Gardens
Jardin Botanique de Deshaies, located in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, is a sprawling 7-hectare botanical garden that showcases the natural beauty of the region. With 15 distinct gardens, including lily ponds and manmade waterfalls flowing into brooks under wooden bridges, this family-friendly attraction offers an immersive experience with over 1,000 species of tropical flowers and plants.
Very lovely place, wheelchair accessible but a lot up and downhills. Discount for handicapped. Normal tour up to 90 minutes at least for one turn. A lot of beautiful plants and flowers. Bird cage a must, don't forget to buy food at the entrance. Wheel chair at park recommended, the have extra brakes for the person pushing it.

These gardens were so beautiful. It was fun to see such a variety and also I enjoyed how well labeled all the plants were so you could know what you were looking at. There were great photo opportunities and some good views. I especially loved seeing the orchids they grafted into the trees! I would definitely recommend visiting here!
Brittney A — Google review
A must see! An incredible amount of plants from all over the world. Beautiful Parakeets set in their own space. The design of the property was well thought out with the perfect photo ops. $17.50euros/pp, a free shuttle service in the area. The restaurant was lovely, although we were not hungry at the time, we opted for a lovely fruit salad that was shared ($10euros), and it was very good. Allow 2 hrs for just the grounds then more for dining.
Debra W — Google review
A wonderful experience, great variety of exotic plants and trees in a well cared for setting. The free shuttle bus from Deshaies town was much appreciated and the restaurant serves great food with a beautiful view. Highly recommended.
Peter W — Google review
Well tended and well organised botanic garden with plenty of experience value. The chance to feed rainbow lorikeets, carp and goats is likely to be the highlight here (feed is available at the entrance) It takes around two hours to complete the one-way pathway which snakes through various thematic zones, including the stops for feeding animals and a coffee break. The landscaping is extremely elaborate, with streams, waterfalls and outcrops giving panoramic views across the surroundings. The gardens are a standard excursion for cruise ships, so after 10am they start to get crowded. Long queues for the toilets, café and entrance form even in low season.
Graham B — Google review
Excellent and entertaining botanical garden. Just perfect size. Takes a bit more than an hour to walk through the guided path.
Olli S — Google review
A nice place, with lots of tropical plants. The bonus of feeding kois, parrots and goats was a nice surprise. There are recorded videos for some of the spots that you can access with a QR code. I haven’t tried, but I’m wondering if there is wifi available for people while visiting the gardens. The boutique has lots of souvenirs to account for all tastes and budgets.
Delia I — Google review
Absolutely lovely. Well laid out and lots of striking and interesting plants and trees. The path is mostly shaded too. The lorikeets and flamingos are fabulous! Highly recommend!

Nestled in the lush vegetation near the Botanical Garden of Deshaies, Au jardin des colibris Ecolodge&SPA offers a laid-back retreat with cottages and cabins. The accommodations feature well-equipped kitchens, romantic outdoor terraces, and private parking spots. Guests can enjoy a 24-hour pool and free WiFi while being surrounded by beautiful gardens that create a jungle-like atmosphere.
Au Jardin des Colibris was a great place to stay and a good base to start trips at the top part of Basse-Terre. It is even possible from here like we did to book a Volcano tour (which we did with Pelican Safari). When you arrive there is a bit of a bumpy road but don't be alarmed because once you get passed that you arrive at a beautiful location. We loved our stay and the staff is so friendly and always willing to help out. The staff on top of the quiet location and the availability of everything we needed made this place one of our best stays on Guadeloupe.
Marcel M — Google review
We spent 2 delightful weeks in Cabane aux Etoiles. The situation was beautiful- among the trees in a peaceful corner of the forest close to the Botanical Gardens. Time out on our terrace was a chance to relax and unwind and wait for the birds and anoles to visit us. And the location was perfect for indulging our guilty pleasure, "Death in Paradise" as it is just outside the village of Deshaies which doubles up as "Honore" in the TV series. Best of all was the kindness and attention of Sandie, Theo and the team who looked after us throughout. We dream of returning one day soon.

Loved our stay here. Staff is incredibly kind and the place is rather magical. Don't be alarmed by the approach, once you get there, it's lovely! Five minute drive to the prettiest beach on the island.

A perfect spot to stay if you want to visit Basse Terre! The location is magical and the hosts are super welcoming. Neither my husband nor myself speak French but that was not an issue 😊 we got excellent tips for the excursions and saw many hummingbirds from our cottage. I highly recommend this place

We had a lovely stay in the jungle lodge 3 in the nature with a very nice few. They arranged dinner for the first night and breakfast for the next morning. The service is excellent. The staff is very friendly and has some nice recommendations. After we had to check out we were allowed to stay and use the pool area. We even got extra towels. Thank you Carla for everything 😊
Lamis A — Google review
Very lush and tropical setting, all of the accommodations are spread out and secluded, very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Had great week here with wife. Plenty of hummingbirds and other birds.
John A — Google review
Lovely place. Super staff. They are helpful and English speakers. We stayed in a wood house. It was very romantic. We loved the outdoor terrace and the shower. Kitchen is well equipped. If it is rainy weather be ready to feel a little bit cold and wet....but it is not the accomodation's "mistake". The garden is wonderful, just like you are in the jungle. Pool was little bit cold, but we preferred the sea. Every house has a private parking place. Our friend recommended this place. We did not regret it. We loved it. Thanks a lot!
Eva V — Google review
This place is truly outstanding. Close to Deshaies, one of the nicest towns of Basse Terre, but hidden in a rainforest-like setting. We booked the Secret Lodge, which had a terrace with incredible views over the Deshaies bay. The apartment was well equipped, and the owners are super helpful and friendly. They can lend all sorts of equipment (e.g. for snorkeling, or child's toys), help with booking activities and it's very easy to communicate with them on WhatsApp (they speak English too). We saw all sorts of birds, including hummingbirds. I would definitely come back here in the future.

Tropicalsub Diving - Club de plongée

Diving center
Store
TropicalSub Diving - Club de plongée is a gem nestled in the charming fishing village of Deshaies, located on the northwest coast of Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. This delightful diving center operates year-round from Monday to Saturday, welcoming divers from 8 am to 6 pm. The atmosphere here is relaxed and friendly, making it an ideal spot for both beginners and seasoned divers alike. The team at TropicalSub is dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.
My wife and I had a great first diving experience with Eric. He explained everything to us in detail, and we dived with him in pairs after each other. Eric was supportive and helpful during our dive. He guided us in the underwater wonderland. We absolutely recommend going with him. Maggy is also super kind and nice as she manages everything beside diving.
László K — Google review
Tropicalsub Diving is my favourite dive club in the north of Basse-Terre. Eric is very knowledgeable, safety oriented, yet easy-going and fluent in English. His boat is very comfortable and convenient. No need to carry tanks, as they are already on the boat. The dive sites are pretty shallow but full of fish (perfect for photographers), making it easy to do three dives in a day and get the most out of your stay. Highly recommended.
Hetty G — Google review
I was nervous as this was my first ever scuba dive after getting my PADI license at an quarry near where we live. My scuba partner and I worked with Eric primarily to set up arrangements, and with Nicholas on the first two days, and Eric on the third. Our experience was outstanding. On the first two days, Nicholas was very attentive to making sure we had our equipment set up correctly, including correcting some beginner (polite way of saying embarrassing for me) mistakes. On the boat before we went in, he described the parameters for the dive: the path we were going to take, the signals to use to let him know about our tank utilization, how to know when to turn around, and making sure we did the required safety stop at the end. Attached is a photo of him checking in on the group. In the water, he pointed out various interesting creatures to see (turtles, flounder, lobster, shrimp, mackerel, eels, porcupinefish, stingray, etc). He helped us monitor our tank usage, and made sure that we did the safety stop (not going up too fast, nor heading too low). On the third day, we swam with Eric. He was equally attentive and helpful. By this point, I was much more comfortable in the water and had gotten better at managing my position (e.g. buoyancy). He showed me a different way to descend that allowed me to swim with significantly less weight than I had been using during my PADI training (I weigh 145 lbs and was diving with 13 lbs in the ocean; in fresh water (less dense), I had been using 16 lbs -- normally, you use 4-5 lbs more in salt water than you do in fresh, but I was using 3 lbs less!). Eric was a great guide as well, pointing out many of the animals around us. I would definitely recommend this dive shop to anyone heading to Guadeloupe.
Christopher D — Google review
Eric, Maggi and team provided a 6 dive PADI advanced open water certification to us on our holidays whilst in Guadeloupe. Over 3 days we dig a wreck dive, deep dives, worked on buoyancy, rescue and a drift dive. Excellent tuition, great helpers and tailored instruction to our needs within the course structure. Brilliant to meet Canadians, French, German and English divers - great community. 5 star experience. Big thank you to everyone
Paul B — Google review
Eric and his team are fantastic! Really can not recommend enough! Eric took me through my padi open water diving, He took the time to explain in English And introduced me to an incredible underwater world
Mike P — Google review
Fantastic 6 dives AOW as a couple, including reserve Cousteau and shipwreck with Guillaume and Vincent. Very professional, fun and calm team, give a lot of attention to divers. The boat is confortable. It is wonderful to dive with passionate people that can show and explain a lot about marine fauna and flora. Thanks to Guillaume's guidance, I learnt to see many more small things. Warmly recommended!!!
Pauline L — Google review
Excellent scuba diving club. Nicolas was excellent with my daughter’s first dive as well as fantastic with my wife and I who were diving for the first time in nearly 10 years. Look forward to diving with Nicolas the next time we visit Guadeloupe.

Excellent dive school with a very nice, professional instructor. Eric is always friendly and can explain everything very well. The material and the boat are excellent. I took the rescue course and my three children had the advanced open water course. I can truly recommend this school!

Restaurant
Paradise Kafé Baie de Deshaies is a charming spot located in the sleepy village of Deshaies, framed by lush green hills and boasting the deepest bay on the Caribbean coast. It's a popular stop for cruisers due to its semi-sheltered bay, making it an ideal starting point for island hopping. The café offers a typical Caribbean drinking experience just meters from the shore, with a picturesque location atop the craggy shoreline near Plage La Grande-Anse.
Another great spot to eat, drink and watch the sun set in Deshaies. The drinks are very good here - as should be, the rum punch is excellent. The food here was also surprisingly good. Asian influences abound, and the menu is a beautiful selection of well thought through and executed dishes, that delight the taste buds (and fill the stomach!). Its very clean and fresh flavours. There is a Tapas menu of mainly fried dished that are great to share while consuming the local rum. The staff are very helpful and happy to serve. English may not be their first language - but they made us feel at home as we attempted to communicate what we wanted. Prices are a little higher than most ... but all in all worth it! Well worth a visit for a drink at sunset and you may just find yourself there for a lot longer and ordering many drinks and some very good food.
Paul S — Google review
A pleasant surprise. Very good appetizers and main courses. A wide selection of drinks and reasonable prices. The menu could be more varied to make it worth coming back more than once or twice.

Amazing beach front restaurant. Enjoyed a cocktail whilst the sun went down (feet in the sand!). The food is inspired by Thailand and Vietnam - absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

I did not have a reservation, they found me a place, for one, asked me if I could be less than an hour. Perfect! They spoke excellent English,( I have very poor French) they have an English menu. I had a wonderful rum drink with six different fruit juices that has a wonderful kick. The food was well prepared, well presented and delicious. The servers are friendly and helpful. So much so I have an actual reservation so I can watch the sunset over the harbour tomorrow.

This place was an absolute gem – easily one of the best spots in town! We came here several times during our stay and each visit was just as magical as the last. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, the staff super friendly, and the food and desserts are simply delicious. But the real highlight? The sunsets. Somehow, even on rainy days, the skies would clear just in time for an unforgettable sundown. It became our go-to place to unwind, enjoy great drinks, and soak in the atmosphere. Can’t recommend it enough – we’ll definitely be back!

Port de Deshaies is a charming marina with a predominantly French atmosphere, complemented by some English influence. The area is known for its early closing times, but visitors appreciate the helpful and friendly nature of the staff.

Restaurant
La Kaz du douanier, which means 'House of the Customs Official' in Creole, is a charming wooden shack that offers delightful homestyle cooking in a cozy setting. Although it lacks seaside views, this restaurant has earned a reputation for serving the most incredible food in Basse-Terre. The staff members are not only proficient in English but also display utmost professionalism and politeness with a trendy flair.
We throughly enjoyed this casual but superb restaurant in Deshaies. We called for reservations the same day and were offered the choice of a 6:45 or 8:30 pm seating. Service was excellent and we shared our appetizer and entrees with no room left over for dessert! We split the “féroce d’avocat” which was incredibly flavorful, and then the “thon tartare” and the “poisson frais du jour” which was dorade, accompanied by delicious frites. We would have gone back to this restaurant again if we had stayed a bit longer in Guadeloupe. A real treasure and worth making a reservation!

We had a wonderful evening the atmosphere , the service and last but by no means least the food was amazing. We have already booked for next week.
Sarah P — Google review
La Kaz du Douanier really impressed us. The menu blends French and Caribbean influences beautifully, and there was a great selection of local fish — fresh and full of flavour. Every dish we tried was cooked with real care. Add to that the genuinely friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere, and you’ve got a spot that’s easy to recommend. A lovely place for a laid-back but high-quality meal in Deshaies.
AlistairF — Google review
This was hands down our favorite dinner of our week in Guadeloupe. It was an adorable restaurant with a dining room featuring local art and little tables tucked away on the wrap-around porch. The menu was well-thought out and had many delicious offerings. The staff and owners were friendly, service was fast and food was delicious. For non-French speakers, one of the owners was very friendly in helping explain the menu in English and answer any questions we had. Parking was easy in a large free lot down the street. As there are a number of wild cats on the island, they do make themselves at home and beg for food at your table, so be warned of that. Do not miss this stop!
Shelley K — Google review
Food was divine! We loved it. Staff is friendly. Make sure to reserve in advance

Professional staff. They speak English. Menu is in English too. Food was delicious, say thanks to the chef! The place is tiny, but have a lots of table. If you want to eat, go early...later will be full. Atmosphere is unique, for me Caribbean feeling a lot.

MAHINA is a renowned restaurant located in the colorful town of Deshaies, just a short five-minute car ride away. The restaurant offers a variety of delicious dishes such as Pave du Thon and Filet de daurade, served promptly within ten minutes. The service at MAHINA is exceptional, with polite staff and reasonable prices. Additionally, the restaurant is known for its mocktail marina, offering alcohol-free beverages that are just as enjoyable as their alcoholic counterparts.
Great spot upstairs with a very well priced, world class ‘Mozzarella’ Pizza (margarita with olives). Amazing view over the boat anchorage on sunset and you may need a reservation! You cannot go past Deshaies without trying out this memorable spot

My friend and I really liked this place for many reasons. They have a good menu selection of salads, appetizers and entrees. We paid more than the average patron because we had drinks and dessert with our meal. The service is unbeatable and the staff is super friendly. We did not know much french but our servers english was much better and they were very patient and helpful. We ate twice at this establishment and were very pleased both times. Five stars all the way. Terry S.

One of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Ordered the pasta bolognese — it was cold, mushy, and completely flavorless. It was microwaved unacceptable! Meat tasted stale, sauce was watery, and the staff couldn’t care less. Save your stomach and your money.

This little restaurant on the water serves up a friendly staff, wonderful cocktails, delicious food and gorgeous sunsets. What more could you ask for? And they tolerated my butchering of the French language and spoke English to ease my pain! A wonderful night. I can't wait to go back!

Ok bit odd for an American, pizza is great they have takeout or eat in, they also have a bar windows for outside. To eat in they generally want a reservation, but they fit us in. Tapas plates are great. They of course speak French but worked hard to figure out what we wanted. Only open very specific hours of day.

Chez Lélette

Restaurant
Chez Lélette is a prime spot for lunch, especially if you plan on diving in Deshaies, as it's conveniently located near the area's dive centers. The restaurant is open daily from 11 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 10:30 pm, except on Wednesdays and Sundays. Situated right by the beach with dining tables offering a picturesque view of sailboats in the bay, this eatery provides an authentic Creole dining experience.
Service is absolutely professional but slow, but the food is worth the wait. Even on a low-season Monday, they have to turn people away, such is Chez Lélette's reputation. The team is clearly working flat out to keep everything on track, but you nevertheless need to allow 90-120 minutes for lunch here. The cool sea breeze and view make it a pleasant place to wait anyway. The Guadeloupe dishes on the menu were especially good here - more flair and flavour than you get elsewhere. The international dishes, especially the burger, were not at the same level.

Good food and service at reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and patient with my broken french. Neighbour had colombo and i was jealous. But my brochette de poisson was good too albeit a bit dry.

Great meal, excellent service. The waiter was very attentive and did a great job communicating with us, English only for us. We had the Lobster and the conch. The chocolate cake with passion fruit dessert, which we ate to before taking a picture, was AMAZING! Great dinner! Highly recommend a visit if your in Deshaies or nearby.

Great service, excellent food — the tuna fish and the lamb are delicious — and the atmosphere is genuine and warm. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Guadeloupe!

I don't understand why this establishment has such a low rating. If you're looking for an affordable option, this may not be the place for you. However, the prices are in line with the excellent service, quality, and presentation of the food. I've personally dined here for both lunch and dinner and found the cuisine to be absolutely amazing! The tuna tartare was particularly impressive and the aged beef steak for two was incredibly flavorful.
Wonderful food, views, and service. We made reservations by text and ate at a lovely table next to the windows (stormy day so no outside dining). Despite our weak french, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The green curry with shrimp was very good. We would definitely come back.

Fantastic place. Only open for lunch. You can put dingy in their little harbour below restaurant. Excellent views and good food. More expensive than any other restaurants we ate at in Guadalupe.

I love the mixed tastes and to rediscover local vegetables cooked in completely different different ways. The view is splendid as always, still a good spot for local fishermen too who fish from shore, and surely one of the nicest place to enjoy in Deshaies

Beautiful restaurant in a wonderful location. Stunning views and superb food. Everything is home made even the bread and the flavoured butter. Well worth the price but you must book in advance. Very memorable and totally delicious!

First of all we don’t understand why the place has such a low raiting. If you want to go somewhere cheap of course that’s not the place. But the prices are relevant to the service, quality and looks of the food. We’ve had both lunch and dinner there. The food was absolutely fantastic! Tuna tartare was the best we’ve eaten so far and the aged beef steak for two was mouth watering. The whole restaurant is absolutely beautiful and unique. Wonderful views. The owners are full of passion and taste. What we also loved was the fact that they’ve had our favouite Rimapere wine :) If you are in Guadelupe and looking for a special place for special ocassion or just gourmet lunch/dinner - this is the place to go! Remember to book a table in advance, especially for the evening.

Huge disappointment. Location is very nice, food may be good, but staff is so rude and aggressive that ruins it all .. it seems they do a favour to you. Also, not the slightest effort to speak English.

Excellent lunch, the best meal we had in Deshaies. What sets this place above the other good local restaurants (apart from its wonderful view of the harbor) is the creativity behind the menu and preparations. Service was friendly and attentive. Recommended: Tahitian ceviche, crevette ravioli, chocolate tart (decadent; to be shared). Reservations a must, as we watched them turn away several groups. And reserve as early as possible; prime tables by the window and on the deck appear to be allocated in the order that bookings are received

Beaches
Plage de Grande Anse is a stunning beach located near the charming town of Deshaies in northwest Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe. This premier destination boasts about 1 km of golden sands hugged by lush green cliffs and overlooking the tranquil turquoise sea. The shallow and gentle waters make it a safe haven for families, offering children an ideal place for carefree fun.
Grande Anse Beach, on the west side of Basse Terre in Guadeloupe, is a breathtaking destination that rivals some of the best beaches in the Caribbean—and even Costa Rica. With its light-colored sand, pristine waters, and gentle waves, it offers an idyllic setting for relaxation and exploration. The beach features swimmable, deeper waters that are easily accessible from the shore, making it perfect for both casual wading and full-on swimming. Backed by a line of stately palm trees, there’s ample shade to escape the midday sun while still enjoying the seaside ambiance. Convenience is a key part of the experience, with nearby restaurants and food trucks offering plenty of dining options. Additionally, the facilities—such as foot-washing stations and bathrooms—are a welcome touch that makes a day at Grande Anse all the more enjoyable. That said, it’s worth noting that the beach can get quite busy during the holidays, especially around midday. Arriving early or later in the afternoon may help you avoid the crowds. Overall, Grande Anse Beach is a must-visit for anyone in Guadeloupe. It’s the kind of place where natural beauty meets thoughtful amenities, creating a memorable day by the sea.

Any valuation of this beach really depends on what you are willing to do. If you intend to swim you need some courage and experience with hefty waves. I was at this beach twice and decided not to chance it. So did most of the people staring at the water. There is also a price tag associated with parking as it's not a free public parking. Nevertheless it tends to be quite crowded.
Karl S — Google review
Very nice beach, wide and long, very pretty! Water was steep and waves are strong, could also use a little more shade.
Jérémie L — Google review
We came in the afternoon hoping there would be less people and more parking...no such luck, but we managed. The beach is one of the most scenic that we've been to in Guadeloupe and well worth it. Unfortunately we were staying about an hour from here and the drive was so twisty and steep none of us were willing to do it again. I would recommend staying in this area if a great beach is a must.
Rex T — Google review
This is a great beach but please be aware this can be dangerous. The beach itself is sandy and a very steep angle so the rollers coming in pretty much bounce back on to the next incoming wave. So every so often these crash into each other giving a spectacular explosion of water, but, if your in the bad spot when it happens....well people have been seriously hurt here. Great amenities nearby with everything you could need for your visit including large coconut trees and almond trees offering cover.
Francis H — Google review
This is likely the most beautiful beach on the west side of Basse Terre. A long stretch of sand, quite different in color than in Grande Terre. Not really for kids as the water gets deep quite fast and there are waves. You need to be careful when getting out of the water so you don't get pulled in back. We only went there at the end of the day, but will surely visit it if we come back. Plenty of parking found there.
Dan S — Google review
A beach as you see in the movies. White Sand, blue water and palm trees. There is plenty of room in the shade to sit down. There are toilets and showers. Unfortunately the restaurants at the beach are partially closed or have unclear opening times, so it might be worth it to bring some snacks.
Sjoerd V — Google review
So far my favorite beach in Guadeloupe- the one that with clear water allowing you to see underwater! Go toward the right side of the beach near the rock area to have better scenic under water.

Located in the northern part of Deshaies, Grande Anse is considered to be the most beautiful and longest beach on the island of Basse-Terre. It is surrounded by lush forests and framed by rocks and green hills at its ends, creating a stunning setting. The beach features fine sand and calm waters, making it suitable for families and swimmers.

Holiday apartment
O Coeur de Deshaies is a relaxed hotel with a spa and restaurant, offering colorful rooms with terraces and sea views. It provides a superb view of the city of Deshaies, set in a beautiful location near the garden. The hotel has an excellent reputation for its modern and clean rooms, nice balconies, and exceptional restaurant called Kawa. Guests can enjoy sumptuous breakfasts prepared by friendly staff. The director Franck is known for his kindness and helpfulness.
Stayed here twice, last time in November/December 2018 (previously in December 2017). Frank, the host, was superbly awesome. He spoke little English but that didnt stop him from using the translator on his phone to help him provide excellence and warmth. He greeted us outside and made sure we parked ok! He was all smiles and pleasant! Lea is the restaurant host and Manon is the chef. Great customer service at the restaurant, breakfast and dinner were sumptuous and palatial! The location was excellent, we had a car, so we were able to explore the different beaches and come back to a very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The birds chirping give a good sense of nature, a good therapeutic vibe! We had an ocean view, scenic and good place to watch the sunset. Bernard was there both times, I think he is the owner, very professional and friendly guy. I thought he instilled a great professional customer mindset in his staff, or maybe it's their inate characteristic too. I would definitely stay here again, maybe in 2020!

An absolute treasure! Beautiful views, clean and modern room, nice balcony and a very good restaurant (Kawa) that gives a much more special food and service that your average local restaurants. The breakfast was much better than expected with the staff preparing different omelettes, bacon and sausages upon request and there was fruit, joghurts, bread, sweet/salty pastries etc. But the best part was the staff: The hotel's director Franck was the most kind and helpful hotel owner I've ever met. Also the house maids and the people helping during the breakfast were so nice. Sure the staff's English skills were limited but everything was still doable (e.g. with the help of google translate. The only things that shouöd be improved is the wifi as it mostly works near the restaurant but not usually inside the rooms. But still, we had such a great time!

(Translated by Google) Sorry, dear owner. But even on your website and here on Google you can see photos of the described house/apartment Tropical, from the outside and above. It's right next to the pool. And on the wall of the house, right next to the parking lot, the name of the facility is written. Booked through Airbnb, it worked well. From the outside it is a beautiful complex with a pool, sun loungers, parasols and washing machine for everyone. Car required as the mountain is steep. Parking spaces available. Different levels in the small area where the houses/apartments are scattered around. We had a tiny house/studio called “Tropical”, located on the ground floor, with a kitchen, anteroom and bathroom on the ground floor, a bedroom with air conditioning on the upper floor, with a spiral staircase. Upstairs there is an exit from the bedroom to a terrace, which unfortunately has neither a parasol, sun sail or other shade, so it is unusable because the sun is beating down. Sun loungers are available on the terrace. At the entrance to the house there is a small courtyard. Unfortunately no seating facilities. In the evenings you could see the rats walking around in our tiny yard. The kitchen equipment is OK. Unfortunately, not all windows have fly screens. Shower a bit moldy, bathroom hardly any storage space. The interior of the house is already showing its age. Iron, ironing board available. I would say the facility exists and is being booked because Deshaies is simply beautiful. A renovation wouldn't hurt, especially of the interior. Stay in December 2022 (Original) Sorry, sehr geehrter Inhaber. Dusche schon etwas angeschimmelt, Bad kaum Ablagefläche. Das Innere des Häuschens ist schon in die Jahre gekommen. Bügeleisen, Bügelbrett vorhanden. Ich würde sagen, die Anlage existiert und wird gebucht, weil Deshaies einfach traumhaft schön ist. Eine Renovierung würde nicht schaden, besonders der Innenräume. Aufenthalt im Dezember 2022

(Translated by Google) Negatives aside, we enjoyed our stay here. The bedding is comfortable, and if we omit the large roof of a building obstructing 1/3 of the view of the water, the sunsets were sumptuous. The drop-down shutters are perfect and allow you to feel a little safe (when you are there AND not there for that matter). The excessively harsh note is to draw the owners' attention to the negative points. I find that we're making fun of the client ("let's take the agent of the good tourist, and the rest doesn't matter") In the description it is indicated: “soundproof rooms”! Totally lying. VERY poorly soundproofed. We are careful not to tell you that the room (without airtight window!) overlooks a mega-sloping road, the cars go up there at high speed, you have the impression that the cars/trucks/scooters are entering the room. Not to mention the neighbors above who (by simply living no doubt) make a terrible racket due to the lack of insulation/soundproofing. It is also indicated “private spa”!!! Which doesn't exist... or we haven't been told about it. Bulbs that come out of the wall… without “protection”… lampshades exist, at a very low price what’s more. It feels “not finished”, when you pay the full price, it’s excessive. Since there are openings everywhere, there are also beasts. A frog is fine... a huge cockroach that comes through a big gaping hole under the bathroom sink, a little less cool. We had 3. Creepy. Wifi: TODAY the wifi codes are simplifiable... not necessarily extension codes like FRT7jzk9MMUis65hsoH2 (<~ which by the way is NOT the right code but just as annoying to enter, where it could have simply been "Yippee2024 " For example. Smells of sewage when you are on the terrace… at their strongest in the morning. The swimming pool is no longer accessible from 8 p.m., probably to avoid parties or noise. But it spoils the pleasure of having one. Between responsible adults, we can agree not to make noise, right? Obviously the swimming pool is used by other accommodations (how many?!), this is not specified in the description either. Non-exhaustive list. Flippant. Liste non-exhaustive.

Beautiful beach and the filming site of the Inspectors House from Death In Paradise. Some big waves along this section and no lifeguards, so not a great place for swimming.
Scott D — Google review
One of our favs on the whole island!! Amazing soft golden sand, picturesque palms, and a lot of room to spread out. Parking is crowded (as most beaches in Guadeloupe). The waves can be VERY large which my kids loved. If you go right past the waves (not far from the shore at all), you can have a peaceful swim. My kids loved doing the boogie boards and there were other kids there wave skimming. There are bathrooms and water to rinse off. We saw the house from the show Death in Paradise. Had drinks at the restaurant (very good drinks). Such a good day! The restaurant does blare loud music on the beach which we did not mind. If you prefer more quite, there is plenty of space to get away on this beach for a more secluded experience.
Alissa S — Google review
Heaven on earth what a view and is the film location for death in paradise on BBC. This was a real treat to visit in person as I have seen this on TV so many times.
Mark P — Google review
Beautiful long stretched beach, great for morning strolls, not too busy this time of year. As in most parts of the west coast of the island, you’ll find calm and respectful tourism that blend in and support the local communities, clear up after themselves on the beach and cherish the paradise Guadeloupe is in the fashion it deserves to be treated. Plage de la perle is one of those places where one is exposed to this once again, and how can that not make you smile.
Ruben A — Google review
Beautiful beach with plenty of nice sand and blue water. To find the beach, you pull down a small alley. The parking is the the only downside as there is not much room and it is mostly in sand. There are two restaurants and one food truck as amenities. There are a few gazebos nearby as well. The beach is home to the shack from the show Death in Paradise. It is truly a scenic place and worth the stop.
Heather T — Google review
Wonderful beach with nice cafe/food places. Easy access with parking very close to the beach and beautiful white sand. The beach is also a filming location for the "Death in Paradise" TV series. The house that that Detective lives in is built on the beach each year for filming and then taken down. It would be a wonderful location to have a house on the beach if you really could.

Restaurant
Les Hibiscus is a charming restaurant located on the stunning Grande Anse beach. Visitors have praised the warm welcome from the staff and the delightful Creole cuisine, which is simple, authentic, and offers great value for money. The menu features local dishes such as grilled fish smoked with sugar cane, tender Lambi, and lobster accompanied by grilled shrimp. Guests have also enjoyed deliciously spicy punches and Mardi Gras donuts that were described as impressive in their softness.

Served with astronomical quantities of fries. The planter is served generously in a large glass, service with a smile. And for those who say that the service is long I want to tell you, the longer it is, the better it is. We are in the West Indies. Worst food and service I’ve had in the whole of Guadeloupe. Over 2h to eat, super small quantity of actual food (compared to the rest of Guadaloupe and price), they only serve rice!!! The accras are a joke… only 2!!!! The mains tasted like s*** and the banana dessert had so much rum my 9yo nephew couldn’t even eat it… and they charged us more than it said in the menu!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID And to top everything, the woman in charge of the restaurant parked in front of 3 cars, and we and 2 others had to wait well over 30mins (honking the entire time) until she came to move it… I could not believe it… NEVER AGAIN

A eviter / avoid this place. Rude and impolite staff. Awful food.

(Translated by Google) Even though the service is a bit slow, it's definitely worth staying. The waitresses are very nice. The fritters and fish were excellent, and the flambéed banana was delicious.

(Translated by Google) Small friendly restaurant on Grande Anse, very competitive price! On the other hand, very slow service…Arrived at 12:10 p.m. my dish was served at 1:20 p.m. and I didn't even have time to have my dessert. Regarding the food: -Accras excellent (20min to receive them anyway) but only 2 on the plate -Grilled fish cooked carefully, well seasoned but I would have preferred a Creole sauce with pieces of onion and spice rather than a mixed sauce -Rice with an earthy taste (I think it's the quality of the rice itself and not the cook's fault) -Dessert: I initially had a banana flambé but given the wait I preferred to leave without it, one of the waitresses still served me 2 scoops of ice cream to take away. In summary, well-mastered Creole cuisine, but service that is much too slow, without rhythm, a real shame.

(Translated by Google) Don't take the rather low average rating into account. Sure, there's a bit of a wait (like everywhere in Guadeloupe), but the food is absolutely delicious, and the restaurant stayed open until late (5-6 p.m.) to serve us takeaway food when everyone else was closed.

Gwada Yolo, also known as Grande Anse, is a stunning beach in Guadeloupe located in Deshaies on Basse-Terre. This nearly mile-long stretch of golden sand offers breathtaking views of bluffs and is adorned with tall palm trees. The constant blue waves make it an ideal spot for beach lovers. Additionally, visitors can enjoy delicious pizzas made with quality ingredients at this relaxed and welcoming setting.
Everyone’s Italian favourite in Caribbean setting. The dough is excellent and variety of classic and quirky topping combinations available 👌 service is incredibly friendly and humble!

What a great place. The best pizza we had in Guadeloupe! The service was very good, nice and friendly people. Great atmosphere. A lot of locals, which is always a good sign about the quality of the food.
Christa O — Google review
Really one of the best pizzas I've ever had and at a reasonable price, especially for Guadeloupe. So don't be surprised if you see a bunch of people waiting for their food - most of them take it away, as there aren't many tables and chairs on site. The location is inviting and the owners are nice and friendly - the high rating is absolutely justified.
Uwe F — Google review
Despite arriving at 8 pm - so 2 hours before closing time - they wouldn't seat us or let us wait. And it didn't look that busy. Ate instead at the wonderful Stad Grill across the street. Complacent owners I guess.

Chophouse restaurant
La Salamandre restaurant plage offers a warm welcome and dishes with excellent flavors, making it a great place to enjoy a pleasant time with friends and family. The friendly setting, pretty decoration, and proximity to the beach create a relaxed atmosphere. Visitors praise the delicious ceviche and incredible lobster, as well as the rare find of real smoked meat.
Everything was great. Friendly and attentive wait staff. The owner makes a special effort to greet his customers. He also took the time to give everyone a taste of sugarcane and fresh coconut. First time I saw this in any restaurant. Right on the beach so very casual. We will go back.

We had lunch here and we ate the guadaloupean lobster. It was the best I’ve had in my life. It was beautiful prepared on the grill and the smoky flavour it added to it was divine. Our server, Cédric, was friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back here and I highly recommend it to everyone

We arrived late for lunch around 15 o'clock, being the only guests and asked whether they still have warm kitchen. After our order they restarted the grill and within 30 minutes they served us awesome food and generous portions. The whole staff was welcoming as well.
Alex — Google review
The waiter ran out to the street to drag us into the restaurant, showed us the amazing looking grill and fish, told us about their special way of preparaion, then we sat down and noone came to even get us a bit of water for 30+ minutes. Given there were less than 10 people in the whole restaurant (+ staff) we left. The food and drinks looked good. Maybe some other time?

This is like the platonic ideal of a Caribbean restaurant. The food, the hospitality, the ambience are all just top notch. Any restaurant would be lucky to have a team like this: even when the restaurant is jam packed, the front-of-house team goes the extra mile to build rapport with each table. They also speak English without hesitation. Marlin, ray, lobster... La Salamandre has one of the more extensive fish menus on Guadeloupe. Charcoal grilling is the standard cooking method here. The quality and presentation are finessed, which is reflected in above-average but not inflated prices. You need to allow plenty of time here - there's only so fast a charcoal smoker can cook, so when the restaurant is full it can take around an hour to receive the food. Reservations are always a good idea here as it is so popular.

The service is fast (compared to the very slow service of other restaurants on the island) We had a colombo and a sea couscous, the broth was excellent and the colombo very well seasoned. Certainly one of the best restaurants we have had on the island.
