Aquarium
Zoos & Aquariums
Located in downtown Chattanooga, Tennessee Aquarium is a must-visit family-friendly destination. The 200,000-square-foot complex features two buildings: River Journey and Ocean Journey. River Journey showcases exhibits about the wildlife along the Tennessee River, including playful otters and a seahorse exhibit. On the other hand, Ocean Journey houses a butterfly garden, penguins, sharks, and various ocean creatures. Visitors can also enjoy interactive shows and cruises at the adjacent Ross's Landing river pier.
It was wonderful. There are two buildings, the river and ocean. We began on the 4th floor in each and worked our way down. I would allow a couple hrs for each one. Parking was $13 for 3 to 5 hrs. There was a lot to see and do outside in the area also. It was a great family day.

Great place for families and non families alike. Loved the large tanks for the fish, they looked very clean as well. Glad to see the residents had plenty of space to swim around, compared to some other aquariums I have visited. Wonderful butterfly garden as well. I enjoyed that saltwater and freshwater exhibits were separated. Fantastic views of the Tennessee River and the Riverfront area from the aquarium. Would definitely recommend a visit here, if you're in town.
Ulrika W — Google review
My BF took me here as a b-day surprise and it did not disappoint. The exhibits were lovely and educational. The view of the river from the different levels was spectacular. We really enjoyed ourselves, we came late in the day and it wasn't crowded which was delightful and peaceful - I recommend it!
Janelle R — Google review
Had such a great time at the Tennessee Aquarium! The setup and design of the buildings are beautiful — super easy to walk through and explore. There’s so much to see and learn at every turn, from the sea creatures to the interactive exhibits. Definitely a fun mix of learning and relaxing. Highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area — I’ll let the pics do the rest of the talking! 🐠🐧🌊

This place is awesome!!! We had such a great time!! There's so much to see you could easily spend the entire day here! The only issue is parking (especially if you're disabled). We ended up having to pay to park in front of a condominium in order to have enough room for me to use my wheelchair.
Candice L — Google review
Really great experience for adults and children of all ages. They have two separate buildings for aquatic life. Hands on activities exist such as touching a sting ray, turtles and stingrays. Was not expecting the butterfly garden which was really neat as well. An IMAX also exists for approximately a 30 minute show. Starting at the top floors and working your way down is recommended. Tickets are same price at gate as they are online.
Jonathan S — Google review
We are aquarium people, and I've been here before, but my partner has not! We needed to make it a stop on our trip and we both had a blast! Every single member of staff we came across was very friendly and kind. The exhibits were beautiful and we loved seeing the variety of critters they had. I also got to pet a shark in one of the touch tanks, so yeah it was basically the best day of my life. I'm so glad I got to show him this aquarium and can't wait to go back next time we are in TN!
Bry M — Google review
Overall my wife and I enjoyed this aquarium. Coming from the Georgia Aquarium which is world known as being the biggest in the United States, this aquarium was nice to visit for the first time. We both wish the Ocean exhibit was bigger and had a similar size to the river exhibit, and wish the Ocean exhibit had more sections. We think the pricing might be slightly over priced, but it's still worth it to visit if you have never been there before. We paid 40 each per person.

The Southern Belle Riverboat in Chattanooga offers a variety of specialty cruises, including the standard Sights Cruise and the romantic Sunset Cruise. The boat, built in 1985, provides sightseeing trips along the Tennessee River and offers dining cruises with full meals, live entertainment, and a tour of the pilot house. After a ride on the riverboat, visitors can enjoy dinner at nearby restaurants with patio seating while taking in views of the Chattanooga skyline.
We had the very best time on our Fall Foliage excursion!! We are so looking forward to our Dining/Dancing trip in December!! The staff was excellent from the moment you step inside the gift shop and the wonderful restaurant on second floor was amazing!! Everyone aboard the Southern Belle was so awesome!! The music was great!! The Captain was extremely knowledgeable about the history and we truly enjoyed listening to his stories!!
Addie M — Google review
The first stop for the boat ride was the gift shop. They had us arrive way too early (which is smart on their part as they have tons of stuff for sale.) We were each given a mini moon pie as a gift . There were four of us and they gave us all the same flavor. That was a bummer. I would have been nice to get a variety. It may have spurred us to buy some if we liked them. We did not care for the blueberry she gave us. No A/C on this boat and it was hot outside so it was warm inside with only some fans blowing. We had a family member in a wheelchair so we did not get to enjoy the musician playing on the upper deck. I should rephrase, some of the family did get to hear the musician as they did go up and check out the upper deck. It is a nice cruise and if I did it again I would chose a later time where the colors of the trees were changing and the temperatures were cooler. All of the workers were nice - there was a bartender on our level and the captain and another uniformed fella at the entrance as everyone was boarding.
Jenny U — Google review
We went on the luncheon Fall 3 hour tour. This was a casual, relaxing time. Arriving 1 hour before allowed plenty of time to check in, use the restrooms and wander in the large gift shop. There were also places to sit and play some games while waiting. No rush needed to board as our table was reserved. The live music was wonderful. Food was very good. Then there was Bingo, if you desired, or wander the boat and catch the views. The narration after lunch was very interesting. The only downside was that the rooms were very cold. It was warmer outside (but a jacket was still needed). Dress warmly.
Elaine — Google review
Have been on the boat 3 times now but this is the first 3HR Fall Foliage cruise. As always the staff on and off the boat were very nice and helpful. Captain Mike and Sean are always fun. We got to see several different birds including a Bald Eagle!! The leaves haven’t really started to change yet but it was still a very nice trip except for some of the other passengers. I just wish there was an ADULTS ONLY Foliage cruise. Two families let their brats run around screaming the entire cruise while the parents boozed it up at the 3rd and 1st deck bars. Other than that it was a great time.
Chris — Google review
The Southern Belle is a neat spot on the river with a lot to offer beyond just cruising. The interior is comfortable and well-kept, with plenty of seating. Outside you’ll find pool tables and a nice space to relax with a view of the water. Inside, there’s a general store on the first floor and a full restaurant upstairs, which makes it feel more like a destination than just a boat ride. Not sure if the river cruises run as often as they used to, but the atmosphere onboard is still enjoyable whether you’re there to eat, shop, or just hang out. Overall, it’s a solid place to spend a couple of hours if you’re exploring downtown Chattanooga and want something a little different.
Jonte M — Google review
I had such a good time on this cruise – what a great experience! I came to Chattanooga to visit my sister, and we chose to do this sunset cruise on one of the nights while I was visiting. The weather could not have been more perfect, as the large ship made its slow circle along the Tennessee riverbanks . We were treated to a gorgeous sunset, and we were seated on the uppermost deck, so we had an unobscured view. We were also lucky to have a musician who played his guitar and sang golden oldies that were familiar to probably most of us on deck. It was the perfect background music to listen to, sing along with, and underscore the relaxing experience that we were having. I could not have been more pleased with this voyage! Highly recommend :-)
Deb S — Google review
Had a lovely cruise on the Southern Belle. Made new friends sitting on the top deck viewing the turning leaves, the bald eagles, beautiful homes and the timeless river. The narration on the return trip was informative and entertaining. Even though it was a bit misty when we departed, the upper deck, while open, is covered so we were cozy. Highly recommend this trip for leaf peepers!
Linda J — Google review
What a wonderful sunset river cruise! We loved seeing the mountains from a new perspective and enjoyed the live music onboard—the musician on 8/1/25 played a great mix of songs that everyone appreciated. My family had a fantastic time and especially loved the complimentary moon pies; we even bought extra to bring home!

The Creative Discovery Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee offers a wide range of interactive and educational exhibits designed for children of all ages. Visitors can explore rotating and permanent science exhibits, as well as enjoy immersive experiences such as piloting a riverboat at the Tennessee Riverplay area. The museum also features the nationally-ranked Treehouse Adventure, which includes various pods like The Gathering House and The Weather Pod where visitors can observe current weather conditions.
My 4 kids (10, 9, 8 & 4) all LOVED this! I loved that they labeled the "sensory advisory" areas because my 4 year old has autism and some times these things can be a little much for him. The STEM floor was our FAVORITE! They had some of the coolest gadgets. It was even parent fun friendly! We are a family of 6 so we paid nearly the same amount for 1 visit that we would for a membership- HIGHLY recommend splurging on the membership for larger families they'll pay for themselves in 2 visits and believe me you'll be back!!

Hand down top 10 of my most favorite children’s museums to visit in the United States. This place was clean very creative interactive exhibit lots of sensory inclusion. It’s a definitely a must when you come to Tennessee to visit, if you have children check out their free family night every month on the second Thursday of the month The exhibits are always changing, so make sure you check them out every so often
Zacareonna A — Google review
My children and I have been here several times. We love how interactive it is. I love how they constantly update and change one of the rooms. We’ve been when it was Doc McStuffins, Wild Kratt’s, Mo Willems and more. As my kids have grown they still find this place so fun. The water area is very sensory friendly and is a fan favorite. The STEM area upstairs is fantastic. The robotic arms, build your own race car and make art using recycled materials are just another area we love. I cannot say enough great things about this place. We visited a few weeks ago. It was free admission night to the museum. It was great but obviously very crowded. My son got overwhelmed and over stimulated while inside. Brian was super helpful. He gave us ideas on rooms inside that would help calm him. I truly appreciated that. We will definitely be back but we will go during a less busy time.
Ariel L — Google review
Absolutely wonderful experience. Also, it is relatively cheap. You can enter and exit all day after purchasing your tickets. You just need a stamp to get back in. Every exhibit was educational and interactive, and It offered both English and Spanish on the educational boards, which was amazingly inclusive for my blended family. My daughter had a blast in the arts center and dinosaurs exhibit, lol. Though I would warn, some of the stuffed animals in the gift shop are 40$-50, and they do not take tap pay. Regardless, a 10/10 adventure for a relaxed Sunday activity. Will be going back.
Shayla W — Google review
The science show on October 4th was absolutely amazing! It was a small group, and my son has a speech delay, but the scientist leading the show was so kind, patient, and engaging. He truly gave us an experience we’ll never forget. I know it’s his job, but I hope he understands the lasting impact he has on children and families like ours. The Discovery Museum may be a little pricey, but the experience is worth every penny. We spent hours exploring, learning, and bonding together. Even the café staff were so thoughtful — they kindly let me store my belongings while we explored. Everyone we encountered showed such genuine warmth and care. Please let the entire staff know how appreciated they are — they all deserve a raise for the love and joy they bring to families every day!
Tiarika T — Google review
We visited on a holiday, it was completely full of kids. Our kids had a blast playing with the dinosaur dig, and the robot games in the upstairs area. The outdoor tree house was great, but it was a bit too hot, definitely will be awesome during the fall. The river play area also had the kids very engaged for a while. Definitely plan to spend 2-3 hours with the kids.
Frederick E — Google review
The kids had a blast and honestly so did my husband and I. That being said,a star short is only because even though I know kids are rough with the equipment at times and things can break, some of the broken items throughout could be easily fixed or repaired. Upstairs one of the tables about wind power was completely broken, 3 out of 4 catapults were broken, etc. At almost $100 for a family of 4 each i can't imagine that it'd be impossible to get someone in to fix those kinds of things on a regular basis. That is what would really set this place apart, for sure.
Ellen P — Google review
This museum is a lot of fun. There was so much to do! I do wish that is a little bigger, but every corner was used to do something fun. I would definitely come back in the future.

Fast food restaurant
Five Guys is a popular burger joint that serves up delicious eats like burgers, sandwiches, fries, and milkshakes. Outdoor seating is available for Fido while you enjoy your meal. The burgers are some of the best in the business and the fries are equally as delicious.
Under the old management this place was slowly withering but the new management and night team was genuinely astonishing! I have been to 5 guys across the country and when I say this ranks in the top three because of freshness, speed of service, and the energy this night team gives off I mean it! I left a one star review about a week ago+ due to the experience I received before they changed out the crew here but I came back tonight and let me tell you this is a five guys you’ll want to visit no matter what part of Chattanooga you live! I know 2 months ago this location or organization got bought out by new ownership but I have to say they are onto something with the crew they have at this location truly. 10/10 on crispy fries(Cajun of course) and 20/10 on the burger! I’ll be back as they have truly redeemed themselves and I’ll be bringing my entire family to experience what a real 5 guys should be! I wish I would have asked for the young lady’s name because when I walked in I was greeted with a smile, a welcome to 5 guys and an energy that cannot be replicated. I’m grateful they have put this night crew together because this is exactly what this location needed truly truly truly! Below I have a picture of the fries in the bag (filled uppppp) , the golden crispness of the fries, and the amazing burger full of juiciness and made perfect!

I placed an order with Uber Eats. They sent 4 different drivers to the Broad Street location. I finally cancelled the order because something seemed off. Finally, Uber reached out to me to say the restaurant was closed. When I called to place an order, they answered the phone. The party on the 5guys phone hung up on me. I guess they have all the customers they need. Never again.
Rebecca D — Google review
This place has really gone downhill the last 3-4 months or so. We used to eat here multiple times a week most of last year. We just went for the 2st time in a month and a half, because we haven't been having good experiences, and again we were disappointed. The staff is less than friendly, they got our order wrong on both burgers, and the lettuce on my burger was soggy and disgusting. It's very disappointing because this used to be our favorite spot.
Windy M — Google review
Came here for dinner around 7:30 on a Monday. When we walked in no employees were to be seen by the time we got to the register to employees came out and let us know that they did not have any burger meat. Five Guys BURGERS and fries should not be running out of burgers.
Bailey L — Google review
Five guys is usually a once a week stop for me. Nothing like a good juicy cheeseburger to hit the spot. Frys are always over the top and the peanuts are good also.
Will L — Google review
note that i do love five guys but i really need to let yall know DO NOT GET ANY WATER/DRINKS FROM THE MACHINES. i got some water and gagged from how awful it tasted, genuinely like metallic almost blood like taste i thought maybe my mouth was bleeding (it wasn't). i would've let the employees know but this was during a delivery so i couldn't. please clean or fix whatever is in there

Cool little restaurant in downtown Chattanooga with great food. We were there for brunch service. Our Server Hunter was personable, polite, and professional. Food was excellent; I had French toast with rum sauce. The rum sauce was amazing and added a new dimension to standard French toast. Bacon was perfectly cooked. My wife had the Avocado Smash Chicken. She loved it! Would recommend this as a lunch/ brunch stop in Chattanooga.

Our server was Madison and she was very friendly and attentive. We arrived when it was empty and it soon filled up after but we didn't get forgotten. We loved the food! We ordered parmasean wings - super flavorfull! And ahi tuna the slaw with that is perfect. We shared an entire of fish and chips - great fries and even better fried fish! Finished with amazing bread pudding.

Heather the waitress was the best. Even got our pit bull some water. The chef made the best shrimp and grits. I have had them at several places including coastal cities and these were the best!! The burger my husband was also great. We got 2 beef patties for our dog- again, top rating!

This was the first restaurant our three family group tried in Chattanooga and we picked a great one! We arrived at 545pm and were seated immediately. We tried the catfish sandwich, avocado chicken sandwich, Gouda burger, buffalo chicken sandwich, kids chicken strips with macaroni and cheese among other entrees that I don’t recall. Everything was great! Oh, by the way the onion rings were exceptional! The portions were substantial and we felt the food was a good value for the quality and quantity. Our food was not over seasoned like other similar restaurants. One of our picky kids ate all of their chicken strips which was a great reference in itself. Ashland provided great service and handled our group with friendliness and efficiency. We are tempted to return again before we leave town to switch our entrees and perhaps try a few new ones!

We stopped in for lunch (2nd visit) while our car was in the shop. We just needed a quick bite and to be on our way. Allie was amazing as our server. She was attentive and friendly. Our food was great. Po-Boy Shrimp Sandwich with Mac and Cheese. House salad exceeds most house salads I’ve ever had and the fries were hot and fresh. Atmosphere is great. Music just right volume so you can talk. Food fresh. Staff friendly and helpful! Highly recommend!

We had an excellent dinner in this surprisingly excellent restaurant. We had crab cakes, fresh and yummi, and a plate of chicken wings, also very fresh and soooo yummi! A nice bread pudding was our dessert, served with fresh whipped cream. Who could ask for more? With 3 glasses of wine and a very generous tip it was less than 35 dollars each.

Bistro
Easy Bistro & Bar is a chic yet laid-back French bistro located in a renovated bottling plant on Chestnut Street. Since its establishment in 2005, this family-run restaurant has become a favorite among local food enthusiasts. The menu offers classic French dishes with a Southern American twist, featuring seafood from the raw bar and an extensive cocktail list. The use of farm-fresh, seasonal ingredients adds creativity to the beautifully presented dishes.
Great experience dining here. The food is excellent and very well priced. There a lot of different flavors to explore through their dishes. They also have half off oysters during happy hour. They have a large variety which were all delicious. The tasting menu was a very great way to sample a lot of the items. It was very filled. They also have an excellent tea menu as well as coffee. I personally found their mock tails to be egregiously overpriced. It's about $8 for what seemed to be about 4 oz. I would not recommend the mock tails.

My husband and I ate here on our last night during a recent trip to Chattanooga. We went with the chef’s choice tasting menu. Easily one of the best meals we have ever had! Service was great! I definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back!

Our new favorite! We stopped in for oysters and came back for dinner the next night. We loved the clean, modern ambiance and chill vibe. Every dish wast delightful & delicious. Great selection of oysters, the heirloom tomatoes & stone fruit was so flavorful, the tuna & peaches came with a perfect little punch of spice, rum cake & profiterole were divine! Excellent service, impressive chefs and the jovial teamwork really made it an experience. We’ll be back for our anniversary next year! Thanks for an awesome time!

The Easy Bistro is our go to for delightful cocktails, appetizers, and dinner. The happy hour oyster selection is wonderful. The chicken liver pate exceptional and all of our dinner selections have been truly delicious. Don't miss this one.

We went there for dinner and honestly, the atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was excellent. As for the food, don’t miss the trout — it’s amazing. The pork chop isn’t the best option, but it’s fine overall.
Ruben P — Google review
I don’t think I’ve ever had a better meal. Easy Bistro was a last-minute reservation after we spotted their menu online, and deciding to go was easy. Our reservation was for 7:45, and although the place was packed when we arrived, the service was quick and everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful with our questions. We started with cocktails and a dozen oysters (plus a few extras). Then we tried the squash soup—something that sounds simple but was anything but. For our entrée, we shared the bavette steak, cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. It paired beautifully with the sunchoke grits and sweet potato side. And of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert, so we ordered two. The profiterole was fantastic, and the crème brûlée had a slight lemony flavor with a great crunch from the sea salt flakes and pistachios on top. From start to finish, the food kept impressing us and made for a perfect date night.
