Shopping
Light-filled shopping center with chain retailers & indie boutiques, plus a cineplex & supermarket.
Huge mall with multiple levels. Large food court on the top floor. So many stores at the mall for all shopping needs! I was happy to see a Brow Bar here. Mall was extremely busy - it seems like the place to be in the DR! Great place to shop, eat or just look around. Mall connects to a Jumbo.
Anna G — Google review
This is a really big mall, but if you do not like having to deal with big crowds, this might not be your place. It is hard to find any stores that you might like since there are no signs to tell you anything. You are simply walking for hours until you find something you might like. However, it is a beautiful mall with amazing decorations all year round.
Alberto R — Google review
The place is well lit, a lot of stores from supermarket to clothing to food. Atms and banks too. For those who wish nit to use the escalator, there are elevators. The place is very clean too.
Shashoy C — Google review
Better off saving your money. Most items cost more here than they do in the states. $12 for a biggie bag at Wendy's i thought it was in New York for a second. The place is beautiful, though. The cheapest spot is a supermarket.
Chris S — Google review
The mall was in walking distance to our Airbnb. Has a lot of stores and food court has a lot of options. The kfc was ok. Jamaican kfc is the best. Nice place to hang out and go shopping. The prices weren’t bad and staff were friendly and helpful. We got change at the western union.
Subrena P — Google review
It's one of the better malls, but prices are on the high end.
Frida A — Google review
Huge mall that can compete with any mall in the states, with various stores that you would typically find at malls in the US. Clothes is very pricey though. Food court was awesome! Parking is a little complicated
Riq_ W — Google review
This mall makes me feel like I’m in the United States. It has a wide range of clothing stores, restaurants, playgrounds and much more to enjoy. The mall is super clean and the staffs are always available to guide you where you want to go.

Vibrant shopping plaza with retailers, a supermarket, movie theater & variety of dining options.
We've been to quite a few malls in Santo Domingo and this is one of the favorites! They have exhibits--this time it was a Star Wars LEGO display--right near the Ducati store which is all pretty fun. There are good restaurants in the food court on the top floor and the whole is a place that seems full of life and fun as malls go. It's a great place to hang out and keep cool from the heat.
Michelle M — Google review
Plenty of parking. I felt safe. The plaza is clean and has great places to shop. I'm glad they had a Starbucks.

Kacperosky S — Google review
I like the water fountain ⛲️ outside it gives it a fun vibe to the mall. The time I was there it was on Semana Santa and they had cute decorations in different areas where you can take pictures.
Escogida M — Google review
This shopping mall is huge and is very modern. There is a wide selection of just about everything a person needs for a house. There are many stores selling the latest clothing fashions, shoes, cosmetics and so on. Parking is very good also.

BlueMall Santo Domingo is a premier shopping destination that combines luxury and leisure in an elegant setting. This upscale mall features a diverse selection of designer boutiques, including renowned brands like Louis Vuitton and Rolex, alongside popular retailers such as Zara. Beyond shopping, BlueMall offers a delightful food hall filled with gourmet restaurants and casual cafes, making it perfect for dining after a day of retail therapy. The atmosphere is clean and secure, reminiscent of high-end malls found in the U.S.
The mark is really nice and upscale. Very clean and a lot of shops. I will recommend going. It reminds of me if being in MIA.

We stayed near the Blue Mall. We were their every day. We love it there and will always visit on our return.

A nice mall located in a decent area. Lots of higher end stores. Felt safe in the area.
Kareem S — Google review
This mall is very nice if you're looking for a high-end luxury store experience. The reason for my three star review is the parking is a nightmare and it's not free compared to other nearby malls, and the dining selection is very minimal. They advertise stores and restaurants that aren't even there.
Natasha M — Google review
I've been a few times and it is always a good experience. Many high end and luxury stores. We like to hang out at the Hard Rock. The food is always good there and it is one of our favorite spots in the city.

Blue Mall in Santo Domingo is a prestigious shopping destination boasting an impressive array of stores, including luxury brands like Louis Vuitton and Rolex, as well as popular retailers like Zara. But it's not just about shopping—Blue Mall offers a comprehensive experience with a variety of dining options ranging from gourmet cuisine to casual eateries. Additionally, visitors can enjoy the convenience of on-site amenities such as a hotel, banks for financial transactions, a gym for fitness enthusiasts, and ample parking for hassle-free access. With its upscale ambiance, diverse offerings, and convenient facilities, Blue Mall stands as a beacon of sophistication and indulgence in the heart of Santo Domingo.

We were staying at the Secrets Cap Cana resort and it was a rainy day so they had a shuttle that brings you to the mall for two hours. I was originally concerned about safety but there were no issues. The mall has many high end stores and some eateries. It was great for a couple hours and then back to the resort for dinner.

Love this mall. Lots of high end stores including Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Dolce and Gabana. The new expansion does not disappoint either. Tiffany and Saint Laurent are among some of the new offerings. Of course there are nice restaurants and bars as well. A must visit.

Barra Payán is a popular spot known for its delicious toasted sandwiches and refreshing Dominican batidas or fruit milkshakes. It's a local favorite with an authentic atmosphere and affordable prices. The bakery next door is also worth checking out. Visitors rave about the tasty chicken burger, crispy fries, and the nostalgic feeling of enjoying classic childhood sandwiches. The family-owned business has stood the test of time, offering a taste of traditional Dominican flavors in every bite.
Best street food so far. We had a quick bite and stuck to basic choices. Jamon con queso and Barra Payán special with a fresh fruit drink. A must try for foodies! We ordered from the car and ate in the car making it a great experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My grandpa always used to talk about this place. Whenever I go I feel like in a 50's movie…the food is amazing, and the milkshakes are bombbb. I would recommend the “Lechoza Milkshake” with Carnation since it’s one of my favs.

Great coffee spot right on the water! A spot where you find locals! If a local go there, you know you are at the right place!!
Tatyana S — Google review
The food was amazing. I understand all of the positive reviews. I initially walked past this place looking for another restaurant. They were well lit, with a decent sized crowd; so I decided to stop by. I do not regret my decision at all. I had the chicken burger, and it was fire. The bun was warm and toasted. The toppings were fresh and crispy. The fries were really good too. I’ll have to come back, and try some of their other items.
Marlon U — Google review
Good cheap food but terrible service and the kitchen staff needs to go back to elementary school to learn not to put hot foods in styrofoam, the stupidity is unreal, I hope the managers have a fun time managing these children, the cook put the fries in the container and it melted the container, absolutely disgusting and the staff didn’t do anything about it, terrible service
G T — Google review
The deli turkey meat was not the best quality but it was edible, they have great sandwiches and options of them, great natrual juice/batida selection also. I will return
Ali — Google review
Great! Quick and big sandwiches with delicious juices from tropical fruits with or without milk. Prices are around $4 dollars a sandwich and juice are very reasonable priced. You can tell that they are natural and are fresh cold but without all of it is juice. Excelent breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack!
Laura H — Google review
I was curious about their new "tres golpes" which consists of Mangu with fried; eggs, cheese and salami. Just absolutely amazing. The Mangu was soft and the fried things weren't greasy, also it had onions on top. It is super cheap and it is enough to feed 2 people who don't eat lots. I shared it with a friend... Here I add the picture. Well... They are lot more than sandwiches 😋

American restaurant
Hard Rock Cafe Santo Domingo is an American-style restaurant and bar that offers a high-energy rock atmosphere and classic American cuisine. While some visitors have found the atmosphere to be loud and not conducive for enjoying a meal, others have praised the great food, friendly service, and fun activities such as dancing nights and live concerts. The venue features cool memorabilia, a dance floor, stage for live performances, and a nice view of the city.
Nice ambiance and restauranto to share with large groups, because the place is huge. Suitable to get together with friends. American style food with delicious burgers. Not the best burger but a good option. Well located inside Acropolis Mall.
Claudio T — Google review
We visited this location yesterday for lunch and it was nice. Nothing stood out as either amazing or bad. The food was probably the only thing that can be improved, especially the chicken tenders and steak. Otherwise, this HRC was ok.
Jay M — Google review
The venue itself is sorta nice, with a lively atmosphere and a great view, which makes it an appealing spot to hang out or bring visitors. Customer service was decent, about average when compared to other places in the Dominican Republic, but nothing particularly outstanding. The main issue lies in the food. It really needs improvement. The chicken tenders looked like they had been cut in a rush completely uneven and not very appetizing. The salad was even more disappointing, with poorly chopped veggies that looked more like something thrown together for a rabbit than a proper dish. For the high prices on the menu, you’d expect much better quality and presentation. Overall, it’s an OK place to visit for the vibe and the view, but if you’re going for the food, you might end up underwhelmed. Hopefully they can step up their kitchen game to match the iconic name and the nice setting.
John A — Google review
The place is good , outside is awesome! Got some drinks, old fashion was horrible, does not known how to make it. Other drink were good, they don’t server as it shows in the menu. Food is ok. At last they made a good drink Tequila sweet and sour 👍🏼
Rajesh V — Google review
The food is good, not the best out there. Nice place to visit once or twice. The view is awesome. The menu is expensive compared to other places but, you have to consider where you are, inside a mall. The menu is not clear enough for some dishes. What you order and what you receive sometimes is not what you expect. Coco Mojito is nice and the customer service is good, I would say normal.
Robert G — Google review
They used to have a great location. Now in their current location they look very untidy, not professional. Only the brand name remains. They didn’t even have pins in the shop.
Sait O — Google review
We all know how cool Hard Rock locations are, this one is no different. The restaurant decorations are all about rock and roll, but they kinds lost the vibe, because the place is too bright and there is a lot of unused space, there a staircase that makes it look like a disco place. Besides decoration, i dont know if it was due to Covid19 or what, there was not enough personnel, but that was no issue, there weren't that many people either. The beers where not cold...the menu is short and it doesnt leave you with many options. I have to admit adding an italian menu was a good update, but the italian menu is also falling short. They can definitely do better with the menu. The personnel is really nice, no exception. For me, its not recommended as a restaurant, more like a lounge or a place to have couple of drinks and chill for a while.

Maison Kreyol

Haitian restaurant
Maison Kreyol is a vibrant taste of Haiti located in the heart of Santo Domingo. The restaurant offers a delicious introduction to Haitian Creole food, with highly spiced and seasoned flavors that are unreservedly bold. Guests can enjoy dishes like akra (spiced taro root fritters) and grilled goat with black and white rice, accompanied by refreshing fresh juices. The upbeat music and authentic artworks create a lively atmosphere, perfect for a date or group gathering.
Usually, I am very hesitant to give reviews but here we go. First of all, the floor is the first thing I look and it was spotless the tables look like they were brand new and the atmosphere felt like I was in a food restaurant for a fancy spa. The service was on point. Immediately, I entered the place (there are 2 doors ensure you don’t stay on the first one) the ladies came to me and told me I could sit wherever I wanted. Then, they hand me over the menu (they don’t have the QR code option and the prices are taxes NO included). I was trying to get lamb/sheep but didn’t know which one to get. The lady explained that the first one was more grill style, the second and third option were similar just that the second was without bone and the third one was with bone and it had more moist. I decided for the second option because I was curious about the side sauce she explained and also I am not a huge fan of bone. Honestly, to me it was a very great portion I had the “Tazzo Festivo” and wow the first impression was the lamb/sheep was soft and although it felt little bit dry with the side sauce it was the perfect combination of texture, flavor and a little bit of heat more like “picante”. I was scared at first that maybe I won’t be able to handle the heat but in a scale out of ten was like 5/10 in terms of heat/picante. For the texture, I will say 8.5/10, flavor without sauce a 7/10 but with the sauce I will say wow/10 ahaha. I like the protagonism that it gets with the sauce (ensure the side sauce is available before ordering so you get the full experience). It came with something similar to coleslaw but little bit drier but sweeter so it balance out the heat from the dish making the heat go away after 30 seconds of ingesting it. Also, I think with tostones (green fried plantians) was a great addition to the dish even though the lady suggested the Djon rice that (is like green beans, and she says most people love that with this dish, etc). Honestly, I am more of letting the meat be the main thing so I didn’t want to have a rice that maybe could be little too much for me and yup it worked as I expected and probably exceeded my expectations. Also, I ordered a passion fruit juice and it was very strong in terms of flavor and low in sugar so if you are fan of good quality Caribbean juice go for it so worth it. In my case, I love it but knowing the average juice drinker it might feel is like 3/10 in terms of sugar but to me was exactly how I make it at home and for the strength and flavor of the passion fruit 10/10. So, in a nutshell; if you want high end quality lamb/sheep you name it and to have a flavor that makes your mind blow away with a little bit of heat like “picante” this is it so look no further. To mention, they used to be located in La Zona Colonial but they move to the Pedro Enrique Ureña avenue to have more parking space, etc. I think this was a good move cuz now people have more transportation options to get there and the area is very quiet so if you want to have a relaxing meal at lunch or dinner, this is it. Also, for now their phone number only works on what’s app because they are waiting for the wireless service provider to come and install it so if you are reaching out download WhatsApp and call them over there or directly on Instagram, also works. Place was very neat, their uniforms were spotless and the service overall is a MUST for me to bring family, friends, etc in the future. One last thing, they mentioned they have an event room so if you would like ask about that you never know what will come out of that. Go ahead and have your own magestic Hatian culinary top not experience. A pro tip: for the tazo it has a good amount of meat feel free to request for additional tostones or maybe had tostones and DJON rice. The prices might be 15% higher that the average restaurant however for the quality is so WORTH IT. For the Tazzo dish and pasion fruit I spent around $1,728 DOP that in USD will be $30 USD so no bad at all. And you know you decide how much you want to tip.

Yesterday, My friend and I went to this restaurant to get some food. It was our first time trying Haitian Food. We did a take away and i didn’t know what to get so i asked the waitress to recommend something for me to try. The food was tasty and I like the decor of the restaurant. It look different from the pictures online. Maybe they renovated the restaurant.

Of all the Haitian restaurants I've visited and tasted their food here in the Dominican Republic, "Maison Kreyol" is one of the best, if not the best. It's one of the few with parking. The presentation is original, the food is very good and the space is super clean. The setting is attractive and quiet, which makes it easy to enjoy the food in peace and quiet, and also to relax. Can't wait to back there.

My first time tasting Haitian food not made by my Dominican-Haitian lady and I must say, this place is fantastic. It's a must visit. A dish I personally had with the pork and rice was as succulent as can be! When I'm in the zonal colonial area again, I'm definitely visiting here again. The atmosphere is also nice and the staff are attentive and welcoming.

I came to this restaurant with my Haitian wife to try Haitian food for the first time. I had a pleasant experience here. The service was top notch and the food was very tasty. I had the goat with white rice and black beans. Mmmmmm very delicious! I highly recommend this establishment if you are looking for good Haitian food.

We went there on a Wednesday for an early dinner. It was not crowded at all. Our waiter was very nice and took great care of us. We had akra and lemon juice to start followed by the diri djondjon, goat in sauce and fried plantains. Everything was great but the rice was excellent. The portions were generous and we even had to pack leftovers. We loved dining while listening to Haitian music. We will definitely be going back. One of the best haitian food I've ever had.

Don Pepe, a renowned restaurant in the Dominican Republic, has been serving authentic Spanish cuisine for over 30 years. It is highly regarded as one of the top dining establishments in Santo Domingo. The menu features a variety of traditional Spanish dishes alongside international options, with standout items such as grilled beef and an extensive selection of seafood. Additionally, the restaurant boasts an impressive collection of over 500 types of Spanish red wines.
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Santo Domingo. If you want to experience classic Spanish cuisine with a great atmosphere, professional and friendly staff, and very good food and wine - You’re here at the Right Place. We often come just for a nice bottle of red and a cold platter, it is great. Don Pepe is always a good choice.

We visited this restaurant for dinner and were delighted with the recommendations provided by our friendly bar servers. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, and I was particularly fond of the crab-filled avocado. While there were many aged meats in the restaurant , they weren’t prominently featured on the menu . Overall, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We would definitely return to this restaurant in the future.

Jardin Verde is a delightful eatery that serves scrumptious vegetarian dishes. The establishment has a homely atmosphere, resembling a cozy house. With a wide variety of delectable options on the menu, including tasty Korean cuisine, this restaurant caters to diverse palates. It's worth mentioning that in the Dominican Republic, it is customary to give a mandatory 10% tip for the business and then an additional gratuity directly to the server.

All were absolutely unbelievable, especially all of the mushrooms (there were some in the noodles,) the sauces, and the egg rolls. Will definitely be eating here again! All dishes + 2 frozen lemonades were DR$1820.

Very good healthy Asian food. Prices are very good and you can either order for one or to share since plates are fairly large. Establishment is relativley small, and there is a lot of echo when two or more tables are occupied, but food is so good that does not deserve a star less. Keep in mind this business does not take credit cards, only cash, and does not serve meat. One more thing: ask for them to show you what they sell. I recommend the dumplings and the bread, they are very easy to cook at home.

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Sambil Santo Domingo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Mercado Modelo. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Sambil Santo Domingo is a modern and expansive mall located in the heart of the city, offering a diverse array of shops, dining options, and entertainment facilities. Families with kids will find plenty to do here, from exploring brand-name stores like Nike and Aldo to enjoying activities such as an aquarium, play area, video games, 3D dinosaurs exhibit, laser tag arena, trampoline park called Summit and inflatable area for kids.
Wasn't expecting this mall to be that big. I was amazed after going there. Soo many things to do. There's a huge food court, there's bowling, aquarium etc. Highly recommend checking it out
Nate N — Google review
Sambil It's a nice mall right in the center of Santo Domingo. It's a big mall with well-known retail stores and a pretty large food court. There is enough entertainment for the children, a cinema, and plenty of food places to have a good lunch or dinner. Also, there is plenty of parking, and it is easy to access with public transportation. Highly recommended.
Gioconda V — Google review
It’s great for shopping because it has a lot of things there. And really nice spot for children to play and family to interact with kids
Meenakshee B — Google review
It’s a great mall with lots of attractions and things to do. Parking is quite hectic a little bit more than I’ve experienced elsewhere. The store selection is good and it is large enough to handle the crowd of people who flock to it.
Envizion P — Google review
First time visiting. This is a big mall, organized, clean and with everything you might need. Will visit again.
Cesar R — Google review
I recently visited this mall and I was really impressed! It’s big, beautiful, and perfect for families and kids. There’s so much to do and see, and even though it was packed, the space is so large that it never felt too crowded. Only thing I found a bit confusing was the parking lot — it took a minute to figure out. Other than that, I highly recommend this mall for a fun day out!

Summit Trampoline Park is a thrilling destination in Santo Domingo that offers an array of high-speed thrills and family-friendly fun. It's a unique and enjoyable activity suitable for both kids and adults, providing endless entertainment for all. The park features various attractions, including trampolines and virtual reality experiences at Vr Virtual Xperience. While the trampoline area is well-maintained with attentive staff ensuring safety, there are suggestions for more options especially for little kids.
Good variety of stores and eating places. Good DJ music on weekend when visited. Unique aquarium at entrance.

Great place for the kids. However, they need to work on their music choices. They don't filter them and at times inappropriate songs make their way through.

Really good for family and friends and very enjoyable for both kids and adults. They have a rule of only 1 customer per trampolin which is not always possible because either trampolines are big enough for more than one person or they let in more people than trampolines available.

Theaters
Casa de Teatro is an arts center that showcases a variety of cultural events and plays. The venue features a bohemian-colonial style space, including a theater with an outdoor courtyard and an art gallery at the entrance. It is widely regarded as the best theater in the country, offering impressive shows and a wonderful experience. However, some improvements can be made such as online ticketing and onsite beverage offerings.
It was my first experience attending a concert in this venue, listening to the Nationa Symphony Orchestra concert to high schoolers so they can enjoy and learn to love classical music. It was great to see my nephew and godchild conduct the Orchestra with so much professionalism. I'm very proud of Santy Rodriguez. Becoming a Director is a dream for his mother and the family. Let's continue providing these free concerts to the young population in the Dominican Republic so they are enticed to follow in the members of the Symphony Orchestra's footsteps.
Albis M — Google review
This is a beautiful theater in the middle of a beautiful garden landscape. Santo Domingo should be proud of this building. It's worth arriving early for an event just so add to be able to wander the three levels of the foyer to see the displays. There are opera costumes and ballet costumes, many pictures of famous performers, and a selection of sculpture and paintings, all very beautiful.
Michelle M — Google review

Mercado Modelo in Santo Domingo is a historic market offering a wide variety of local handicrafts, from amber jewelry to wood carvings. The market has been around for ages and is known for its diverse range of products. Visitors can find everything they desire at the numerous stalls, where bargaining is common practice due to varying prices. It's recommended to take a tour of the market before making any purchases to ensure you get the best deal.
Well yes get your gifts, knick knacks and goodies at FREDDYS as you come up those stairs to the left. The prices are unbeatable ! And the guys are so thoughtful, helpful and overall nice. It's a must see and must buy cause if you can't find it there then it doesn't exist ! Note: their jewelry is beautiful!

Nice artisan market. More of the same like most artisan markets but you can find some hidden gems! Like nice Haïtian paintings for a great price.Look closely and be patient.
Christelle P — Google review
I've wanted to go here for awhile and finally had the chance to visit. First off, you can park along the streets surrounding the block with the market if you can find a place but on the north side of the block there's a covered, shaded parking garage that costs 200 pesos. Good deal. There are fruit stands around the outer perimeter that are fun to see, selling herbs and spices, fruits, and meats. There are a few stores selling local artisanal items just across the street from the north entrance. Inside the alleys are tight and while there is no AC there are fans that circulate the air and keep it from being super hot. It's warm but doable. The stalls are very similar, selling larimar and amber pieces, jewelry in coral and shell, with clothing, purses, caps, bags, and various local crafts and items. I had been looking for higuero bowl and found several that were perfect and well priced. It's a great place for photos, interesting local tourist things, and just a general time to browse and enjoy the local items. Would recommend, it's free to enter.
Michelle M — Google review
Has some good stuff for a reasonable price if you’re hunting for souvenirs but it is very very overwhelming with vendors approaching you from every direction. It’s not different from the tourist stores in the zona colonial just cheaper so it really is up to you.
Francesca M — Google review
This market has so much potential but is currently pretty sad. It’s nearly all just repeat tourist souvenirs. Every vendor is selling almost the same stuff and they are all desperate to make a sale. This market should be diversifying, selling foods, fruits, art, crafts in addition to souvenirs. If they do some work on it then it can be a great tourist attraction else it’s pretty meh. We walked through it quickly and were fairly disappointed
BackpackingAndy — Google review
Not for the faint of heart. Be prepared for hard sales pitch at every stall. Some good finds if you're willing to say no thank you ALOT.
Lisa D — Google review
This is a great place to buy all your local gifts. You can also buy MamaJuana. When you go there visit Kleydi gift shop and ask for Antonio. He will treat you right and give you the best deal.
Angel M — Google review
Its an oldest tourist market, there are many gifts shops over there, they sale souvenirs, pictures, cigars rum mamajana, and diferentes local produce, hand made article, like, rood mask, a lot of tourist go to shopping there, if you go for visit or excursions to Santo Domingo, don't forget to visit this beautiful old Artistic market

Spanish restaurant
Nestled in the Gazcue neighborhood, El Gallego is a charming Spanish-Galician restaurant housed in a former home. Whether you prefer dining on the poolside terrace or indoors, this eatery offers an exquisite menu featuring Spanish seafood and meat options. While it can get busy, especially during weekend lunches, making a reservation is recommended. The paellas are particularly delightful and the overall food quality is exceptional. Although service experiences may vary, the ambiance is pleasant and inviting.
One of my all time favorite places. Food is one of the best. Very fast service.
Jose A — Google review
A Spanish style restaurant with good food in general but be careful because the prices are very high. I like their two outside areas but badly in both of them smoking 🚬 is allowed 😭
Manuel G — Google review
Paella Marinara! I'll be back to try other dishes; the Paella will be hard to beat. Whether you dine inside, out front amongst the trees, or in back by the pool, you'll find something you'll like. If you can't decide, sit at the bar until inspiration hits you!
Shag S — Google review
What a place for Spanish flair. Here you have your choice of fine dining or light, energy filled outdoors with night with live music... The food and tapas, outstanding. There is the obvious great selection of wines. Go with friends and have an amazing time.
Polibio D — Google review
Live music on Saturday night. It's an Earth & Sea type of restaurant and one of best representators of the true Spanish cuisine. Everything is excellent here, although if I were you I'd take the Sea food, because I feel that's where they have a stronger menu. The portions are also very generous, so don't think because you're paying about $10-15 bucks for a plate you'll be able to eat it all! 😂🍽️
Maxmiliano L — Google review
The food here is great, with lots of variety and a consistent quality every time I go. The warmth of the staff, even in the weeds, makes this place stand out. I am partial to the outdoor terrace in the the front, it's my favorite spot on the premises. If you go, make sure you order a Tarta de la Viña for dessert. I suggest you reserve it as soon as you sit, they tend to run out fast.
Winton D — Google review
A quick lunch here. I had pulpo gallego, Caldo gallego. Great food quality. I like this Caldo gallego very much.
Robert L — Google review
Excellent choice of traditional Spanish food in the city of Santo Domingo. The restaurant is located in a charming Casona from the 50s, which retains its original architecture and is surrounded by beautiful vegetation of centuries-old trees and is located with an excellent visual in front of the square of culture, has outdoor seating and interior. The acces is via Av. Maximo Gomez or George Washington. The Menu offers the classics from the spanish cusine: tapas, paellas, fidua, lamb, seafood... Medium price quality ratio.

Restaurant
Nestled in the heart of Santo Domingo, Mesón de Bari is a culinary haven that showcases the vibrant flavors of Dominican cuisine. Known for its delectable catibias—savory pastries stuffed with beef, chicken, cheese, or seafood—this restaurant also offers a gourmet twist on traditional dishes. Although currently undergoing renovations at its original location, it has relocated just a few blocks away across from Hotel Novus.
This place is awesome. The chivo guisado was one of the best things I've eaten this year. Service is great, really nice with family and friends.
Thomas H — Google review
Santo Domingo has long been a culinary playground, but finding a gem like Meson de Bari is a true delight. This new location offers the perfect ambiance for a leisurely lunch, a serene escape from the bustling city. The star of the show was the eggplant stuffed with lambi. At first glance, it resembled a classic lasagna, but the flavors were a delightful surprise. The Caribbean heart of the dish, infused with Italian culinary techniques, created a symphony of taste that was both familiar and exotic. It was a culinary adventure that left me craving more. If you’re seeking a unique dining experience in Santo Domingo, Meson de Bari is an absolute must-try.
Doc M — Google review
Ambience is nice. Really makes you feel like you're in historical Santo Domingo. A bit overpriced for the food portions. The goat "creole sauce" was so salty, I had to order rice just to be able to eat the dish. Entrees came with sides.
Jeneen G — Google review
Really nice spot in the Colonial Zone for just hanging around. Very affordable if you come from the States. Taste was alright. Meat are cooked to different tenderness, which is a little weird.
XY Y — Google review
Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price and more than 40min waiting sitting on the table to get good. I had a bad experience at this restaurant and would not recommend it. We were two people and ordered three dishes: a steak, a fish and rice dish, and a goat meat stew to share. The portions were underwhelming, especially the goat stew, which came with just three small pieces of meat and mostly large bones. The ambiance was just okay—no air conditioning, which made it a bit uncomfortable, but it had a casual and lively vibe. However, the service was very slow; we waited over 40 minutes to get our food. What really stood out was how overpriced everything was. We paid 90 euros for three basic dishes, two beers, and one juice (which was not fresh and definitely not worth ordering). For comparison, a similar meal in Spain would cost no more than 20 euros per person. Also be aware of the 28% tax added to the bill, which makes it even more expensive. Overall, this place was not worth the money or the wait. There are definitely better options out there.
Adrian A — Google review
The food is ok, nothing spectacular but the ambiance and setting are beautiful, very calm and relaxing. It's a little bit overpriced for the food itself, but the overall experience is good. The beef dishes are better than shrimp and fish.
Van N — Google review
The restaurant has a beautiful courtyard. I ordered conch stew with fried plantain. It was good but not with the $24 price. They don’t give you a drink menu so you have to ask for the price if you care.

Outdoor food joint. Good to hang out with friends before and/or after a night out. Huge menu actually to big for my own taste, but I guess its done like that to please most of tge people. The menu consists basically in different selections of hamburgers, hot dogs, French fries and "premium" cuts. The specialty of the house and my recommendation is the Bacon Cheeseburger. The prices are good. Don't expect a fancy place. Most of the seating is on the sidewalk.
Ellis Z — Google review
Quality has been lost over the past year. I won't be coming back, sadly. This used to be one of my favorite places and it makes me sad when they lose loyal clients over bad service and quality. They used to be the best.
Tomás R — Google review
I've always found that for any casual street food, dinner specifically, La Markesima would make you right your choice. Very cheap prices and an amazingly tasty menu combine into the perfect choice for satisfying most appetites. Particular I would recommend Full de to hot dog and Doble full burger as an option for enjoying the best available on the whole menu. Cheeseburgers and monster fries are some of the popular options you'll find the crowd asking for. Parking there tends to be complicated sometimes, specially Thursdays when they mostly have special offers. You won't waste your time or money by picking this place, I kid you not.
