Kapaa in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Kapaa, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Kapaa, on Kauai’s east “Coconut Coast,” offers an easygoing small-town base with quick access to beaches, coastal bike paths, and scenic drives. You can paddle or boat on the nearby Wailua River to reach waterfalls and fern-draped grottos, or hike trails like Sleeping Giant for sweeping island views. The town itself has a walkable strip of local shops, food trucks, and casual eateries, giving a relaxed, lived-in feel rather than a big resort atmosphere.
With favorites like Oasis on the Beach, Fern Grotto, and Wailua Shave Ice, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Pho Kapaa and Oasis on the Beach so you can get the best taste of Kapaa while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Lydgate Beach Park, located on the coconut coast of Kauai's east side, is a popular destination for both locals and visitors. The beach is known for its tree-lined shores and jetty-enclosed swimming areas that are ideal for snorkeling. The park offers a variety of amenities including picnic tables, barbecue grills, campsites, outdoor showers, and restrooms. It also features a playground called Kamalani Playground which is great for families with children.
Wonderful beach. Plenty of parking, picnic tables and bathroom facilities. Nice maintained walking paths just off the sand. Beach itself was nice and soft. Not a lot of room for a bunch of people and umbrellas but that is ok. This is a great beach to come down and eat a meal, walk the paths and take a quick dip in the water.
Derek M — Google review
This is a pretty cool beach, especially if you come with young kids. We visited it on our last day so we didn't actually get to swim in it, but several people were snorkeling and the water was very calm. There are 2 separate swimming areas that are kind of blocked off from waves as you can see in the pictures. Of, course some waves come over the rocks, but nothing crazy. Definitely a good beach to check out just to see or if you are looking for calm waters. You can see in the pictures and video, outside of the "designated" swimming areas you would not want to swim as there is tons of drift wood everywhere and lots of rocks.
Becca F — Google review
The most perfect beach for kids who do not want to get into rough waters, with man-made designated pods for kids to still enjoy the waves and a less rocky floor. Bathrooms and showers are available, but parking can be difficult during peak hours. The sunset isn't really beautiful from here.
M M — Google review
We absolutely loved this beach due to the rock barrier. There were so many fish swimming in here that it was amazing. The water was calm, even when the ocean was rough there were shade and benches plenty of picnic tables, nice bathrooms, and showers and lifeguards on duty.
Kit S — Google review
Amazing beach. Perfect for families with little kids. This beach offers 2 ponds/sections; one for smaller kids with shallow water and the larger section for everyone else. Not too deep. Perfect area for snorkeling and spending a day by the beach.
Dmitry A — Google review
This beach is perfect for kids and novice snorkelers. There is a wall around an area of water that protects it from the waves. It's safe and calm. The snorkeling isn't full of the most bright and colorful fish, but there are lots of fish there in the protected area and the water is clear and clean. There are picnic tables and places to shower off. There's also lots of shade. It's a great place for families to hang out and enjoy the water.
Katherine — Google review
Great place. Lifeguard. A place for the kids with no waves and another section with waves. Wish I’d had my suit on. I’m going to bring the family next year. Grandkids will love it.
Linda H — Google review
This is a nice beach park with all the amenities, and some protected pools for snorkeling and seeing many fish. It is peaceful to walk here, and the park provides showers, lots of parking, picnicking, a playground, and lots of parking anywhere.

When you visit Wailua Shave Ice, located on Kuhio between Inia and Kauwila streets, you'll find a charming red food wagon offering a delightful selection of shaved ice flavors and toppings. This gourmet shave ice stand prides itself on using all-natural syrups made from locally sourced ingredients, ensuring a fresh and authentic taste in every bite.
What a TREAT! Technically ate here a month ago but I keep thinking back on the Triple Coconut Shave Ice and Da Ube One Shave Ice. And I wish I had some now. So. Freaking. Good. The shave ice is perfectly fine - melt in your mouth without freezing into a block in your bowl. The flavor is well distributed so each scoop you eat is awesome. And the cream on top w/ the roasted coconut flakes takes a 10/10 and brings to an 11. Ordered both with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream at the bottom. BAM. Epic. I had Shave Ice at various locations during my two week trip and Wailua Shave Ice was genuinely a league above the rest. If you have to pick one, this place is a no brainer. You will have missed out on greatness if you leave before stopping by. This was the last thing I got to eat during my time in Kauai and it was the icing on the cake, the cherry on top of the shake - Don't miss it!
Sade O — Google review
By far this has been the best shave ice of our trip! Tried Jojo's was not the kind of shave ice we were expecting, thicker chunks and not smooth. Wailua is the place to get that nice smooth shave ice! The fresh fruit on top was amazing. All of the shave ice we tried was delicious and they are open until 9PM. If you have been on Kauai for longer than 2 days you will notice most places close up early or before 7pm. We will be back for more shave ice before we head back home!
Bret — Google review
I learned quickly visiting Hawaii that you should absolutely judge it's shaved ice based on the line of people waiting. We had multiple people tell us that this is the best shaved ice not just on Kauai but on all of the Hawaiian Islands. This proved to be absolutely not true. There are certainly better shaved ice options. What makes this place at the lower end of the list is not just the fact that the quality of the shaved ice was just not that good, but there's also no interaction with people here. You order through a kiosk, and there are people behind the counter who make it, all they do is shout out your name when it's done like Starbucks next door. The shaved ice is mediocre at best. I do want to give a shout out to the owners of this facility because they have learned how to maximize profits and I applaud that. The facility was clean and the three young ladies behind the counter who were making the shaved ice appeared to be happy and get along.
Jon D — Google review
9/10 - da ube one 9.5/10: so fire. the cream on top was wonderful, with surprises of crunchy coconut flakes. every bite had just as much flavor, the ice was infused!!!! - lava flow 3/10: so bad. don't get this one. it tasted like artificial pineapple, with some sad canned pineapple and frozen strawberries on top. the haupia cream was good but didn't make up for the rest of it being so bad. we ended up tossing half of it :(
Nicole L — Google review
damn. this is some shave ice joint. Even though it's inside of establishment and not part of a food truck which I feel like is more the way to go, this place does a great shave ice, very delicate and tasty and great texture and fresh and delicious and refreshing and everything you would want from one, at theo with some mochi and it had a very light whipped on top and definitely going to come back for the lava
Michael C — Google review
All my stars are just for the texture of the shave ice the texture is sooooooo fluffy however I feel like their flavors could use some help but the almond joy is pretty good.
Chloe S — Google review
Absolutely delicious! We got Lava Flow and I can't remember the name of the other one, but it was strawberry, banana and mango. We added the ice cream scoop on the bottom, highly recommended. I don't eat regular shaved ice, they make me so sick and just honestly aren't great imo, but this one I could eat and loved so much. It was hard to just pick 2, I wanted to try so many other flavors, they all looked delicious. Put this one on your must do list!
Becca F — Google review
By far best shaved ice on the island and their awards speak for themselves. I am pretty sure they have been ranked best shaved ice on the island every year since 2018 except for 2020 for obvious reasons. Kinda hard to argue that.

Lookouts
Sleeping Giant: Nounou East Trailhead is a popular 2-mile hiking trail in Kapaa, known for its panoramic views and sheltered picnic table. The moderately difficult trail is a local favorite and offers stunning pine forests, rocky outcrops, and occasional glimpses of the coast. The summit provides one of the best sunrise views on clear mornings. There are two well-marked trailheads that meet up about 1/4 mile from the peak, offering different experiences.
We did the Nounou East Trail to hike up to the top of the Sleeping Giant on Kauai. We had a bit of a late start, beginning around 9:30am, & the small parking lot was full, so we had to park a few streets away. From the base, your goal can be seen, as the impressive cliff is directly above you, & you get glimpses of it as you climb closer & closer. The hike itself is a very gradual incline, zig-zagging up the side of the mountain. Close to the top, the East trail merged with the West trail before reaching a picnic area at the top of the giant's "chest". There are some beautiful views there, but if you continue for about 10 more minutes, & you don't mind a bit of easy rock climbing, you can reach the giant's "head" where panoramic vistas reward your climb! The trail conditions were quite muddy, with some slippery areas. We found our hiking poles were very helpful for our descent, saving us from some slips & falls, & decent footwear with good treads is recommended, though we saw many doing the hike in sandals. Overall, it's a fairly easy climb with gorgeous views!
Diana S — Google review
It is an incredible hike with lots of great scenic views. You are walking inside a rain forest the hole time. It took us most of the day to finish the hike. Even though it's not too difficult, the mud definitely made the journey difficult for us. At the end of the trail I was covered with mud. I almost fell couple of times and my husband fell once. But we didn't give up and made it to the top. There were incredible birds and bird sounds on our trail. We often stopped and listened to them. But beware: birds and mosquitoes are working together because everytime we stopped i had additional a few bites- even with the bug spray. So definitely apply bug spray before and during the hike. Also some places were a little too intense, we literally did some bouldering in some places.
Melodi B — Google review
One of the best hikes I've ever gone on, seriously. Loved the strawberry guava berries (the pink berries) you can eat along the trail, the round protruding roots everywhere, the Causarina trees with their drooping branchlets, the free-range wild chickens, the reddish dirt, the large monarch ferns showing their seed patterns, the expansive views of the valley with the water in the background. All around 5 star hike and completely worth it. We turned around at the shelter -- 3 miles was enough. Recommend that you hike early as it gets muggy/warm later in the day. Note: The East trailhead is steeper with more zigzags. The West trail (which we didn't take) is more suitable for families and is less steep with fewer zigzags. If you have kids or aren't the most agile/fit, take the West trail. BTW, Google Maps said this trail didn't open until 7am, but there was nothing restricting entry before then, nor did I see any signs indicating that opening time. I'd say, start at 6:30 am.
Tom J — Google review
The East trail is easy. All the way to the top is the only place you have to climb over any rocks and that's if you want to get all the way up to the summit but even the little climb is very simple. Almost everybody including children are going to be able to do it easy. The giant trees are on the west side, not the east side.
MrRyan — Google review
Awesome views at the top after a moderate hike. Go early, it gets pretty warm the first half of the hike. Highly recommend
Craig S — Google review
Pretty straightforward hike consisting primarily of switchbacks and some climbing. It wasn't muddy at all when we went, but it did get mistier later in the morning.
Elaine — Google review
This was the best hike! Gorgeous views! It was difficult at times but fun rock climbing a little bit!
Rae J — Google review
Great hike and required a bit of skill to navigate. It was raining and slippery so that added to the thrill!

Fern Grotto is a must-see attraction on Kauai, known for its lush fern-covered cave formed from lava rock. Situated along the Wailua River, it offers a picturesque and leisurely journey through the island's landscapes. Visitors can reach the grotto by taking a riverboat tour or kayaking up the Wailua River. The area also provides access to other attractions such as stand-up paddleboarding, hiking trails, and Opaekaa Falls.
This is one of the most beautiful fern grottos, I've ever seen the beautiful lava cavern dripping with ferns forms a natural amphitheater with excellent acoustics at the grotto Keeping with island custom, a song was serenaded to me with the traditional Hawaiian wedding song. I highly recommend that if you ever want to see something so beautiful, there's about a 200 yd, walk up and back to this grotto, but well worth the walk, please go see it. And enjoy.
James C — Google review
Its a short walk (10 minutes) through lush green surroundings to get from the boat (water transport is the only way to get here) to the Grotto itself. The path is flat and paved and highly accessible, as are the boats that bring you here. You cant stand directly underneath the grotto as it is a protected area and potentially hazardous. The acoustics were demonstrated by our local guide.
Graham T — Google review
This is a nice place that is very developed and maintained. Go on weekends to avoid the large crowds that the Smiths boat tours bring. To access it without the boat tours, paddle up the Wailua River and land and the kayak area. Then just hike up the grotto viewpoint. Sadly you cannot access the grotto anymore beyond the viewpoint.
LC 4 — Google review
Nice boat ride to the fern Grotto. It was nice but wasn’t overly impressive. I’ve seen a lot more impressive ones than this one. I enjoyed the walk to the Grotto and back to the boat more. Some singing entertainment on the way back from the grotto.
Mike M — Google review
This beautiful historic site was a delight. The waterfall is a mere trickle, but the ferns hanging from the rocks are dazzling. They hang like green beads strung on wire hanging from the rock face above the cave mouth. Many people come here to get married or recommit their vows. The path leading up to the grotto is lined with beautiful flowers and bamboo groves. It is a medium length walk from the boat landing to the grotto, so wear appropriate shoes.
Peter C — Google review
A really pretty and serene state park! We kayaked in and had the place to ourselves. Can be tricky docking the kayaks maybe for beginners, but if you are with a guide I’m sure it would be fine! Restrooms on sight. Beautiful plants and birds and gorgeous grotto! Loved it
Sarah Z — Google review
The Fern Grotto in Kauai was a wonderful experience. The boat ride was serene, with warm spring rain in early May that dried quickly. Though it felt a bit crowded and the weather limited the view at the end, the walk and lush surroundings made it all very enjoyable.
Adis — Google review
Water access only. 15 minute boat ride (we took Smith's Fern Grotto boat tour) or kayak to get to the park then it's a 10 minute walk to the Grotto. The path is paved and fairly flat. It is wheelchair accessible. There are restrooms near the bottom of the path but up a flight of stairs. Beautiful location. No access is allowed to the Grotto itself. There is an overlook deck.

Wailua Falls is a stunning double waterfall famous for its appearance in the 'Fantasy Island' opening credits and the rainbows that often form in its mist. While it's legal to visit the falls, access to the bottom of the South Fork Wailua River is prohibited due to liability concerns. Despite this, determined visitors have been known to make their way down for a more immersive experience.
Fun, can't-miss spot to visit on Kauai! ⛲️🌈 The drive is a bit winding with overgrown brush all along but feels adventurous 🚙🌿 Parking is limited but cars drive in and out pretty quickly - not much to see just snap a quick selfie with the falls 🤳 and keep going - hit the beach next 😉🤙

Beautiful waterfalls and no hiking required! If you’re on a chill day after a bunch of adventures like we were, it’s perfect. You literally pull right up to it and park 50 ft away. Beautiful scenic view

Beautiful fall but the views were a bit obstructed due to shrubbery etc. Still enjoyed seeing it but recommended going early as there is little parking and got crowded quick.
Robert R — Google review
Looking for something to see when Kauai? Wailua Falls is one of the best place to see. This place is easy to get to because it is a drive up waterfall. There is parking available and a view for you to look over and see the beautiful view. I wouldn’t recommend walking down because it is unsafe. This is a must see when visiting Kauai. Great for those who are handicapped, cannot hike or with families.
Michelle M — Google review
No hiking trail, you can park and just walk up to it. Pretty cool to see! I went around 4-5pm during the weekday and there was a bunch of parking.
Chris M — Google review
Pretty but hard to see from the lookout. Long drive for a roadside view. The drive was very very pretty. A fence blocked the trail going down to the bottom, with signs stating that the ground was unstable. We went there to go to the bottom of the falls, so that was disappointing. Only recommend if you’re looking for something to pass the time.
Melissa H — Google review
The Falls themselves are beautiful, but are a little bit hard to see. The parking lot at the end of the drive is very small and it's a one-way in / out. It takes a little bit of automotive gymnastics to get cars in and out

Vietnamese restaurant
Pho Kapaa is a cozy restaurant with a menu that caters to both local and traditional Vietnamese tastes. The dining room, which seats just under 50 people, has a friendly and professional staff. Visitors and repeat local patrons frequent the establishment. The pho broth is made from bones, resulting in a clean, light, and flavorful taste. The handmade noodles have the perfect thin consistency with the right amount of meat to noodle ratio.
Great to see this place reopened as, for now, it's far superior to the Lihue pho location. Service and food are prompt and direct. Prices are in line considering on Kauai. Food has been consistent in our 3 visits. On a busy night for recent visit they saw our 2 to go containers full and proactively wanted to put it in a box with tape for our drive home. We didn't need that but that proactive service mindset is something special. Banh MI is solid, oxtail bowl solid and dumpling special also good. See photos for full.menu as of May 2025

Have you ever dreamt of trying Vietnamese cuisine? Well, you simply must give Pho Kauai a shot! I ordered the #15 Pho, which had rare steak, meatballs, tendon, and tripe. It was absolutely delicious! Considering the number of customers, the service was lightning-fast. The soup base was spot-on, bursting with flavor, and the portion size was generous. I also highly recommend their fried spring rolls. They’re the perfect sidekick to the meal. And for dessert, I can never pass up their boba drinks. Melon is my absolute favorite flavor.
Tyron C — Google review
Kapa’a Pho is definitely one of the most delicious restaurants on the whole island. Not only do they use the finest, freshest ingredients, but guests can tell that the family truly cares about each and every detail. Our order was the tofu vegetarian pho, which was super fresh and scrumptious. The jalapeños are the best part! And we also got the stir fried vegetables with asparagus. Both dishes were top notch quality and left us quite satisfied. Mahalo nui loa to the wonderful family who puts so much hard work!
Prisma B — Google review
Excellent pho. Very clean, air conditioned, fast service. Egg rolls were very good. The owner was our server - he does a great job. Rivals the best pho we have had anywhere else.
Devan R — Google review
As a pho foodie who grew up near Westminster (Little Saigon in Socal), I was a little skeptical at hearing "authentic Vietnamese food". However, this restaurant surprised me. The pho had good flavour but was just a bit on the salty side but really good overall. We also got Bun Thit Nuong which was also good just a bit saucy. The Pork Chop and Rice which also tasted really good. Overall, service and food was really good and I would recommend it.
H T — Google review
Unexpected pho find! Husband was sick but after eating, he felt rejuvenated. This pho broth is made from bones - clean, light, flavorful. The noodles must be handmade based on the consistency, thin with a little thickness. The pho’s meat to noodle ratio is right amount. This is family business - second generation. Short staffed but worth the wait. Hard working family. We love their food. Thank you
Tiffany D — Google review
The steak pho was great! I would prefer a few more onions, but still great! It wasn't busy at all when we came so we got a seat quick and easy. Chicken fried rice was really good too.
John R — Google review
What a rip-off! We ordered the large bowl and it’s additional $10 for each which doesn’t even look that much compared to a regular bowl. For that price, they only gave one small plate of bean sprouts and basil for 3 people. Broth is also bland. They also messed up one of the ordered bowl. We paid cash and gave us the wrong change twice.

Oasis on the Beach is a charming open-air, waterfront restaurant in Kapaa, Hawaii. It offers a fine dining experience with locally sourced Hawaiian cuisine. Situated near The Outrigger Waipouli Beach, this independently owned establishment boasts a tropical and friendly atmosphere. Guests can savor delicious meals made from over 90% locally-sourced ingredients while enjoying mesmerizing Kauai sunsets and ocean views.
We got the poke for app and wedge salad with half of a short rib and the seared catch (ahi tuna) for entres. All of them were really good! Poke sauce was creamy and delicious. They were very generous with the sweet potato that came with the seared catch. The wedge salad wasn't anything crazy, but I did enjoy the bacon bits and tenderness of the short rib. For dessert we also got the ube lavender gelato which was yum! Our server was great and always checked in on us!

Amazing ambiance right on the water. They had Hawaiian ukulele music which made the experience even more unforgettable. The food was amazing, just wish we would have gone here from the very beginning instead of making it our last stop!
Derrick D — Google review
Experience here was great! A few items caused me to give 4 stars instead of 5. Pros: short rib was phenomenal in flavor. Market lobster was amazing! View was great, right on the ocean. We didn’t have a reservation but got sat in less than 10min. Our server was a total sweet heart and we really enjoyed her. Cons: hostess was not welcoming at all. With that being the first greeting into the restaurant usually they should be more friendly with less attitude. The sauce on the gnocchi with my market lobster was not to my liking but I think that’s more personal preference.
Abbi B — Google review
My husband and I came here while on our honeymoon, and Ryan, the manager, went out of his way to make sure we had the most amazing experience and felt celebrated. From the complimentary toast and dessert to his thoughtful storytelling about each dish, every detail felt special. We loved it so much we came back twice in the same week! The food was not only fresh and delicious but presented beautifully, with picturesque views that added to the magic. This place truly feels like an oasis — the perfect setting for a unique and memorable dining experience. Since they are only open for dinner, I’d recommend making this a special treat for you and your group. We cannot recommend it highly enough!
Megan C — Google review
There is less beach dinning on the island than you'd think. This restaurant is situated right beside the beach. View of the ocean is perfect as is the breeze. Food was pretty good. It won't knock your socks off but it's also very solid. Cocktails were good, especially in the context of the island. Service was particularly friendly as it always is in Hawaii. Worth a spin of you're not budget conscious.
Ryley T — Google review
If you read one review for this restaurant, let it be this one (I run restaurants for a living). The view here is excellent. The service was even better. We had Cody as our waiter and he had some of the best service we’ve ever seen in the Americas. The food: Short rib- 9/10 Grilled catch of the day Marlin- 8/10 Cold water lobster-7/10 (good flavor, overcooked) Clams-8.5/10 Banana spring roll dessert- 9.5/10 The food here is not extremely fast, but it was worth the wait. This is inside of a hotel but at the back end by the beach. Everything was extremely fresh. They source all their ingredients from the island.
Andrew J — Google review
We arrived 5 minutes early and the greeting was sadly surly. Mai Tais were short and they added some amaretto to it... :-( The wontons were skinny and sauce watery. We had so looked forward to repeating our wonderful experience from the last trip, however.... Loud hip hop music was hardly an island feel, so we left.

Hands down the BEST meal I’ve eaten this entire YEAR!!! The head chef and all of staff need a Michelin Star, tbh. I had a Ono Haitian Poke special that had a complex taste profile and the Purple Carrot Cake. I’m already craving more. 111% will be back. Great service, bartenders + management. Fun atmosphere with band for HH

Cafe
Passion Bakery Cafe, nestled in the Kinipopo Shopping Village of Kapaa, is a delightful spot offering an array of freshly baked goods and delectable breakfast options. Renowned for their mouthwatering malasadas, this hidden gem uses locally sourced ingredients to craft an assortment of pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Indulge in island flavors with their Mac Nut Sticky Buns or opt for a unique Croiscone - a fusion of croissant and scone.
Probably one of the best and most affordable breakfast spots on the island. You can get delicious food without breaking the bank. We went twice, and there was always a long line outside, but the service was fast, and the staff were super nice. They have outdoor seating and a bathroom. We tried the malasadas, Mexican and turkey sandwiches, and both were very delicious. It's definitely one of my favorite places on the island.

If you go anywhere on the island for breakfast, you have to come here for the best malasadas ever! Don’t go anywhere else for malasadas, you’ll be wasting your time & your taste buds will be missing out. They make them fresh, and the dough’s texture and flavor are out of this world. Plus the coffee is absolutely delicious. I usually don’t like eating at the same place more than once on vacation, but we came here every single morning because we loved it that much. Definitely a must-visit spot for anyone coming to Kauai!

Oh my God!!!! Every other bakery needs to shut down now.... This place is so off the hook and amazing I cannot wait to write the review for this this is coming from my heart and soul.... One ... First and foremost coffee is absolutely delicious and it was so hot that I think there was nuclear technology behind it to keep it warm because I got a regular coffee and my wife got a latte and both of them were 1500° or more so be careful yet know this is how coffee is supposed to be served.... Number two we got a variety of pastries and breads we got like five items but it felt like we got 10 or 12 let me explain the apple turnover the outside sugar was absolutely amazing The crystals were small yet not too sweet when you bite into the fruit filling that it doesn't hurt your teeth yet you taste the apple and the butter with thez sweet sugary crusty outside which was absolutely amazing it felt like you had three different pastries in your hand seriously trying it with your eyes closed and see if I'm wrong... Number three... The lilliykoi cheesecake absolutely outstanding once again not too sweet not too sour it was absolutely perfect The dough was like phyllo dough yet on the crusty ends it was so light and fluffy but when you bent into it it melted in your mouth it was so structural that you could probably make and model airplane out of it yet when you bit into it it totally melts in your mouth it was absolutely amazing in every way I suggest eating it with your eyes closed so that way you don't get the calories... Yes I am a true foodie My wife is an accomplished Baker and myself I am very good in the kitchen I actually hate going out to dinner do the fact that I can cook better than anyone that I'm getting served by My wife and I both have the same idea but when it comes to treats like this we need to let people know that this here is a special place a total diamond in the rough due to the fact that you're on island and you can get some amazing stuff and like I said here's one of them.... Number four.... Here comes the banana bread we've been sampling banana bread all over the island now this banana bread perfect moisture content it had some kind of sugary crust on the outside of it how did they get that on there? I think the world may never know Plus it had some bananas that were on top of it when they cooked it they tasted like cotton candy somebody put some love into this banana bread it was absolutely outstanding and amazing had to eat some banana bread yesterday that I threw in the garbage after one bite because it was nasty dry no taste I wouldn't even feed it to my dog so I threw it away you guys should really stand up and not walk but run to this bakery because they said at 10:30 they're going to have sourdough bread and I'll be the first one in line to check that stuff out do the fact that everything else was so amazing totally hit it out of the ballpark that if the bread was bad pfft...Wouldn't even care lol ... So I hope this review helps because I don't want to waste any more money on this island I'd rather give it to someone that totally deserved it someone that put their heart and soul into it and this is the place... not a joke... It is totally worth it with every penny maybe I'll even get a chance to meet some of these people because I'm thinking they are angels or some type of bean that is not of this realm okay mahalo see you at 10:30 a.m. for sourdough If you look at the pictures you'll notice everything is gone this was... amazingly delicious 😋

Passion Bakery Cafe is very welcoming and the team members are super friendly. There are many options for breakfast and pastries. We ordered The Hawaiian Breakfast Sandwich, Pineapple French Toast, and a Mac Nut Latte. We also got Turkey Pasto Ma Nut Puff Pastry, Macadamia Nut White Chocolate Cookie, Banana Bread, and a Cinnamon Sugar Coated Ube Malasadas. They are all super delicious.

We heard a lot of great things about this bakery! It took a while to order and get our one malasada. It was pretty good. The donut part was yummy, but not sure if it was worth the price we paid.

Passion Bakery is one of the best breakfast spots in Kauai. The breakfast sandwiches were delicious, the smoothies were so fresh, and the malasadas were absolutely incredible. The lychee flavor was my favorite - the filing tasted like cotton candy. The service was a little slow, but understandably so, since the bakery is quite popular!

Really sad to rate this place with just three stars. I was very excited to try it based on recommendations but I’m thoroughly disappointed with the flavors of the fillings. Tried the mango, lilikoi, ube, matcha, and Bavarian cream. The fruit fillings tasted very artificial. The food coloring used for the mango was jarring as it resembled yellow mustard. The matcha and Bavarian cream were probably the best tasting ones. It took about 12-15 minutes to get the malasadas so I’d recommend placing an order ahead if you’re in a rush. Granted, it was also busy at the time. Only four customers are allowed inside the store at a time.

Vegan restaurant
RUSSELL'S by Eat Healthy Kauai is a charming and laid-back cafe that offers a unique dining experience in a restored home setting surrounded by tropical foliage. The menu features creative and healthy dishes inspired by island produce and seafood, with an emphasis on vegan and gluten-free options. While the restaurant does not serve red meat, it offers a variety of local fish, poultry, vegetarian dishes, pastas, and Italian cuisine.
Make no mistake about it... This place has incredible vegan food. Every dish is vegan so no need to worry when you read the clever names. Prices are on the higher price from our perspective but was mostly worth it. I say mostly because the price with tip was over our budgeted lunch allotted price limit. So chalked it up to an incredible meal just outside our comfort level of pricing and quantity.

We ate breakfast here and food was okayish.. options were minimum. portion sized were pretty small, the tofu veggie scramble did not have a lot of veggies. Veggie puff was too buttery. Price was high. The ambience was good though.

What an adorable place! The young lady who met us at the entrance to take our order was so kind and personable. I had a BLT sandwich, Bruchetta and a Thai Tea. Everything was tasty but the sandwich could have had more bacon, lettuces and tomato considering its price and it was for an adult.

The food, the service and the relaxing, outdoor dining area makes this my favorite restaurant on Kauai. The food is beautifully prepared and served - everything we have ordered has been perfection. The prices are great for such amazing food. Fresh, healthy and so tasty.

We are vegans who only eat at vegan establishments while traveling, otherwise we are cooking in the AirB&B or subsisting from the grocery store. That being said - we were thrilled to find Russell’s on Kauai. This is THE place to go for vegan fare on the island. We stopped here twice on our stay & enjoyed the tempeh “bacon” sandwich & the impossible burger plus coffees & smoothies. The staff’s warm & welcoming demeanor added hugely to the already inviting down-home vibe of the establishment. Russell’s is one of these vegan spots on the planet you’re just so happy to support with your money & time. Thank you Russell’s, we will be back! 💕🖤

Highly recommend this place! So peaceful, friendly, clean, quite and delicious! We ordered fries, two burgers and salad. The best VEGAN burgers that I ever had. Actually, I am vegan 6 years and was in different countries in Europe, Asia and in North America. So believe me, it was so good!!

We came here more than five times during our visit to Kauai. Everything we’ve had here is amazing! Customer service is excellent too. We loved the Tahitian lemonade, garlic focaccia toast, samosas, meatballs, kale salad with cornmeal crusted tofu, chickpea salad wrap, ranch burger and bacon cheese burger, the hamburger curry (that’s my favourite!). And for dessert, I loooved the truffles. I feel more inspired to cook vegan at home now! Thank you for having delicious and healthy vegan options on the island!

Loved this place. Diverse menu. Super vegan friendly. Great outdoor seating (with shade) environment. Love that the shop’s name is honoring the memory of the owner’s canine bff. 🐕 The custom breakfast burrito was perfection. We got it with tempeh bacon and pinto beans for the protein, bruschetta and kale for ‘toppings’ (they go inside), and the raita sauce (which I LOVED). They got sriracha and Tabasco hot sauce for you to use. Banana pancake bites with coco maple syrup were ono too. They’re really sweet on their own without syrup.
