Theme park
Water & Amusement Parks
Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park, situated near Lowestoft town, offers a wide range of thrilling rides and attractions for visitors of all ages. From adrenaline-pumping thrill rides like Wipeout and Fireball to family-friendly options such as Tales of the Coast and Snake in the Grass, there's something for everyone. The park also features a kiddie zone and entertaining animal shows like the popular Sea Lion Show.
Great place! Yes it’s a bit run down in places but it’s great value for money and I’m sure updating it further would drive the prices up. No queues, lots to do, there’s some great rides and we went with children ages 4 through to 12 years old and they all had a great day. Even us adults had fun! Sea lion show and circus were great, It’s so nostalgic having gone every year as a child. Love seeing a lot of the rides from then are still here. Fun day out

Awesome park for the price.. Every member of staff was lovely. I ve been to so many amusement parks and I felt staff here - really kept it alive and going. Yes some rides are old and slow but they also have some amazing new ones.. There is something for everyone no mater how tall or small. Did bumper cars after a long time.. Spinning teacups.. A big shout out to the animal handler for the sea lions as well as birds of paradise. She was very passionate and kind . Just those two shows make up for the price of the ticket I think.. the animals and birds are in great shape and it shows how much they are loved. And we all loved it too.. Best ride : Shiver me timbers! Went twice on a number of the rides Parking :3£ for the whole day paid via Ringo app or the reception.

A great day out, I haven't been since I was a child so to take my kids was quite special! Only downside was the log floom was closed early on in the day for maintenance and never reopened. The park itself is great, but it looks quite tired and would benefit from some updates! I remember as a child a lovely boat ride with a story, sadly those little mellow rides for small kids don't exist. So if you plan on taking your kids, I'd aim it for 9+ so they can ride everything. As it's quite limited for smaller, young children.
Kate P — Google review
We’ve been coming to Pleasurewood Hills for the past few years, and the kids always have a great time – they aren’t too bothered about the appearance. The prices are reasonable too. That said, the whole park is really in need of some TLC. The train ride was disappointing, with nothing much to see other than broken fences and “behind the scenes” areas. A lot of the rides feel quite old now, and the excitement is starting to fade. The castle, in particular, has so much potential but looks tired and run down. It feels like each year the park is getting a little worse, rather than better. The staff don’t seem especially happy, though to their credit they are still very enthusiastic and welcoming when running the rides. I really hope the park gets the love and attention it deserves – it could be amazing again with some investment and care..
Samantha L — Google review
Great theme park. Some nice rollercoasters, but plenty for younger kids. There was a birds of paradise show and a sea lion and seal display. Food was pretty good and plenty of toilets dotted around. Plenty of parking too.
Greg R — Google review
If it wasn't for the fact that I paid to get in, I could have been an urban explorer looking around an abandoned theme park. Sorry (not sorry) this place is now an absolute disgrace - fallen from a lovely local attraction to a theme park that has been allowed to fall apart. So sad to see; lots of investment 11 years ago when we first visited but neglected since due to false promises, it seems, by 'Looping Group', the French company that bought the park some years ago. This company seem to be wringing the last possible finance from the park before it is closed. Some of the rides today were closed 'for maintenence' (which is a concern in its own right), staff were lovely, but it's pretty clear they are fed up. Plus points: 1. The park was open. 2. The staff were friendly. Negative points: 1. The park was open. Please (pretty please, with a cherry on top) someone tell Laurent Bruloy (owner of Looping Group) that his takeover of this theme park and subsequent management is the worst thing that could have happened in its history. Urbex (joke) pictures attached; these were taken today (1st August 2025 - peak season) while the park should have been in full swing.. zoom in to see the filthy condition of pretty much everything. To the person at Pleasurewood Hills whose job it is to respond to reviews; don't bother (I've read the copy/paste 'sad' to receive 1/5 etc..) forward this review to senior management before it is, truly, too late for you all.

We visited Pleasurewood Hills during half term (Halloween week) with my wife and children, and while the rides were exactly as others have said — a bit dated and uninspiring — the animal shows completely blew us away! The Sealion Show – Absolutely Incredible! We started the day at the Sealion show and honestly, I didn’t expect to be that impressed — but wow, I was speechless! These Sealions were jumping to hit targets, balancing balls, and interacting so cleverly with the trainers. The energy was electric! The trainers’ passion and bond with the animals really shone through — you can tell they love what they do and deeply care about these amazing creatures. It was the perfect start to our day! The Bird Show – Unexpectedly Brilliant! Next, my youngest wanted to see the bird show, and though I’m not usually a bird fan, I was completely won over. The presenters (the same team as the Sealions) were bursting with enthusiasm and knowledge. When one of them brought the owl around the audience so we could see it up close, my daughter’s face lit up — that moment made her entire day. We’ve seen bird shows across the UK, but none come close to this level of connection and care. Just fantastic! Creepy Cave – Hidden Gem of the Park! Later, we stumbled upon the Creepy Cave, and again I was amazed. We were greeted by Jack, who was so warm, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. His knowledge of the reptiles and insects was brilliant. From the frogs to the chance to hold a millipede, it was such an unexpected highlight! I was disappointed to hear it’s only open for Halloween week — it deserves to be a permanent attraction. Final Thoughts Forget the rides — the real magic at Pleasurewood Hills lies with the animals and the people who care for them. The Sealion trainers, the bird presenters, and Jack in the Creepy Cave all made our day truly special. If I could personally thank them, I absolutely would. This park should focus on what it does best — the animal experiences and shows — because they are outstanding!
Paul G — Google review
We went yesterday to this place and we loved it.No waiting time to go on the rides which was amazing was able to go on all the rides over and over again. Would recommend everyone to visit this. Great value of money and lots of toilets and lots of places to have a picnic with friends and family.

Laurence, Luke and Daisy were fantastic when my mum came to trade in her phone. They worked with us to make sure she was leaving with the best deal getting out of her contract with EE, they were very patient and explained to her all the options. We were in the store for over an hour and everyone was very nice! Definitely recommend.

Came here with a broken phone and absolutely zero knowledge on what to do next. The lady who helped me was so kind, she helped me pick out something new and explained everything I needed to know in great detail. The customer service I experienced was very reassuring and helpful, I'm very glad I came here!

Nice shop, good stock but unfortunately they didn't have the cooker i wanted in stock so ordered from their website. Small delivery charge and took old one away for 25 quid. No complaints and delivery drivers were very helpful and respectful of property and product

Went in to price up speakers. Very good service. They are very helpful and have the best electric shop in Suffolk. The parking made it an easy task. All wheel chair friendly. I ended up spending a £1000 on new equipment and saved £300 . Very good for hp as well as great services. All layed out well. Can't nock there prices as they have a promotion on at the moment. Where they will match any price anywhere. Price Promise. Great time to bye. Don't forget the bye know pay later deals on some products. Not bad interest rate.

Went into browse for ereaders, more curious than wanting to buy. 4 members of staff asked if I needed any help and was I looking to buy within 2 minutes of walking in. Including one who appeared to deliberately stand in my way forcing an answer and making me feel pressured. Walked out and won't be returning.

Friendly, attentive and knowledgable staff. Explained everything, including bolt-ons, product support and pointers on getting set up. Made my tech purchasing experience as quick and easy as possible. Would definitely recommend.

Refused to take a hoover back less than 24 hrs after purchase saying wasn't faulty. Spent 300 on it and its terrible. I filed a complaint and currys never returned with a call like they said they would within 24 hrs. I've now purchased a shark vacuum and its picked up half a tray full of dirt after I used currys crap 300 pound vacuum! Customer service and complaints tram are crap so now have a 300 quid ornaments sitting in the corner!

Pet owners will appreciate the presence of Pets at Home for their furry companions' needs. The retail park offers well-maintained facilities and a relatively quiet shopping environment.
Great retail park, and very busy. Bit short on disabled slots near shops but there are some on opposite side of car park where we generally manage to get a space. Apart from this relatively minor problem the wife and I love the place. Great assortment of shops and a Costa coffee, Burger King, and Subway to get food as well as Morrisons restaurant.

Located in Lowestoft, the Marina Theatre is a historic venue dating back to the 1870s. It offers a diverse range of entertainment including theatre, dance, musical performances, film screenings, live music, and stand-up comedy. The 800-capacity theatre also features a cafe bar and shop. Additionally, it hosts family-friendly events throughout the year and is known for its popular Panto during the festive season.
Me and my wife regularly come to the theatre to watch a variety of shows and we enjoy every time the atmosphere is electric and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have an easy access disabled toilet right next to the actual room If you’re visiting Lowstoft I highly recommend you visit the marina.
Orien D — Google review
The show was good. Only issue is the seating are designed for people that are small. Totally No leg room, and squashed up to the next person. I'm not large person but still not good space. They really need to redo and replace seats . Price wise, was a little of price. Could of seen same show £4 less at Yarmouth. Over it was the show I wanted to see. Just a shame let down by the theatre 🎥

Me and my friend sent to their glam rock show. It was fantastic. Lovely helpful staff and great atmosphere. Definitely like to revisit again soon Thank you everyone involved 😁

Watched Milton Jones and he wasn't disappointing. The theatre itself was quite quaint and appeared in good upkeep. If your there early and your sat near the doors on a cold evening it can get very chilli. £1.60 for a single can of drink I consider a bit on the steep side but the service and staff helped make it a great evening

Really excellent small theatre. Very friendly and showing a wide range of performances. The last two evenings we have seen great entertainment at the Marina which is now to close through summer 2025 for a large scale refurbishment, installation of a lift and new seating throughout. We look forward to it reopening in the autumn.

Ness Point

4.0
(1094)
Lowestoft Ness Point is the easternmost point in the United Kingdom, marked by a ground marker displaying distances to various places around the world. It offers a unique experience of being the first place to see the sun rise on summer solstice day. Despite its proximity to an industrial estate, it boasts a lovely atmosphere with about 60 people gathering to witness the sunrise. The area features a compass showing the easterly point and distances to different capitals as well as Sealand.
Most easterly point of Mainland Britain. Cool feature of distances to many western cities and countries on the circular dial install. Its a visit to say that you've been.
Jermaine N — Google review
Little landmark marking the most eastern point of the UK. Take some pictures and read all the blurb and then you can say you've done it. Some of the tiles seem to be missing, so it might be in need of a little maintenance. Advise taking the scenic route along the coast rather than through the industrial estate (even if the wind turbine is interesting to walk around).
Tom D — Google review
If you are interested in being at the most easterly point in England then this is the place to be! Tucked away behind the birds eye factory on an industrial estate, looks like at some point it was made quite fancy but now a bit run down.
Hamish C — Google review
It's disappointing due to vandalism Parts of the display were missing. Its a shame that a bit more of Ness Point has not been provided to make the public more aware of it's significance.
Willem H — Google review
I liked the slightly isolated feel of Ness Point. The park area nearby has been beautifully designed. The industrial area gave it real atmosphere and the dial with the equinoxes and distance to various places was interesting.
Sarah A — Google review
Not really an attraction, but it's the most easterly point if the UK and it's got a big circle telling you distances to different counties. Go there more to say you've been the the eastern point.
Scot W — Google review
Great promenade to walk along the beach in Lowestofte! This beach is one of the most accessible I have seen along East Coast, with multi tear beach hut options, multi car parks, wheelchair/mobile aid path up along the beach, smooth wide path miles along the ocean. Secret gem - will be back!
Jess H — Google review
Strangely at the back of an industrial estate and behind the Birds Eye factory but least it's easy to find. The area has a cobbled street effect so you know it's different to the industrial estate. The plaque had a piece missing around the edge when I was there. Still able to see other areas and distances. Worth a visit but if looking for other things to do....there is not a lot apart from looking out to sea or at factories behind you.... enough info to say you have been there and what the area is...so tick another part of the world completed

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a well-known fast food chain serving burgers, fries and shakes. The burgers are delicious and come lovely and hot. The restaurant is perfect for a quick meal.
Popped in here after a day out as my wife is more a Mcdonalds fan and i wanted to try the new Wagyu burger so we ended up here :). The food was really nice was impressed by the new burger but not sure its worth the price difference. Staff where friendly it took a little bit of time to come out but they where busy and i always find there food is cooked and tastes better than MacDonald's.
Sir W — Google review
I always enjoy Burger King, although just lately the food has not been served hot. Several times we have received our food and the burgers have been lukewarm. Its unfortunate as they had always been hot and lovely. Its like the place has lost pride in themselves. I've been going to this burger king since they opened, so I know how good it used to be. It seems that the staff are more worried about drive through customers rather than the customers standing in the restaurant. It's a shame as what was once a good thing seems to have been again taken over by drive through.
Élan L — Google review
Popped in on my lunch break for something small to eat - on a budget because I'm starting uni soon. Luckily for me, I was served by Katie, who coincidentally is planning on going to the same uni as me! She was lovely, we had a nice chat and she helped me order something budget-friendly. The wait time wasn't too bad and the food itself was great. Will definitely be making this my usual Burger King!

I came to visit my friend recently, and he took me down to Burger King for a meal just for a catch up and everything was spectacular. The staff were respectful and well spoken, they were asking me if everything were up to scratch and it were, so there were no issues at all. The meal was tasty and the drinks were nice and cool with the option of ice instead of it being force on you.
STEVEN S — Google review
I'm not a regular takeaway customer. But I felt I needed to give credit where deserved. On arrival I was greeted in a friendly but professional manner. The staff were efficient and helpful throughout. It's so nice to feel welcomed. The main thing is that the chicken burger I had was delicious. I won't hesitate to dine there again. Well done management and staff. Keep up the high standards. Cc

Popped in today with my little boy, clean and the food was great. A lovely staff member named Leah was quick to serve me. extremely friendly and with a big smile, will definitely be visiting again.

Would rate 0 if I could. What a joke of an establishment. Constant problems every single time I go here busy or not, have to wait 20-25 minutes for a simple order. Orders wrong, chips missing. BK seriously needs to start cracking the whip on this one, because I can’t imagine they’re making much money off it. Whenever I go to the ones in Ipswich, always fast and efficient!!
Leon D — Google review
After a long drive with my family (of 4) I was looking forward to a mean which I had previously at burger king. At this occasion the service was sadly lacking and the food was the most disappointing. Not only was the staff uninviting and rude the cokes (4) was warm and flat with no ice. The whopper looked like road kill and the chips were warm no were near hot. The three cheeseburgers were warm and not very tasty. I was most disappointing as we have had nice meals at burger king and this is the reason we went after a long drive. I most certainly will not recommend this to any holiday makers due to recent experience. I will think twice before I walk into burger king again. PS: I have been to numerous burger kings including the one at filey haven park which I found the service impeccable and the food very delicious.

Fried chicken takeaway
Mediterranean Kebab House has received mixed reviews lately, with some customers expressing disappointment in the quality of their recent orders. However, others have had a great experience, praising the generous portions and delicious food. One customer particularly enjoyed the doner kebab, highlighting the generous serving size and flavorful meat. Despite some concerns about temperature upon delivery, many patrons appreciate the tasty kebab meat and chips with garlic sauce as well as the friendly staff.
Hands down the best doner kebab I've had in a very long time, meat was amazing and huge serving to, not to sure about the tarmamind style Sauce, but it something different, I'm only going to be buying my doners frim from there from now on, truly delicious.

I don't know if it's been taken over, but the lack of patience over the phone is by far the worse I've ever experienced. You give your order and straight away he wants to put the phone down, even when you make a point of trying to explain as to what you would like on your Kebab and drink, he's to busy rushing to get rid of you. I had to return an order of chicken and chips, as the chicken was rank and someone or something had already had a good munch on the drumstick. I haven't a clue as to what is going on there now, but it certainly will not last long the way they are going.

order never turned up after saying it was delivered on food hub, called the takeaway and they said it was too busy and only one driver. currently 2am with no takeaway in sight and food hub not willing to do a refund.

Ordered on Tuesday night and did not get delivered. Said they phoned to say they were outside but I got no phone call. I asked did they knock and the reply I got was no because it was late. I asked for a refund because it didn't turn up and they said no because it was my fault it didn't get delivered. Will definitely not be ordering from here again. If your going to deliver something bloody knock on the door. The reciever is expecting you to knock not stand outside and then leave.

I would not even give this a star. I order food at 17:50 and it arrived at 19:20. When my order arrived it was the wrong order. I called the Restaurant and they said they would send me out a new order. 20 mins later the driver showed up and he had only half the order. So he went back to get the rest of the order. Another 30 mins later the driver showed up and the chicken burger i ordered was horrible. The Chicken was cold and dry, the bun was burnt and there was no sauce in the burger. Overall i would never order form here again and i suggest no one else does either

We visited this place to celebrate my first paycheck. I love the unlimited fizzy drinks, and the food was really nice. I particularly enjoyed the mini brownie and hot chocolate. Our waiter, Chrissy, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. She gave us plenty of time to choose our drinks and food, and she did an amazing job.

Since my hometown doesn’t have a Harvester, a friend and I decided to drive 30 miles to the nearest one in Lowestoft. Despite a delay caused by a traffic accident, we eventually arrived and were warmly welcomed by the reception staff, who quickly led us to our table. Our server, Divide, was both professional and charming; she took our order and thoughtfully recommended some items from the new menu launched that day, enhancing the comfortable and inviting atmosphere. I opted for Harvester’s Famous Full Rack of Ribs, served with classic chips and salad, which I helped myself to from the salad bar, paired with a medium glass of orange juice. The ribs were tender, falling off the bone, and cooked to perfection. During our visit, I used the men’s restroom, which was clean and well kept. Parking was easy as I found a spot directly opposite the main entrance. All in all, we enjoyed a delightful and satisfying evening

I visited Harvester to celebrate my boyfriend's first paycheck from his new job, and I must say, the experience was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious so is the salad bar. However, I do wish there was a bit more variety on the menu. Aside from that, Harvester truly exceeded my expectations!

Over all experience not very pleasant, I struggle to find something vegetarian has most things on the menu was unavailable my vegetarian burger and chips were cold with some not very nice dressing on, chips had black speckles on them, my friend’s Gammon steak was cooked on one side, and a,so note very hot, the salad bar was terrible mainly pasta . Our waitress Jodie was very attentive and professional, and apologised she didn’t charge us for my burger. Not sure I would return. But thank you to waitress Jodie for explaining things and being easy to talk with. Ps, Toilets not very clean.

I ate at this Harvester on Monday 21st July. My family and I were staying in Great Yarmouth and fancied a Harvester. Potters Kiln came up as the nearest Harvester. We had not booked in advance for our table at lunch time. From the moment we entered we were met with a nice man who was front of house who was able to seat us straight away. We didn't get the name of our waitress but she had black hair on one side and blonde on the other side with piercings, she made us feel right at home and was so accommodating and lovely. One of my children has a food allergy and she went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable with what we were ordering and was very informative about allergies. The restaurant was very clean, salad bar was fresh and well stocked. Our drinks were served quite quickly and there was not to much of a wait on food while we piled up our salad bowls. My steak I asked for well done and was cooked to perfection. All the meals my family ordered aswell as my children really enjoyed their food and it was a thumbs up from the kids. We were spoilt for choice with the dessert selection, my son was so glad their was a vegan ice cream choice. All our desserts were tasty and presented well. Their was plenty of parking avaliable. The toilets were really clean. I would definitely recommend visiting this Harvester.

We haven't been to the Potters Kiln for a while and decided to visit there for a change. Lovely atmosphere and very clean. Excellent varied menu, suitable for all dietary requirements. Our waitress 'Ariel' was fantastic. So friendly with everyone and not at all flustered whilst coping with quite a few tables at the same time. Today's experience was enough to encourage me to book a table for my family when we can celebrate my birthday in a couple of weeks time. Looking forward to visiting again.

Visited today with my daughter and grandson. Perfect place for families. Lots of animals & birds to see. Large sandpit and play area for the little ones to play in. Went into the gift shop after and the prices of items were quite reasonable compared to other zoos we have visited. The price to get in was really cheap. Highly recommend

An absolutely fantastic day out, it was our first visit here and my toddler loved it. There was so much to see, the enclosures and park as a whole are really nicely designed, with plenty to see and do for all ages. The staff were very helpful and friendly, with a particular shout out to George who was leading the hourly talks and was extremely knowledgeable and more than happy to chat after each one to answer any questions. Excellent value for money, one of the best out of the zoos I've visited in recent years and highly recommended!
Chris W — Google review
I visited with my wife and toddler as a family day out for his second birthday. The zoo itself is lovely, with large enclosures and loads of animals to see. Unfortunately, possibly due to the time of year, only one cafe was open. This filled up very quickly at midday with very few tables inside, which wasn't helped by a sudden rain shower. There are plenty of outdoor picnic tables and places to eat if you bring in your own food, which may be necessary outside peak season. We purchased the tickets online the night before, as recommended on the website, this gave us a small saving and meant we went in quickly upon arrival. For the size of the site, it's good value for money and would recommend it as a family day out for those in the area. My only criticism would be the signs for the car park could be bigger and clearer. Upon arrival, there was a car boot sale open in the same area with big, bold signs for parking, which resulted in me going into the wrong car park.
Chris N — Google review
Amazing array of stunning animals and a huge place in general. The entertainment was top notch and our boy (2y/o) was very happy all day. There was so much tk explore that we still didn't see after a full day there.

Enjoyed our bank holiday day out at Africa Alive. It's a shame to see so many empty enclosures, but the occupied ones are clean and fairly spacious. There are seats & picnic tables dotted around the park if you want a few moments to relax or have your sarnies & snacks. There is, of course a couple of cafés, serving hot & cold food & drinks, not to mention ice creams too. It is well worth a visit, & if you go before September 2025, you'll get discounted entry to Banham Zoo.
Nikky T — Google review
Love this zoo. The animals look so well cared for and the enclosures look lovely. A really nice walk around, not too large. We've done several experiences here too, and the keepers are so knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend for a good day out.

We Visited Africa Alive on a recent family trip (Two adults and two children) on a week day. Prices were very reasonable (around £40 total) the park has some amazing animals and you can get right up Close to them. The park could Do with a few more signs to let You know what is where as we found ourselves walking in circles a few times. There is plenty of places to stop for a picnic around the park. The day we visited unfortunately was a bit rainy and they offer a free return voucher to be used within 4 weeks if there is persistent rain for more than an hour. But we had a lovely time Despite The rain. Beware the car park and the entrance does flood in heavy rain so wear appropriate footwear if the weather is meant to be wet.

A fantastic family day out where you can see the animals up close and learn about them and the conservation effort being made to protect them. The zoo is well laid out with good facilities and plenty of extra activities for all the family including mini golf.

Specialty Museums
The East Anglia Transport Museum, situated in Carlton Colville near Lowestoft, Suffolk, is a one-of-a-kind open-air museum that offers visitors the opportunity to view and even ride on historic modes of street transportation from the past century. The museum features trams, trolleys, buses and other vehicles from different eras. It's an excellent destination for families seeking both educational and entertaining experiences.
The East Anglia transport museum gives a real step back in time with trams, trolley buses and period buildings with old cars and faux shops with products from past like Steam rollers, electric milk floats and some commercial vehicles. You can ride on their trams, two are in service daily and the vehicles are rotated every day. A trolley bus is in service and small train to go on. All the staff volunteers very helpful with knowledge of the place. They have two small cafes both reasonable price and toilets are clean and tidy. Well worth a visit 10/10

A lovely little place, full of charm and charisma. There were 2 trolley buses and 1 team to ride today, a first for me. There aren't too many exhibits, but what is there is accessible and oozes charm. The volunteers are a delight, and make the whole place feel very charismatic. An absolutely lovely step back to a more gentle time in history. Well worth a visit.

We spent a wonderful day at the East Anglia Transport Museum. The collection is large and very well presented, and the whole site is designed so thoughtfully that it really feels like stepping back in time. Old shops, a post office, and other period buildings create a unique atmosphere of the past. The highlight for us was being able to ride the historic vehicles - a train, tram, trolleybus, and bus - it brought the whole experience to life and made it unforgettable for the children. You can easily spend a whole day here as a family, there is so much to see and do. It’s also clear the museum is developing and growing, with more locations opening soon, which makes us want to come back again. A truly remarkable place that combines history, education and fun. Highly recommended!

We had seen amazing photos on Facebook, so we decided to visit - just over 2hrs travel time from Southend-on-Sea.... we visit Crich Tramway Museum in Derbyshire so came to compare and revisit some nostalgic memories. We were not disappointed. The layout is compact, but the volume of rides, waiting time, and Museum exhibits means that there is a lot to see. We also had a ride into Lowestoft on the RT. Well worth the entry fee, go visit.

We arrived before 11am and purchased ticket without hassle. It offered a year to revisit as if you are paying for gift aid. Kids below 5yrs old is free and we got on every transport for free. There also a stamp collection for kid to exchange a lollipop in the cafe. We tried electric bus and open roof bus, train and everything was amazing. We also had tea in the Cafe. For the price for those foods are amazingly good and friendly workers. We will revisit for sure. Thanks.

We went along to the transport museum for a special event. We also had the luxury of being driven to the museum in a 1965 coach, which was a treat and great fun. . There was an open air concert. The band were very good All the buses, trams and railway were fun to go around on. The shop displays and car displays are very well done. It was a fun day.

Pub
Nestled in the heart of a charming Georgian high street, The Crown is a delightful inn that has long been a favorite among daytrippers from London. Known for its exceptional Adnams beer, this seaside hotel restaurant has seen its ups and downs over the years but appears to be on an upward trend again. After two decades since my last visit, I was pleasantly surprised by the cozy atmosphere and stylish decor that welcomed me upon arrival.
Finally came here for a drink on a Sunday after driving past loads and constantly saying “We should go there one day”. Last time I visited was 20 years ago (wow I feel old). So wasn’t sure what to expect now. It’s a lot different to what I remember! So cosy instead, great decor, loads of drinks to choose from. The barman was very patient with me and my fussiness on how much lime I like in my lager and lime (and he made it perfectly!). Was lovely to sit outside, loads of seats and different options. Nice to have sofas out there and the birds are a really special touch! Parking is great round the back! Loads of spaces. Will visit again for sure.

It's an OK place if you just want a quick pint. Went on a bank holiday and only 3 people there. As much atmosphere as Mars. Staff was lovely but then again she only had four of us to look after. A big pub with a large empty area inside. Don't know how it survives; must be supported by a brewery or a philanthropist.

I called in on a lunchtime to get some food whilst I was on my way somewhere. Only the smaller bar food menu is available at Lunchtimes. This consists of typical British pub food. I went for the sausage and chips. It was excellent. Very much like you'd have at home. Exactly what I want from a pub, basic but really nice food. Service was excellent too. I was surprised to find it was close to deserted though, this is a great pub which deserves your support.

Not much of a drinker personally. Met up with my family to watch football, felt very welcomed by the happy staff. Beer was good, Happy to let grandchildren play on park as its away from the road and carpark. Didn't eat but food looked good. Tried to find menu online before I went but couldn't access one. Maybe it's only on social media which I don't do, Shame that.

★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ Really lovely family meal for my Birthday, the food was so yummy and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is clean, as are the toilets (always a plus for me!) and the outside seating area is really lovely. The prices are very reasonable and the menu has a good selection of food plus there is a specials board if you do fancy something a little different. The bar staff and waitresses were lovely, they clearly wanted to make sure we had a nice time and enjoyed the food but they weren’t overbearing at all (there’s nothing worse than being asked every 5 minutes if “everything is ok”) and we could tell that they genuinely cared if ‘everything was OK’ because they waited and listened to our replies (I’ve had many waitresses not even wait for a reply before walking g off in other pubs/restaurants!). Thank you for a lovely lunch, we are all looking forward to returning again soon ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★

Fish and chips takeaway
The Village Fryer in Kessingland is a local gem offering delicious gluten-free options. The owners are friendly and accommodating, ensuring that the food is cooked separately to avoid cross-contamination. Customers rave about the generous portions and the crispy, non-greasy batter on the fish. The service is prompt and welcoming, making it a convenient go-to spot for locals. With its proximity to the beach, it's an ideal place to satisfy your craving for delectable fish and chips.
Really nice fish and chips, generous portion sizes. We had 2 large haddock, 1 large chips, mushy peas, a battered sausage and a savaloy between two of us, and there was plenty! They even had buttered rolls, a must for a chip butty! Prompt service, really friendly staff. Not tried the other chippy in town yet, next time! ☺️

We ordered from here whilst staying at the Parkdean for the weekend. We can a mixture of chips, saveloy, sausages, cod, haddock and curry sauce. Portions sizes were huge. The fish in particular were huge. The only issue I faced was the Haddock was pretty tasteless however everyone else enjoyed their food.
Heidi B — Google review
So we found it difficult to find somewhere open for food on a Monday in Kessingland. After finding two closed fish & chip shops we discovered 'The Village Fryer' Our first impression, the chip shop appeared clean and we really liked the fact; they take your order on the far left and serve and take payment on the far right.. great for maintaining social distancing. The staff were very pleasant. The food was reasonably priced, small chips £2, medium chips £2.20 and large chips £2.60. (Picture uploaded of current prices and options) So far so good.. So why only 3 Stars?? Well the food itself was not great, the chips were very average, the sausage ok but the breadcrumb fish cake had been overcooked, verging on cremated, making it dry, tasteless and unpleasant. All of the food had a strange 'twang' aftertaste, not sure whether this was the cooking oil or vinegar. This was certainly not for us and we would not return.

I recently visited this fish and chip shop and the service was very good. The fish itself was flaky and tender, cooked to perfection with a crispy batter. The chips were lovely too. Ooo some classy dining in lowey but at a good price! Wanted something for lunch that wasn’t a roast (being a Sunday most places are roasts). Decided to try iconic and was not disappointed. We parked In the nearest car park which was about a minute walk. We were greeted with a warm welcome and attentive server and shown to our seats. We went for the grill as there was an offer of a free soft drink with every meal, (alcohol was an additional £1.50) and I went for the steak. The atmosphere is classy and vibrant and you feel like you’re in a high end establishment but you can just enjoy the classic food and drink which is a nice medium. The food as you can see is generous portions and the steak was cooked nearer well done over medium (steak is hard to master so will let them off!), chips appeared hand cut which I liked. The onion rings were sadly very greasy and I avoided a lot of the batter because of this, the salad also had an orange slice and bit of watermelon which I’m still not sure if works when you have a pile of carbs next to it, I didn’t eat these. My other half had the 3 steps to heaven and he said was nice but the sauce was a little too sweet. It’s definitely worth a visit, great for date night, friends and family alike or even alone. One thing I did like was the staff were well presented with matching uniforms and professional, they were very attentive to all customers and helped an elderly man with a walker get in an out of the building as it does have steps at the front (no step free access) which says a lot about their appreciation of customers. They said thank you for coming when we left and felt wanted and appreciated. You could lose many hours here just relaxing. ☺️

A very small pier but there are plenty of slot machines to keep the children entertained. I've given an extra * because all the staff really spoil the young children (prizes etc)
Peter P — Google review
There is a pleasant bar on the pier serving good food, and the staff are friendly. The amusement arcade is worth a visit too. Unfortunately, the pier itself is inaccessible due to years if dereliction, and parts of it are in something of a ruinous condition. I like to think if the businesses at the shore end thrive the owners will get the rest of the pier restored and reopened.

I absolutely love this venue, Still a recent take over the new owner have done nothing but move forward and improve the venue, Being able to walk out onto the pier is beautiful and so nice after many years of being closed. There was a night club there which I had the chance to visit but I've since learnt its closed that's not an issue though there is a couple of bars here to still enjoy a pint and some music. The arcade is clean and incredibly interactive and up to date. I definitely recommend a visit

The Seagull is a charming community theater located in Pakefield, offering a cozy atmosphere for local, regional, and national performing arts companies. Housed in a renovated former school turned arts center, the intimate venue with around 100 seats provides an enjoyable experience for visitors. The volunteer staff is friendly and accommodating, while the small bar offers reasonably priced refreshments.
Lovely intimate theatre, seating only around 100 which makes for a fantastic atmosphere in pleasant surroundings. Well stocked bar and a busy schedule of various shows & live music. A gem of a venue off the beaten track a walk down the southern end of town, & well worth the effort if your ever in Lowestoft.

Fantastic show Song Sung Blue ( Neil Diamond) last night in the lovely little Seagull Theatre . Full house with a great view, sound and atmosphere. Performers were excellent with great voices and extremely entertaining and informative. Venue was just lovely, intimate space ( approx 144 seats) close proximity to stage, plenty of legroom and air con........staff all very pleasant and welcoming.......plenty of close parking. Ticket cost absolutely amazing for such accomplished musicians........highly recommend!

We’ve seen so many great shows here. It’s a small theatre and you can see the stage from every seat. It has a lovely bar selling mugs of tea and coffee as well as wine and beer. Very reasonably priced. Has recently been refurbished. Really nice people. 100% recommend this lovely place.

Lovely little Theatre, have seen many good events here. This time we saw a tribute band to Fleetwood Mac called Songbird. Sold out event and EXCELLENT is the only thing I need to say. If you get a chance go and see them.

Oh my goodness what a lovely old little theatre now local to me. We only recently moved to the area and had passed this theatre when visiting but when we picked up a flyer for an event in a local shop we decided to go. We had a fantastic evening, buying a drink (not overpriced) before the event and we enjoyed our evening so much we booked a few for during the year when we got home.

Smashing venue for small gigs. Good acoustics, friendly and organised staff, with an onsite bar.

Nice little theatre, although a tad cosey. The stage was a bit low,so the view of performers feet was limited. Bar staff were friendly and efficient, payment was easy.

East Coast Cinema, located on London Road South, offers a nostalgic movie experience with its old-fashioned setting and four screens showcasing the latest Hollywood releases. The cinema is situated near popular attractions such as Claremont Pier, South Pier Family Entertainment Centre, Richardson's Family Entertainment Centre, Waterlane Leisure Centre, and Merkur bingo hall. Visitors can enjoy a local atmosphere and reasonable prices while indulging in popcorn, sweets, and soft drinks at the lobby.
Our favourite Cinema. Some of the theatres are tiny but this genuinely adds to the charm. It doesn't detract from the viewing experience either, with lovely clear screens and fantastic audio. Great value too, usually around £6 a viewing. This place deserves all the support it can get.

Really lovely independent cinema. There’s parking quite close by which is a little expensive but nothing crazy. The cinema has very reasonable tickets and incredibly reasonable food and drink prices. The staff are friendly and the actual seats and cinema is amazing quality. I really recommend this!
Athiene M — Google review
This is such a wonderful, quirky little cinema, built around the 1920's I believe, which my husband and I have passed many a time on our holiday breaks, but now as we actually live nearby we decided to go here to see a film. Well we were in screen 4, which is all I believe this cinema has (4 screens), it had 28 seats and we were the only two in there. You can order tickets on line, they are reasonably priced and husband whose a tad over 60 got in cheaper, you then type in the sent code into a machine in the foyer to retrieve tickets. Seating is where you want to sit, not allocated and they also serve hot and cold drinks and snacks, reasonably priced in the foyer too. Will definately be coming here again, use it or lose it.

The East Coast Cinema was a lovely place to visit. The seats were lovely and comfortable. We went on a Sunday morning and got an early bird ticket for only £4.90, which was great value. The staff were polite, friendly, and very helpful.

Wonderful cinema! Always go here to see films on there release dates. Very good experience today. Stuck in Latitude traffic and staff member kindly allowed us to move our ticket from 2:30pm to 5pm. Phenomenal service ⭐️

To my family and I this is what going to the cinema is all about . A fantastic selection of films, outstanding customer service and value for money. A cosy cinema with just the right feel to it , this has everything the larger cinemas can never regain , with charm and that personal touch. Polite, considerate and professional staff. Having just enjoyed the Avatar 3D experience we look forward to our next family cinema outing soon .

My partner and I came to the cinema in the very early afternoon to see a film, and there was a minor mishap with the screen not having the film we were there to watch. The manager was the one my partner ended up speaking to, and he was very effective in how he addressed the situation. The manager got us into a different screen which had that film in its database and skipped the adverts for us so we could see the film quickly as we had been waiting for twenty minutes before my partner suggested enquiring as to why the film hadn't started as yet. The manager was so kind and very communicative all throughout the process and checked up on the screen to make sure the film was playing once all was said and done. He later thanked us for our patience, which was incredibly kind of him as we didn't feel anyone was at fault for the situation. Such a lovely timeless and always immaculately tidy place which I've been visiting since I was a child multiple times a day, and the manager is just incredible.

Waterlane Leisure Centre in Lowestoft offers a variety of activities for visitors. Couples can enjoy a relaxing retreat at Rosie's Day Spa or opt for a day pass to unwind together. The center features amenities such as badminton courts, swimming pool, spa facilities, virtual spinning classes, squash courts with equipment available on-site, gym for workouts, cycling, rock climbing and a soft play area for kids. Visitors appreciate the easy accessibility and ample parking as well as the clean and bright environment.
This is a nice centre to visit. A lot of different activities available; I only visit to play squash though. There are 4 squash courts from what I could see. Rackets and balls are available on sight. There's also swimming, a gym for workouts, cycling, rock climbing and a soft play area for kids. I travel from Great Yarmouth which only takes 18-19 minutes drive. No need for a membership in order to use the facilities. I would definitely recommend.
Ramon M — Google review
Changing rooms/showers stink of piss, hot tub out if use which is disappointing, steam room had absolutely no steam so was pointless, sauna not hot at all and broken bits of wood so dangerous. Will be cancelling my membership as not exactly cheap, complete rip of, also looks like it hasn't been cleaned in years. Shame that there's constantly swimming lessons going on so you can't swim at a reasonable time.
Amelia S — Google review
Wanted to join to go early morning swimming and decided it was more beneficial to get a membership rather than pay as you go. The changing rooms are not the cleanest. Discarded chewing gum on the floor and generally needs a good sweep and a mop out. Lots of locker keys are missing the wristband and lots are permanently locked. The pool itself is ok. A fair few leave water bottles, bags, locker keys etc on the side of the pool, especially around the steps. I went for the slow lane swim and on day one the comments from obvious regulars about newbies booking slots which meant less for them and their friends! Surely it’s first come first served! The majority swim one after the other which is great at a nice pace but there’s always those who are overtaking, cutting in to speak with their friends and those that are damn right rude. I did book the Public Swimming in the teaching pool for a 6am start. Great little pool but again, regulars take priority and you know about it. I’ve done a week and to be brutally honest, can’t take any more of feeling like you’re not welcome.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Got all the training for the gym from James, who was happy, friendly, informative and caring regarding our health problems. The centre was superbly clean and hygienic everywhere we went. There was adequate facilities for the disabled and excellent parking area. Lastly, their security was excellent. I recommend this facility to everyone from beginners to professionals.

Some instructors are great, others not so good. Too many kids to a group. In a 30 minutes session, each kids has no more than 5 mins of swimming. This review is probably specific to the group my child is in, but even still. I wouldn't recommend.

Short staffed on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm, tried to purchase a swimming costume for my 5 year old so we could go swimming but they refused as no one able to use the till, No signs anywhere and had to wait 15mins at reception to be told this. Very disappointing, never had this problem anywhere else.

Was sat in waterlane cafe area after buying food and a drink with my friends like we do every day after college when we was approached by Izzy one of the staff members who was nothing but rude when she come over instead of asking if we had been spoken to about what we was doing there instead she came over with an attitude and accused us of ignoring them and saying we had already been told to leave which was false and proceeded to tell us we was lying. Very disappointed in the choice they have as never had an issue before. 😠😠😠

Nice bar and restaurant. I was staying locally and just fancied fresh fish and chips and this place popped up on a Google search. We weren't disappointed, the staff were friendly and efficient, the service was great and the food really, really tasty. The fish was beautifully cooked and I don't know how they cooked the chips but they were amazing. (I wish I'd taken another photo of the fish and chips, my picture does not do it justice). Also the door says it's heavy, and it is, it made me laugh for some reason!

After just arriving in Lowestoft we walked past a few pubs that didn’t excite us enough to go in until we reached The Harbour. It looks good from the outside and is clean and well kept inside. All staff were cheerful and friendly, greeting us when we walked in and telling us it was table service for food. I opted for the pie of the day and Mrs D chose the fish and chips, each costing just £13, which is excellent value for money. The pie was packed full and the pastry was beautifully crisp and flaky. The fish was nice and thick with crisp batter and accompanied by a large pile of chips. A great find which I totally recommend.

Me and my partner went for a late valentines meal and we got seated immediately. The staff were lovely and our food came our right away (if you get loaded fries share because they are massive). I think it was definitely worth the price and staff were so attentive and did many checkbacks. It was a lovely date and we both really enjoyed ourselves.

Great place. We were greeted warmly by the staff, food was good - we had chicken on a bucket which almost defeated us the portion was so generous! Would recommend wholeheartedly if you're in the area. We were only staying one night in Lowestoft and pleased that we picked the Harbour for our evening meal. Thank you!

Was a bit unsure of where to have lunch, opted for the Harbour Inn. It looks very different than you expect from looking at it from the outside... actually quite liked the inside! We were greeted when we went in and quickly found a table, menus have a little bit of variety, and they also have some specials. Kids menu was also available which was good news, and we was told that we could swap some bits if we needed for the kids! Food was nice and lots of different options for drinks. We all enjoyed our food and we were too full for desert! Staff were all friendly, and the place seemed clean. If you get a spot near the window you may also get to watch the bridge go up which is a bit of a novelty! (Both for me and the kids!)

First time we’ve been in here. We received a warm welcome upon entering and the fantastic service and hospitality continued throughout. The food was extremely tasty (halloumi burger, falafel burger, and two lots of hand-cut fries) and the portions sizes were very generous. The decor was great and everywhere looked very clean and well-looked-after. We noticed they have a shuffleboard, which is very rare in the UK. We will definitely return soon for some food and a game or two.

By far the best Chinese in town and good value. Very fast delivery *Update Used to be the best but what I had from there this evening was very average. The ribs had very little meat and the sauce was tasteless. Spring rolls were soggy. Chips were dry. Soup was tasteless. Sweet and sour sauce was watered down. The remaining dishes were ok. It's such a shame as this place was our go to.

The New Raj Mahal restaurant offers a delightful ambiance with a warm and welcoming staff who provide attentive service. The cuisine is exceptional, delivering excellent value for money. With a diverse menu offering various dishes such as the mixed grill, rogan josh, chicken tikka masala, and vegetarian curry, there is something to please everyone's taste buds. The extensive meal comprised four mains accompanied by rice, naan breads, poppadoms, sides, and drinks for only £90.
I have just had the most wonderful meal for one of balti chicken with a tandoori chicken starter. Also included was a poppadom, small salad, side dish, and a canned drink. I added mint sauce and plain naan to my meal and have enjoyed an absolute feast with such generous portions there is plenty left for tomorrow. Thank you so much for such beautiful food . See you again. 🙏

Not very nice food, very bland,.. Heat, no spice?!.. The onion Bahjis were raw.. the egg rice smelt like washing liquid & had hard bits in the rice.. Flat bottled, warm cola. All through the meal we was the only couple in the restaurant throughout the whole experience the waiter just kept walking past us back & fourth... I finished my meal first & he swept my plate while my friend was still eating which I found rude. Lacks flavour, customers & experience hospitality experience.

Working nearby and I have visited on every trip since discovering it. A nice walk from my hotel along the sea front then a great view from the pub. The food was the best I’ve had, this time I went for the whole place in shrimp sauce with potatoes and beans, £23 but worth every penny. The fish was perfectly cooked and quite thick so my hesitation about not satisfying my appetite was not needed. The beer was problematic pumping and although acceptable I questioned it 🤔 and was asked if ok but did not want to be fussy as just a bit on the flat side but was real ale. After the meal the nice lady said she had changed the barrel and would I like a half on the house which I accepted ,very good service in going that bit further to look after customers .👍

Popped in for something to eat, saw they had Abbots Ale on tap so had that with the fish and chips. The food was good, let down a little by the chips. The beer was very disappointing as it was cloudy and had floaters in it. The bar staff apologised and said someone had just moved the barrel a little too hard, and they refunded me the cost of the pint. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

A spontaneous visit to the scenic Carlton Marshes on a sunny January Sunday with a Labrador and three children proved to be a delightful outing. While the little ones could not complete the entire route, they enjoyed exploring part of it before retracing their steps through the charming pond dipping trail. The nature reserve boasts breathtaking views and offers walks of varying lengths to cater to all preferences. Dogs are welcome as long as they remain on leads, and families will be pleased with the excellent play area for children.
Carlton Marshes was a lovely place to visit. We walked over three miles. There are several different pathways to take. There are several places to sit and rest on your way round. Dogs are allowed on a lead. There are toilets at the entrance, including disabled ones. There is a café, which serves light lunches, drinks and ice lollies. There is a gift shop for your souvenirs and homemade chutneys. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful.

Having not long been living in this area we want to visit lots of places around, for family to enjoy as well as ourselves. This place was so much better than I expected. As we had walked to the nature park we started off in the cafe for lunch and a drink. The staff in here were so friendly and helpful and the lunch we had was lovely especially being able to sit on the veranda outside enjoying the perfect peaceful view. We could have just sat there for ages as its that relaxing but we didn't! We popped to have a nose in the shop and then went on one of the walks, beautiful. After the walk we returned to the cafe for a cold drink before making our way home, by foot. There's picnic tables here so you can bring your own food , a children's play area and plenty of parking too. We will definately be returning.

Well maintained track and trails for walk. It’s free. Beautiful landscape surrounding this area. Lot of spider species you can see. Toilet facilities were good too. Food is available. Only downside was we asked for the scooter for disabled but both scooters were unavailable and it was on charging. Staff should charge them during night.

We didn't see a lot of wildlife but it was a nice walk on easy paths around the marshes. There are hides along the way tat you can use. I think if you had the right photographic and viewing equipment and were prepared to spend a day there it would be an interesting place to visit. The cafe serves nice food, tea and coffee or you could just bring a picnic.

We found the place by accident as we were passing by. We had a lovely time - the play area was great and the walks through the marshes lovely. Lots of bugs, birds and little fish to look for. We even saw a deer and cute calves. A good cafe too. Well worth a visit.

Nicholas Everitt Park, located on the scenic Oulton Broad, is a delightful green oasis that invites both locals and visitors to unwind. Originally part of a private estate owned by Nicholas Everitt in the late Victorian era, it was later gifted to the town by philanthropist Howard Hollingsworth after Everitt's passing in 1908. The park features an array of family-friendly attractions such as a boating lake, trampolines, and crazy golf—perfect for summer fun!
We stayed in Lowestoft over Christmas and Nicholas Everitt Park was two minutes from where we stayed I visited this park every morning after breakfast for my daily exercise and walked the whole perimeter including Oulton Broad. I absolutely loved this place and the best part of it was the Wildlife which consisted of Swans Gulls ducks Squirrels lots of Songbirds Crows and Cormorants which were amazing to watch. The park is clean and beautiful to walk around its full of trees and right on the waters edge a real lovely pleasant and scenic place to spend some time. We found a little shop close by that sells bags of food for the birds and swans for £1 so we bought a lot and went every day to feed the birds which was highly amusing as it caused a frenzy as a race for the food became a daily habit. There’s lots of friendly little Robins in the park too who love to be fed we took mealworms and they came right up to my feet. People were friendly and Oulton Broad was really chilled and a nice place to walk around there’s a lovely cafe there and I look forward to returning as the wildlife was everywhere which is wonderful to see as it was incredibly peaceful and restful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I love this park! I've been going here since I was a child. It's Lovely for a little family trip out or for just walking the dog! I mainly come here to do some photography and to enjoy a walk with my little family :) A lovely place to have a picnic in the summer, and enjoy an ice cream!

This beautiful park is a must-visit when you're in Lowestoft. It's equipped with a bandstand for summer entertainment, a fantastic children's play area, and is conveniently located near Oulton Broad for watersports.

Day out at the power boat racing, free and fun. Away from the racing it’s just a nice place to wander and relax or fish. Food, ice creams and beer on sale and a small tackle shop. There is also a decent amount of pay parking which is a nice wooded area in its own right.

Wonderful park, dog friendly, a big space with places to eat, have a nice walk, run, cycle, or just sit, relax and enjoy the moment.

Beach
Corton Beach is a unique destination, being one of England's most easterly and Suffolk's most northerly beaches. It is also known as an unofficial naturist beach. Despite its proximity to Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park, the beach offers ample space and tranquility, with an adjacent nature reserve providing peaceful spots for relaxation and leisurely walks. Access to the beach is via steps, which may pose challenges for those with mobility issues.
A great place to walk with your dogs. Not too busy and very pleasant
Kathryn H — Google review
Among the most beautiful, least crowded and well maintained beaches in the region. Worth a visit surely.

Great nudist-friendly beach. Nice sand, and easy access, from nearest road and bus route, while being pretty private. Make sure and take a picnic, There are no facilities or bars within walking distance. Best of luck for next year, if the rocks are still safe!

Beautiful beach, lots of different levels to walk through. Full of nature, we even found a glow bug one evening. This is my favourite beach and the kids love it too x

I was here on Saturday 11/09/21 .... A little slice of heaven ❤ if you are happy to sit on a beach listening to the sound of the sea in a world of your own then this is wonderful beach. We were fortunate enough to have it all to ourselves for a long period of time (even at mid morning) we did access it via the steps, I believe I counted 100 in total so not great access for less able folk. Not sure if there is another way in for people? Worth every step down though, lovely piece of tranquility awaits you at the bottom 🥰
Lisa S — Google review
A very nice beach traditionally used by Naturists for many years. Ignore the notice board declaring that the beach is not a Naturist beach and that “lewd behaviour” (as opposed to Naturist behaviour) “will be prosecuted”. This sign was erected by the Parish Council and does not represent the views of the District Council nor indeed the Police who are both fully aware that innocent nakedness in a public place such as a beach (i.e. as practiced by Naturists) is not illegal and should not be regarded as and reported as an offence in law.

Fantastic naturist beach. Highly recommend for the proper beach experience. Just watch out for the creepy, ignorant voyeurs from the local parish council.

Richardson's Family Entertainment Centre in Lowestoft is a fantastic hub for family fun, nestled in the vibrant Suffolk seaside town. This lively venue offers an array of activities that cater to all ages, including 14 ten-pin bowling lanes equipped with automatic bumpers for players of every skill level. Families can enjoy glow bowling and explore the exciting Richies Adventure Island soft play area while parents unwind at the Cityscape Bar or savor delicious meals at the Galley Diner & Restaurant.
Have visited on multiple occasions and can genuinely say it's one of the best bowling alleys we've been too. It's kept very clean, the staff are always very polite and friendly, they have a good selection of bowling balls and a well sized soft play for little ones. They also have several pool tables and other amusements which is all reasonably priced, and a small bar with a decent selection of drinks. I would highly recommend visiting and we will continue to do so (whenever we have the time!)
Sam B — Google review
Excellent bowling at reasonable rates. Bar prices very cheap with spirits from £2.50. Plenty to keep little man happy (aged 5). Ample car park. Only criticism is tv volume so loud could not talk whilst playing bowls or sitting in bar. Only party in bar for over an hour and a half, but bar staff stated management orders dictate full volume throughout centre whilst euros were on despite only them watching it. Visited 16.00hrs till 19.30hrs on a Saturday evening.

Birthday bowling with friends!! Had fun & staff really helpful. Bar was packed and only one behind the bar and was overflowing and had a wait which could have been sorted out easily. Bowling all lanes full and packed which was great to see for a family business in our home town. More staff are needed so all areas yet they were brilliant & professional.

It was great fun, plenty of space, we had lunch too, basic but well cooked, ladies in restaurant area work hard probably need another staff member although didn't have to wait long, and table available in another restaurant towards the back. No one to clear tables or look at the toilets. The only issue is the parking, very limited, we had booked lanes but had to sit in car and Hope another family would leave soon

Beach
South Beach in Gorleston-on-Sea is a popular destination with locals and visitors alike, offering a wide expanse of sandy shoreline perfect for family activities like building sandcastles and flying kites. The beach also features a yachting pond, paddling pool, and esplanade below grassy cliffs. It's an ideal spot for water sports enthusiasts, including windsurfing, surfing, and bodyboarding. Dog owners can enjoy designated areas where their pets can roam freely.
To note, no dogs between 1st May - 30th September. Outside of these months dogs can run free off the lead. The beach is gorgeous golden sand. There are toilets on the beach too which are free. There is an old pier. There are steps up to the top, but also a slope for buggies. The beach itself when the tide is out is very wide. There are plenty of parking places nearby, including Royal Green Car Park. One of the nicer beaches in the uk definitely!!
R J — Google review
Even on a wet day in the middle of winter, this beach was really nice. Beautiful views and appears well looked after. Found it much more enjoyable just to walk around as it's not saturated with amusements like some of the other nearby spots. Parked in town, about a 5 minute walk to the beach.
Tom D — Google review
Brilliant wide sandy beach on a beautiful Suffolk coastline and has loads of beach huts on the seafront toilets are nearby and also a short walk from Claremont and South pier it was high tide when we visited today the sea was quite moderate too but easy getting down for a nice long paddle and the weather stayed dry it was also nice and quiet on the beach too and plenty of room to sit and watch the world go by
Hank E — Google review
Visited this beach to see the 'Giant Walking Men' very impressed both with the 8ft sculptures and the beach itself. Very clean sandy beach. Good car park close by.
J H — Google review
What a lovely beach. So clean, well designed, and very safe. I loved walking along the promenade as there were separate lanes for cyclists and for people walking. Plenty of bins for people to get rid of rubbish. The beach itself is great, you can either go on one side which is more pebbly or the other side is sandier. Either way it is well looked after and the lifeguards are visible, often out in the sea doing patrols. They use the flag system to let you know where it's safer to swim which is good. Plenty of places to eat and drink all the way along the seafront and fairly priced. Loads of parking nearby, some pay at the meter (or using Ringgo) and some free spots if you're willing to venture further. Atmosphere at the beach was very relaxed and there were lots of people having fun, as they should. It's definitely a well respected and looked after beach. Only thing I felt was missing was that you couldn't go along the pier otherwise it was a thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Beautiful beach, might just be my new favourite! Quite butbwith a few retardants and puns as well as beachy shops. Beautiful clean sea amd a lovely walk up along the beach leading into the town. If you walk right along the beach you will come across a pavilion, pub and then the town centre 😀. Fid you know that lowestoft is the most easterly point in the UK!! Great sunrise can be captured here 👌

We choosed this for a beach volleyball and it was amazing. Sand by the huts have been so soft! It gets worse going closer to the sea, however, nice and sandy, quiet shallow way into the sea again. Some entertainments around. Car park right behind the huts. Toilets have been out of order but temporarily ones standing outside. Not too overcrowded even on a bank holiday.

Beach
Pakefield Beach, located just south of Lowestoft, is a charming destination with far-reaching views and a shoreline dotted with fishing boats. The beach is known for its sand and shingle composition, divided by wooden groynes. It's also a great spot for fossil hunting. While it may give off a basic vibe and lacks amenities like beach shops, it offers a serene atmosphere for leisurely walks and enjoying the natural beauty.
Another lovely beach visited in the area, spent an hour walking along the shore, enjoying the weather and the sea air. Not too busy being Mid October, enjoyed watching the other walkers and dog walkers similarly enjoying the beach.
Lonedragon73 — Google review
Really nice place, just a bit out of the town, quite and wide however there are some pubs or restaurants in walking distance :-)
Jaroslaw P — Google review
Pakefield Beach is a charming destination, although it does give off a rather basic vibe, almost like a place more suited for a dog walk than a leisurely beach visit. While the landscape is undoubtedly beautiful, I did find it difficult to fully enjoy sitting on the pebbles due to the presence of numerous spiders and insects. It's worth noting that there is no beach shop available, but thankfully, public toilets are provided for visitors' convenience. Despite the lack of certain amenities, the overall natural beauty of the beach makes it a worthwhile spot to explore and appreciate.
Chioma O — Google review
Nice clean beach plenty wide open space, absolutely brilliant for dog walkers and children to run round and burn off all their energy. Please note the sea has a large drop at this end of town, if you want to go paddling it's much safer to go after the dunes closer to Lowestoft beach.
Plur W — Google review
Lovely peaceful basic beach, nice that dogs can explore here, seems a bit of a dog poopy beach tho, not sure how I feel about my baby playing on the sand? Think I will head towards Southwold or find other family beaches for baby to enjoy when weather is warmer! I’m still quite new to the area so don’t know many. Jolly sailor restaurant is good here and only place you can eat at it seems at the moment. There’s a tea house but that’s order and collect only. Parking is cheap here I am told. I didn’t drive/pay but those that did said it was good! Oh cute beach houses also. Didn’t use toilets by they are there and saw a tap for water by them too. Not any beach shops which is a shame but don’t think it’s that kind of beach.. would be good if was though!
Jessica C — Google review
Clean open beaches, cycle paths and not full of trashy arcades. Free public toilets and beach huts to hire if needed.

Modern European restaurant
Restaurant
MarkG, located on High Street, is a modern European restaurant offering an exquisite seafood dining experience in a delightful setting. The menu features dishes crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients and is regularly updated based on market availability. Guests can indulge in delectable snacks like Filo & Twine Bread and Deep Fried Salted Cockle Popcorn. Embracing local, rustic, seasonal, and sustainable elements, the restaurant presents a fusion of British and European culinary influences.
We visited Mark G’s for a valentines date night! The restaurant has a lovely feel to it, intimate, but not awkward. Attentive, professional, knowledgeable staff. Food was absolutely divine. Everything so fresh and tasty. Presented beautifully. Highly recommended-a little gem in Lowestoft!

Lovely unassuming restaurant. It is good to report that 1 year on since our last visit, the food and service is still excellent.
Richard — Google review
The main was superb, but honestly, I can’t remember EVER having a better starter. My companion and I shared a bowl of popcorn cockles and deep fried whiting. We could have just had another bowl of those for the main. In the event, we moved on to a luscious haddock chowder and heavenly skate wing. Fabulous place.
Emma H — Google review
Just my opinions, the restaurant and others may disagree - that's fine! The service was excellent. The place has a nice atmosphere. For us though the food and drink could have been better. The food provided was of a very high quality and was cooked superbly, but the plates we had were bland overall, being protein and carb heavy. Starters were great. Beetroot Humus and Tortilla Chips, lovely. The chicken pate was rich and tasty. Probably could have had a smaller serving of the pate, against the amount of bread supplied. More bread would have been too much for a starter, so reduce the size of the pate maybe? Steak & Chips just comes with a small amount of green leaves, a greasy mushroom and a sauce they call steak ketchup. The sauce is difficult to describe but the word vulgar, seems to fit. There's no choice in the sauce provided. The steak was wonderfully tasty and the rosemary chips brilliant, but overall it was just bland plate of mostly chips and meat. It was also dry as the sauce wasn't nice, and not particularly edible. It needed a lot more fresh veg and colour on the plate and a choice of sauces. The whole seabream came with a slaw, which although delicious & wonderful in colour, it was a farty amount - just enough so they could balance it on top of the fish. It needed a big pile of that slaw beside the serving of the fish instead to give it more taste, colour and variety. The roasted potatoes were not as expected. They were more like boiled potatoes. There was no roasted crunch to them at all. The fish was wonderful, if somewhat full of small bones, but it was cooked perfectly and very tasty. With such a small amount of slaw it felt more like a bland plate of boiled potatoes and fish. This is probably me, but I don't enjoy my real ale as much when it is ice cold chilled. It takes the taste out of it. I've not researched this scientifically and I'm no expert on beer, except for how me and my mates like to drink our beers, but theirs was ice cold unfortunately. All in all this is a lovely place and the food provided was of a high quality and was cooked very well indeed. It just needs some tweaks to the plates to elevate themselves to a higher level. It is not a cheap place to eat so perhaps we expected more for our first visit. Recently I missed out on the works quarterly night out at this place as I had to cover the night shift at work. Everyone said it was great, which is why we decided to go. So maybe we were just unlucky? Main chefs night off perhaps? Would we return? Maybe. Not sure.

My wife and I just had a beautiful meal at Mark G's, Service was superb, atmosphere was just right, and our food was simply amazing. Top restuarant for sure. The Swordfish was cooked to perfection, and my Wild Mushroom was one of the very best I have had in a long time. All the dishes were professionally presented, and the chefs are very skilled without doubt, well done 👏 ✔️ 👍
Andrew C — Google review
We visited Mark G last night and we had a lovely evening. The menu and specials were varied, as we are seafood lovers this was an absolute dream and it was very difficult to pick a dish! The portions were good and very well presented. Unfortunately they did not have a kids menu but they were able to accommodate by preparing a small portion of fish and chips which my daughter loved. They had extensive drinks menu, but wish soft drinks were included as I don't drink alcohol. I'm not sure if it was my impression but the server almost seemed annoyed when I asked for what soft drinks they have. We will definitely come back when we are next back in Lowestoft as it was an incredible dining experience! Edit: one comment in hindsight, really didn't enjoy paprika on top of whitebait. Note to chef: it tasted bitter and made me want to cough, normally a spice like that should be cooked out.
Natalia L — Google review
Booked a table by sending an email. I had a quick response confirming my reservation. Free parking on the road outside, we were lucky and got a spot quite close. Nice spacious eating area and comfortable seating. The service was good, the food was nicely presented and tasty. Maybe a little expensive but that was OK. I forgot to take a photo of the starters and desserts.

What an amazing find! Nearly all the food is GF or can be adapted. GF beer and lager on tap which is a rare find. Portions are huge, the service was so friendly and its dog friendly too. We visited for Sunday roast and were not disappointed! I started with roast red pepper and tomato soup which was plentiful and very tasty. I had all three meats for the main event (beef brisket, turkey and ham). All were delicately smoked and served with the scrummiest vegetables (parsnips in August - yeah)! Service was prompt yet the meal unhurried. Highly recommended - I'm looking forward to a return visit already

Nestled in the heart of town, The Chippy has become a beloved spot since the easing of lockdown restrictions. This charming establishment is run by a friendly husband and wife duo who provide welcoming table service that makes every visit feel special. They cater exceptionally well to celiacs, offering dedicated batter and a separate fryer, along with suitable vinegar options.
Excellent chippy and best piece of Cod I have had in ages. What more could you want fish and chips in the paper, sitting on a sea front on a sunny spring evening with the smell of the sea air in your nostrils....yum yum yum. I will be back on my next visit to Lowestoft.

Great service, decent portion size of very tasty food. Gluten free cod bites were lovely

Not too bad , half decent portions , nice welcome but what let it down for me was the greasy place mats ( ate in) but worst of all , DIRTY CUTLERY! , had to take out and unwrap about half a dozen sets of knife and forks before I could find any that didn't have old food on them......YAK , plus the chips tasted as if the oil needs changing , had a sort of synthetic taste to them. Shame really as the portions were quite generous.

Excellent! The best fish and chips we have had in a long while. Good portions, and they cater for gluten free, batter is available on request. Clean and tidy restaurant with friendly and helpful staff. We look forward to returning.

Really tasty food at good prices. Sausages are a big step above standard chip shop items. Chips are excellent with crisp outsides and soft interiors. They fry using beef dripping, giving great taste and texture to chips and batter alike. Kind and friendly staff, too. We have enjoyed a couple of takeaways (there's also a restaurant) in April - May 2025, and they've been better than other, very highly regarded chip shops around. Visit if you get the chance.

The Oddfellows Arms, located in Lowestoft, has a fascinating history dating back to the early 19th century when it served as a meeting place for members of the Oddfellows fraternity. We had a lovely meal at The Oddfellows Arms in Pakefield. The chicken goujons were beautifully crispy – just how we like them. The scampi and chips were spot on, and the fish cakes were a cut above your average pub fare – full of flavour and nicely presented. Good food all round, served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The pub is ideally located near the coastal walk and green, where you’ll find benches and stunning sea views – perfect for a stroll before or after your meal. Nestled in the picturesque Southern Broads, Somerleyton Hall is a stunning transformation of a Jacobean manor into an exquisite early Victorian hall, redesigned in 1844. This architectural gem showcases the Anglo-Italian style and boasts beautiful antique furnishings alongside the iconic Crossley carpets, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels both elegant and lived-in. Visitors can immerse themselves in its rich history, which dates back to Viking times, while exploring its magnificent gardens adorned with diverse trees and plants.
A wonderful trip. I went with the Brownies when I was young and 20 years later wanted to visit on my birthday this year. Plenty of parking on arrival. Tickets booked in advance. Walked around the gardens. Dry day but if wet take appropriate clothing and umbrella. Wheelchair friendly. Lots to see for your ticket. Staff were friendly and really care about the grounds. Delicious carrot cake in the cafe afterwards .

Went to the Queen of Hearts event Feb 2025. It was a little chilly, but we still had a good time. There wasn't really much to look at, and I think our expectations were quite high as we'd never been before. Other than that, it was a great hour out getting lost in the maze. Stunning place to look around, but I bet it's lovely in summer.

Somerleyton Hall is definitely worthy of making the extra effort to visit. My friend and I had a relaxing, thoroughly enjoyable visit. We were delighted to visit a formally designed garden in parts, with other parts of the garden being more informal, wild and natural with a consideration and sympathy for nature and wildlife. Great to see an organic garden which must have a great diversity of insects. Some interesting plants, flowers and trees to see. We saw only a few other visitors, which made this a superb, tranquil visit as most other places are over busy and crowded. It gave us the feeling that we were the only visitors walking around in our own private gardens. It's a hidden gem and the low key, non touristic, low use of signage makes it far more charming and personal than other estates The cafe, has freshly prepared, delicious food, we were very pleased and especially as my friend is a Cordon Bleu trained chef... She was impressed with the Parsnip soup with a touch of apple. We loved the simplicity and light, it felt very uplifting to sit in the greenhouse/conservatory surrounded by the pelagoniums. Very friendly staff who are pleased to serve and who go the extra mile in serving. A very lovely lady served us, who was beautifully dressed, well mannered and who clearly loves her work in being very welcoming. Beautiful walled gardens with some good fruit collections, a peachery, pears, apples grapes, pumkins, gourds, tomatoes, chards and asparagus all growing in abundance. Some impressive trees. Thank you for a fabulous day. We will be back.

We chose to look round the gardens only, partly as the house is only open on select days in the summer, few or none of them in the school holidays. There are many differing parts to the gardens, from formal to more relaxed. This is not a National Trust property, so don't expect a garden that is pristine. This is obviously a garden in private ownership, managed by three valiant gardeners. It is used by the family for most of the year, hence we got glimpses of goal posts, pony jumps and inflatables for the swimming pool. The cafe was lovely. Possibly the best cup of tea (proper cup and saucer, teapot, loose leaf tea) and the best brownie I have ever had.

I came here today with my 8.5 month daughter, and we had an amazing time! The gardens are absolutely stunning! We were greeted at the entrance by a lovely lady, whom I had a chat with for a bit. Very friendly and helpful staff. I shall be bringing my daughter back when she's a little older. Highly recommend :)

The food in the cafe was amazing,as far as I am aware all the food is home made also using the produce from the kitchen garden. We had tomato & courgette soup & curried chickpea rool, both were delicious. A great range of gluten free, vegan & vegetarian food. The grounds, especially the old greenhouses & kitchen garden were amazing. The formal gardens are lovely aswell. The green houses are in a state of disrepair but they have been given a small grant to start restoration work on these historic structures. I think if they had a go fund me page for people to donate to it would create a lot of interest as they are a great example of the type of system used in their construction. Great place to visit. It is also an RHS partner garden, so if you are in the area it is well worth a visit.

Attended the Autumn Plant Fair. Very well organised from the car park attendants and ticket checkers to the cafe and food providers and of course the stall holders. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and made the visit very enjoyable. The Gardens are well maintained and even with the extreme weather conditions we have experienced remain stunning. Definitely one to visit again!

Just came back from a guided tour and been told by a tour guide in quite aggressive tone “it’s a family home, no pictures” but the internet full of pictures already, how come it is a family home? Not working for me, also too expensive for 40 minute talk. Enjoy the pictures!

Nestled within the picturesque Nicholas Everitt Park, the Lowestoft Museum is a treasure trove of maritime history and local heritage. Housed in a charming flint-faced building dating back to the 17th century, this museum showcases an impressive array of exhibits that highlight Lowestoft's rich past as a fishing village and its significant contributions during World War II. Visitors can explore fascinating maritime artifacts, including medals awarded to Royal Navy personnel and RNLI members, alongside captivating marine art.
Excellent free local museum in a lovely park. Lowestoft from the stone age to the modern era. Cafes and toilets nearby.

What a find. This museum is housed in an old house. Run by volunteers who were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We arrived by motorbikes and they very kindly looked after my husband's helmet whilst we looked around. The volunteer who greeted us was a young man who was so professional in the way he explained the museums layout and gave a brief history. The museum is housed over two floors and has many interesting and well presented exhibits. Very well laid out and informative. Definitely worth a visit and it's free. Will be coming back again in the future

👍🏻 Great little museum off the beaten track 👍🏻 No entry fee - make a donation pls 👎🏻 Not buggy/wheelchair friendly - multi-level building with stairs - no lift 👎🏻 No toilets on site - have to use nearby public toilets 👎🏻 Not well signposted - have to park nearby - walk through the park

Morrisons Cafe is a favorite spot for many visitors due to its amazing food and friendly staff. Despite occasional short staffing, the team remains cheerful and dedicated to providing great service. The cafe offers delicious and reasonably priced meals, making it a worthwhile visit. Some suggest that better signage would help in locating this hidden gem within the store. With good deals available, it's considered a brilliant choice for dining in Lowie.
I love coming here. Food is always amazing, the staff are always happy even tho there have been a few times ive been in and they are short staffed but they are always happy. I cant give more than 5 stars but i would if i could its not their fault things out of their control happen. I cant state that enough. I really love coming here. The staff are what make it such a nice place, sending love to them all bless them
Bethy H — Google review
Incredibly frustrated and disappointed with our visit today. Massively understaffed, far too much pressure on the few staff here (one of which clearly needs extra support). Customers and prospective customers have been spoken to so rudely, with over an hour wait on simple foods. The cutlery is dirty, the coffee machine isn't working properly and desperately needs cleaning, and there are no clean cups. A lady just left without a refund because she's been waiting even longer than we have. Hot food service has been ended early, and new people arriving are being yelled at that hot food isn't being served. When we finally received our food there was half of it missing and some put in shared bowls as they have clearly got nobody on pot wash. Having had great experiences at other Morrisons cafes I truly expected better from here. After working for ages in hospitality I'm shocked by the terrible service and we won't be back to this cafe again.
Sophie J — Google review
It's alright. Paid about a tenner for the ultimate breakfast and a large orange juice. Couldn't order on the touchscreen at the front so had to queue and pay. Wasted about 10 minutes. Found a table reasonably easily. Very noisy in there, though. Couldn't take a phone call easily. Food came after about 25 minutes which wasn't as fast as I'd hoped. The black pudding was missing so I had to flag a waitress down and ask for it. They were polite and apologetic. The food itself was okay but... how does the ultimate breakfast only come with one egg? Shame.

Tracey was extremely rude at the till and when she brought our food out. Missing items on the breakfast, bacon was not cooked properly. Dirty cutlery and tables.

I ordered a breakfast and a coffee. The coffee machine was broken, the breakfast was disgusting, there were dirty plates and cups left on the tables . The tables were dirty .
Allison L — Google review
This was the most disappointing place I have ever visited. It was Saturday around 11am and the first sign we saw was that there was no hot food apart from breakfast being served. We went to the counter where there is a display of basically yesterday’s leftover cupcakes and cake. There were no croissants, no tea cakes, no scones in fact no nothing. When we were eventually served we asked the cashier at the counter whether they had any croissants to be told “we had some yesterday”. Really useful. So we ordered two coffees and the money was taken but no coffee came, we were told we had to serve ourselves from the automated coffee machine where we could enjoy unlimited drinks. Brilliant except there were no cups. I queued again to ask but was told to take a seat whilst she took breakfasts out the tables (I counted 8 tables with in total 15 people at them). We waited and waited so I queued again to ask for the cups. Finally they came out but they were not brought over and I had to wait for it……queue again to pick them up. Then finally when I got there I couldn’t find any teaspoons. There were four members of staff behind that counter and there was zero organisation. I have worked in hospitality my whole life until a few years ago and trust me the whole place was shambolic with no attention to detail or pride in the cafe. I cannot ever imagine I will want to go back and Morrisons you need to take a long hard look at your food and beverage manager if you have one as this places gives the Morrison brand a bad name. I live in beccles and can assure you the service there is first class, hence our visit. Not all Morrisons are born equal.

The Lowestoft Maritime Museum, located in Suffolk, England, is a charming and award-winning museum dedicated to showcasing the rich maritime history of the region. Despite its small size, the museum boasts an extensive collection of maritime artifacts including medals awarded to Royal Navy and RNLI personnel, marine art, ship models in various scales, tools from Lowestoft's shipyards, and fishing paraphernalia.
This was a interesting visit as I also saw paper cuttings and a painting of one of my family members so I am very proud they are having these on display , very friendly and warm welcome 🙂

Excellent exhibits, very informative and friendly, knowledgeable volunteers. Well worth a visit , be prepared to easily spend a couple of hours here. Situated in Sparrows Nest Park so refreshments available at the cafes/restaurant. Ticket lasts all day so can easily view half the exhibition, get refreshments and then go back for remainder. Extremely good value for money.

Martellos is a fantastic spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast on a lazy Saturday morning. Renowned for its exceptional coffee, this establishment also offers a complimentary cup of joe along with their delectable full English breakfast if you make it there before 10am. From Martellos, you can admire the picturesque Sparrow's Nest Gardens located in the charming North Denes area of Lowestoft.
Really nice, seen a lot of squirrels and birds, and really a relaxing place to calm because you can hear the children playing in the park, tiny birds or any kind of birds chirping, and the wind blowing on the leafs and bushes, also very good to take pictures I have taken at this place, I always think it's a masterpiece, you can have a look for yourselves If you want! Recommend people visiting their with a good weather or in hot weather!

Wonderful area within town to explore as a newbie to Lowestoft! The icing on the cake is they have a bowls green to practice and stretch legs not to mention it being next to the sea for wonderful lungs of fresh air! Even the young folkwere well behaved although the smell of 'skunk' no doubt helped to mellow them. Best kept secret and will be my 'go-to' local place, along with Chinese & Indian restaurants!

I have been going here for years. It has a lovely grassed area for picnics or you could go for a nice walk around the gardens and even sit and watch the locals play bowls. There is a restaurant which serves lovely meals also there is a separate bar in the grounds as well as an enclosed childs play area with seating around it. A pond with a small fountain. The Maritime museum which is at one of the entrances and the War Memorial Museum that is inside the grounds. There are public toilets which are cleaned regularly. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend.

Italian restaurant
Giardino Bar and Grill offers a friendly and superb service, although the menu may not fully represent authentic Italian cuisine. The food quality varies, with excellent pizza but disappointing lasagne and mushy pasta. However, the halloumi is delicious while some items like dough balls have room for improvement. The staff are accommodating and attentive to all guests' needs, making it a great place for families or groups. Additionally, they provide an extensive selection of gluten-free options that impress diners.
My husband and I visited Giardino's to celebrate our wedding anniversary recently. This was our first time so we did not know what to expect. I had booked a table just in case it was busy, but luckily it wasn't. We were guided through the bar, down a few steps to the restaurant area and shown to our table. They gave us the menus and sufficient time to decide what we wanted. The room was large, square and spacious with plenty of tables, and there were windows and patio doors across one side of the room that opened up onto a patio area with a few picnic tables and a small pergola sheltering a large family-sized picnic table. I was getting a little uncomfortably warm in the room, so I politely asked if they could open one of the doors. The waiter wasn't sure, but went to ask other staff. Soon enough, two staff members came into the room and started moving the tables about that were set up next to the doors. They opened one of the doors and put a stand outside with a message asking the public not to come in that way, but to enter through the main door. I was very grateful that they were willing to go to all that trouble for me and I thanked them. We ordered drinks, our starters and our main courses, and it didn't take too long for them to arrive. My husband ordered a low alcohol cider and I had a Pinot Grigio white wine. We both chose the same starter....baked ravioli in breadcrumbs with a garlic dip, which we both thought was delicious! For the main course my husband chose lasagne (one of his favourite meals) and I chose a carbonara. I like to choose things that I don't usually have at home. When the meals were brought through they looked a good size, with slices of garlic bread on the side, they smelt great and were nice and hot. The waitress brought some grated parmesan cheese at my request, and we both added a nice amount to our meals. We tucked in...and wow..I was amazed at how tasty and creamy it was!! I absolutely loved it. My husband enjoyed his too!! Because we had arrived at 4pm and it was quiet, we were able to chat with no difficulty, which was nice. As we neared the end of our main courses, a few other people started arriving and took their seats but there were still plenty of empty tables and it didn't get very loud at all. We both ordered sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce for dessert, and yet again we were pleasantly surprised. Not too much and really tasty!! We had a lovely experience at Giardino's, and the staff who served us were very friendly and obliging. It would have been nice to see some Italian decor in the restaurant room and to hear some soft Italian music in the background to make our experience feel more authentic. Other than that, our evening was excellent; the food was fantastic, the prices were reasonable, and the environment was relaxing. We will definitely be back! 😀

Popped in on the off chance as very mixed reviews. We are a family of 4. Pizzas were absolutely delicious, burgers were amazing and baked chicken dish was great. No complaints. Great friendly service. Place was quiet but we ate early so might get busy later on. Lots of seating inside and out and great location.

Service was very fast and food had a good portion size and was very tasty. The website booking system has problems and lead to us having to rebook however the food was worth the days wait extra. I recommend phoning in to book first.

Sat outside on the patio as we had our dog with us. Not busy, surprisingly as it was Saturday!,so no problem finding a table. Unfortunately it didn't look as though the area had been swept for weeks, many cigarette end everywhere. Ordered burgers for both of us. Waited an hour for food to arrive. The burger was very overcooked and dry, the bun was over toasted, rather dark and crisp on the bottom. Crispy fries, but tasted of old oil. Won't eat there again!
Susan R — Google review
Really nice restaurant in a good location. Plenty of parking and a short stroll from the main road. This was our first time, but thoroughly enjoyed our food and the ambience, which was relaxed and quiet. I had the burger which was properly cooked and not cremated. Seasoned well in a brioche bun. Chips were nice and crispy. Don't order an extra portion as we did as you get plenty with your meal. My wife had the carbonara, which she loved. Got a full bowl, which was a bit too much for her, but she thoroughly enjoyed it. Prices were reasonable for the portion sizes and the quality of the food. The staff were very friendly and professional. They always made sure we were ok and were quick with the food and drinks. I'm glad we went and will certainly be back. The only reason why we haven't scored Giardino 5 stars was the lack of Italian dishes. Yes, they had ravioli, pizza, carbonara, and calzones but I really fancied a good spaghetti Bolognese, which wasn't on the menu, hence why I went for the burger. Which didn't disappoint.
Daniel B — Google review
Ordered Doughballs then a Chicken burger. Made the order at 6:30, Doughballs arrived at 19:20. However.. do mind that the place stops serving at 8pm! The burger arrived at 19:50 🫤 Bone dry chicken, tasteless onion rings, average fries. Not worth the wait, but nice and pleasant start and good option of choices. Will come back to try the pizza.

Lovely carvery but avoid ordering from the menu unless you're willing to wait over an hour. Staff were friendly but the wait for the food, which is wetherspoons standard, was not really acceptable. Restaurant
The Norman Warrior is a charming real ale pub in Suffolk, offering a diverse menu and warm service. The establishment welcomes families and even allows well-behaved pets. Situated in a prime location with stunning views of the beach, it features both a restaurant and bar area. The seasonal menu, including unique items like dessert pizzas, is reasonably priced. While classic pub dishes are somewhat limited, the overall selection is satisfying.
The real ale, as always, was well kept and in top condition. The pub was busy with a nice atmosphere. I tried one of the pizzas from the menu. This is a new range so the first time I had one. I tried the Ham and Shroom. Really delicious and highly recommended. Most enjoyable evening.

One of the only proper pubs you'll find just outside of Oulton Broad. A really tasty full English breakfast and I've had a great Sunday roast here too. Great beers, nice staff and pool tables and a dart board.

Went in today it's minus one outside, there was a gentleman at the bar in gloves. Everone else sat in full winter coats. No radiators on, rude barstaff. One pound for a game of pool but only junior sized pool cues out of the eight to choose from. 0/10 would not recommend.

A really lovely pub. It’s well situated with ample parking, has a beer garden and the food is lovely, simple & easy but made with care, being the new local it’s a nice walk to and from and worth it just to pop in for a drink or some home comfort food. It’s a very quaint traditional pub, but friendly staff, food is lovely and fab prices. It has two pool tables, dart board and a couple of games machines so more than enough, it’s usually busy around the afternoon early evening but before or after that you could comfortably sit and work/ eat/ relax etc. There is also a small book area where you can exchange books and I understand they have events throughout the year so will come back and update when I’ve experienced these. Put it this way, your Grandma would be happy and I can recommend the spotted duck dessert!

Very nice pub that's split in half (half restaurant, half bar). Seasonal menu, pizza menu (including dessert pizzas) and a specials board all fairly priced. Would have loved to see some more pub classics on the menu though like gammon egg and chips, however their selection is good and will please most hungry folk! Had Garlic mushrooms and battered cauliflower to start, scampi + fish and chips for main and a very nice apple crumble for dessert. Pleasant experience and good service. No cocktails available in the menu though, please implement some! Would come more often! We went on a Thursday night. Completely empty and we dined for 1 1/2 hours and had the place to ourselves. Had a nice intimate evening not having to talk over other people, would reccomend. Note that their kitchen is shut on Mon + Tues tho

What more could we ask for. Thanks Shaun, we appreciated everything you arranged for us and for the staff being so kind and helpful.

Dukes Head Somerleyton is a charming pub with a short, seasonal menu that ensures fresh, high-quality food. Visitors can enjoy dishes like chicken croquettes, hand-cut fries, grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, Mackerel fillets, smoked haddock chowder, Rib-eye steak, and chicken supreme. The establishment prides itself on freshly made meals that are not from the freezer. Guests appreciate the excellent wine list and friendly service.

We booked in on New Year’s Eve and had a great time. The food was really good. The atmosphere was great as was the service. Not far from home so I’m sure we’ll be back.

First visit and it won't be the last, really quiet outside, plenty of room inside and outside to eat, good sized car park, staff are really friendly and efficient, we both had the fish finger sandwich on the small plate menu it was really good but it would have been nice on a hot day to have had salads and cold sandwiches for a better choice on a hot day but I know they can't please everyone

Me and an old friend came here more than a few times to dine, however, the food we received on one of our visits is the food photographed, also, there looks like a finger mark in the gravy, (ew) not to mention how burnt the food looks, I may come back in the near future, and request that the meal I am paying for, be up to standard, as £60 something for this and a starter with the state of it, is not up to a good food standard as the pictures prove, 1 carrot, 1 piece of broccoli, and where is the meat? and I am sure when other people see these photos they will not want there Sunday dinner to look like that? The cauliflower cheese was burnt also, perhaps I’ll give this restaurant a go in the near future, and politely request I receive the meal I am paying for, so I may eat and leave no crumbs 😊

Hard to give a 5* review after one visit but this place deserves it. Off the beaten track but well worth the effort to get to, the place is immaculate inside and out, staff were very welcoming and friendly and the food was tremendous. Plenty of space to sit outside with the dog and tables were not on top of each other. Decent selection of beers and wines, proper posh toilets as well. The kind of pub that makes you wish you lived within walking distance so you could call it your local

We came upon The Dukes Head on a windy rainy day on the river not knowing what to expect, we had our dog with us and we were soaked through and welcomed warmly and had two lovely meals a burger and Chicken Supreme and I have to say it was supreme indeed, followed by two bread and butter puddings that were so indulgent. The two ladies who served us were really friendly and filled up our drinking water bottle for the boat. The whole experience was a pleasure.

Perfect place for Sunday Dinner. The service was excellent. Food delicious particularly the beef and Yorkshire pudding. Atmosphere was pleasant with an outdoor area for children to play. You can sit inside or out in the garden
