation of customers. They said thank you for coming when we left and felt wanted and appreciated. You could lose many hours here just relaxing. ☺️

This pier is just front end adjoining a very nice promenade with cafés and pubs etc. The town is a little run down looking but most of your normal shops are there.

A very small pier but there are plenty of slot machines to keep the children entertained. I've given an extra * because all the staff really spoil the young children (prizes etc)
Peter P — Google review
There is a pleasant bar on the pier serving good food, and the staff are friendly. The amusement arcade is worth a visit too. Unfortunately, the pier itself is inaccessible due to years if dereliction, and parts of it are in something of a ruinous condition. I like to think if the businesses at the shore end thrive the owners will get the rest of the pier restored and reopened.

I absolutely love this venue, Still a recent take over the new owner have done nothing but move forward and improve the venue, Being able to walk out onto the pier is beautiful and so nice after many years of being closed. There was a night club there which I had the chance to visit but I've since learnt its closed that's not an issue though there is a couple of bars here to still enjoy a pint and some music. The arcade is clean and incredibly interactive and up to date. I definitely recommend a visit

The Seagull is a charming community theater located in Pakefield, offering a cozy atmosphere for local, regional, and national performing arts companies. Housed in a renovated former school turned arts center, the intimate venue with around 100 seats provides an enjoyable experience for visitors. The volunteer staff is friendly and accommodating, while the small bar offers reasonably priced refreshments.
Lovely intimate theatre, seating only around 100 which makes for a fantastic atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. Well stocked bar and a busy schedule of various shows & live music. A gem of a venue off the beaten track a walk down the southern end of town, & well worth the effort if your ever in Lowestoft.

Venue was just lovely, intimate space ( approx 144 seats) close proximity to stage, plenty of legroom and air con........staff all very pleasant and welcoming.......plenty of close parking. Lovely little Theatre, have seen many good events here. This time we saw a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac called Songbird. Sold out event and EXCELLENT is the only thing I need to say. If you get a chance go and see them.

Oh my goodness what a lovely old little theatre now local to me. We only recently moved to the area and had passed this theatre when visiting but when we picked up a flyer for an event in a local shop we decided to go. We had a fantastic evening, buying a drink (not overpriced) before the event and we enjoyed our evening so much we booked a few for during the year when we got home.

Smashing venue for small gigs. Good acoustics, friendly and organised staff, with an onsite bar.

Lovely intimate theatre. Seating tiered, staggered, and comfortable. Acoustics superb. Toilets beautifully kept. And the show was superb.
Margaret D — Google review
Nice little theatre, although a tad cosey. The stage was a bit low,so the view of performers feet was limited. Bar staff were friendly and efficient, payment was easy.

East Coast Cinema, located on London Road South, offers a nostalgic movie experience with its old-fashioned setting and four screens showcasing the latest Hollywood releases. The cinema is situated near popular attractions such as Claremont Pier, South Pier Family Entertainment Centre, Richardson's Family Entertainment Centre, Waterlane Leisure Centre, and Merkur bingo hall. Visitors can enjoy a local atmosphere and reasonable prices while indulging in popcorn, sweets, and soft drinks at the lobby.
Our favourite Cinema. Some of the theatres are tiny but this genuinely adds to the charm. It doesn't detract from the viewing experience either, with lovely clear screens and fantastic audio. Great value too, usually around £6 a viewing. This place deserves all the support it can get.

Really lovely independent cinema. There’s parking quite close by which is a little expensive but nothing crazy. The cinema has very reasonable tickets and incredibly reasonable food and drink prices. The staff are friendly and the actual seats and cinema is amazing quality. I really recommend this!

This is such a wonderful, quirky little cinema, built around the 1920's I believe, which my husband and I have passed many a time on our holiday breaks, but now as we actually live nearby we decided to go here to see a film. Well we were in screen 4, which is all I believe this cinema has (4 screens), it had 28 seats and we were the only two in there. You can order tickets on line, they are reasonably priced and husband whose a tad over 60 got in cheaper, you then type in the sent code into a machine in the foyer to retrieve tickets. Seating is where you want to sit, not allocated and they also serve hot and cold drinks and snacks, reasonably priced in the foyer too. Will definately be coming here again, use it or lose it.

Wonderful cinema! Always go here to see films on there release dates. Very good experience today. Stuck in Latitude traffic and staff member kindly allowed us to move our ticket from 2:30pm to 5pm. Phenomenal service ⭐️

To my family and I this is what going to the cinema is all about . A fantastic selection of films, outstanding customer service and value for money. A cosy cinema with just the right feel to it , this has everything the larger cinemas can never regain , with charm and that personal touch. Polite, considerate and professional staff. Having just enjoyed the Avatar 3D experience we look forward to our next family cinema outing soon .

My partner and I came to the cinema in the very early afternoon to see a film, and there was a minor mishap with the screen not having the film we were there to watch. The manager was the one my partner ended up speaking to, and he was very effective in how he addressed the situation. The manager got us into a different screen which had that film in its database and skipped the adverts for us so we could see the film quickly as we had been waiting for twenty minutes before my partner suggested enquiring as to why the film hadn't started as yet. The manager was so kind and very communicative all throughout the process and checked up on the screen to make sure the film was playing once all was said and done. He later thanked us for our patience, which was incredibly kind of him as we didn't feel anyone was at fault for the situation. Such a lovely timeless and always immaculately tidy place which I've been visiting since I was a child multiple times a day, and the manager is just incredible.

A brilliant little cinema with a real 90’s feel to it. Amazing prices for both the film itself and confectionary. We hope to see you the next time we visit the area.

Waterlane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft offers a variety of activities for visitors. Couples can enjoy a relaxing retreat at Rosie's Day Spa or opt for a day pass to unwind together. The center features amenities such as badminton courts, swimming pool, spa facilities, virtual spinning classes, squash courts with equipment available on-site, gym for workouts, cycling, rock climbing and a soft play area for kids. Visitors appreciate the easy accessibility and ample parking as well as the clean and bright environment.
This is a nice centre to visit. A lot of different activities available; I only visit to play squash though. There are 4 squash courts from what I could see. Rackets and balls are available on sight. There's also swimming, a gym for workouts, cycling, rock climbing and a soft play area for kids. I travel from Great Yarmouth which only takes 18-19 minutes drive. No need for a membership in order to use the facilities. I would definitely recommend.
Ramon M — Google review
Wanted to join to go early morning swimming and decided it was more beneficial to get a membership rather than pay as you go. The changing rooms are not the cleanest. Discarded chewing gum on the floor and generally needs a good sweep and a mop out. Lots of locker keys are missing the wristband and lots are permanently locked. The pool itself is ok. A fair few leave water bottles, bags, locker keys etc on the side of the pool, especially around the steps. I went for the slow lane swim and on day one the comments from obvious regulars about newbies booking slots which meant less for them and their friends! Surely it’s first come first served! The majority swim one after the other which is great at a nice pace but there’s always those who are overtaking, cutting in to speak with their friends and those that are damn right rude. I did book the Public Swimming in the teaching pool for a 6am start. Great little pool but again, regulars take priority and you know about it. I’ve done a week and to be brutally honest, can’t take any more of feeling like you’re not welcome.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Got all the training for the gym from James, who was happy, friendly, informative and caring regarding our health problems. The centre was superbly clean and hygienic everywhere we went. There was adequate facilities for the disabled and excellent parking area. Lastly, their security was excellent. I recommend this facility to everyone from beginners to professionals.

I would like to recommend Sheryl as a personal trainer. She is very good at her job, patient, and always supportive. She understands her clients’ needs and helps them stay motivated to reach their fitness goals. I’ve really enjoyed training with her and appreciate her positive attitude and encouragement.

Some instructors are great, others not so good. Too many kids to a group. In a 30 minutes session, each kids has no more than 5 mins of swimming. This review is probably specific to the group my child is in, but even still. I wouldn't recommend.

Short staffed on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm, tried to purchase a swimming costume for my 5 year old so we could go swimming but they refused as no one able to use the till, No signs anywhere and had to wait 15mins at reception to be told this. Very disappointing, never had this problem anywhere else.

Guests rave about the expertly cooked fish and chips, complemented by friendly service that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're enjoying a casual meal or engaging in fun activities like shuffleboard, The Harbour provides an enjoyable escape from the everyday hustle.
Nice bar and restaurant. I was staying locally and just fancied fresh fish and chips and this place popped up on a Google search. We weren't disappointed, the staff were friendly and efficient, the service was great and the food really, really tasty. The fish was beautifully cooked and I don't know how they cooked the chips but they were amazing. (I wish I'd taken another photo of the fish and chips, my picture does not do it justice). Also the door says it's heavy, and it is, it made me laugh for some reason!

After just arriving in Lowestoft we walked past a few pubs that didn’t excite us enough to go in until we reached The Harbour. It looks good from the outside and is clean and well kept inside. All staff were cheerful and friendly, greeting us when we walked in and telling us it was table service for food. I opted for the pie of the day and Mrs D chose the fish and chips, each costing just £13, which is excellent value for money. The pie was packed full and the pastry was beautifully crisp and flaky. The fish was nice and thick with crisp batter and accompanied by a large pile of chips. A great find which I totally recommend.

Me and my partner went for a late valentines meal and we got seated immediately. The staff were lovely and our food came our right away (if you get loaded fries share because they are massive). I think it was definitely worth the price and staff were so attentive and did many checkbacks. It was a lovely date and we both really enjoyed ourselves.

Great place. We were greeted warmly by the staff, food was good - we had chicken on a bucket which almost defeated us the portion was so generous! Would recommend wholeheartedly if you're in the area. We were only staying one night in Lowestoft and pleased that we picked the Harbour for our evening meal. Thank you!

Was a bit unsure of where to have lunch, opted for the Harbour Inn. It looks very different than you expect from looking at it from the outside... actually quite liked the inside! We were greeted when we went in and quickly found a table, menus have a little bit of variety, and they also have some specials. Kids menu was also available which was good news, and we was told that we could swap some bits if we needed for the kids! Food was nice and lots of different options for drinks. We all enjoyed our food and we were too full for desert! Staff were all friendly, and the place seemed clean. If you get a spot near the window you may also get to watch the bridge go up which is a bit of a novelty! (Both for me and the kids!)

First time we’ve been in here. We received a warm welcome upon entering and the fantastic service and hospitality continued throughout. The food was extremely tasty (halloumi burger, falafel burger, and two lots of hand-cut fries) and the portions sizes were very generous. The decor was great and everywhere looked very clean and well-looked-after. We noticed they have a shuffleboard, which is very rare in the UK. We will definitely return soon for some food and a game or two.

By far the best Chinese in town and good value. Very fast delivery *Update Used to be the best but what I had from there this evening was very average. The ribs had very little meat and the sauce was tasteless. Spring rolls were soggy. Chips were dry. Soup was tasteless. Sweet and sour sauce was watered down. The remaining dishes were ok. It's such a shame as this place was our go to.

Restaurant
The New Raj Mahal restaurant offers a delightful ambiance with a warm and welcoming staff who provide attentive service. The cuisine is exceptional, delivering excellent value for money. With a diverse menu offering various dishes such as the mixed grill, rogan josh, chicken tikka masala, and vegetarian curry, there is something to please everyone's taste buds. The extensive meal comprised four mains accompanied by rice, naan breads, poppadoms, sides, and drinks for only £90.
I have just had the most wonderful meal for one of balti chicken with a tandoori chicken starter. Also included was a poppadom, small salad, side dish, and a canned drink. I added mint sauce and plain naan to my meal and have enjoyed an absolute feast with such generous portions there is plenty left for tomorrow. Thank you so much for such beautiful food . See you again. 🙏

Not very nice food, very bland,.. Heat, no spice?!.. The onion Bahjis were raw.. the egg rice smelt like washing liquid & had hard bits in the rice.. Flat bottled, warm cola. All through the meal we was the only couple in the restaurant throughout the whole experience the waiter just kept walking past us back & fourth... I finished my meal first & he swept my plate while my friend was still eating which I found rude. Lacks flavour, customers & experience hospitality experience.

Just ordered a takeaway from this place and I can honestly say it was the worst experience I have ever had curry was bland tasteless and was ment to be a prawn curry well I've seen more prawns in a prawn cocktail. The garlic nan was also the worst absolutely tasteless. £50 down the drain or more like in the bin

English restaurant
Located in Pakefield, Lowestoft's southernmost point, The Jolly Sailors offers stunning coastal views and has recently undergone a makeover by new owners Moss & Co. The pub and restaurant provide a gleaming gastropub experience with indoor and outdoor seating that overlooks Pakefield beach. Visitors can enjoy generous portions of delicious food made from fresh ingredients while taking in the picturesque sea view. Additionally, the establishment is known for its friendly service and dog-friendly bar area.
Visiting the area and after a walk by the beach we thought we would stop by The Jolly Sailor. It was lunchtime and we was surprised by the relaxed atmosphere, the bar allowed and dogs and lovely fab views across the sea. We ended up staying for lunch, both fish and chips and scampi were lovely, hot and delicious. 100% worth a visit, Thankyou.

Working nearby and I have visited on every trip since discovering it. A nice walk from my hotel along the sea front then a great view from the pub. The food was the best I’ve had, this time I went for the whole place in shrimp sauce with potatoes and beans, £23 but worth every penny. The fish was perfectly cooked and quite thick so my hesitation about not satisfying my appetite was not needed. The beer was problematic pumping and although acceptable I questioned it 🤔 and was asked if ok but did not want to be fussy as just a bit on the flat side but was real ale. After the meal the nice lady said she had changed the barrel and would I like a half on the house which I accepted ,very good service in going that bit further to look after customers .👍

Genuinely the best battered cod I've had in a long time, which alongside 2 other dishes all came out really quickly. Nice pub with excellent sea views, very friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

Popped in for something to eat, saw they had Abbots Ale on tap so had that with the fish and chips. The food was good, let down a little by the chips. The beer was very disappointing as it was cloudy and had floaters in it. The bar staff apologised and said someone had just moved the barrel a little too hard, and they refunded me the cost of the pint. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Excellent food, good selection of real ales from multiple breweries. Nice atmosphere too. Really good table service, yet remaining the relaxed pub vibe. Amazing views over the coast also
