Bora Bora, a renowned international tourist destination in French Polynesia, is easily accessible with an eight-hour nonstop flight from the west coast of the United States. The island group features a stunning lagoon and barrier reef, with most hotels situated on motus surrounding the main island. The name 'Bora Bora' loosely translates to 'created by the gods,' reflecting its heavenly beauty.
Bora Bora is amazing and beautiful. Crystal clear turquoise water... it just looks like an edited image... except it isn't. It's probably one of the most beautiful places on our beautiful earth.

We love Bora Bora. We went to a beautiful beach to enjoy the clear waters. Last time we were here, we did all of the special snorkeling and swam with the sharks rays fish. Great time!
Bob M — Google review
The people is really nice, the island is like paradise and picturesque. There are multiple shades of blue in the ocean, and we can walk out really far and the water is still only waist deep, amazing.
Thang D — Google review
One of the best beach in the world. Snorkelling paradise where you can acquaint with sharks and sting rays. Stingrays are more people friendly and the sharks are swimming around you. We can say the biggest natural swimming pool of the world. The water is crystal clear and many coral gardens around the islands. The people are friendly. Very safe to go anywhere on the island. We had the best snorkelling experience of all time. It is expensive but worth to go again.

Absolutely gorgeous! Definitely a bucket list trip. Would highly recommend Norwegian's cruise going from Honolulu to Papatee, Tahiti, including Bora Bora, Raiatea and Moorea. Incredible!

This is Paradise on earth. The colour of the water is just amazing... There are some hostels for cheap accommodation, in case u want to do it backpacker. The transport in between the islands can be done by low cost local airline... Definitely a place worth to see it.
Mariano P — Google review
What a fabulous place to visit. I have to say there was much less to do on the island than I expected. We rented a car and drove around the entire island in about 45 minutes which was really fun to see what was there. Some of the resorts are very high-end and off the main island such as Conrad or Ritz-Carlton. These are exceptional resorts, pricey but don't expect them to be very lively. We loved swimming with the sharks and stingrays on one of the excursions we did. As well as visiting the Bora Bora yacht club. Don't expect anything fancy but it is a fun place to visit.

Bora Bora Cultural Lagoon Tours offers an unforgettable experience with Narii as a knowledgeable and thoughtful host. The full-day tour includes snorkeling at stunning spots, where Narii shares local customs and takes guests to a beautiful family motu with access to the ocean side and lagoon. Guests enjoy a delicious lunch and may even be treated to live music and encounters with dolphins.
Nari and Teura hospitality was amazing, and your's English was perfectly fine—super! Everything was amazing—the boat, the route, snorkeling with sharks, the coral garden (aquarium), yuors own's motu, and the food on they private motu, which, by the way, is in one line with the Four Seasons and St. Regis. Unforgettable—memories for a lifetime. Wow. P.s. P.S. How genuine and humble Narri and Teura are, and how perfectly they tell the stories with all the details about French Polynesia and Bora Bora.

As we embarked on our Bora Bora adventure, we were fortunate enough to stumble upon the Private Sunset Lagoon Cruise—an experience that surpassed all our expectations. It wasn't just a simple boat ride; it was a journey filled with awe-inspiring beauty, warm hospitality, and the pride of supporting a local entrepreneur named Narii. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, we knew we were in for a treat. Narii, the mastermind behind this incredible endeavor, welcomed us with a genuine smile and a passion for sharing the wonders of his home. His love for Bora Bora was infectious, and it was clear that he was committed to providing his guests with an exceptional experience. What truly made this experience exceptional was the knowledge and passion that Narii shared with us. He acted as a personal guide, enlightening us about the island's rich history, its culture, and the remarkable marine life that inhabited the lagoon. In the end, we had experienced an extraordinary journey which was made all the more special by Narii's genuine hospitality and unwavering commitment to providing an outstanding tour. This experience will forever hold a cherished place in our hearts, and we wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable adventure in Bora Bora. Supporting Narii and his local enterprise is not just about experiencing the beauty of the lagoon—it's about being a part of something meaningful, something that truly makes a difference. If possible, we'd recommend book direct. Trust us; you won't regret embarking on this magical journey with the Bora Bora Cultural Lagoon Tours.

I had one of the best days of my life on this tour in Bora Bora! We swam and dived with sharks and several species of rays, truly unforgettable. Every spot we visited was incredible and exactly as promised, full of marine life and breathtaking scenery. The lunch was simply brilliant, with delicious local food that made the experience even more authentic. The captain, the cook, and the whole team were so welcoming and made us feel at home throughout the day. Everything about this experience was OUTSTANDING! I absolutely loved it and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bora Bora!

I literally had the best time on this beautiful day trip. Nari'i was a fantastic host. Friendly, warm hearted, always smiling, polite and open to all questions and wishes. This trip includes swimming with manta rays, sting rays and sharks, snorkeling the coral garden with schools of fish, traditional food, that was absolutely delicious, served on a private motu by lovely Orama also teaching us palm leaf brading and making our own shell necklaces to take home as a souvenir. Nari'i even played the Ukulele for us on the way "home". The boat itself is super comfortable and spacious. I just loved everything about this trip! Thank you!

I had the chance to visit Bora Bora twice in just three weeks, and I loved this tour so much that I booked it both times! Swimming with rays and sharks was an unforgettable experience, followed by snorkeling in the beautiful coral garden, which felt like being inside a natural aquarium. The local lunch on a stunning little motu was delicious, and the cultural activities made the day even more special. Captain Vehi is absolutely amazing, 5 stars all the way! He made everyone feel welcome, safe, and entertained throughout the tour. If you come to Bora Bora, don’t miss this experience, it’s truly one of the best things you can do here!

An absolute MUST in Bora Bora!!! Nariihau is truly the most thoughtful (and impressive!) captain and made sure we had a magical experience from start to end. As if live music and home-cooked delicacies weren't perfect enough, we somehow got even luckier to have a pod of dolphins following the boat as the sun dipped below the horizon. Thank you for being the highlight of our trip - we couldn't recommend more!!
Gabrielle Q — Google review
Nari'i has been a great host during our full day tour. His boat is gorgeous and comfortable. We've been able to spend ample time at each snorkeling spot where he swam with us and showed us the best places. He shared with us a lot's of local usages throughout the day. The family motu is a beautiful thing with access to both the ocean side and lagoon and a lovely exotic garden with very helpful explanation of origin and usage of plants and fruits. Lunch was delicious to top it off. We really appreciated his ethical and sustainable approach to the business which was rewarded by a rare certification for.
Ghislain D — Google review
Narii provides a personal and professional experience. Both English and French, he makes sure everyone feels included. But the real star of the show is the sharks! Unreal how up close and personal you get with these magnificent animals!

Eleuthera Bora Diving Center offers an introductory dive experience that allows you to explore the captivating underwater world of Bora Bora at a depth of 20ft for 30 minutes, guided by professional instructors. Visitors have also chosen to pursue diving certification with Eleuthera, opting for the PADI Open Water Diver course, which includes an eLearning component and six dives with an instructor. The center's team has been highly recommended by previous visitors for their expertise and professionalism.
This was hands down the best thing we’ve done in Bora Bora! Captain Dan and Coach Emory were super nice and professional — they really looked after our whole family. We got to try diving for the first time ever, just for fun, and it was such a cool experience. Highly recommend it if you’re in Bora Bora!

We spent a couple of days diving with Eleuthera Diving Center, and it quickly became one of my all-time favorite dive experiences. The instructor was fantastic—knowledgeable, respectful of marine life, and eager to show us the wonders of the underwater world. We spotted a lemon shark on one dive, which was unforgettable. But the highlight for me was lying on the warm, sandy bottom while a school of spotted stingrays swirled around us in calm, crystal-clear water. Absolutely magical. Highly recommend this dive center if you're in Bora Bora!

First class operation! Boat picked us up right on time at our hotel and have everything ready to go. Randy was our instructor and did an awesome job explaining the gear and was very patient answering everyone’s questions. It was my 9 year old daughter’s first time scuba diving and Randy made her feel so safe and comfortable under the water. He took the time to show her all kinds of unique sea life and took some great underwater photos for us. Eleuthera Bora Diving Center made the dive experience the highlight our trip. I wish I would have scheduled more time to get certified while in Bora Bora.

This shop operations with friendly staff, safety minded and professionalism. The divemasters/instructors were amazing & the diving was great. I wouldn’t dive with any other shop on the island.

Book with Eleuthera! You found the best team on Bora Bora. From the office to the captain and dive master, their operation is seamless and effortless. I booked a private boat day trip a few weeks before our trip, the office was very responsive through email even when I made a last minute request at 4pm the day before. Shout out to Randy and Katu! Randy was a great dive guide and helped us spot so many creatures. Katu was a great captain and helped the snorkelers on the boat to stay above the divers. Lunch on the Motu was a dream, make the day that more special. Thanks for memories we won’t forget!

We had an amazing experience diving with Manu at Anau and Tapu. We saw manta rays, turtles, sharks and plenty of fish. Manu was extremely accommodating to the varying experience levels of the divers in our group. Highly recommend -- everything from the team's amazing communication scheduling the dives (Niki and Aziza) to getting picked up on our catamaran and the dive briefs and experience.
Amy K — Google review
My husband and I did our refresher here. The boat came on time to pick us up from the resort. It was in the afternoon and we were not expecting a lot but just to refresh our skills. But wow! We saw 10 mantas. The instructor was informative, gave clear communications. We had 2 instructors/guide, 5 people going on introductory dives. So after our dives, we have to wait a little before we went back to our resort. Got to snorkel a little bit more by myself. So all good for me!

We had a pleasant experience at Eleuthera Diving Bora Bora. Very nice and structured booking upfront before the start of our journey. Saves time. All Guides and the whole team was very friendly, calm and professional. The Gear was in good condition and clean. Amuray is a humble guide and very respectful for the animals. We had an amazing time with the Manta and Eagle Rays. 🤙🏻 We would be happy to dive again!

This was a truly authentic native experience! We absolutely loved it! Ropati was so fun and energetic! Coral garden was amazing. Our guides dove down and actually pet the two Morray eels! Swam with rays and black tip sharks! And they fed us a feast on the island in woven reed baskets! We danced and learned how to shrewd a coconut and drank the water and milk! So fun! Would definitely recommend.

Best day ever! Snorkeling, swimming with sharks and rays, Polynesian lunch on an beautiful island, dress up and learn a dance, circumnavigate Bora Bora in a motorized outrigger, everything was wonderful but our guide, host, captain and cooks made it over the top special!

Fantastic adventure. The staff is knowledgeable and entertaining. What you'll see on the full day tour is all of the Bora Bora water highlights... sharks, rays, tropical fish in coral gardens. You will also be treated to a fantastic Polynesian lunch (can't stress enough how good it was) and some other fun on-land activities. Even though we've sailed to Bora Bora and have access to a dingy, this was a worthwhile adventure with people that know the best spots.
Arthur K — Google review
A wonderful experience in Bora Bora! You can't miss it. The tour starts from the main island and there are 4 stops around the lagoon were you can see corals, a lot of typical fishes, different species of race and if you are lucky also some manta ray! You can also swim with lemon sharks. We suggest to do the full day tour to enjoy also the lunch made by the staff. The staff is very friendly, they create a magic atmosphere playing different instruments and guiding you to see the most beautiful things during the snorkeling.
Giorgio P — Google review
Better than any other Bora Bora Lagoon snorkeling tour. Max, RuPati, and Papa played the bongo and ukulele the entire time. They put in a lot of work to find mantra rays for the tour. They were happy, had an amazing vibe, and were entertaining. The food portion was huge and delicious, with tapioca pumpkin and Polynesian blackened chicken. Best tour, and you are supporting a beautiful local family!
Bryan U — Google review
I truly recommend this family company. We had the best time with them and we were so glad we chose them. They genuinely do their best to make the day unforgettable, and it turned out to be one of our best days ever. Max is an excellent singer and a funny guy. All the members of the company are very friendly, and it was a real pleasure to spend the day with them.

Had the most fun and amazing time on the day trip! The crew was friendly and played music for us as we cruised the beautiful lagoon. They also told us facts and history about the island We snorkeled coral gardens where the Captain Rob found us a stone fish, there were lots of fish, a stingray, and an eagle ray at the site. Then crew Max found us a giant manta ray at the next site. We saw eagle rays at next site. Then the sharks and rays. So many black tip sharks and tropical fish as well. Lots of time to hang out with them. We had lunch at the motu with amazing views. The food was awesome and huge portion! We learned how to tie a sarong and open coconuts. They made it really fun and interactive. The sprouted coconut was my favorite, the marshmallow. They also pick you up and drop you off at your accomodation. Well worth it! Do it!
Nicole D — Google review
The crew was really great entertaining us with ukulele and singing. We saw giant mantas, sharks, other rays and then a delicious lunch with parea tying training, and dance lessons on a private island or motu. Highly recommend.

The Bora Bora Yacht Club is a popular dining spot known for its delicious food, stunning views, and top-notch service. Located lagoon-side, the restaurant offers a menu featuring fresh Polynesian cuisine made with local ingredients. While it's accessible by boat, guests can also enjoy complimentary pick-up for lunch or dinner in a casual island setting with reasonably priced cocktails. The club is renowned for its large portions and attentive servers, making it the perfect place to unwind while watching the sunset.
Very cool spot for lunch. The burger was massive. Bought a beach towel and spent time in the ocean and in the beach. Beautiful place.

Only one steak in our party was cooked to the requested temperature, three were not. My duck tasted great however one breast was under cooked so I didnt eat it. Two tables sat after us and got their food and left before we got ours. On the positive side, the people were very friendly and the view can't be beat.
Derek A — Google review
Cocktails are either hit or miss, but the place has nice views and the staff is very friendly. + the pinacolada was very good. + coffee is really hard to find on the island, but the americano was quite decent - we tried one other rum cocktail but it was very very sweet
Cristina M — Google review
We were extremely disappointed with the slow service at this restaurant. We waited 90 minutes for our dishes to arrive, and the only explanation given was that we had ordered meat well done. The restaurant was not full, and we were not warned in advance about such a long wait. After a flight, we were tired and hungry, and this delay really spoiled our evening. No gesture was made to compensate for the inconvenience. As for the food: it was fine, but nothing exceptional. We tried the meat, the fish of the day, and the duck. The meat was definitely the best. For dessert, the Po’e was fair, but not memorable. Sadly, the experience did not live up to the expectations.
Yury P — Google review
Two stars is the average between two occasions we went there. On one day we walked by just to make reservations for the next evening but ended up staying for tapas and drink before moving on to our next activities. The tapas were very nice and the plates generous. The place was private and the service friendly. We asked about table placement for the next evening as we specifically wanted to see the show well. The answer was, it depends on the order of arrival in the evening. The evening in question it was raining and, although we booked in advance with specifically the show in mind, they sat us at the very end of the terrace claiming we'd have a nice view of the sea and others had booked and selected the tables beforehand (which we were not allowed to do). We were left under the intermittent rain (a protective screen was set up, then immediately removed just a couple of minutes later) regardless of the fact there were plenty of empty tables, unable to see the show without standing. I was given the wrong plate after having a really unpleasant conversation on allergies, which was either not understood or simply ignored, and had to wait for the dish to be reprepared. When I stood to watch the show they also tried to remove my still full plate which they had delivered 3 minutes before. The show (what we managed to see) was just ok. The dancers may have been good but having the customers dance is tasteless and in my opinion degrading to the local culture. The food was also just ok. We were immediately given the check after the end of the show, no worries as we would not have stayed any longer. If you expect customers to stay longer and order more drinks you should offer a more pleasant atmosphere and service. Whether the treatment is depending on the snobbiness of the hostess or disorganization, I would not recommend the dinner and show.
Serena V — Google review
The food here was just okay but everything else was awesome. We ordered the scallops, which didn't have a lot of flavor and the and the red tuna tartar, which was fine. The view was incredible, it was so nice being able to take our dingy from our boat and drive right up to the dock and be at the restaurant. We saw lots of fish and even a manta ray in the waters right next to our table. The dessert was the best part of the meal we ordered the lava cake.
Zachary S — Google review
We had a lovely lunch here. Sadly it was overcast but I can imagine the views would be spectacular on a sunny day overlooking the sparkling azure lagoon. we still enjoyed the vibe and absorbed the uniqueness of the place. The staff were very attentive and so friendly. The food was excellent and didn't disappoint. Well worth a visit.
Sandie W — Google review
The head server does not know at all how to treat paying customers and was as rude as it can get, from the very first moment we stepped into the restaurant. All the other waitresses were very kind, nice and welcoming, but the head waitress did not let us enjoy their nice behavior. Maybe only VIP are welcome at this restaurant but, even so, food was not good, especially for the high prices in the menu, compared to any other restaurants in the island I’ve been to: the rice was completely overcooked and the fish of the day was tasteless and its flavor was fully covered by the coconut curry sauce which was not described in the menu for such dish. As an Italian who likes good food and (at least) decent customer service, I would not advise anyone to go there.

Great little place on the beach. They have a great variety of sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, pizza, fish, chicken, and beef dishes for a very reasonable price. Service was great and beer was ice cold!

well located on the beach and with parking nearby, good advice on F&B. for example fish burger (real panfried tuna fish) with cheese (without fries !) . On weekend and festive days, it is advised to book in advance or arrive early. highly recommended as good value for money.

A visit to this beach is a must. White fine sandy beach with turquoise crystal clear water. The snack bar is pretty good, casual lunch fare and Island time service. Lots of stray cats and dogs on the beach so we fed them fish from the smelt traps, along with the stingrays. 😸
Kristin L — Google review
Unfortunately we did not have the best experience: slow and grumpy service, fresh fish with fries was sold out but for one plate at 1pm (which we took), although I asked for rare tuna it was fully cooked, salad was a joke (see picture) and the bill was 40 USD. Toilets were dirty, lacked toilet paper for my wife and there is no soap to wash your hands. View is nice and it could be a very cool place if the frowns went upside down :-) Mauruuru!
Youssef B — Google review
Good prices for the perfect beach location. 700f for a massive Sandwich/baguette! 1600 for big pizza. 1700 for steak frites (big too). Friendly service and quick (15 mins)

Definitely make this a stop after a day of shopping or when you want some beach, food and drinks! We had a delicious pizza and some fries with of course some beers. The waitress was extremely kind and the environment is very welcoming. You're not going to pay insane prices like you see closer to shopping. We spent about 1.5 hrs with food and drinks, walked out 70 bucks lighter but 10 pounds heavier lol my fav were the pups around here! You see how spoiled they are. So happy and love belly rubs after their constant hand outs haha It was a great experience
Jo B — Google review
This little beach snack bar is perfectly located right on beautiful Matira Beach, which is really its main selling point. Grabbed lunch here after a morning of swimming and snorkeling. The poisson cru was decent but nothing special - fairly standard preparation without much creativity. The croque monsieur was fine but definitely not worth 1,200 XPF. The setting is lovely with tables right on the white sand, and it's convenient when you don't want to leave the beach. Service is friendly but slow - island time is real here! The fresh coconuts are overpriced at 500 XPF but refreshing. It's the kind of place you go for convenience and location rather than culinary excellence. Fine for a beach lunch but there are much better options elsewhere on the island.

Restaurant Saint James offers a unique dining experience in Bora Bora. After a relaxing sunset cruise on a Polynesian outrigger canoe, guests are treated to an intimate dinner overlooking the lagoon. The restaurant prides itself on carefully selecting local products for its menu, with an emphasis on fresh seafood caught by local fishermen. Dishes like Mahi-Mahi and Beef Tartare showcase the island's abundant catch.
The most perfect views for sunset! We came for drinks and then stayed for dinner after the sun went down. The view is stunning, everyone was super friendly, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend for either drinks or a meal. We reserved in advance for both a table for drinks and dinner. Would advise doing this so you can get a spot! Thanks for a wonderful evening!

I had the pleasure of dining at Saint James and was thoroughly impressed. The owner, Mr. James, was exceptionally kind and professional, making us feel truly welcomed. The food was outstanding—every dish was flavorful, and even the complimentary bread was delicious. It surpassed the meals we had at our resort restaurant. I highly recommend visiting this place; it’s a culinary experience not to be missed.

Salad with passion fruit dressing was delicious. Had the flambeed shrimp for main course with a side of fois gras. All great. A bonus was the view of fish swimming in the blue light under the piers - even caught a glance of a shark swimming by.

Sitting next to the water while watching the sun set, is pretty amazing. My wife and I ordered fish and chips, they were very delicious and well made. I also ordered a Latte. This is the best place for a latte in Bora Bora. The service can be a little slow when busy, but the quality of food and atmosphere make it worth it.

The restaurant is beautifully located right by the sea, offering stunning views that enhance the entire experience. It serves fresh seafood, prepared with care and a level of quality you can taste in every bite. However, due to the restaurant’s limited capacity, it's best to make a reservation in advance. But what truly makes this place special is the manager, JB. His warm hospitality and attention to detail make every guest feel genuinely valued. JB takes the time to connect with guests, ensuring everyone is well taken care of. His presence elevates the entire experience.

Saint James is a cozy restaurant. No dress code. If you want to sit close to the ocean, you had better make a reservation as early as possible. The food is unexpectedly light, I love it! We ordered 1starter and 2 main course. The portion is good, not too large. Extremely recommend foie gras, it tastes so good. The lamb is soft and well cooked! The scallop and shrimp are fresh!

We had lunch and dinner there over a couple of days. The sunset was great, the service was great. The food was very good, I had wahoo or mahi mahi (sorry, I forgot) in a very nice cream sauce. Bruschetta with pesto was very good also. We had a wonderful evening. I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner to everyone.

Restaurant
Kai Kai Bora Bora is a collection of interesting cafes scattered around the main island, offering affordable and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One such cafe is Roulotte Matira, located near Matira Beach. Visitors can enjoy fresh fish dishes, tasty smoothies, and generous portions of poke. The casual atmosphere allows for a relaxing dining experience with an ocean backdrop. Additionally, the friendly staff are accommodating and willing to explain items on the menu.
Our best meal on Bora Bora by far!! We are foodies and have eaten at some of finest on the island. This was the best meal right on the water 😎 highly recommend the place to everyone. We had the lobster carpaccio, shrimp and fish skewers. We are coming back for the New Year’s party.

Came here because it was recommend by a local and boy did it deliver! We got the lobster special that was caught that day with tuna on the side. Food was amazing, the staff was so friendly, even asked to take a photo of our plate for their menu! Highly recommend coming here during your trip!

My wife and I are two weeks in to our adventure honeymoon in French Polynesia, and up until now, haven’t repeated eating anywhere to ensure we had a diversity of experiences. However, on our first day in Bora Bora, we found Kai Kai, and have eaten there every day since on our four day trip. Mata, the owner, is exceedingly charming and a master of smoothies, each one different and yet exceptionally delicious. We also have had simply grilled tuna, executed superbly, the coconut curry shrimp (superb) and the piece de resistance, a whole lobster with a tuna skewer and fries. The prices are quite reasonable, especially for Bora Bora, and more especially for the exquisite quality and execution of the offerings. Tomorrow is our last day in BB, and we are so glad to know where we’ll be going for lunch!

Matira Beach, also known as Plage de Matira, is a stunning stretch of white sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters located on the main island of Bora Bora. It is popular for snorkeling in its emerald waters and offers a picturesque setting with palm trees providing shade. The beach is perfect for swimming due to its gentle slope into the water and is renowned as one of the world's most beautiful beaches.
Absolutely stunning beach! Super blue water and perfect sand. It’s never too busy either. Plenty of food options nearby and parking is easy. Good snorkelling too - on the shallow light blue part there are always a few stingrays near the shore. And on the right in the darker blue area, good snorkelling (plenty of fish and I’ve seen eagle rays both times I went)
Daniel H — Google review
We went to Matira Beach to watch the sunset and take a walk along the shore. The soft, white sand and turquoise water create breathtaking views—it’s incredibly relaxing. Getting there was easy; we took one of the many taxis from the port for $5 USD per person. Returning after sunset was just as simple. Just wait a few minutes in the parking area, and taxis will arrive to take you back to the port.

We visited Matira Beach in Bora Bora, which became both the starting and ending point of our trip. We enjoyed activities there, including scuba diving, and the setting was breathtaking—soft, bright sand and vibrant blue water that looked like the postcards, only even more beautiful in person. Bora Bora forever in my heart.
Marta S — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited! The water was warm, clean, and crystal clear. If you’re lucky, you might even spot some manta rays. I absolutely loved swimming and relaxing here. If you arrive from the dock or a cruise ship, there are plenty of affordable buses that make it easy to get here. There are also a few restaurants and beach clubs nearby with reasonable prices, which makes it convenient. There aren’t many changing rooms or showers, but the beach is so stunning that I honestly didn’t mind at all.
Septiana W — Google review
Beautiful beach. Had water sports available and a couple of restaurants. We enjoyed it very much.
Marsha R — Google review
Ok so you can totally and easily swim yourself out to the coral garden. This has an underwater heart and an "I love bora bora" caption spelled out underwater in some of the clearest water you will find in the world. The swim is about 600 meters and although the current is basically a joke and VERY mild compared to anywhere real you want to be mindful and walk on the beach up current. This bathtub like beach is very cool.
Aaron S — Google review
This is a must when visiting Bora Bora! Buy or bring a pool float with you! We just swam and floated for hours. Pure bliss.
Brenda V — Google review
A must-see beach on Bora Bora. Clear sparkling light turquoise water for ages and soft soft white sand. Best beach in Bora Bora. Perfect for swimming and light and easy snorkeling. Not much coral but a surprising amount of fish! Lots of people, and a couple restaurants that we did not try.

Beach
Matira Plage in Bora Bora, French Polynesia, is a stunning destination that captures the essence of paradise. This picturesque beach boasts soft white sands and crystal-clear waters, making it perfect for leisurely strolls where you can wade out for half a mile in chest-deep water. The vibrant marine life here includes rays, groupers, and even sharks, offering fantastic snorkeling opportunities amidst calm waters.
We were here on our island private tour and our guide stopped for couple minutes to give us the chance to take some nice pictures. This place has one of the best views over the lagoon representing the southern point on the main motu and was one of the best stops in or tour. This location with a beautiful sea fauna and the variety of large fish attracted to this area including sharks, rays, groupers and large parrotfish has calm water where you can walk for hours with the water just under your arms. Beautiful clean warm white sand to lean on and nice side restaurants where you might snack make it one of the nicest beaches on earth. If your heading south from Vaitape, this is about 10 minutes drive and is a remarkable place to take some nice breathtaking pictures. Great stop weather you are on land or on a boat.

The mark is illy placed: Matira public beach is actually on the other side of the peninsula. The current mark aims at the intercontinental hotel PRIVATE beach, there is no public access at all on this side to the water

What a Beautiful and awesome beach. it is so public and it is surrounded by resorts. and has a cute white sands, and palm trees so nice for picture taking and picture for postcard. the water is beautiful so blue. and also they have a local store nearby.
SanXan A — Google review
Having been throughout the island chain this is easily the best water and best spot throughout. There is snorkeling and crystal clear waters and restaurants and hotels etc... It’s spread out a big so it sort of depends on your access etc. Some noteworthy places: Intercontinental Le Moana for hotel and amazing water and views, Bora Bora beach club for food and views (mosquitos in summer at night), Matira beach restaurant, Hotel Matai for pontoon boat rentals and access to the absolutely stunning coral garden not a half mile from shore.
Nicholas H — Google review
Beautiful sunrises and sun sets, soft white sand pleasant locals and peaceful. Must wear water shoes here due to the vast amounts of coral!

When you travel to Borabora, you should definitely go here. It's never a noisy beach, it's rather a quiet beach. Incredibly beautiful! Highly recommended!

Nice place with beautiful colours but there is no activity on this beach. The only things you can do are having a bath and eating in a snack. Snacks are affordable but service was quite poor. Restaurant are expensive (30 euros for a main course).

Matira beach is one of the nicest I've ever been to, you can walk out a half mile in chest deep water on nice white sand. I saw a few sting rays too. It fills up around noon if there's a cruise ship in town. Getting a dinghy onto shore isn't a problem, some people also dropped their anchor out a couple hundred meters.

ATV rental service
Bora Bora ATV / Quad Tours by Bora Bora Explorer offer a variety of land and water adventures, both during the day and at night. Their experienced guides take visitors to lesser-known and secluded spots on comfortable off-road vehicles. Visitors have praised their knowledgeable and patient guides who ensure everyone feels comfortable and has a great time. The tours provide an opportunity to see breathtaking views of the island and lagoon, making it a memorable experience for families or groups of friends visiting Bora Bora.
We had such a fun and amazing time on our ATV tour with Santi! He has so much knowledge to share about the island, which was awesome to learn more about its history and culture, and he has such a fun sense of humor. He also was extremely helpful in providing great guidance on how to handle the ATVs. We had a total blast, and really enjoyed the views and driving around the island. Thank you so much for the wonderful and memorable excursion!

This tour was indescribably awesome! Toiki was our guide and he was fantastic. From the moment he picked us up at our boat dock in the 4x4, we started the adventure on the spot. While driving to pick up other people, the views of the main island of Bora Bora was outstanding and eye opening. Mt Otemanu was so gorgeous. Once eventually settled in the ATVs, we took off with no time to waste and drove around the beautiful island and through amazing trails. Although the trails were pretty rocky and steep, the ATVs can handle a lot and I had so much fun navigating everything. The views were even better, especially as we were heading up Mt Popoti which offers a 360 view of Bora Bora! Toiki was very informative about the island's history and why things can be so expensive (hint: imports!). His energy was contagious which made the entire experience even better. He also took us to his family home where I met his amazing mom (or mother in law?) and was able to explore the beautiful grounds, which included a sacred marae and gorgeous views of the area. I have nothing but great things to say about Toiki and this ATV tour. Outstanding!

I had the most amazing time with Bora Bora Adventures. I went on the Jet Ski tour around the island of Bara Bara with Kakee. This was the first time I had been on a Jet Ski and he made me feel so safe. He led us on an awesome adventure across the lagoon and snakes too! Arii helped arrange the tour. She was so nice and helpful. She even offered to pick me up at our bungalow. I highly recommend Bora Bora Adventures! Thank you for such a wonderful time!!!! I will recommend them to all friends visiting Bora Bora.

We had our trip with Tuarii. Very cool guy, and full of good stories and laughs. The trip itself has great views and some exciting cliffs climbing with the jeep that sometimes felt like rollercoster rides. Definitely recommended for stunning view for the island.

We had a great half day tour with guide Tuwarii. The guy leads the tour with a lot of humor, without compromising the quality of his explanations. I also owe him a special thank for succeeding in finding my phone that fell from the vehicle during the bumpy ride - he passed the word between the other guides he knows and one of them (who was leading a completely different tour) found my phone and brought it to me.

Heiki was the best, the tour was so fun and informative. Offered drinks along the way, great conversation at each stop. And talking about the stops, gorgeous! We were at one of the resorts so it was well worth it to do the tour on the main island. You really do get such outstanding views at each stop. Highly recommend, a must!

I took this 4x4 jeep trip as part of my cruise package. Our guide Tuarii was friendly, helpful and informative on our tour around Bora Bora. He was happy to answer questions. He was also an excellent driver who took the off- road part of our tour with great care. It was fun with lots of bumps and steep tracks to go up and down. If you have a bad back I wouldn't advise you to take this tour! The 360° view from the mountain top was breath taking and the trip gave us a good overall feel for the beautiful island in over 3 hours.

We just got back from our safari today and couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. We were picked up on time and started our tour promptly. The beauty of the island was on full display from colorful plant life to delicious fruit tasting. The views were absolutely fantastic and the 360 degree view from atop the mountain takes the cake for me! Without a doubt you must ask for Frank to be your guide. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable about the culture, history, and flora of Bora Bora, but he is so personable and had my wife and I laughing the whole day! He answered every question we had all while masterfully navigating the steep mountainous paths in his father's amazing Land Rover! An incredible guide and wonderful person. Thanks Frank!

What a lovely find! We were able to pick up an art print and a handmade clay shell as souvenirs of our amazing trip visit to Bora Bora. We appreciated the affordable prices, and the fact that all of the art was from local artists. The French women who rang us up took the time to introduce us to the artists and wrap up our purchases very well.

Very special shop. Extremely well presented. Its like an art co op with many different artists showcasing their work here. Exclusive shopping amongst a sea of pearls and stamped cookie cutter items. This art stands out. Both prints and originals.

This shop is a must visit! As an art lover, the prints here start as low as five dollars and there is a wide range of art pieces to pick from, so you will definitely find something that you like. It’s also a great option for a gift to friends and family back home! We had a blast exploring this store on a rainy day, and the shop owner is so friendly and warm and a joy to talk with. This was mine and my girlfriend’s favorite shop out of all the ones we visited in Vaitape. We even came back a second time to purchase more art!

Walked in here intending to browse and walked out with half a dozen pieces! The talented artists here are too good to pass up! Pieces are as cheap as $5.00 ensuring something in everyone’s price point. We heavily debated an original piece that was unfortunately too small for our needs but nonetheless the experience was fantastic! The shop owner was so kind and gave us some great lunch recommendations that turned out to be some of our favorite meals.

Rudest shopkeeper on the island. I went in to find some art to remember a beautiful trip. Instead, the shopkeeper proceeded to scold me because she imagined I was taking photos. I did not take any photos, I came to buy art! Then she complained about me- in French - to the other customers in the shop, pointing at me for the offense she imagined. I was ready to buy some art, but I walked out because she was so rude. There are other art stores nearby, skip this one.

TANOA PRIVATE TOUR - BOAT Snorkeling Excursions Lagoon BORA BORA

Boat tour agency
Adventure sports center
Experience the ultimate highlight of a Bora Bora vacation with Tanoa Private Tour - Boat Snorkeling Excursions Lagoon. Tanoa provides a unique and intimate snorkeling experience with wild sharks, sting rays, manta rays, eagle rays, and tropical fish. His personalized approach includes sharing island facts, family history, and performing local songs on the ukulele. Visitors praise his professionalism and warmth while describing their time as unforgettable and fantastic.
Our travel agent, Tahiti By Carl, recommended and booked this tour for our group of 5. We had seen many groups leaving the resort on tours of the island, and I am sure they were having a good time, but the personal service that Tanoa provided was amazing! He picked us up in his pontoon and offered us beverages as he blew his horn and strummed his ukulele. We stopped first at a shallow spot where the stingrays, fish, and black tipped sharks were abundant. The stingrays genuinely seemed happy to see Tanoa, and he seems to have a personal relationship and familiarity with the creatures of his island. We then continued our cruise to a coral garden where we followed him as we snorkeled through it. The coral there was much more colorful than near our hotel. Our third stop was in really deep water, where manta rays and sea turtles swam underneath us. We then spent a few hours at his private motu, where he grilled us a wonderful bbq, showed us how to open coconuts, and serenaded us with more songs as we sat with our feet in the water. We all felt like this was a highlight of our trip, to spend time with such a friendly laid back islander, who showed us incredible sights.
JML D — Google review
Our day with Tanoa was absolutely one of the best days of our lives. I highly recommend you booking this private experience while in Bora Bora. Tanoa picked us up from the dock (we were sailing with Paul Gaugin) and took us to at least five different places to snorkel: One with Mantas, one with Eagle rays, a stingray and reef shark location, and then two different beautiful coral and fish locations. Tanoa goes in the water with you to help spot and show you the amazing creatures! So he’s very attentive to all needs. We also went to his family’s motu where he cooked an AMAZING feast for us while we enjoyed the views, water, and beverages. It was so relaxing and peaceful on his property. One amazing this about Tanoa that was a total surprise was how incredible of a musician he is, regularly playing his ukelele, providing the bass with a foot stomp, and singing local Polynesian songs. The experience could not have been better. Seriously, one of the BEST days of our lives!
Josef K — Google review
Tanoa is a hoot. This is a must do excursion. One of our best experiences while in Bora Bora. Sharks, Rays, Mantas, Eels. Lunch is to die for, oh my. Quite possibly the best meal of the week on a private motu.

Susan K — Google review
One of the best private tours ever taken. Tanoa was hospitable, entertaining, and cautious to our needs.
Gene D — Google review
The absolute highlight of our Bora Bora honeymoon vacation. Tanoa picked us up at our hotel on his boat and took us on safari to snorkel with wild sharks, sting rays, manta rays, eagle rays, and tropical fish. Different than a generic tour, Tanoa was the 'fish whisperer' and got us intimately close to all the animals. While boating around he shared facts of the island, his family's history there, and sang us beautiful local songs that he played on ukulele. Once done on safari, Tanoa took us to his family's motu and bbq'd us a delicious private lunch. This once-in-a-lifetime unforgettable experience was well worth the cost and we cannot recommend a Tanoa Private Tour enough!

The Lucky House Fare Manuia Restaurant is a casual eatery in Bora Bora that offers a varied menu of delicious food at prices cheaper than resort restaurants. It's known for its wood-fired pizza and relaxed atmosphere, with a full bar and swimming pool. The restaurant is popular among locals, especially during televised sporting events. While some patrons have praised the food and ambiance, others have noted areas for improvement in service quality.
I had a pleasant experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious and nicely presented, and the service was friendly and attentive. The overall atmosphere was comfortable, and the price-performance ratio was reasonable. I can definitely recommend this place to others.

Nice restaurant, but the food can be either hit or miss. + we tried the grilled mahi mahi and the tahitian shrimp stir fry. The stir fry was not exactly what we expected, but both dishes were tasty + nice atmosphere with music and a lot of people - the seafood pasta was below average and had very little seafood in it - the staff seems very overwhelmed by the number of people dining at the restaurant. Slow service and they messed up a few things for our order - a bit expensive for what it offers Better to make a reservation as the place was rather full.

We went for a dinner to the lucky house, a local recommanded us it. We tryd the cru de poisson, this was amazing tasty and fresh. They take raw tuna mixed with carrot onion and coconut milk and served with little rice. Absolute to recommand whrn you wanna eat typical local polynesian. We also tryd the lobster and the tagliatella. Everything was tasty and good. Staff was super friendly and explained us everything. We would come again.

We went here after watching the sunset because the Google reviews looked great — and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was lovely, the service was excellent, and the portions were generous. Most importantly, the food was delicious! Definitely a place I’d love to visit again. Highly recommended!

Great food. We gad the Vegetarian pizza. The crust is so crisp and thin, while the veggies added substance and the spicy oil topped it to perfection 👌!!!

They only served pizza and burgers at noon, so I ordered a pizza and a fresh pinapple juice. Both untasty. The juice I doubt it was really fresh. Also, the staff was unfriendly and the table was dirty.

Chaotic would be the best way to describe this place. Obviously it’s very popular, which causes large queues, slow service and tables so close you’re bumping elbows with fellow diners. The food seems nice enough, if you get what you order. I visited and requested 2 vegetarian burgers to go. The staff member taking the order then asked “well done or medium?”. I obviously looked confused, as he then asked how I would like my steak cooked. I pulled out a menu and pointed to the correct item on the menu, which he then repeated back to me, and produced a recipe for the correct item. This was then confirmed by 2 other staff who appeared 10-15 minutes later to double check what I had requested. There was clearly a degree of language barrier, as one of the ladies was repeating ‘no legume’, and when I wasn’t sure what she was saying, switched to listing salad ingredients (presumably for the burger). Once I received my order I walked back to my hotel, only to open the boxes and find double hamburgers. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to return as I was leaving a short time later to catch a flight. I have since emailed the restaurant with no response, which has led me to write this review. A very poor experience, and a very serious error on the part of the restaurant - thankfully it wasn’t an allergy issue!

Aloe Cafe is a charming spot located just a short 3-minute walk from the center of Vaitape in Bora Bora. It offers a rustic and modest atmosphere, providing a delightful contrast to the luxurious resort life on the island. The cafe's location in a small shopping center called Le Pahia makes it easily accessible for visitors exploring the area.
Delicious little cafe. Small but diverse menu. We had their chicken tacos and they were tasty. We went at 3:30 and it was busy with plenty of people. Outdoor seating under a canopy only. Great souvenir shop next door.

A good restaurant in Vaitape with a central location. The prices are, of course, a bit higher, as is the case everywhere on the island. I paid 3,000 CFP (€25.14) for a hamburger and a Coke. The drinks and food arrived quickly. I was asked about the doneness of the burger, and it was cooked as requested. The burger was solid, and the fries were well salted. However, it gets very crowded during peak times (12 PM) because tourists from the cruise ship come in.

Food was great, and much better than the food we had in luxury ones in high end resort 😅 Decent price with tasty food, it was really delicious and it was a good restaurant where you can spend time relaxing during your visit the main island or even waiting for your shuttle boat from the resorts. (My Pics doesn't look good but it was delicious and really worth it)

Located in downtown, this restaurant has a nice selection of food options. Snorkeled in the morning so I was hungry for lunch. The food was pretty tasty.

This is an unpretentious little place in the corner of a strip mall, well back from the road. There is a sign out front, but it's no bigger than those for the other businesses so you kind of have to look for it. All the tables are out on the covered patio in front, which seems pretty typical for Tahiti. I had a cheeseburger and fries, which were quite good. They actually ask how you want the burger cooked, and I told my wife that chain that's famous for their fries has nothing on this place. My wife had a chicken wrap, and loved it. Oh, and our server spoke perfectly acceptable English. The prices aren't much lower than what we would have paid at the resort, but the menu had more options, and, well, it made for a nice change of pace.

Aloe Cafe is my favourite cafe in Bora Bora, French Polynesia. The prices were affordable, and the most important thing is that the sumptuous😋 tastes of their food are unforgettable.🥰

I was pleasantly surprised by this cafe - the menu had a great selection of options including pasta and pizza. Service was prompt and the food was tasty. The staff had no problems communicating using English.

The breakfast is pretty expensive. About 30USD for their meal specials. We ordered a la carte and got pancakes, bacon and croissants. The croissants are made in house and rather hard covered in some sugar. The coffee is so so, kind of watery without much flavor. This is one of the few cafes, so some breakfast is better than none

La Villa Mahana is a highly exclusive and romantic restaurant located in Bora Bora. With only six couples seated per night, reservations need to be made months in advance. The intimate setting inside a Mediterranean-style house, adorned with Polynesian artwork and accompanied by classical music and candlelight, creates an unforgettable dining experience. Chef Damien Rinaldi-Dovio combines traditional Mediterranean techniques with tropical flavors to create exquisite dishes.
An Unforgettable Night at La Villa Mahana Dining at La Villa Mahana was truly the highlight of my stay in Bora Bora. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and impeccable service. The ambiance was intimate and romantic, creating the perfect setting for a special evening. The food was exceptional, with every dish crafted to perfection, blending French culinary artistry with the finest Polynesian flavors. Each course was a delight, showcasing the chef’s passion and expertise. The wine selection perfectly complemented the meal, elevating the entire experience. Adding to the magical atmosphere was the live piano music, which made the night even more special. It was a perfect blend of elegance, romance, and world-class cuisine. If you’re visiting Bora Bora, La Villa Mahana is a must-visit. Be sure to make a reservation well in advance, as this exclusive gem is highly sought after. An unforgettable experience that I will cherish forever!

An intimate and unique dining experience. We had an evening meal during our Honeymoon at Villa Mahana, and enjoyed an intimate VIP experience in a private dining area with 3-courses by their very-skilled chef. The atmosphere and service was incredibly special, with a speciality of seafood - especially the Lobster & Prawn risotto which was a real standout. The owner clearly takes great pride in the experience they offer, ensuring everything runs smoothly and going out of their way to make guests feel looked after. The seamless pickup and drop-off service also made the evening feel completely effortless. Thank you for accommodating us - it was a very special evening.

Villa Mahana is an absolute gem in Bora Bora. The setting is intimate and romantic, with only a few tables, and the service is warm and attentive. The food is on another level—easily Michelin quality. Every dish we had was creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The wine pairings were spot on, and the whole evening felt unforgettable. It’s pricey, but worth every penny. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in French Polynesia.

An absolutely magical and sensory delight. During a recent visit to the Westin Bora Bora, hubby and I ventured off campus to experience this highly recommended restaurant and it didn’t d not disappoint. La Villa Mahana was most certainly the culinary highlight of our Tahitian holiday. Everything was perfection; the ambiance - romantic, food - divine and generous, service - timely & friendly but not intrusive, and the value was tremendous. We were hosted like family one actually likes. Logistically, the concierge at our hotel made reservations and arranged return water taxi and shuttle service for &35 per person. The restaurant timed our dinner perfectly to allow for transportation curfews. Do not skip this when on Bora Bora. We can’t wait to come back.

Staying across the street, I couldn’t help but be drawn in by the warm, inviting ambience radiating from this beautiful little restaurant. The staff and chef were incredibly welcoming, and it ended up being one of the best culinary experiences of my life. The beef was cooked to perfection: tender, flavorful, and topped with the most incredible wine sauce. The wine pairing was absolute perfection as well. I didn’t know exactly what I was walking into, but I left with memories — and flavors — that will stay with me forever. A true hidden gem in Bora Bora that is well worth the visit.

Fabulous. We went on 2 half day excursions with Reef Discovery. The 1st was a group your with 2 other couples. The 2nd was a private. Both captained by Kevin. The group tour was amazing. The private was simply one of the best excursions we experienced on Bora Bora. Kevin might be the best guide in all of Bora Bora.

An amazing tour and a morning well spent! We had Ari and Noē guiding us and they did an excellent job! Everything ran smoothly, they have excellent local knowledge, were very friendly and gave us a great experience. We were lucky enough to see a large school of eagle rays, manta rays, and had an awesome time in the beautiful coral garden. They made it clear from the start that you aren’t guaranteed to see mantas or eagle rays as they are wild animals, however they will do their best to make it happen! Would highly recommend and ask for these two if you can! We hope to return one day.

Cannot recommend this tour enough. We did the tour with manta rays, eagle rays, and the coral garden and it was stunning. In additions to all the snorkeling, you also get a full island tour. Arii was our guide and he was awesome - funny, informative and a great voice. When we next visit Bora Bora, we’ll be booking here again and recommend you do so as well.

We had a fantastic snorkeling experience with Reef Discovery during our stay in Bora Bora. Niko and his crew took such good care of us and that my young toddlers had so much fun and kept asking for more snorkeling. We took our 4 YO and 2 YO with us and felt completely safe snorkeling the whole time. These guys are so experienced that they know what to suggest, just gotta trust them and relax and have fun!
Irene Y — Google review
We did a 3hr private lagoon tour with Reef Discovery which was decent. I am comparing it to another private tour we did in Moorea which was a bit better. Pros: fast and comfortable boat, got to go around the whole island of Bora Bora, and the coral garden we snorkelled near the airport was spectacular, when we didn’t find manta rays, our guide took us to the shark/sting ray spot to make up for it which was appreciated. Cons: our guide tried to find us manta rays and eagle rays at several different spots, but we didn’t manage to see any. The con isn’t about not seeing the animals (as obviously nobody can control that), but the guide only tried to see if they were present from inside the boat, not by getting into the water for a quick look. I asked if we could just pop into the water briefly to see if any would show up, and there is also coral to be seen at the same time anyway, but we were told no. This took up a decent chunk of our time, just boating around and looking above the water to see anything. I would have preferred we given the opportunity to get into the water to look, and see coral at the same time, rather than just trying to gauge from the surface what was below. The fruit platter was tiny! But we were thankful to have a quick snack at the end of the tour.

We had such a great snorkeling tour with Reef Discovery, aka Fabien! It was fantastic: beautiful fishes, manta rays, sharks, wonderful submarine landscape, detailed information. It was so great that we booked a second tour with Fabien the next day. Totally different spots, as extraordinary as the first ones: beyond the reef, wonderfully cute butterfly fisch, intrigued sharks, coming to see us. These 2 tours in a totally safe environment, with a highly experienced, professional and caring guide. You can add a nice and friendly sense of humor. We are simply looking forward to our next experience with Reef Discovery. Thank you so much, Fabien.

Fabulous tour!! Our guide Mana was wonderful - a native of Bora Bora, who obviously loved his island and his job. He worked hard to find the school of eagle rays, as well as finding a manta ray. Then took us to a spectacular coral garden to snorkel, and finally took the boat around the whole island. I would highly recommend this company and hope to visit again some day
Carol H — Google review
Kevin and Mana were great guides. Were able to see a few manta rays and a group of sleeping eagle rays. They were also really good about pointing out different marine life along the way, such as the mighty stone fish, non-star-shaped starfish, and fire corals to name a few. I also like how they explained the formation of Bora Bora.

Mt. Pa’ia Summit

Hiking area
Mount Pahia Summit, the second-highest peak in Bora Bora, offers a challenging hike for adventure enthusiasts. With an elevation of 2000 feet, it provides breathtaking views of surrounding islands. The climb is adorned with vibrant flora and wildflowers, making it a picturesque journey. However, the trek is demanding and not suitable for inexperienced hikers. The route can be tricky to navigate at times, requiring careful attention to avoid getting lost.
We did this hike in March this year, and it was amazing! Took us over 6h round-trip with stops for pictures and snacks. It's a bit tricky to find the starting point, but reviews here are very helpful. The hike itself is difficult but manageable. It has parts where you need to climb up the rocks with the rope. Not recommend to go there after rainfall, the rocks can be too slippery. The view is spectacular, though.
Natalia B — Google review
Hardest hike I’ve done, hands down. Expect lots of ropes, take 3L plus of water. Amazing views from the top, coconuts and flowers galore
Amy C — Google review
This is a great short hike with beautiful views! We found the trail head from the west side of the island. It's a dirt road that heads up to the antenna towers. The top of hike was a bit difficult as there were rocks and steep hills to climb up but very doable.
Kelly N — Google review
Stunning view! But it's a really tough hike. I asked myself many times why the heck I'm doing this. On some parts it's really bad marked. We started from vaitape. But you can start it from 3 different ways. We went alone without Tourguide. It's possible to do. You need to climb many parts up with a rope. So make sure if you go alone to be an experienced hiker. But the core on the end it's outstanding
Sabina K — Google review
One of the most beautiful views in Polynesia, but the hike is not for everyone. We are intermediate hikers, but we do some climbing which really helps for this one as it is not typical hike. We needed 6+hours to finish the whole trip and about 5liters of water between the two of us. We were lucky that it was a bit cloudy and not super warm. About 2/3 of the climb are in the shade, but it's Polynesian weather so you will be sweating...a lot. I don't think the route is badly marked and we never really felt like getting lost (paying attention to path is necessary tho). Hardest part is getting started but locals are very helpful. You start on the side road near Tahiti pearl market and turn left at the end of the road (better ask if not sure). Afterwards you go about 15minutes through overgrown grass/bush until you get into the jungle. Then it's straightforward following of visible path mostly. The hike is not long but very intense as you go up a lot. You should feel confident climbing steep paths with ropes as support and not be afraid of hights. Some parts are closer to via ferrata than regular a hike. Don't forget good shoes, sunscreen and mosquito repellent. It can get slippery when wet. If you still decide to do this, which you totally should, your reward will be some of the most stunning views in Southern Pacific.

I summit Mt.Ohue yesterday 10/21/22 Mt.pahia is a stone throw away but i had to descent fast due to rain clouds on its way. The trail conditions was muddy and wet, very dangerous and i suggest you use a guide if you do not know how to track trails bec you're gonna have to, its not marked at all. it always rain in the morning. I started my ascent at 7am and didn't summit Mt. Ohue till 10am. I'm an advanced type of hiker at class 3 is my best zone but this trail is touching the class 4 level bec you have to pull yourself up with the rope at least more than 5 sections going up and down. If the trail condition is wet, muddy, reconsider it for a dry day. I dont care what kind of fancy hiking shoes you have, you're gonna slip-slide down period. The first rain approaches 30mins after i descent so i have plenty of tree cover for the rain. The second rain was after an hour after i reach the end of the trail at the bottom. I was the only one at the summit that day and passed another one at the beginning of the trail, i gave him a fair warning of trail conditions and he proceeded. It rained really hard after a 15mins when i passed him. Don't bring your kids or any non agile adult past 40. This isn't a walk in the park. The views are breathtaking. I would not attempt this again in wet conditions.

A great vista you will witness, should you climb the towering peak. You must possess great fitness, If exhilarating adventure you seek.

We had a very hard hike up and down the Mt. Pahia. Whith very dry and safe condition. The view was breathtaking and made us forget all the hard walk up. As almost everybody i just can confirm .... don't walk alone and better with an expert. It's a very hard 2.5 walk up and not even less hard down. 3l of water are just enougth, and the heat is increadble. But finally all worth!

Art Gallery & Studio ALAIN DESPERT in Bora Bora is a must-visit destination for art lovers. This gallery displays exceptional artwork by the renowned artist Alain Despert, and visitors can enjoy a private tour of his work. The hospitality provided by Alain and his wife Karen is unparalleled, making the experience even more special. The gallery's shipping arrangements are handled perfectly, ensuring that visitors can take home their favorite pieces without any hassle.
My daughter and I had a memorable experience visiting with Alain and Karen Despert at their lovely gallery, studio, and home. They were so warm and welcoming. Alain's art is truly joyful and fabulous! We feel fortunate to enjoy two special pieces in our home.

Alain’s art is gorgeous and truly one of a kind. Not to mention Karen and Alain were the best hosts I’ve ever experienced at an art gallery tour! Karen picked us up from the dock and dropped us off, and when we were there, they gave us a full tour of their home, gallery and studio, provided delicious espressos, and showed us video of Alain’s incredible accomplishments throughout the decades (with Alain providing live personal commentary of his experiences!). They showed us every individual art piece they had (the ones that weren’t on exhibit elsewhere) and I loved hearing about Alain’s art and inspiration directly from the genius himself - that’s a first for me, for someone at this level. So humble, so kind, so happy. What a lovely experience! Thank you both for your warm welcome and kindness. Hope to see you again someday.

We visited Bora Bora in January of 2024 and discovered artwork by Alain Despert in the Four Seasons and the St. Regis. We were immediately captivated by his whimsical style and creativity. We had been searching for a piece of art for a specific area in our new home for over a year and we knew we both found that piece as soon as we walked into their lobby. We contacted the studio immediately, Karen was quick to reply and amazing to work. She set up tours in all the galleries on the island that Alain’s work was represented in and we both fell in love with a blue mosaic fish vase with flowers. We contacted Karen when we got home from our trip and purchased this piece, from start to finish she responded to every email, coordinated the transaction and followed through with us daily until our painting was literally hanging in our home. This studio, Alain's work and Karen are a tremendous gift that is very rare to find. We can’t wait to visit Bora Bora again and meet in person!

Ice cream shop
Italian restaurant
Iaorana Gelato is the initial Italian ice cream store located on Bora Bora Island, which provides a wide selection of unique and exotic flavors to suit every palate. In addition to their homemade gelato, they also offer a variety of European desserts such as cookies, muffins, cakes, macarons, and more. Furthermore, customers can enjoy traditional Italian dishes including pizza during lunchtime.
Some of the best gelato I have had! Super cute little shop, great flavors and very reasonably priced. Definitely make a stop here when in Vaitape

incredible gem in a quite well hidden place . the best to find your way to this ICE CREAM parlour is to station straightaway in the parking of BANQUE DE TAHITI. GELATO stands at the end of the parking lot and there is no outside parking.
GILBERT P — Google review
This is a local gem! The prices are amazing and the food options on the menu are very diverse. Here is a pic of the current menu as of Sept 25. The Ice cream/Gelato is 3.5 a scoop all the way up. ;) Staff is smart and very aware of the line and is very attentive to everything. They are kind and everyone helps with how horrible our lack of knowing french or any languages on top of English. Thank you for a solid food option and a local feel as well as being clean.

We stopped here after dinner for a sweet treat and my oh my, what a treat indeed. We got Caramel Sal (salted caramel) and cheesecake, which had real strawberries and crust. Both flavors were so delicious. Already plan to come back tomorrow to try more!
Christina M — Google review
So many flavors to choose from that it’s hard to pick up one or two. We came here three times during our stay in Bora Bora and absolutely love their gelato! Service was very friendly too.

Although the place doesn t look nice, the icecream is really tasty. I enjoyed ginger, passionfruit and caramel flavours on a hot afternoon there.

Very refreshing and delicious gelato! Must try after having meals near by. FYI - they only take cash!

Wonderful and delicious treat after a long walk on a hot day! Coco bono favorite flavor for our group today, followed by raspberry cream. Air conditioning is a bonus.

Day 4

Center of town
For day 4, we recommend exploring the center side of town. Start the day off with Tahiti Pearl Market Bora Bora, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Lagoon Limousine - Luxury boat tour in Bora Bora. All together, your day would be filled with about 5 hours of non-stop fun.

Tahiti Pearl Market Bora Bora

Jewelry store
Tahiti Pearl Market is a renowned jewelry store known for its exquisite Tahitian pearls. These pearls, considered some of the most beautiful and coveted in the world, are cultivated by this family-run business. Starting from Takaroa atoll, their operation has expanded to five atolls in the Tuamotu Archipelago where pearl oysters are cultured. The various locations offer a diverse range of colors, sizes, and quality.
We visited basically all pearl stores in Vaitape looking for an exceptional pearl to be combined with a pendant and necklace. The Tahiti Pearl Market was outstanding in selection, variety, and quality of the offer. We are talking about thousands of good quality pearls on display plus a large selection of jewelry. Here you buy from the source since they operate pearl farms across the islands. By the way, it became apparent during our visits in many stores that the prices here are not high if you really compare the quality of the pearls to the cheaper ones in Tahiti or elsewhere (referring to the statements in some other review). You really need to have a close look to judge the price-value ratio. In the end we chose a very very nice big (15mm) pearl of exceptional color and they put it on a necklace within 70min. We are grateful to Tinaia who consulted us with competence and without being pushy. In the end she drove us home to the hotel. This place we fully recommend. We would go there again any time.

I visited this shop after hearing good things from friends and seeing it recommended on social media. I wasn’t looking to spend a lot—just wanted to purchase a couple of pearls as souvenirs and gifts. Fabrizia initially showed me some first-quality pearls priced at over 600, but I made it clear that my budget was around 100–200. She then brought out a tray of third-quality pearls, which were about 140 each. I selected two and asked to see the settings. The tray she showed me had only more expensive options, with the cheapest setting priced around 3,500 Pacific Francs. Wanting to stay within budget, I picked the simplest and most affordable option she offered. She was trying to upsell me the whole time like trying to get me to buy earrings etc. She did kindly set the pearls for me quickly, as I had a ferry to catch. However, I was disappointed by what happened afterward. When I asked if they had boxes—since one pearl was meant as a gift—I was told they had been out of boxes for months across all their stores. That didn’t seem true, especially since I noticed boxes in the back. Later, I spoke with a friend who had visited just two days before me. She purchased a first-quality pearl and received a box without any issue. She also showed me a photo of a much broader selection of settings, many well under 2,000 Pacific Francs—options I was never shown. What initially felt like a decent experience turned into disappointment. There was a clear lack of transparency, and I couldn’t help but feel misled. If there had been an extra charge for a box, I would have gladly paid. But being told there were none—while seeing them myself—felt dishonest. And only being shown higher-priced settings when affordable ones clearly existed made the interaction feel more like an upsell than genuine customer service. I am attaching a photo of the available settings I saw from social media for reference. Hope this will help you in the future

Bought my first Pearl here 5 years ago on my honeymoon and came back to pick out matching earrings and a loose pearl. Such an easy experience. The ladies know their stuff and were easily able to pick out a match to the Pearl I already owned. There are many options for pearls on the island but this is my favorite! Highly recommend!

What a fun experience! Fabrizia was fantastic! I let her know my budget and my likes/dislikes and she delivered! I didn’t feel pressured but supported by her in my decision. We went to about 7 pearl stores before making our purchase here. Highly recommend!

Its Its overwhelming when you get to cruise port. So many places to choose from. We stayed a week in Bora Bora and literally went into a lot of pearl shops websites recommended. Thank you Timaia. I love my pearls. What a fantastic place. Timaia and staff were amazing. They explained about quality ,shapes sizes of black pearls. Timaia was very calm took her time with me showing me different collections and things matching what i liked. Great prices! Great staff! Maururu Tahiti Pearl Market.

One of the best shopping experiences I’ve ever had. They remained open late for us. 2 family members bought some pearls, and they were so helpful and quite transparent. They made the necklace right there pretty quickly. We had to go to a restaurant half a mile away afterwards and they literally dropped us off there after the store closed ! And even called ahead to make a reservation! Way above and beyond.
Ahmed M — Google review
We wandered in wanting some kind of black pearl earrings. They have a huge selection of loose pearls and are able to set it into jewelry as per your request. Tinaia was very friendly and was able to answer questions. I gave her a budget and she helped me pick out loose pearls for three pairs of pearl studs. I returned later in the day after lunch and a bit of an island tour, and the pieces were all ready for me. She was very helpful with all of the paper work as well for the duty free purchase.

Wow! Fabrizia had such a charming way of helping me choose pearls that would fit my budget and my taste. It was just great! I can highly recommend. Their expertise and patience is just remarkable! Thank you

Embark on an unforgettable adventure with the Aquabike Adventure, a unique experience that allows you to explore the stunning turquoise lagoons of Bora Bora and Maurice Island aboard an open underwater scooter for two. As you slowly descend into the crystal-clear waters from a platform, you'll be accompanied by a scuba diver to discover the vibrant marine life below.
Incredible experience - never been diving before and this was a great taste of the underwater world. The laws of physics allowing the air bubble mechanism to work really intrigued us. Guides were excellent and we definitely recommend this tour!

(Translated by Google) Well ok I'm 2 years late to write a comment but it's better late than never ;) We took 1 scooter for 2 to enjoy as a couple and we loved the underwater scooter, it's an original experience to do at least once in your life. The seabed is obviously magnificent. If you don't know how to use a snorkel, it's a very good way to take full advantage of a depth of 3m while breathing normally! Our 2 guides/entertainers were very friendly, they reassured us, and taught us a lot of things (notably the anecdote about the parrot fish) and were very good at making themselves understood without speaking underwater!

We took an afternoon/evening cruise with Jeremy and Benjamin - WOW. Boat was fantastic. Super comfortable and great open space for our family of 6. Nice Bose sound system to stream your own music. Hit 3 different fantastic snorkeling spots - Jeremy is an outstanding in-water guide; took us deep and found a ‘flock’ (?) of 13 eagle rays that were kind enough to hang around with us. The changed and cruised around the lagoon until sunset. A+++ experience - these guys are outstanding. Don’t hesitate to book with them.

An absolute must and worth every single penny. We spent a fabulous day on the boat, exploring the islands and the many beautiful snorkelling spots. Swam with eagle rays and on remote locations. Had a beautiful lunch on the main island. So relaxed, amazing company and no hesitation in recommending!!

We are here in Bora Bora for our honeymoon and found lagoon Limousine online prior and knew we had to book. Benjamin and Jeremy truly provided a luxury experience that we will be talking and dreaming about for the rest of our lives. By far the best experience on our honeymoon! Their boat was beautiful and they knew the best spots around the island, from relaxing on white sand to seeing a group of eagle rays!! They were an absolute delight to spend 4 hours with. We will be back and could not recommend this luxury excursion more if you want a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Bora Bora!

Benjamin and Jeremy did a fantastic! Six of us from a cruise ship in port for the day. While the weather wasn't perfect our day was! The guys gave us a great tour, time for swimming, snorkeling, lunch (on us). They provided towels and delicious mango!! They went above and beyond for us because we did have some rain but then the sun came out and all was well. A wonderful time!

Lagoon Limousine Bora Bora made our 10th anniversary complete and perfect. Imho, the service deserves more than 5 stars. With Lagoon Limousine Bora Bora, you can get to see and experience every bit of Bora Bora with privacy and you will be served by very professional and friendly staff. Our tour was completed with the indescribably beautiful sunset, just outside of the atoll. Snorkeling was beyond my imagination. Nothing can go wrong with these guys. Can't wait to take my kids next time! Thank you so much!

Absolutely incredible sunset cruise with my wife! Jeremy and Benjamin took out all the stops to make it an evening we won’t soon forget. Champagne, wine, water, cheese and charcuterie plate; they served up anything we desired. And slowly cruised towards the end to watch the sun fall below the horizon. From the cruise itself, to working with Billie on the logistics, there is no other way to go than Lagoon Limousine. Thank you so much for making the evening so special!

If you go to Bora Bora this is a must!! Absolutely wonderful. The gentlemen that that started this business do it right for their passengers. Intimate, romantic and perfect. The scenery could not be better, the horsd, oeuvres and champagne put great cap on the evening. Highly recommend.

Nestled in the heart of Bora Bora, Bloody Mary's is a beloved Tiki hut-style bar and grill that has been charming visitors since 1979. This iconic establishment, known for its laid-back vibe and sandy floors, offers a unique dining experience where guests can select their fresh catch of the day from an ice bed before it’s grilled to perfection. With stunning views of Mount Otemanu and local music setting the mood, it's no wonder this spot attracts both locals and tourists alike.
A must when you visit Bora Bora! We dined here for dinner and loved the atmosphere, how you selected your entree, and live music. We ended up coming back two more times during our stay in Bora Bora for cocktails. Highly recommend this unique restaurant and bar!! My husband and I talk about Bloody Mary’s often and hope to come back one day!

The legendary, bloody Mary’s. It’s a must visit while in Bora-Bora. The atmosphere is over the top. They have a list of all the famous celebrities that have visited their which everyone should know. The daiquiris weren’t so good at the bar but the margaritas, especially the mango margarita was amazing. Believe it or not they have happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30. Buy one get the 2nd one for a dollar. Food is really good. The lobster was amazing. It’s not cheap cheap in the islands. Whatever you do, make sure you go to the men’s bathroom flush handle😂
Greg A — Google review
This place has been here since 1979. Reviews made me expect a little bit run down location. It was not. The place was very nicely decorated. Tables, chairs and the building in general looked like they were just refinished. We moored our boat in the bay just a short dingy ride to their dock. The sound of Polynesian music comes from inside. A live four man band plays in the center of this open air restaurant. Their music. Was amazing and they had joy in their faces while playing. Lots of authentic Polynesian songs, but over half of them were cover songs of popular American music like Pink Floyd, Elvis, and many others. When listening, you don’t even realize it is a cover song as it sounds, so Polynesian. We kept it simple and just ordered bloody Mary’s for drinks. After ordering drinks The food choices are done differently. You don’t have a normal menu. Instead, you walk over to a giant table of ice full of your food choices. The attendant or chef points to each one and explains the meal. Lots of choices. All look great. We each chose our appetizer and main course. we got back to her seat the food was prepared quickly and at our table. Overall, I expected an old place that you just had to go to because of all travelers go to bloody Mary. They do highlight all the celebrities by their names on the wall that have been here. I guess now we are one of them. The meal was great, the people were great! We will be back when this area again.
David M — Google review
Today we went on an ATV excursion and ended up here and Bloody Mary’s. This was the perfect place to wrap up our morning. Everyone we extremely nice and the food was super tasty. They actually had chickens walking around and roosting which made us chuckle. I ended up getting the lobster and it was very good. Came out fantastic. We snacked down a bit on the food and then waited for our bus to come. So we bellied up to the bar to enjoy some great cocktails and amazing local beer. If we are ever back on the island, this will be a must stop for us.
Cory M — Google review
Great place to hang out with friends during the evening. There is plenty of space to sit down in the outside zone and inside the bar. They usually have live music and a great selection of drinks, not just Bloody Marys, and will cook fresh fish and seafood for you in front of you. They have a happy hour 5:30 to 6:30 pm and will be open until 10:00 or more. The entire area is well decorated and bears over the virgin beach sand. They have a little history sheet on how it all started, written in several languages at the entrance, together with the bus schedule to drive you back to your lodge, and a list of famous people who have visited the place. Oh! they even have a souvenir store to take a tangible memory with you before you leave. Totally recommend while in Bora Bora!
Victor D — Google review
Fantastic place to eat! The dishes were tasty. The cocktails were highly refreshing. Great variety on both the food & drinks menu. Excellent value for money too! I would highly recommend a visit!

What an incredible stroke of luck! We were in town to enjoy the local favorite BBQ night!! They only do this once every 3 or 4 months so I felt very lucky. Great atmosphere, tons of locals, delicious food and plenty to drink. Local band was incredible, couldn't have enjoyed myself more.

Super fun atmosphere and great food, too! Choose from their daily live catch menu... we had delicious lobster and meka (swordfish). Yummy cocktails menu, too! And, maybe see a celebrity while you're there! (We saw Rob Lowe)... Bloody Mary's is a MUST DO on Bora! Need reservations for dinner, but can have a drink at the bar anytime...
