Fort Henry National Historic Site is a captivating glimpse into 19th-century military life, nestled at the confluence of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. This restored British fortification, built between 1832 and 1840, showcases impressive limestone structures that served as a defensive stronghold. Visitors can immerse themselves in history through guided tours or explore independently while enjoying engaging daily activities like flag ceremonies, cannon firings, and musical performances.
A very well maintained national historic site to learn about Canadian history and its military past. We spent around a couple of hours exploring the fort thoroughly. There are several restaurants, cafés, and a collectibles shop inside the fort. Along with the historic structures, everyday items from the past, and specific sections dedicated to different purposes, visitors can also enjoy live performances and drills. They’re informative and interesting to experience. Though we didn’t opt for it, one can also sign up for archery and rifle classes, which look very interesting. Even though it was a public holiday, finding a parking spot wasn’t an issue for us. And the views from the top are fantastic too!

Fabulous place to head up to watch the sunset. We went on the haunted walk at night which was relatively cool except we had a young person as part of the tour maybe 10 or 11 years old who didn't follow any of the rules repeatedly made noise and Flash their flashlight which really ruined the ambience and the parents weren't doing much about it. Lots of cool spiders though!
Julia W — Google review
Good place for half day trip. Although, entry ticket is high compared to fort size and being national heritage size. Many restaurants inside the fort. Fort itself is well maintained and you can get free tour guide who explains different areas. Good collection of old guns, swords and some old cannons. Actors performing soldiers are very good and take their parts very active and seriously. They have good performances going on entire day which includes canon firing and gun firings. Overall good walk around the fort.
Nihar — Google review
Amazing history and a wonderful tour! We watched the guards marching and rehearsing, and they demonstrated the use of musical instruments, signals, and drums — we even had a chance to play the drums ourselves. The guards also demonstrated the firing of guns. The fort has many rooms on display, and the gift shop offers freshly baked bread from an on‑site oven. It was a very educational and memorable experience!
Judy H — Google review
Fort Henry was such a cool experience! The historic atmosphere, the costumed guides, and the live demonstrations (like the cannon firing and marching) really brought history to life. Great views over the lake and Kingston too. It’s fun for both adults and kids – especially the museum section and the tunnels. Totally worth the visit if you're anywhere near Kingston!
Amir K — Google review
A fantastic experience that is well worth the visit. Tickets are a little pricy but its made up for with fantastic staff that are all very knowledgeable about the fort and the history of it plus the live drills they perform. On top of this the views offered from the fort are breathtaking. I'd argue this is thee place to visit for anything historical about Kingston if you only had one place you could visit, this would be the one I would choose hands down.
Patrick B — Google review
To be fair before I begin, when we visited we were in the middle of a crazy hot period in the summer (heat warnings were in place) and a lot of Fort Henry is open and exposed, so our enjoyment may have been muted a little bit. Aside from the heat however, the tour and experience was very satisfying. The guided tour was somewhat informative although our guide seemed a little newer as he didn’t have answers for all questions asked. The costumed staff were a nice touch, however more context on who they were or what their function was during the period was would have been nice. Bistro and shops seemed out of place and not fitting with the historical significance of the Fort which detracted from the visit. More information and context would have been nice.
Eric C — Google review
This was first time back at Fort Henry since I was a kid back in 1996. The fort still looks the same. This was also my family’s first time visiting. We did the guided tour & the guide was a young lady who I can’t remember her name was so very knowledgeable, took time explaining everything in simple terms for the kids to understand. Only downside was the group was very large so it was a bit hard to hear her voice & see some of the places inside the fort. The canon firing was awesome to see & so was the other demonstrations & the final drum parade was amazing. One other thing the guide or the ticket agent didn’t mention was to stay off the canons so don’t climb on them or you will get yelled at by the staff as it happened to a few people.

Slush Puppie Place is a vibrant venue that offers an array of entertainment options, making it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. This lively spot hosts various events, including concerts and engaging talks featuring notable personalities. It also serves as the home ground for local sports teams, providing fans with an exciting atmosphere to cheer on their favorites. The spacious layout ensures that large crowds can comfortably gather, whether it's for a thrilling hockey game or a memorable concert experience.
My inaugural visit to this arena in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, was truly unforgettable. It was a highly exhilarating and enjoyable evening spent sharing a fantastic game with friends and families of Lifestyle Home Products.

It's a bit pricey but a ton of fun. The facility is great and hockey lives here. We had a great time there tonight. They did a great job entertaining us. I definitely recommend going. This is exciting hockey!
Brian S — Google review
The AC here is excellent, which makes watching a game very comfortable, especially on hot days. The arena is well maintained and clean, and the staff are always kind and professional, which really adds to the experience. The only drawback is that the seating feels quite small and close together, so it can get a bit cramped during busy events. Overall, though, it’s a solid venue with great atmosphere, friendly service, and everything kept in good shape.
Dantheman R — Google review
Seen 5440 and Foreigner.. the show was good. Didn't enjoy that there is no on site parking. The seats are so hard and uncomfortable. Drinks and food...overpriced for whats offered.

Managing Type 1 Diabetes for a 5-year-old is challenging, and constant access to water and food is essential for his safety. Despite his backpack being filled with medical supplies and clearly marked with medical alert tags, staff required us to dump his water at the door. Their suggestion to refill it inside is not acceptable in a medical situation where immediate access is critical. Denying basic medical accommodations puts people at risk, and the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA take precedence over any venue policy. I hope management reviews this and improves staff training on medical accessibility.
Tyler B — Google review
What a great place to watch a comedian, hockey 🏒 or a concert. This was an amazing experience with Jim Jefferies as one of my favorite comedians in a smaller venue than going to Toronto or Ottawa 💯. The new arena is amazing compared to what I grew up watching the Kingston Generals as a kid. Great place to watch anyone without going to a major city, and it's a beautiful town. I highly recommend giving this place and town a try 💯.

Park
Confederation Park, situated in the heart of downtown Kingston, is a popular spot known for its beautifully landscaped gardens, fountains, and sculptures. It offers stunning views of the Kingston Harbour and is adjacent to the waterfront. The park provides an excellent setting for picnics and leisurely walks along the waterfront path.
Its a small clean beautiful park. Fountain is really beautiful. Kids loved the train engine and other sculptures. They have washrooms and a very nice looking souvenirs shop. Park itself is relatively small, but good for a short walk looking at the dock.
Nidaie — Google review
Very clean and scenic park in the waterfront area of Kingston Ontario. You are close to many restaurants and tourist attractions like lake cruises of a variety of sorts. The city makes many efforts to maintain this park and the main fountain is great for pictures

Large open space by the water with cool monuments nearby, such as the Martello towers, old Kingston train station, and city hall.
Thomas D — Google review
Pretty busy even on a Monday at the end of May. Paid parking. Public washrooms. Probably at the noon, the light was not perfect for photos. The Confederation park is pretty small, but there is a long trail along the shore. The lake view was beautiful.
Patrick X — Google review
Nice park at the end of Princess St with a waterfront facing Lake Ontario. It’s also located directly across from the City Hall, providing interesting contrasting views from different angles. Nice!
May L — Google review
The Confederation park is a very nice park along Lake Ontario in Kingston to go for a walk, have a picnic or just sit relax and enjoy looking out at the lake. In this park there is also few other attractions such as a historical train and a very nice historical fountain that has a arch as well and lights up at night. I would definitely spend more time exploring and walking around this park and the lake front if the am back in Kingston again
DH — Google review
A very cute park by the water front near city hall. There are a few landmarks worth exploring including the train engine. Public washroom is available and open as of July 3rd. We happen to also come across a live band playing upbeat music from the current generation.

For those who prefer traditional tours, options include the 1.5-hour Jewels of the St.
We had such a wonderful time celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary last night. Dylan (our server) was so amazing. He was seriously the best server we have ever had. We wish him the best of luck when he returns to BC for his studies. It truly was an amazing night on our Sunset cruise. This was our second time and it was the best so far!!

Took the 1000 Islands Dinner Cruise recently—great overall experience, but a few things to keep in mind. I was disappointed not to get a window table. Apparently, there is a premium upgrade for those, but it wasn’t offered to me—possibly because I was traveling solo. Still, it would’ve been nice to have the option, especially when scenic views are a big part of the experience. Doug, our guide and onboard entertainment, was excellent—fun facts, quirky island stories, and even real estate tips on the incredible homes we sailed past. He kept things engaging and light throughout the evening. The 3-course meal was solid: • Salad was fresh and simple—arugula, cranberries, feta. • Braised short rib was nicely presented and tasty, though the carrots were so undercooked they nearly qualified as raw. Knife said “nope.” • Cheesecake for dessert—classic and very tasty. Craft beer selection was a nice surprise, and the pre-meal bread and butter hit the spot. The air conditioning was intense—I had to wear my jacket during lunch, and some guests used menus to block the vents. Pro tip: layer up. Big plus: the upper deck is perfect for photos and catching views if you’re not lucky enough to sit by the window. Would I do it again? Maybe! Especially to impress a guest. But next time I’d definitely request the window table upgrade, go for the fancier appetizer, and share a nice bottle of wine.

Amazing cruise, lots of history and great views. 3hr cruise is worth it. Staff are very friendly. Go early to line up for cruise to get a good seat upstairs. Boat has lots of steps, main level has seating and no steps. Boat has a mc + music sharing facts about surrounding areas.

My partner and I went on the 3-hour 1000 Islands lunch cruise aboard the Island Queen ship from Kingston, and we had such a great time! The entire experience was smooth, scenic, and so well organized. We booked the option that includes a 3-course lunch, and as vegans (plant-based diet), we were honestly impressed by the quality and thoughtfulness of the menu. We started with a fresh salad, followed by a delicious main dish with cabbage and black beans, and ended with a rich vegan chocolate dessert that was just perfect. Our server, Jack, made us feel super welcome and taken care of the entire time. Lunch is served on the second deck with reserved seating, we had a lovely window spot, which made the views even better. There was also live music on the first floor. One of the highlights for us was the tour guide, David More. He’s a fantastic storyteller and so knowledgeable about the region. We were lucky to be seated close to him and could follow along as he shared fascinating stories about the islands, their history, and the families that once lived (or still live!) there. He's also a writer and had some of his books onboard, we even picked one up! The time flew by, especially when we got near Gananoque, cruising through clusters of islands dotted with cabins, mansions, and cottages. I’d 100% recommend this tour, whether you're visiting Kingston or live nearby, it’s a fun, delicious, and enriching way to spend an afternoon. You won’t notice the hours go by!
Julieta C — Google review
It was a nice experience. Ywo decks. Two small kiosks are available on each deck, serving snacks and beverages. Of course, at an extra cost. The attendants were pleasant to taking orders and serving. The tour was for three hours, which was a bit of a stretch. After an hour and a half, guests started talking amongst themselves. No one was paying much attention to the voice-over narration or seeing outside of the boat. Two hours should be more than enough.
Shaik R — Google review
For best views, go on the top deck. The upper right bench is the best 👌 That was a wonderful 3-hour guided tour ❤️ The 1000 islands are amazing.
Muhsinah S — Google review
I've been on 3 cruises this summer using my Kingston Residents Pass, the 3 hr Heart of the Islands tour, the shipwreck tour and the 1 hr discovery tour. The 3 hr tour and 1 hr tours were both great, the shipwreck one was a waste of time. The 3hr tour takes you through alot of the 1000 Islands, up to Gananoque and back to Kingston, you see a lot of private islands and cottages as well the Kingston harbour. Very relaxed and lovely. One hr tour was mostly focused in the area close to Kingston, this tour was more busy but definitely still good. Not quite as good as the 3 hr tour but if this is all the time you can afford, it's still worth it. The shipwreck tour was the worst out of the 3. It was a very similar route to the 1 hour tour and we assumed we'd be able to see shipwrecks, but you can't. You don't get close to most of them and some you bypass completely. Maybe it was silly of me to think I could see a shipwreck from above the water but I guess that's what comes with calling it a Shipwreck cruise. They have someone from a museum doing the talking and she seemed quite knowledgeable but they relied heavily on the use of pre recorded videos of dives, which I saw absolutely none of. The cruise was busy and I was unable to get a seat in view of the tv screen, which depending on how the sunlight is hitting it or the numerous technical difficulties they were having, wouldn't have been able to see much anyway. I'm glad I didn't pay for it due to my residents pass but I definitely felt bad for the tourists I was speaking with who did. So to sum up- both the 3 hour or 1 hour sightseeing cruises were good and worth it, but don't bother with the shipwreck cruise, unless you're just happy to be on the water on a small ship, which is still pleasant in itself.

Lone Star Texas Grill is a delightful destination for those craving a taste of the Southwest. From sizzling fajitas to hearty burgers, every meal is crafted with care and bursting with flavor. The staff at Lone Star Texas Grill are always eager to make your dining experience enjoyable, ensuring you feel welcomed from the moment you arrive.
Overnighted in Kingston yesterday, on Superbowl Sunday. Thought we were unlikely to find a decent spot for drinks and some dinner, then we found Lone Star taking 7PM reservations on Open Table. The place was perfect, with lots happening, fun crowd, tons of televisions, good music, amazing margaritas!...and we had the steak/chicken Dos fajitas, fried mozzarella sticks, and churros for dessert. The staff were great! We landed at the best spot in town, ate well, and soaked up enough margaritas to warrant a UBER. a fun spot for dinner/ drinks. Definitely recommend.

pleasantly surprised by this place. prices are steep but the food is decent, I had the chicken fajitas. the free chips and salsa is a nice touch too. our server was great too, he had a good sense of humour and looked like he knew what he was doing. i don't know why it was so hard to get drinks though, never got asked for a refill and it took at least 15 mins to get one once i asked. overall a great night out though.

Had the grilled chicken & avocado salad—tasty, big portions, a bit pricey ($29 + $4). Patio was awesome and super central. We were 8 people, enjoyed a few drinks and a great meal!

My family and I had lunch for Father's day here! There is a parking lot across the street (paid). The food was amazing. The music at the right volume where you can enjoy and still have a conversation comfortablely. The service was exceptional 👏. The drinks were fine. My husband really enjoyed the ribs. The patio dining at the back was lovely. We will come again when in Kingston.

I'm not one to write reviews for restaurants. Usually I just eat and go. However, I've never felt more welcome here! The food is cooked to perfection, and you're given a lot of it for a cheap price. To add onto that, the waiters are incredibly attentive and polite (Props to Savannah.) The wait for tables could be long, but that isn't at all an issue because of the reward. Absolutely amazing. Would recommend :D
Marie — Google review
Server and hostess was incredibly nice. Initially confused patio for margaritaville but they very kindly explained to us where it is located. There is complimentary chips and salsa which are decent in quality. There was a bit of a wait between ordering and apps but it was a busy night. Mozzarella squares were hot and freshly breaded, with a light ranch sauce. They were the best mozzarella squares i have ever had. The anojitos were also very good; stuffed with cream cheese. Waitress came to check on us during apps which I have never seen before. Usually I’m only checked on during mains. Very courteous and hospitable. The drinks were also very good. Tried the Lone Star Lime Margarita; very tangy and not too sweet. Would order again. Got a smash burger with seasonal vegetables. Broccoli was very buttery and tasted fresh to me at least. Was cooked exactly how I like my broccoli. My burger however was interesting to say the least. It was as juicy and cheesy as I would have hoped, with some crispy cheese “leather” at the edges. However, I am sad to report that the burger was not a true smash burger. A true smash burger is smashed thinner than that at lone star grill, with lattices at the edges. I believe lone star grill should remand their marketing and rename their “smash burger section” to simply a burger section. Other than that, food was well received and portions were massive. Fries were also thin and crispy which is always recommended. Overall would come again and will likely sample their Mexican faire. Special shout out to our server whose name I did not catch, but she had denim shorts, nose ring and sunglasses on top of her head with long medium brown hair, working Sunday night. She should def receive some reward from management for her good work tonight.

The venue features live music, theme nights, and a popular outdoor patio for warmer evenings. Craft Addict Thursdays showcase local craft beer and live music. Food was tasty pub fare. Service was excellent. Sitting on the patio is nice...not sure what was going on inside though. Looked a little disorganized but maybe they're doing something to rearrange or redo? Either way, decent place!

We spent our time in the bar area, and the live music band was pretty awesome! The only downside was that they only served large-sized beers, but I still really enjoyed the atmosphere. The female bartender was fantastic—friendly, professional, and added a great vibe to the place.

We were walking the waterfront and decided to eat lunch here. We shared the Octoberfest German braised meatball appetizer and the Guinness Steak and Mushroom Pie. We had martinis (we had to have them remake the first one as they made it with pickle juice) and hard cider. The Waitress had a NY city attitude but took good care of us.

Very cool spot. Live music was great, room for dancing, food was decent (end of the night stop after a bachelorette party so we were up for just about anything to eat) I ordered the poutine, and it was a touch salty but loads of cheese curds!!

This place has really lost its charm over the past five years. It used to be one of the best spots in Kingston, but sadly, that’s no longer the case. The Tir Nan Og was once a warm and welcoming place — now it feels cold, impersonal, and pretentious. I’ve given it several chances, hoping things might improve, but every visit ends in disappointment. The only thing that still stands out is the beautiful historic building and the memories of how great it once was. Unfortunately, the men’s restroom smells strongly of urine — so much so that the odor carries into the hallway. As a gay man, I used to feel comfortable and accepted here, but that sense of belonging has disappeared. What was once an inclusive and lively space now feels hollow. The staff come across as inflated with ego and disinterest, treating customers as an inconvenience rather than guests. It’s no surprise the place is often nearly empty. I can only hope that one day this establishment changes ownership and regains the warmth, hospitality, and charm it once had.

The time between sitting down, getting water and menus, and ordering was maybe 15 minutes. Food came out quickly and was piping hot. Excellent. The food was very good. Generous portions and reasonable price. For desert, try the tiramisu. It is really good. Overall a great experience, deserving of the many 5 star reviews.

Great location. Very nice atmosphere. Great wine list and menu. We ordered wine, appetizers and we all had the most amazing meals. Everything was so well prepared, hot, perfectly seasoned and presented. The only feedback for management would be share that our server (curly, strawberry blonde hair) was super slow and inattentive. We would have ordered more food, wine and desert if we were prepared to have waited for her to return to our table. If you care about your business, she needs some direction to take care of your customers and increase the revenue from each table served.

My husband and I went to Casa for the first time and celebrated our seven year anniversary. The server was so lovely. She congratulated us and even gave us complimentary dessert, which was to die for! For dinner, my husband ordered the lasagna di Casa and I ordered the penne alla vodka. We both agreed that the lasagna was better. Both desserts pictured (tiramisu and semifreddo) were SO good. We recommend both of them. Aside from that, the restaurant has a nice ambiance. It wasn’t too loud. The lighting was nice and dim and gave a romantic feel.

With a trendy-yet-casual atmosphere, good food and drinks, tasty desserts, and efficient service, Casa Domenico is a solid restaurant that did things right in an area chock-full of other options. Casa Domenico was recommended to us by a staff member working at another top-rated restaurant in Kingston. After dining at Casa Domenico on July 6, 2025, it's easy to understand why someone in the industry sees this place as a worthy competitor. We attended on a Sunday evening at 7 p.m. The place was full (dining room and patio). We made reservations a few days earlier, so it wasn't a problem and we were seated promptly. The vibe felt busy, lively and trendy. It wasn't cozy or romantic at this particular hour, but clearly was a good place for a light-hearted get-together or date night. There were groups of friends, families, a few couples. The tables were close to each other. It was loud in the dining room, but in a good way and we could still talk (just not too privately). Most people were dressed casually but nicely, as if for a date night, with only a few of those guys who inevitably show up to mar the scene incongruously dressed in overly casual attire and ballcaps. (*Calling Tony Soprano; cleanup at table 7, please.*) Initially, our server was in efficiency mode; a good way to be on a busy night. When things eventually quieted down, she had time to enagage with us and did so charmingly. We were impressed with her pleasantness, professionalism and attentiveness throughout dinner. We had lasagna, as well as ravioli. It was a hefty portion of lasagna, and was quite tasty and satisfying. The ravioli was exquisite; smoked mozzarella stuffing, served with a delicious mix of smoked bacon, roasted mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, spinach, with a lemon brown butter sauce and parmesan cheese. Every bite was delightful, especially when all the ingredients were combined on the fork. The desserts were excellent. We had a hazelnut semi-fredo, as well as a unique lemon tiramisu. The lemon tiramisu was a refreshing and delicious take on the cake, and a rather very pleasant surprise. After too many tiramisus at too many Italian restaurants, this one stands out as truly memorable and, quite literally, worth writing about. Both desserts were a perfect way to conclude the meal, and so engrossing that we forgot to take pictures of them. All in all, a very good dining experience. We'd like to try it again when it's a little less busy. But for a restaurant, busy is a good thing and means they're doing it right.

Our first time going to Casa Domenico, it won't be our last. We had reserved a table and it was a beautiful late afternoon so we decided to eat on the patio. Inside looked very charming with the old limestone walls. Our server was Elijah and he was extremely knowledgeable about all the food on the menu and a great table presence. We stared off with house made bread and oil and beef salumi with marscapone and capers, also PEI mussels. Sooo yummy. We also had two mock cocktsils that were delicious. Our mains were lamb chops with fingerling potatoes with Parmigiano on top. Cooked to perfection. The veal chop Parmigiano with spaghetti ailio was incredible. So many flavors in each bite of our food. Tiramisu and hazelnut ice cream for dessert, scrumptious, and delightful cappuccino. Over all a great dining experience and we highly recommend you try Casa Domenico.

Today is thanksgiving. I am at your front door and realized that the restaurant is closed. I made a reservation through your web site last night after your business hours. It allowed me to book successfully. No notice on your web site. No notice on Google map. I drove all the way here, paid for the parking. You guys should have done a better job about this. How hard for you guys to update the hours on Google or just a short notice on your company web site?

Red House is a new upscale pub in downtown Kingston featuring local craft beers and locally sourced sandwiches & entrees. It has a heritage vibe, offering warm and inviting booths, a long bar, and tables down the centre. If you're looking for a cool place with good vibes then Red House is perfect - loved by Eric generally but usually ended up getting good food too!
Great experience, food was outstanding - the seared tuna was out of this world - with a great choice of beers! Service was awesome with great knowledge and big smile (Thanks Michael) Strongly Recommend !!!

Upon our arrival in Kingston we decided to eat at this place because it had good reviews, but unfortunately our experience was not what we expected. We ordered some burgers which honestly had no flavor, they just tasted greasy and the flavored beer I ordered tasted like cough medicine. The only good thing was the service from our waitress who was really kind and attentive.

Went for dinner with the wife today, while visiting Kingston Ontario. Even though parking was hard to find at first the experience was worth it. The portions you receive here is alot more than I would've expected and the food is very mouth watering, like on another level. We over ordered cause we didn't know the portions were going to be that big. At the end of it all we ended up spending about 150$ which included at 25$ tip. Here's what we ordered: *Blackberry Mint Fizz (a great fizzy drink for the non alcoholics) *Chicken Bites (great app with a great portion size) *Parm Ranch Fries (recommend for anyone who likes/loves parm. These fries are addictive) *Kimchi Fries (This was something completely new for me but tasted great, would recommend) *Veal Tomahawk Steak (mouth watering, melting in your mouth with a blast of flavor I'm sure you've never tasted before. Highly recommend, anything between medium rare to medium well) *Seared Rare Tuna (delicious with the blend of flavor from the fried rice and seasonings. Would recommend as well, hands down)

Ended up stumbling upon this restaurant after a few others in the area seemed not our style. The food was amazing and the bartender (Justin) was extremely personable and kind. Highly recommend the cauliflower appetizer and the Brussel sprouts as a side. Food was amazing.

Awesome night and meal at the Red House. We had the soup of the day, gaspacho, which was amazing, and the pork belly. Then we enjoyed the special of the day, Alfredo pasta with salmon, as well as the chicken club. Everything was so good!

We were here on a Tuesday about 630pm so it was quiet. Everyone enjoyed their meals, club sandwiches, pulled pork and veggie smash burger. I had a local beer, Patron IPA and it was great! The fries were great, we all tried some! One of our party ordered them based on the smell from the next table. Danielle our server was very friendly and helpful, received our order by memory and it was accurate, closed our tabs for us and assured us we were able to stay and she was nearby if we wanted anything further 👍

Worst burger meat I've ever seen, dry and stale, like it was microwaved twice, and it SMELLED. Stale bun, soggy fries. And the waitress had such attitude taking it back to the kitchen. Will never go back.
Keyon P — Google review
We stopped by the red house for dinner and had the arugula and goat cheese salad, the house burger and the veggie lasagna. The salad was pretty good. The combo of spicy arugula with goat cheese and a sweet praline topping is hard to get wrong. The salad is available in two sizes - the side size and a meal size. We got the meal size which is not going to fill most people up. However the quality is decent. The house burger was good but a tad on the salty side for me. The bun is excellent and soft. The stand out for me were the fries. They seemed fresh cut and crispy, with the skins on. The basil aioli is special. The only miss for me.is that the entire meal is on the salty side, which is alright for a pub meal with alcoholic drinks. The veggie lasagna was on the drier side, which didn't require the two large pieces of bread with it. The lasagna was also not reheated properly all the way through which was disappointing. Overall, we were pretty hungry and the meals were fine. I remember the food experience being a lot better in the past.

The Friends of the Penitentiary Museum are committed to preserving and interpreting Canada's federal penitentiary system's captivating history.
What a great tour and learning experience. Our guide on August 25th 2025 at 2 pm for the extended tour, was absolutely amazing. She’s been there for 7 months and knew so much information and was able to answer so many questions. So professional and so friendly. She even took the time to explain certain areas which were not available for tourists. Do the extended tour much more to see. Definitely worth it!!!

We signed up for the 1.5 hour tour and had Adam as our tour guide. He was outstanding…enthusiastic, informative, inclusive and engaging. Loved his stories. A perfect voice for a tour guide and so glad that he addressed some of the injustices related to the correctional system of Canada, particularly related to the Indigenous population and those with mental health issues. The four former staff who shared a little about their experience were intriguing…Erich we had longer with them. The tour felt a little rushed…perhaps it should be a two-hour tour. People had to move quickly to keep up. There wasn’t really time for questions of either Adam or the former staff. We also wish we had made time to visit the museum across the road first as it would have enhanced the experience. It is free (donation requested). I also think that it would be good if the organization that runs this experience would have some exhibits to look at or a video…outlining the history of the correction system and how it evolved over the period the penitentiary was open, up until today. Maybe even have a section about how countries all over the world address crime, imprisonment and rehabilitation. It would really help inform the general public about these important topics.

The Express Tour was amazing, the 45 minutes just flew by. After seeing the size of the compound and all the different buildings I'm getting the longer tours would be even better; something to do on my next visit. Our guide Julian and the other security guard (unsure of his name) were both really friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with. If you're interested in the history or location then this is certainly something you shouldn't pass up. Had a great time.

As a former Correctional Officer, I was very interested to see this iconic piece of Canadian history first hand. The tour was excellent as our guide was very knowledgeable. We also spoke with several Correctional Officers who actually worked here. They had interesting stories to tell and were happy to answer our many questions. This tour is a must-see if you are ever in Kingston!

I had the pleasure of attending the extended tour guided by Adam. He was incredibly knowledgeable and very humorous, making the experience more interesting but also light-hearted. As someone that grew up in the area and had relatives that worked in KP as well as surrounding penitentiarys, it was really amazing to walk the grounds and hear more indepth recounts. I will definitely recommend 👌

A very meaningful tour that is both educational and insightful. It offers a fascinating look into the history of the Kingston Penitentiary while also encouraging visitors to reflect on the past and its connections to the present. Highly recommended. We took the standard tour that the majority of tourists do. Our tour guide Allan is a very humorous and educational person that made the tour even more enjoyable.

I highly recommend the Kingston Penitentiary tour! We opted to take the 1.5-hour tour with our guide, William, and the experience was both fascinating and well-planned. A major highlight for me was discovering how accessible the entire tour is. I use a mobility scooter and had no trouble navigating around the various buildings. The convenience of nearby, free accessible parking was also a huge plus. William was a phenomenal guide, full of information and great stories. What made the tour even more special was meeting former prison guards who shared their firsthand experiences, adding a layer of authenticity you can't get from a textbook.

Good tour with many former correctional officer's offering insight of this former prison. The guides we're friendly and helpful. I wish there was more to see with the standard tour like the other levels of the prison pr in the guaranteed tower to really showcase life as a correctional officer.

Awesome park! We came on a Friday morning and it was pretty empty. Lots of bugs and flies though!! Hard to walk through them but by the water there is less and it’s so peaceful. :) washrooms also were great and included showers and a huge sink!

Lake Ontario has beautiful views throughout the year. In the summer, you can see its blue waters and sandy beaches. In autumn, the colorful leaves create a stunning sight. In winter, the frozen lake looks magical. It's a peaceful and lovely place to visit.

This is an absolutely gorgeous park to visit. It’s the perfect place to catch a sunset. There is plenty of parking. There is a children’s park near the parking lot. There are lots of little trails to walk on and benches to sit and enjoy nature. This place is good in the winter, but fantastic in the summer!

Beautiful kept park with Lake Ontario beach. There are sand box like area for kids to play in the sand near the water. You can go swimming as it's clear but it's rocky near the shore so if you have water shoes, it's best if you wear them. I am not sure if it's sandy after the rocks. The park area is kept clean and well maintained with a sheltered picnic and washroom area. There's one playground near the front of the park and new one near it with a splash pad as well. Best of two worlds.

Nestled in the heart of Kingston, the Kingston Grand Theatre stands as a vibrant testament to the city’s rich artistic heritage, boasting nearly 150 years of captivating performances. This historic venue has been a cornerstone of the local arts scene since its inception in 1902, hosting an impressive array of events that range from ballet and modern dance to theatre productions and comedy shows.
We have seen a few shows here recently and really enjoyed the venue and the entertainers. We've sat in various areas of the orchestra section and always had great views of the stage. Seats were comfortable. You can bring your drink to your seat.

I love this historic theatre venue. Staff are helpful and friendly. Seating is comfortable. I usually enjoy the shows except for the Tina Tribute. The lead was good but some members of the band were not even close to what the song should be especially the saxophone player. The back up dancing was basic and redundant. I hope the Grand screens the quality of the tribute shows more. I left at intermission.

Beautiful theatre, very helpful & friendly staff... & theatre seating is comfortable. Lounge areas offer wonderfully comfy seating as well, just wonder if there should be a little more of it. My husband and I attended the Gord Bamford concert last night. A lady in front of us wore too much perfume. My husband had to leave our seats as it causes him migraines. The staff was very understanding and ushered us to other seats. Luckily there were others to choose from. Perfumes are toxic to some people. I wish the Grand had a no scent policy so all could enjoy the events without getting sick. The ushers were terrific. Thanks to them it turned out to be a fabulous anniversary date.

Awful experience!!! Do NOT RECOMMEND this venue. James barker band and have staff harassing teenagers saying they are not allowed to video. Meanwhile James Barker band posted on their socials please upload videos and them. Having 3 women be relentless about not videoing. Appalling!!! 3 different reasons given. James barker band does not permit videoing. Manager said its the theatres policy, to it blocks peoples views. Its a concert !! I will NEVER return. The treatment was horrendous.

The Kingston Brewing Company, located at 34 Clarence Street, is a historic Canadian brewpub that offers a wide selection of Ontario beers and ciders. Housed in a building dating back to the 1800s, this establishment is known as the oldest brewpub in Ontario. With its cozy and funky decor, it provides an inviting atmosphere for patrons to enjoy their hearty menu and house-made beers on two spacious patios during warm summer months.
We sat on the patio and had a nice meal on Saturday. We had the crispy chicken sandwich and the small chicken Caesar salad, it was all very delicious and our service was very good. The waitress is also nice enough to let us bring our dogs as long as they were good boys, which of course they were.

I absolutely loved the interior decor—it was full of thoughtful details that gave the place a cozy, old Canadian vibe. The atmosphere felt warm and inviting right from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and always greeted us with genuine smiles, which made the experience even better. We also tried the chips and dip, and wow—the chips were homemade, incredibly fresh, crunchy, and absolutely delicious. As for the beers, they were fantastic! My favorite was the raspberry wheat—it had a wonderful fruity flavor that was both refreshing and satisfying. Overall, a great spot to relax, enjoy good food and drinks, and soak in the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be coming back!

For our first time in Kingston we wanted to find a good brew pub that we could go with our dog. The Kingston Brewing Cie came as highly rated . The place is actually great. We were seated in their Courtyard; it was cozy; and enough room for our dogs to lie down. We got some of their locally Made IPA and they were very good ! On that aspect; we were quite happy . On the food side however, it was disappointing for us. My crispy chicken sandwich had quite a side look with a bland mayo, and 3 pickle slices. And the batter on the chicken was just okay. My partner had their fish and chip, and she felt the batter tasted like old oil. It was overall underwhelming. Another table close to us shared their burger was good. Maybe we have been unlucky? YMWV.

We loved everything about our experience. We visited for a weeknight dinner in August. We sat outside in the back courtyard which is very picturesque and cozy. The building itself is old. The courtyard in the back is connected to the street via l an arch walkway through the building. They didn't have information on the building's history but I thought perhaps the courtyard in the back might have been stables at one time. Now there are pergolas, patio lights, Vines and plants. We tried the double dry IPA and really enjoyed it. The kids got chicken strips and fries. I got a breaded chicken sandwich and a salad and my husband got the chicken pot pie in a salad. All the food was really yummy. The service was also very good. We had two servers come to our table within just a few minutes of sitting down. And they were attentive throughout our meal. We did check out the inside before we ate and it's it has the feel of an English pub. There's lots of dark wood booths and interesting decor all around. I highly recommend to anyone in the area regardless if you're drinking the beer or not.

Pizzas are a family favourite with lots of types to choose from, made fresh with no chance of needing a doggy bag. Fish tacos are excellent, though sometimes it would be nice to have a little more fish. The spud fries are very good, as was the soup of the day, a veggie currie soup that was quite flavourful. We've been a few times and we will defo keep going back.

I'm from out of town, so I'm not sure how this restaurant compares to others in Kingston, but the Rustic Spud is pretty bland and not a 4.4 rating on my books. I went for lunch, and while the service and seating were warm and comfortable, the food was pretty bad for the price. Everything was under-seasoned, amateurish almost, except this "potato cake" which must have had 3 cloves of garlic for this shaped mashed potato dish to taste like garlic paste. I could go on, but there have to be better restaurants around, so only come here if you want drinks, and the neighbouring joints are full.

Great food, socially distanced indoor seating with sanitizer on your table helped this nervous person feel comfortable and enjoy my meal. The service was great, distanced where possible and masked. The entrance isn't fully accessible, there's a step, but if you can navigate that you're good otherwise

Friendly staff. Food was ok - I've been here twice before but this time I was a little disappointed. The drinks and appetizers came quickly but the mains seemed to take longer than usual. I had fish tacos. They were luke warm and the fish was a little dry. I've had this dish before and my experience was the opposite. My drink was great. The hostess and our server were very friendly and tended to our group's requests immediately. Everyone else felt the same - food not as good as usual but the service was.

The restaurant has been serving customers for nearly 25 years and offers a charming blend of rustic and modern aesthetics, creating a cozy yet refined ambiance. Their menu features a wide variety of artisanal wood-oven pizzas, from traditional Margherita to inventive creations like the Dynamo with smoked chicken and honey drizzle.
Tried this place many times over the years. I used to visit my daughter when she attended university here plus it is my half way stop to Montreal. This place never disappointed me over the years. Great pizzas and amazing service. Tried most pizzas plus specials. This restaurant has a cloning machine lol as servers look the same and sometimes I get confused to who is my server. Thank you for the great pies and amazing service!!

It’s so busy at Wooden Heads, and for good reason. The pizzas are the star of the show. I made my own this time with smoked muzz, onion, and mushroom, and it was fantastic. My wife had prosciutto and arugula. We split the beet salad, which was also wonderful. You can read other reviews on here about how great the crust and flavors are of all the pizzas, and I concur. This place was a hit twenty years ago when I first came, and remains wonderful today. Great place to take the parents if you’re a Queen’s student, great place to go with friends, just a fun atmosphere with delicious food.

Wow! Everyone at our table was completely satisfied with the food — not a single complaint! The staff were incredibly welcoming and genuinely caring, which made the whole experience even better. We ordered the pesto pizza with roasted garlic, pasta with mushrooms, and nut salads — and honestly, one was better than the other! Every dish was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. We absolutely loved everything and will definitely be coming back.

Let me start off with our bar tender was absolutely amazing!! Matt did a fabulous job, with drinks and food service and light conversation 😀. He also went out of his way when I noticed our appetizer had mango sauce on it (menu did not mention), and I have an allergy to mango. I asked to make sure it was, and he was able to give me a suggestion for something else. I also didn't think to mention the mango allergy since its not a normal thing with pizza. Regardless he was amazing and made sure the kitchen had coconut shrimp out in what felt like 2 mins. They were honestly the best coconut shrimp ever. Highly recommend! Our pizzas were also FIRE! I took the special which had sweet potato and chicken, and the other one slash off the menu. Both had such different flavours and textures it was heaven for our mouths. We will definitely be back, but next time booking a reservation... or not since it was fun at the bar!

Wooden Heads offers consistently good food with a creative menu that keeps people coming back. The wood-fired pizzas and fresh ingredients make for a memorable dining experience, and it's easy to see why it's a favourite spot in Kingston. That said, pricing does feel a bit on the high side for what you get, and the atmosphere can be quite loud. Smething to keep in mind if you're hoping for a quiet evening out. Given its popularity, reservations are highly recommended if you want to secure a table, especially on weekends. During our most recent visit, the service didn’t quite match the standard of the food. Our server was friendly but seemed stretched thin; we had to follow up more than once on requests to get them fulfilled. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it was noticeable. Overall, Wooden Heads is a solid choice for a night out, especially if you’re craving something flavorful and unique. Just be prepared for the lively ambiance. a And maybe a little patience with the service when it’s busy.

We made a reservation for 5pm on a Saturday - the place was busy so I'd recommend to make a reservation if you can. It's a bit loud inside, not because the music is too loud, but just from so many people talking in a small space. It didn't dampen our visit at all, but if youre looking for a quiet dinner out, this might not be the place for you. The tables are close together too, so it is impossible to have a somewhat private conversation. Again, not something that dampened our visit, but something that others might want to consider. Our server was Shannon and she was absolutely lovely. She was friendly and attentive. My husband ordered the Campagna pizza (pomodoro sauce, mozzarella, mushrooms and double smoked bacon, my son ordered the Classico (pomodoro sauce, mozzarella and pepperoni) and I went with our server Shannon's recommendation, which was the Milanese Bocca (breaded chicken with prosciutto and smoked mozzarella, with Calabrese cream sauce, and upgraded from roasted potatoes to the potato cake and it was the best decision! The boys loved their pizzas - it's clear they are made with fresh, quality ingredients and there wasn't even a speck of grease on their plates. The Milanese Bocca is quite possibly the best meal I've ever had at a restaurant. My son even helped me finish it after he was finished with his pizza and he just kept saying, "oh my god" after each bite - yes, it's that good! The chicken was perfect, it didn't taste or feel heavy like most fried chicken does, the potato cake was ahhhhhhhhmazing - so light and so flavourful, the calabrese cream sauce just pulled it all together perfectly. Thank you Shannon for the recommendation! We all agreed that we can't wait to come back and it will be our go to place for dinner everytime we visit Kingston.

While visiting the scenic downtown Kingston area we checked out this pizza restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was so good our waitress kept checking with us to make sure our drinks were always full and even offered to move us to the patio when it became available. But she was so nice we decided to stay at our table. The wood oven pizza was delicious and the prices were reasonable, I would totally recommend. If you are looking for the best pizza and service with reasonable pricing in Kingston was no further this is your place!!

If you're looking for a delightful dining experience in Kingston, Ontario, look no further than the Black Dog Tavern. My recent visit was nothing short of fantastic! The atmosphere is inviting, and the staff is incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient, ensuring that every aspect of your meal is enjoyable. One standout for us was the onion soup, which was rich and flavorful – truly a must-try! We paired it with their delicious hummus and crispy fried calamari, and we couldn't have been happier. For those with dietary restrictions, the Black Dog is a great spot for gluten-free options as well! We'll definitely be returning on our next trip to Kingston. Highly recommend this gem!

Dropped in to catch up with a friend and try a nice place to have a great light treat and some beverages. The charcuterie board was incredible. Not only a beautiful spread, but some incredibly fine selections to tantalize your palette. From that we could not resist the oysters, and we were not let down at all. Our host, Chris, presented the dishes and walked us through what was served with the culinary expertise you would expect at a high-end fine food restaurant, with the comfortably of being a friendly neighbor as well. Service, ambiance and quality were all exceptional. Highly recommended.

We decided to try this restaurant on a whim (walking by, no reservation). Delicious meal. Shared a plate of calamari as an appetizer. For the main, I had the North African Tagine and added shrimp (chicken and beef are available as add-one too), and my dining partner had the pan-fried trout. Both were generous portions. The desserts were very good. The service was very attentive and I enjoyed the restaurant. Highly recommend.

We found Black Dog Tavern by chance while walking around downtown Kingston — and were pleasantly surprised! The interior looks like a little museum: elegant, spotless, and beautifully designed. We were seated almost immediately and even offered complimentary Prosecco — such a nice touch! The food was excellent (especially the French toast), and the service was fast, friendly, and professional. Cozy atmosphere, comfortable noise level — perfect for a relaxed brunch. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!

Great experience having lunch by chance at The Black Dog Tavern. Quickly seated, and food came quite quickly as well. Both meals were great! Amazing flavours, good quantities, and served hot. Very reasonable pricing for quality of food. Definitely look forward to another visit down the road.

We came here for my birthday dinner and were super impressed with the service. Leah was our server and she was amazing. I have a ton of food allergies and she took amazing care of us. She made sure that everything was safe and even asked where my epi pens were just incase. She also communicated with us through out the dinner to make sure we knew that the kitchen staff were taking my allergies seriously. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. I would like to say a big thank you to Leah for the amazing experience she provided us with!

Great food and great atmosphere. We stopped in for lunch and had the fish and chips which was amazing. Plenty of seating, friendly service that was quick. Atmosphere is that of a bistro in Paris so expect lots of French jazz type music. Parking could be a bit of a gamble, it’s on street and you could end up parked right out front or a few blocks away.

Chinese takeaway
The chinese restaurant Kais Delight offers diners a wide range of meals, including soups, appetizers, Chop Suey, sweet and sour, beef, chicken, pork, seafood and noodles. The ingredients are sourced from the freshest suppliers and the chefs use only the best techniques to create mouth-watering dishes. All of the food is carefully prepared to give you a truly unique gastronomic experience.
First time trying this place, and definitely wasn't disappointed. Some of the best Chinese food we have ever tasted! We ordered the dinner for 4 with wonton soup added. The soup was delicious. From the rice to the chicken balls, to the beef, it was all great. No complaints on the food. As for service, very easy to order and pickup was very reasonable. They only do delivery and pickup. Will definitely be ordering from here again.
James B — Google review
This was the best Chinese take-out I have found in a very long time. Excellent food, service, experience overall, thank you 🙏🏻 the price is also fantastic for the portions, like holy cow!!! I’ll be (happily) eating this for days! Take out only, there is parking behind the building. If you haven’t tried this place please do yourself a favour and go.
Liv A — Google review
I didn't really enjoy my meal from this restaurant, it was just okay. We ordered dinner for two, which came to around $40. The chicken balls consisted of very thick and dry breading. They were difficult to swallow they were so dry. The rice was bland and dry. The eggs in it were so overcooked they weren't edible. The egg rolls were really sad too. But we did like the chow mein. Overall, we wouldn't order from here again. My recommendation is to try silver wok for the best chinese food in Kingston.

One of the best Asian cuisine in Kingston! We ordered take out and it was fantastic! So tasty and delicious. We’ve ordered from here before and each time it’s been wonderful. We had egg rolls, fried rice, beef in black bean sauce on rice noodles, chicken balls, sweet and sour pork, and general tao chicken - all so good!
Vanessa P — Google review
First time trying this restaurant but it was fantastic! I had a large order. The rice and chicken balls were typical but good, the ribs were juicy and tender, the chow mien, beef and broccoli, Szechuan chicken were all yummy. I ordered the family for 8, only disappointment was there was literally enough for all 8 of us to have two pieces of ribs, balls, 1 egg roll and a large scoop of rice. Will definitely be ordering again but single large portions instead of the meal deal!
Cassie L — Google review
I highly recommend Kai’s Delight. I ordered the ginger chicken, Szechuan chicken and beef & broccoli. Everything was made to order. We asked for spicy, and they made it perfectly spicy. Food is excellent and so were the portions. We will be coming back! I highly recommend A+++++

We have looking for a good Chinese restaurant since we moved from Ottawa in July. We finally found one!! The food was very flavourful, tasty with generous portions - we ordered the beef and broccoli and ginger chicken stir fry. We asked for it to be extra spicy and it was perfect. We will definitely be ordering from here again!

I tried the Combination B: Beef/Broccoli and Chicken Fried Rice. The taste was fine, unfortunately the portion sizes are tiny. For the same price (around $12), at Sunflower Chinese at Montreal/Princess you pretty much get double the portion size. The store is apparently takeout only, for some reason they built a wooden enclosure to prevent anyone from entering the dining area. The parking area is behind the store but the entrance to the lot is to the right of the building!

Frontenac Mall is a small shopping mall that offers a variety of specialist services, including food and pharmacy. It can often be difficult to find a cashier, but the store is well-maintained and the staff are helpful.
It was a delicious experience . I Tried the columbian Chai which literally filled my tastebuds😋 Something I realized quickly is that Claudine (the store owner ) loves her business and customers. And the customers got that same feeling for her. It's sad that she is moving her store to a different location soon. I wish all the very best and hope to see you guys in the new store. Oh,and I doodled about Batman in her memory note 📝 😅

This was the mall to beat back 20+ years ago. Miss this place to bad the grocery store took over a lot of it and now it's being turned into a housing complex. Sad. It was way better than the Cataraqui Centre.

I used to love this place as a kid. It's sad to see how run down its be ome. What stores are still there are good, but it's a shadow of what it used to be. I'd love to see some more shops open or renovations occur. I believe this place could definitely become popular again with the right owner/ modifications
Cat D — Google review
It’s alright, has a couple decent stores but pretty desolate
Isaiah S — Google review
To say that this mall is dying a slow and painful death is putting it mildly. Most of the shops are boarded up and Dollarama (edit: entrance on the exterior now) and Value Village are the anchor stores. Need I say more? Bright points include a Swiss Chalet, Mandarin, and Food Basics. So I guess there are some redeeming features. If you're looking for a place that has stuff though, head to the Cat Centre.

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a few years and are in love with the place. Good food, good prices and amazing staff. Being from a small town we loved the small town community feel of this cafe. Claudine and her staff have always treated us like we're old friends and it makes our experience all that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place over any other place in town. Why go with overpriced fast food when you can have affordable good homemade food. 5/5 stars 100/10.

Great place to be close to nature. Multiple trails to hike. Remember to take some birds seed along, you can even feed some friendly strangers. Restrooms are primitive, take your own TP. Multiple picnic tables on route. Great place to hike.

Took my fiance here to see the scenery and animals. Spent most of our time feeding squirrels and chipmunks. Good to see the chipmunks are so used to being fed, they took the peanuts right from her hand, with the last one pretty aggressively taking it! 😂🤣🤣 Can't wait for a next visit. She'd go every day if we lived closer. 😁👍

A great place to go for a walk There are quite a few trail choices depending on how long you want to go. I love taking the trail along the shoreline with dips thru the forest. Tons of creatures like squirrels, chipmunks, turkey vultures and small birds line the trail paths.

Want to feel like Snow White when furry forest creatures appear out of nowhere at your presence, This is the place! A beautiful park full of wildlife you can practically hand feed. Bring a container to hold seed for the turkeys, they're really gobblers! I still have all my fingers, I just wasn't expecting a 25 lb bird to materialize out of nowhere expecting yo be fed like everything else 🤷‍♂️ Plenty of shade and lots of benches along the way so you can pace yourself accordingly.

By far one of the best places in Kingston to come for a hike. 5 different trails, 1&5 tend to be your most crowded on busy days. It is a great place to interact with wild life. Bring bird seed and nuts if you wanna take some cool pictures. The squirrels literally come up to my service dog to great us, I LOVE IT
Nour K — Google review
We did the big loop. A nice gravel trail between the woods, through the meadow and along the shore of Ontario Lake. It's not what I'd normally consider as a hike but it was a nice and easy walk with some views of the lake and plenty of wild life. The trail is in a very good shape but it was quite buggy. For about half of the walk the trail was largely exposed. Enjoy!

Performing arts theater
The Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts is a stunning new theater in Kingston with facilities for orchestras, classical and jazz musicians, as well as other performances. The theater has attracted some major talent and is located right on the water head down for one of its many featured shows. The only downside is that parking can be a nightmare.
Such a unique and beautiful building with friendly and informative staff. 🕯️ We attended a candlelight concert by fever, with a quartet who performed popular Coldplay songs. 🕯️ ***The entire experience was incredible.***

Spectacular. Amazing acoustics and stunning facility. A pleasure to attend performances here. Video projection could be improved for multimedia and film presentations. The chintzy screen does not do this facility justice. Perhaps a screen that extends the width and length of the back wall would mirror the quality of performance audio built into this facility.

I had my wedding at the Isabel Bader, and was absolutely thrilled with both the venue and the staff. The building itself is absolutely stunning, and the view of the lake from inside and from the patio is unbeatable. One of the reasons we chose this venue is that both the patio and the inside option for the ceremony (which ended up being our back-up option in case of rain) were equally gorgeous. The reception area is spacious and beautifully lit. Brittany and Lisa, as well as the rest of the staff, were fantastic. They answered all our questions leading up to the day and ensured that everything ran smoothly on the day of. They coordinated everything seamlessly so we never had to worry about anything and could just relax and have fun! They are also great with dietary restrictions, including celiac disease, and the food was delicious. We received many similar comments about the venue and staff from our guests. Highly recommend!

April 2023 What a beautiful venue to experience the sound of the Kingston Symphony Orchestra. The wood interior and the sound is amazing in this concert hall. A spectacular concert, and a crowd pleasing friendly and well-liked conductor. The lobby area is bright because of the floor to ceiling windows and a view of Lake Ontario. My first time here, and I will be back again. Many different shows are performed here, so check their website.

World class venue with cutting-edge facilities. The Isabel Bader Centre is clearly one of the most beautiful art centres amidst all of Canada. The performance hall alone should be noted as one of the nicest halls of its size in North America - unbelievable accoustics, stunning visuals, and an intimate space with smaller seating area. This venue is an absolute fairy tale for anything and everything classical music, especially when it comes to chamber music. I can’t recommend coming here enough, both as an audience member and (if it applies to you) as a performer! Glorious space and Kingston is lucky to have it!

I photographed a wedding (one so far) at the Isabel Bader Centre in 2023, and had an excellent experience. The ceremony venue is beautiful, the reception space is spacious, well lit, and stunningly gorgeous, and the building and surrounds provide ample opportunities for creative portraits and dynamic family formals. The dinner and service were also excellent. Very excited to photograph more weddings here.

One of the best campus I have ever seen. Most of the places in Kingston belongs to Queen’s university. The buildings are stone buildings and so nice to see it. Literally looks like England. Queen’s University’s campus is absolutely remarkable. Every academic building exudes cultural depth, and the historical legacy gives the entire university a sense of calm sophistication. Chez Piggy Restaurant & Bar is a globally inspired dining spot housed in a former limestone stable, offering an outdoor dining space for patrons. The culinary expertise of the team, led by Stev who is a graduate of the Stratford Chefs School, brings forth a diverse menu with options for alternative diets such as vegan and gluten-free dishes. Known for its sustainable seafood offerings and relaxed atmosphere, this family-owned establishment has been a staple in Kingston's culinary scene for over 40 years.
Very nice restaurant in an old limestone stable with a turn of the century tavern feel. Loved the location of this restaurant. The main entrance is tucked away through a small alley where you're met with the patio and little garden area. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our group of 10. We had tried to make reservations for the patio. Unfortunately, due to our party size and it being a Saturday, we settled for indoors. Really enjoyed the upper seating area and the decor. Food was excellent and cooked to perfection. They also have their own beer that was local and very refreshing.
KG82 — Google review
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chez Piggy in Kingston, and overall, the experience was fantastic with just a few minor areas for improvement. Firstly, the atmosphere here is truly special—warm, cozy, and inviting, creating the perfect setting whether you’re dining out with friends, family, or on a special date. From the moment you step inside, you sense that it’s a place with history and character, making it easy to relax and enjoy your meal. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the food itself. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The oysters, in particular, were outstanding—fresh, juicy, briny, and honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. If you’re a seafood lover, these oysters alone justify a visit. The menu offers an impressive range of dishes, blending creativity with familiar comforts, and each item we tried surpassed expectations. However, one area where Chez Piggy could improve significantly is in the quality of their service. While the staff weren’t unfriendly, our server seemed a bit inattentive and disengaged at times. It felt like we were waiting longer than necessary between courses, and there was a notable lack of attentiveness, especially considering how excellent everything else was. Given the overall quality of the dining experience, it’s clear that the restaurant would greatly benefit from enhanced staff training and a more attentive service approach. Despite this, the incredible quality of the food and charming atmosphere ultimately overshadowed the service shortcomings. I genuinely enjoyed my time at Chez Piggy, and with just a bit more attention to detail in service, this could easily be one of the top dining experiences in Kingston. Overall, I highly recommend checking out Chez Piggy for their exceptional oysters and thoughtfully prepared dishes. Just go prepared for a possibly slower pace of service. I’m optimistic that with improved service standards, Chez Piggy could easily become the go-to spot in Kingston for a truly memorable dining experience.

We ate here because of the ambiance in the alley the restaurants are in, which is really cool and somewhat romantic. We chose this restaurant because they are dog friendly and let me tell you, they were they friendly. Service was excellent and the food was very good. It's a little pricey however it's the tourist area of Kingston so most restaurants are. Really enjoyed eating here, I highly recommend it.

It was ok. Server was great. Nice guy, older cool guy. Knew the menu very well. Great recommendations. Salads were kind of wilted Steak was thin, well cooked but unseasoned. Roast vegetables were kind of the bottom of the roast pan scraps. Pasta was average. There are much better places for similar budget in Kingston. I won’t go back anytime soon.

The ideas behind the menu items are awesome - definitely one of the more creative brunch menus in Kingston. That being said, it didn't quite hit that 10/10 sweet spot youre looking for. Absolutely solid, but there are higher highs to hit! The restaurant itself is wonderful, physically and spiritually. Top class service too. Definitely hit it up if you've got cash to burn in kingston!

Set in a beautifully restored 1806 limestone stable, Chez Piggy radiates rustic charm blended with contemporary flair. The cozy courtyard patio—often dappled with sunlight—offers relaxed al fresco dining, and is notably pet‑friendly. Inside, the upstairs dining room is bright and airy, with evocative artwork, warm wood tones, and exposed stone walls. The Service and food was excellent. We ordered the Chefs Specials for the day that did not disappoint. On a final note, If you're visiting Kingston and seeking a dining experience that mixes character, creativity, and comfort with reliable service—and don't mind paying a bit for it—Chez Piggy is a top choice. It’s particularly strong for date nights, brunches, or memorable meals with friends or family. I'd recommend: Book ahead, especially for weekend evenings or patio seating.
Antonio F — Google review
We enjoyed our dinner at Chez Piggy. Our waiter was very attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The food service was on the slower side. We waited 25 minutes between our appetizer and main dishes. I ordered the dinner special—the duck breast—which was overcooked… a bit chewy and somewhat difficult to cut. I didn’t review the bill closely until I got home and noticed a $5 charge listed as “included tax.” It’s not a big deal, but normally I would ask the restaurant about such charges. This time I didn’t (my oversight), so I searched online to see what it might be, but couldn’t find a clear answer. Just a heads-up—if you visit this restaurant, check your bill carefully and clarify any extra charges before you pay.

Ice cream shop
Mio Gelato, located on Ontario Street in Kingston, has been a beloved spot since 2010. This locally-owned shop offers traditional Italian gelato made with fresh artisanal ingredients. The menu features a wide variety of flavors including popular options like Stracciatella, coffee, and pistachio, as well as unique offerings such as Thai Milk Tea.
The place has a cozy and fun vibe. Lots of flavor choices to choose from. The small size cup portion is good for two people. We got the mango which tasted really fresh and sweet and the rocky road (not a lot of nuts but still hits the spot). The staff were really welcoming and nice and would definitely recommend overall.

Stopped by Mio Gelato while exploring Kingston, and the long queue stretching outside the shop immediately caught my attention — and now I completely understand why! 🍨✨ I tried the mango and maple blueberry gelato, and both were absolutely delicious — creamy, rich, and bursting with fresh flavor. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into their gelato. The texture was perfect — smooth and refreshing without being too sweet. Despite the line, the service was quick and friendly, and the cozy interior made it worth the short wait. A perfect treat for a sunny day by the waterfront! ☀️🍦 Definitely one of the best gelato spots in Kingston — totally worth the hype and the line!
G J — Google review
I love this place! There was a line on Friday night, full of young people chatting and trying different ice creams, the vibe was so alive! And the taste of their gelato is AMAZING! I got mango and pistachio, both were so good! They have tons of flavors to choose from, and the staff are super cool and friendly. Thanks for the great experience!
Kosar M — Google review
It might have been because it was a public holiday and the place was packed, but we didn’t even have time to check the many flavors available before the staff kept coming over to ask what we wanted — it felt a bit rushed. The ice cream was tasty, and the scoops were generous. Highly recommend the pistachio flavor. However, it melted way too fast, so it got a little messy to eat.
Chan K — Google review
Mia Gelato has so many flavours to choose from! I tried the Chocolate Skor and Tiramisu — the Chocolate Skor was super tasty and really hit the spot, while the Tiramisu was too sweet for me. Still, it’s a great place to satisfy late-night cravings. I just wish they offered a single-scoop option too!
Pranit P — Google review
Nice gelato but really nothing too special. Price is above average. Large cup (3 flavours) is $10.xx. Good location to get to after dinner.
Gary C — Google review
I've had gelato in many places for those who read my reviews. Even gelato many a times in Rome. Mio Gelato is one of the best. The options of flavours was 48.The gelato flavours and creaminess was Bang on.I wish I could have had at least 30 of them. The coconut rum, pb+J and chocolate skor where off the chart. The service and patience from Brooklyn was unbelievable for the four of us. This will be one of my gelato/ ice cream places forever. If you love gelato/ ice cream come to Mio Gelato you won't be disappointed. 🙏😋😋😋😋. Just went again, again and will go tomorrow. Big lines for a reason. Thank you Mio Gelato 😋😋😋😋😋. Fall flavours now apple crumble and pumpkin spice 😋😋😋😋. Just keep adding pics every time I go. Can you imagine if I live in Kingston, I would be the king 👑 of Mio Gelato 😋😋😋. Expresso was amazing. Good strong taste of ☕😋😋😋

Definitely a must, so good!! My gauge is always the pistachio gelato! Not green, the colour it’s supposed to be naturally, and the taste. Brings me back to Europe quality:)

Japanese restaurant
Sima Sushi is a cozy eatery offering a casual and contemporary space to enjoy sushi, Japanese kitchen entrees, and sake. It's known for its fresh, delicious, and affordable Japanese cuisine. The lunch menu features eight mixed plates for under $10, with the Maki B being a standout choice. This restaurant is popular among students due to its high-quality fish used in creative and filling sushi offerings.
All I can say is that the food here is fresh and delicious. Every time I make it to Kingston I stop in and they never disappoint. Perfect every time. It is a small, quaint little place although can be a little cool in the winter time if you sit to close to the door. Drafty I would say.

We stumbled upon Sima Sushi during a stop in Kingston and I’m so glad we did! The sushi was really fresh, authentic, creative and truly some of the best we’ve had so far! The fish tasted clean and high-quality, and the portions were generous (there are no tiny cuts here). The service was wonderful, very attentive, kind, and made us feel welcome right away. You can tell they take pride in what they do! The atmosphere was cozy and thoughtful, with a clean, tidy space that made the experience feel even more special. Everything from the sashimi to the rolls were delicious, beautifully prepared, and honestly exceeded expectations. If you’re in Kingston and craving sushi, highly recommend making a stop at this spot! Such a gem!
Piyal — Google review
Sima is my favourite sushi restaurant to go to. Ive tried sushi from various towns across Ontario and they are by far one of the best. They have very fresh sashimi that never disappoints. The sashimi dinner sets are always wonderful, the eel is delicious and not too fishy, the salmon tataki is excellent, and the takoyaki is the perfect consistency.
Alyonna L — Google review
Consistently top quality, generous rolls and fresh, beautifully presented fish. I’ve eaten here for over 5 years and Sima never disappoints. Fast, friendly service. A gem in downtown Kingston.
Tim — Google review
Favourite sushi restaurant in Kingston by far. The fish is always fresh, service could be better in terms of attentiveness and paying attention to when people are ready to order, or finished etc. Vibe is great, good amount of tables without being too busy at any given time.
Lily H — Google review
The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the food is delicious.

The best sushi I have ever had, fast and frendly service.

Went there for my birthday dinner, we’re a pretty big table, but they still found a way to accommodate all of us and make us feel welcome. Service was amazing, food was delicious, and overall experience was one of a kind in the best way possible. I would 100% come back and I recommend this place if you are looking for a nice sushi dinner along friends or loved ones.

The restaurant boasts an extensive menu featuring East Coast BBQ chicken with a Baja Mexican twist, as well as other sustainable seafood options like pork, beef, and chicken smoked in-house. Situated near Confederation Park, the eatery exudes classic East Coast charm while infusing vibrant Mexican flavors into their offerings.
AMAZING FOOD!!!! I’M NOT MAKING THIS UP!!! I’m so sad I was unable to order more since I got full on deliciousness! Definitely try the tuna ceviche, the lobster roll, or the fish cakes. They’re my favorite!!! Kayla was also a superstar! She was great and asked how we wanted our food to come out, checked in on us, and even got our lobster roll cut in half so the family can share the food. PLEASE PLEASE come to Kingston’s Dianne’s fish shack!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Deborah S — Google review
There was nothing special about the food here. The tacos were very small and quite pricey. The fish taco was alright, the fish itself was small, breading wasn’t too light and the fish wasn’t incredibly fresh. The grilled shrimp tacos were slightly better as they had a lot more flavour and seasoning, but was also small. Fish and chips weren’t anything special either. Our server was super nice though.
Forest B — Google review
We had lunch here during our day trip to Kingston. We tried the shrimp tacos and the combo fish and chips, both were good. However, we especially loved the smoky flavor and texture of the shrimp in the tacos, which made them delicious. Since it was a sunny day, we chose to sit on the patio and enjoyed our little “lunch with a view” moment as well.
Amartya G — Google review
Was visiting Kingston and decided to try this place out as it was the only one near by that had seafood and I was craving seafood lol. Got seated right away and the place is cozy. Our waiter was nice and helpful when it came to ordering dessert and drinks. I had fish n chips, which was proper. I enjoyed the batter to fish ratio and how crispy it was. My partner had the lobster on a bun and that was delicious. The calamari was also good, loved the crispness of it, considering some places you go to it can be very chewy. And the dessert that was recommended to us was the perfect thing to top off the wonderful dinner and experience we had.
Tim J — Google review
Diane’s is a Kingston staple and the best gluten free fish and chips in the city. Many menu items are gluten free and the servers are knowledgeable about such dietary issues. We have been here several times and the quality is good and consistent. This is recommended especially for gluten sensitive people. Situated on a prominent corner in downtown Kingston near the harbour, the restaurant looks like a seafood restaurant on the outside. Apart from the fish and chips and a usual fish special, the menu is mostly an eclectic collection with tacos and pasta as regular items. When there is fresh local fish available it is a good time to go.

Excellent food! Service was fast! Haddock fish soup reminds me of my grandmother's recipe. Absolutely delicious! Must stop to next time your in Kingston, Ontario. when you're done with dinner, it is a very short walk to the shore side and to enjoy the atmosphere and The view!

This was the second time had a meal in Dianne's. Our first one was in 2023. We liked the atmosphere and food during our previous visit so we wanted to recreate that experience once more with both our sons. The food is refreshing and tastes good. Our server was cheerful and made us feel comfortable. She checked on us several times. We ordered tuna poke bowl, lobster roll and fried chicken sandwich. We loved all of them and definitely want to come back again.
Sanjukta B — Google review
The food was very good. The fish is cooked in a cider batter that is gluten free. Many other items on the menu that are gluten free. I would rate the wings as on the higher quality end comparatively. Service was good. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. We were seated promptly without reservations. I would try a different dessert next time. The one pictured wasn't bad but not my taste. I would recommend this location.

Fast food restaurant
Burger King is a popular fast-food destination known for its delicious grilled burgers, crispy fries, and creamy shakes. During my recent visit, I found myself craving a quick meal while passing through Kingston. Although the wait was slightly longer than typical fast food service, it became clear that my burger was made fresh to order—definitely worth the wait! The restaurant boasted a clean environment and friendly staff who made me feel welcome.
I frequent this Burger King, usually coming once every few months. My fiancée and I went for a walk and a late night snack and ended up here yesterday evening. I had my best experience yet! Big shoutout to Isha in particular for the great customer service.
Kaylee B — Google review
I recently visited Burger King and was disappointed by the poor customer service, particularly from the night staff. The employees were rude and dismissive, which made the experience frustrating. It’s disheartening to see so many similar reviews and wonder why management isn’t addressing this issue. It feels like they don't care about improving service or customer satisfaction. Proper training for staff is essential, and I hope they take these concerns seriously. Overall, I left feeling dissatisfied and unlikely to return.
JESTIN F — Google review
I don't often eat at Burger King, but I was in the area and looking for a place to get a quick meal. My order took a bit longer than I expected a fast food order to take, but not an excessively long time. Once I tasted the burger, I realized it took a bit longer because they actually made it fresh. It was very good. The restaurant was also very clean. The service was friendly and welcoming. As I got up to bus my tray, I noticed a little note on my napkin. A very small gesture, but it made my day. Thanks Rish. Great service.

$4 for medium fries. Good price, but a very, very small portion. Not worth it. I'd rather spend $4 on 4 potatoes and cook them myself.

Amazing service! I used skip this evening. I had a couple special requests in the note area. I took the opportunity to thank the staff & tell them to stay safe! When were thanking "essential workers" we often over look the service industry! Yet who are we depending on to feed our babies &/or our bellies when we wish not to brave the grocery store lines! When we've been to busy to cook. Or simply when we are just too lazy to do so! To my surprise this lovely note was attached to my bag! Which made me feel absolutely wonderful that I was able to bring happiness and kindness to the shift 😊 Let's keep in mind we're all in this together ❤ let's be kind! & I highly recommend this location

Was given this as a chocolate milkshake today ..... I go here everyday I get a chocolate milkshake everyday it is always filled up right into the lid and mixed properly today I got one and the little girl with beige headscarf behind the counter she gives me this and I looked at her stunned and I said I'm missing about a quarter of my milkshake there and it's not mixed either and she goes no that's what you get we have a cup that determines the size and yes it is mixed .... like I haven't bought one there every other day for the last few years .... including 2 last night and 1 the day before ..... Guess the customer is not always right at this place .. but the minimum wage employee who work there a month definitely lost my business..... For you to just flat out tell me I'm wrong and expect this to be okay you need some customer service skills lady I worked in fast food for a long time for you to go and make my shake properly would have taken you less than a minute but instead you'd rather argue with the customer....nice job

Farm
Bayview Farm, located in a scenic setting at Collins Bay, offers refined Canadian cuisine with a contemporary twist. The restaurant is the brainchild of renowned chef Clark Day and is set on a 19th-century family property. The menu features farm-to-table dishes that change with the seasons, often incorporating fresh vegetables grown on-site. Guests can expect an intimate and inviting atmosphere that captures Kingston's food scene.
My fiance and I just enjoyed one of the best dinners we've ever had. Loved the food and the service and friendliness of the staff was beyond compare. Will be going back.

The entrance of this great restaurant is well hidden on the side of the road. Once you arrived, you will see a great cozy farm house restaurant where the chefs and staff will greet you in person. The ingredients are mostly local sourced and you can tell from the freshness of the food. We had the tuna as the feature main course of the night. We were expecting a great piece of tuna streak and we ended up having something even more exceptional: seared tuna belly. Make sure you make your reservation months in advance as this place is definitely worth driving hours for. We've driven from Oakville over to Kingston just to check it out.

Gourmet food all locally sourced. The pate and the maple caramel dessert were total standouts as were the garam masala duck breast and the scotch mustard seared rack of lamb

Enjoyed celebrating our first anniversary here - definitely a great choice! The food was excellent, and all the staff were very friendly. From the moment we made the reservation with the level of service on the phone we knew we were in for a treat. When we arrived a bit early, our table was already prepared for us and we were seated right away. After starting with a cocktail, Chef Clark took the time to walk us through the menu and tell us about the origin of the locally sourced ingredients and thoughtfully paired a wine to each course for us. We were blown away by every appetizer, entrée and the desserts. The Creme Caramel blew our minds! It on the pricier side to be sure, but we'll worth it, and my wife and I both agreed that it was likely the best meal we've ever had in Kingston. Thanks to everyone at the restaurant for a great dining experience.

Had an amazing dining experience! The food was fresh, flavourful and unique. I was there with a group of 7 and the owner (Clark) accommodated us all without a problem. Excellent, personalized service. I felt like I was one of the family, even though it was my first time there. I had the filet minion which was cooked perfectly and was a very high quality meat. Delicious!! A special occasion hot spot! I will be back for sure. Remember to ask Clark about his love for pistachios :)

what an amazing experience. We had a party of five including one vegan. The chefs prepared the most wonderful three courses for the vegan. The other four thoroughly enjoyed all their wonderful food as well and the desserts were to die for. Would come here again in a heart beat. Amazing service. Atmosphere and especially the food
Linda D — Google review
Quite honestly the best meal I've ever had. I had been wanting to go for so long. My only disappointment was that I didn't go before now! I started with the soup which had shrimp and artic char in every bite. I can't wait to go back and try more of those mains. I'm still thinking about the dessert the next morning. I tried almost all of them as everyone at our table ordered a different kind. The staff was perfect, friendly and inviting. I felt like part of the family while I was there.
