Cape Tribulation in 2 days

If you only have 2 days to spend in Cape Tribulation, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Cape Tribulation offers the rare chance to experience two World Heritage sites side by side, where the Daintree Rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef. Visitors can walk secluded beaches backed by dense jungle, explore rainforest boardwalks, and spot wildlife such as cassowaries and tree-kangaroos in nearby areas. Offshore, snorkeling and boat tours reveal coral reefs and tropical marine life in relatively uncrowded conditions. The area has a laid-back, remote feel, with limited development that emphasizes eco-tourism and nature-based activities.
With favorites like Cape Trib Beach House, Turtle Rock Cafe, and Masons Café, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like On The Turps so you can get the best taste of Cape Tribulation while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Mount Alexandra Lookout, located off Cape Tribulation Road, offers a stunning panoramic view of the surrounding landscape. The journey to the summit adds an adventurous element to the experience, whether by hiking or driving. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Port Douglas in the distance and capture memorable portraits with both the reef and Daintree on display. It's recommended to visit early in the morning for picturesque sunrise views. The lookout is popular among travelers who stop to take photos before continuing their journey.
even on an overcast rainy day, the view was pretty great. there is currently road construction taking place adjacent to the entrance, so it may require a bit of waiting to get in, but views are definitely worth it. on a clear day, you can see the low isles among other places.

This view is definitely one of the many highlights of visiting the Daintree. A picturesque lookout that showcases iconic destinations of Cairns and Far North Queensland

Great view but limied parking and no amenities, recommend a visit if passing through to something else.
Peter L — Google review
This was a great lookout! Stunning gorgeous views of the coast with views of Port Douglas!

4 stars because there was no sun. But a beautiful lookout over the sea, the island, and a lovely nature reserve.

What a stunning view of the Daintree river, ocean and Snapper Island, even on a cloudy day. Well worth a 5 minute stop to take in the view.
Nigel — Google review
Nestled high above the lush canopy of the Daintree Rainforest, Mount Alexandra Lookout in Walu Wugirriga is a breathtaking window into one of Australia’s most stunning landscapes. This remarkable vantage point offers an unparalleled view over the Eastern Kuku Yalanji Country, where ancient cultural heritage and natural beauty converge in a way that feels almost spiritual. The lookout itself is easy to access, making it a must-visit stop along the journey through the world’s oldest rainforest. As you step out and take in the sweeping vista, you’ll be greeted with an awe-inspiring panorama stretching from the foothills of Mount Alexandra all the way to the sparkling Coral Sea. On a clear day, the view extends over Cape Kimberley, Snapper Island, Low Isles, and even as far as Double Island and Buchan Point, making it an incredible place to appreciate the diverse landscapes of Far North Queensland. The significance of this location goes beyond its visual appeal. The name Walu Wugirriga translates to ‘look about’ in the Eastern Kuku Yalanji language, an invitation to pause and take in the beauty and meaning of this special place. The Eastern Kuku Yalanji people, the Traditional Owners of this land, have a deep and enduring connection to the environment here, and their stories are woven into the mountains, rivers, and coastline you see from the lookout. Respecting their cultural heritage and acknowledging the spiritual significance of the land adds an even greater depth to the experience. From this vantage point, the Daintree River snakes its way toward the sea, a reminder of the rich ecosystems that thrive in the region. The backdrop is framed by the Cassowary Range, the Murray Prior Range, Macalister Range, and even the towering Harris Peak (1,068m), all part of the ancient, undisturbed wilderness that makes this part of Queensland so extraordinary. To the south, Mount Danbulan (731m) and the rugged terrain of Hann Tableland National Park offer a glimpse into the untamed beauty that defines this region. Port Douglas and Wonga can be spotted in the distance, a testament to how this lookout seamlessly ties together the rainforest, mountains, and coastal beauty of the area. Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or simply someone seeking a moment of peace and reflection, Mount Alexandra Lookout is a place that will leave a lasting impression. Managed by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service under the Department of Environment and Resource Management, the lookout is well-maintained and provides safe access for visitors. It’s an ideal stop to appreciate the grandeur of the Daintree before continuing further into the rainforest or toward Cape Tribulation. Mount Alexandra Lookout is more than just a scenic stop—it’s a profound reminder of the deep cultural history, ecological significance, and sheer natural wonder of the region. Take a moment, breathe in the fresh rainforest air, and truly look about—because this is a view that will stay with you forever.

The journey to the summit, whether by hiking or driving, adds an adventurous element to the experience. The Daintree Rainforest, located in tropical North Queensland, is the oldest rainforest in the world and offers a perfect blend of outdoor activities and cultural education. Visitors can explore the lush greenery through guided walks, visit waterfalls, learn about bat rehabilitation at Australia's largest facility, and enjoy swimming in Mossman Gorge. The area also features a 10m-high aerial walkway and a canopy tower for breathtaking views of the surroundings.
It's the highlight of my East Coast adventure to be honest. We rented a car to have all the freedom and it was amazing. So many wild animals, the trees and plants are great. On our way back we stopped at a swimming hole. Do keep in mind that the ferry is rather expensive.
Casperliba — Google review
Beautiful forests, and has a lot of interesting history. Would recommend to do a tour because otherwise there’s not too much to do. Private tours let you go to interior walks and learn more about the place. We did it by ourselves and still was amazing, on our own pace.
Pedro I — Google review
One of the most beautiful places in this world. It's stunning nature, guided into by the expert Neill all through his huge property area plenty of wildlife. Worth go into the deep forest guided by an expert feeling secure.
CARLOS M — Google review
Drove up from Cairns - an easy drive of about 2 hours - along the scenic Queensland coast. Visited the Daintree River and Daintree Village. Didn't visit the Discovery Centre due to time and the $51 ferry cost to get over the river. Very quiet and peaceful area.
Andrew C — Google review
I had an incredible time exploring the Daintree Rainforest! The drive through the area was absolutely stunning lush greenery all around and plenty of scenic spots to stop and soak it all in. It felt like driving through a living, breathing postcard. Even better was the walk along the forest walking track. It was peaceful, immersive, and gave me a real appreciation for the ancient beauty of this place. The boardwalks made it easy to navigate while still feeling close to nature, and I loved spotting unique plants and hearing the sounds of the rainforest around me. Whether you’re into nature, photography, or just looking to disconnect and enjoy the serenity, the Daintree delivers. Highly recommend it!
Subas S — Google review
Daintree Forest is stunning even in rain. Discovery Center costs $100 for a family, which feels steep for educational experiences. The ferry is $40 for a brief ride, making a visit pricey. Mason Swimming Hole is a good value at $1, and the area offers beautiful beaches and free nature walks.
Stephan F — Google review
The walking path was very easy to navigate. The Rainforest was amazing with a stream running thru it.

Masons Café is a multi-functional establishment located in the heart of Cape Tribulation, easily identifiable from Cape Tribulation Rd with convenient parking. The café offers an array of unique lunch options alongside a swimming hole that's safe from crocodiles and stingers. Their menu features distinctive dishes such as crocodile and jackfruit, all made with locally sourced fresh produce including tea, coffee, fruit, and fish.
Stopped in for a coffee and a walk to the waterhole. Coffee was really really nice! Staff were so friendly and polite and helpful with information! General store attached too.

Masons Cafe was our lunch stop during our bus tour. We filled in our lunch order whilst on the bus and it was ready and waiting for us upon arrival. Very delicious and enjoyable. The setting was lovely and a walk to Masons Swimming Hole just for a look did not disappoint. If you want to swim in Masons Swimming hole there is a $1.00 fee.

DOG FRIENDLY!!! Understandably, there's not too much that allows dogs to stop in for a visit travelling through the Daintree, but Mason's Cafe is one of the very few exceptions. This dainty cafe/ shop is a great place to stop in and get a decent bite to eat and a great range of milkshakes and smoothies! If you love a burger 🍔 this cafe is a must visit. Dogs are allowed only at the tables below the stairs to the main eatery and the grassed areas out the front, not the main eating area. There's a proper flushing toilet connected to the back of the kitchen with basin and hand dryer. For $1, you can safely swim at the swimming hole out the back.
Grego — Google review
Stumbled across this hidden little café while heading up toward Cape Tribulation. The menu is simple and mostly burger-based, which works when you’re hungry and just want something hearty. The burgers were decent—nothing mind-blowing, but tasty enough to hit the spot after a long drive. Don’t come expecting gourmet, but if you’re into rustic, no-frills feeds, you’ll be happy. Should check out the croc burger! The real highlight? The swimming hole. Just $1 to take a dip, and it’s a refreshing bonus in the tropical heat. It’s not flashy, but it's clean, quiet, and makes for a great little break from the road. Especially when you can’t swim anywhere else - dam those crocodiles. Service was casual and a bit slow, but friendly. The whole place has a laid-back, slightly wild charm that fits the rainforest surroundings. If you're in a rush or expecting something polished, this probably isn’t your place. But if you’ve got time and a sense of adventure, it’s worth a quick stop. Great for a breather, a basic bite, and a splash before heading deeper into the Daintree.

Fabulous Emu Burger! Best Burger I've had in a while! 🍔 Moderate wait but there is a sign saying they're looking for staff so understandable at a busy Cafe. The swimming hole was beautiful! So many fish, lush trees and the water had some pretty deep areas too (so i couldn't stand)! Pretty busy though but big enough that it doesn't feel too crowded. *dogs* I chose this cafe ages ago on my itinerary as I read somewhere it was dog friendly. Only upon leaving the venue did I see a sign at the front saying "no dogs past this point" ie no dogs in restuarant or at swimming hole. Oopsies. I do apologise for missing that. No staff stopped me or said anything though. Xx

Loved this place for the exotic burgers with kangaroo, emy and crocodile plus variety fruit smoothies. We tried croc and emy, all delicious! Plus swimming spot is a must on a hot day! You can change in the caffee toilet and then 1 min walking distance to the swimming spot. Recommended!

Great spot to stop if you are visiting Masons swimming hole or on the way to Cape Tribulation. The menu is very interesting. We tried the emu burger and kangaroo burger. Both were very delicious! They also have normal menu items like beef burger if you are not interested in unique food. They have a lot of interesting smoothie flavours as well as normal flavoured. The smoothies are made with fruit grown locally on the farm as well! We tried the Abiu smoothie (caramel flavour) and the jackfruit smoothie. Both were very refreshing.

Cape Tribulation Camping offers a unique beachfront camping experience, allowing visitors to pitch their tents practically in the sand and wake up to stunning Coral Sea views. With rates starting at $27 per night, campers can enjoy the added bonus of having beachside campfires just outside the grounds. In addition to beach activities, visitors can take a peaceful walk through Mardja, where they may encounter wildlife, birds, and mangroves while enjoying the tranquility of nature.
Had a wonderful 2 night stay here at a powered beach front site under some nice rainforest canopy. Facilities are excellent, very clean, and sites are spacious and flat. Having an onsite bar and restaurant (The Sand Bar) that serves nice wood fired pizzas and burgers is a nice bit of luxury, can definitely see ourselves coming back here in future even with some non camping folks who can stay in the lovely onsite cabins.
Richard S — Google review
I usually write a lot of reviews – and most of them are positive. You can see that clearly on my profile. But in this case, I feel absolutely forced to leave a 1-star review. Instead of showing even a minimum of trust or understanding, the campground chose to review their security cameras to “check” whether what I said was true – even timing how many minutes I stood in line. That level of suspicion towards a paying customer is simply absurd. The fact is: we would have had to set up our tent in the dark and rain, and for that situation there was absolutely no understanding. I paid for a service I did not receive (we never parked, never used any facilities) – yet they refused a refund. What made it worse: I was accused of being disrespectful, even though I spoke clearly, politely and friendly. I even thanked them for their time and wished them a good day. When asked, they could not point to a single sentence where I had supposedly been rude. This entire experience was disappointing and deeply unprofessional.

We camped in a powered site. Well kept camp ground. Amenities, grounds and camp kitchen well maintained and very clean. Staff do a great job. Huge cafe / bar are with massive TV, pool table & games. Definitely try the pizza at least once. We had it on our last night and it was fantastic. Great beach to walk along and can get to a couple of the local board walks not far away down the beach. Really enjoyed our 4 night stay and highly recommend.

A beautiful campsite in an amazing location right by the beach – perfect for lovely walks! The shared facilities are clean and well-equipped. The cabins are newly renovated and modernly furnished, which was a great bonus. I just missed having a toilet next to the outdoor showers. The lady at the reception was very kind and friendly :)
Annie E — Google review
The best campsite we’ve been to so far on our east coast travel. The toilets and showers are clean and the camp kitchen is big which we loved! The sand bar is a great addition - especially the wood fired pizza… yum! Location is perfect, right on the beach. Would definitely come back again :)
Sam W — Google review
We’ve stayed here two years in a row now and would happily keep returning. Excellent location, close to the board walks, food and tourist activities. We requested a specific site which was happily provided. Big, spacious sites to enjoy and set up comfortably. The park was mostly full whilst we were there but you could hardly tell. Tree swings and coconuts galore on the beach. We enjoyed pizza onsite and it was delicious. Highly recommend staying here.
Erin R — Google review
Loved the wood fired pizza's available from the Sandbar and that staff encourage 🔥 on the beach to soak up the atmosphere, campsites are closer to each other than we would have liked given the remoteness of the location, but glad we had a beach powered site as they appeared to be the best. Good amenities and really lovely staff. They sell ice and fire wood at the sandbar too, which is very convenient.
Cassie C — Google review
Big campsite, well stocked with amenities, very close to the beach and several hike paths - In the heart of the national park. It is pretty pricey, but worth it in our opinion. The only downside is the HORRIFIC Club-Music they’re playing in the restaurant in the middle of the campground so everyone can hear. I don’t know whether that’s just the night we stayed here, but that was sooomething… P.S loads of animals roaming the lot, super cool!!

Hidden gem. Unexpectedly amazing food. Had the burger which was awesome and the barra and chips. So delicious that we’ll be back next time. The bar is pretty cool too and the outdoor dining area is the perfect setting for lunch.

Wow! For a place of the grid & self sufficient the food is amazing, what a hidden gem. The steak sandwich was one of the nicest ever & I don’t know what they do with their fries but they have to be the best I’ve had anywhere, especially with their tasty BBQ sauce. Also had an Asian bowl, full of flavour, nice & zesty, was transported back to Asia, so authentic. Went down great with a crisp draught beer. Well done to the couple who run this place!

We’ve visited this restaurant several times over the last four years as we live locally. We knew it’d recently changed owners so we were curious. We weren’t disappointed, had a delicious lunch and the rain forest surrounding is beautiful. The Chef is an experienced lady so she absolutely knows what’s she’s doing. Still our favourite place to eat in the Daintree.

Best place on the Cape for service, food and location. We kinda stumbled across this place after looking at a few other options in the area and glad we did. Their Seafood stir fry was a stand out especially the grilled tuna..yummy!

The best lunch we had on Daintree. The vegetarian curry was good though not as hot and spicy as they warned. My wife and daughter both had Buddha bowls and the Mediterranean was the favorite over the Indian.

Ocean Safari offers an exciting half-day guided snorkeling tour to explore the pristine Great Barrier Reef off the Daintree Coast at Cape Tribulation. The tour includes visits to two different snorkel destinations, Mackay and Undine Reefs, where you can encounter a diverse array of marine life such as sea turtles, giant clams, eagle rays, starfish, and tropical fish.
The best experience you can imagine. Very professional informative and in constant contact. We were absolutely stunned how well organised these guys are. Keeping it cool and safe for everyone while making sure reef is well maintained. In particular great job Chris and Cody. Our 4 yo had a great experience too because of these guys !

We had such an amazing day out on the reef with Brandon and Charley! They really made the day easy and fun for everyone. Charley took such good care of my son as he got used to his snorkel. The snorkeling location was breath taking and we saw a myriad of fish and coral as well as a sea turtle and stingray. Everything was safe, well organised and just fantastic! Would highly recommend for all ages!

Amazing day out on the reef with Brandon and Charlie. They really looked after us, were flexible to different abilities, took loads of photo's and had great knowledge of the reef and how to visit it with minimal impact to the ecosystem. We got the chance to swim with two turtles in their natural environment on the reef and Charlie told us how to do so safely. Getting off the boat and spending an hour on the sand was amazing! A smaller boat was much better for the kids, more fun and exciting. Highly recommend Ocean Safari Tours!

I’m currently on a road trip from Cape Tribulation to Melbourne and had the chance to enjoy three unforgettable snorkeling experiences: here with Ocean Safari, in the Whitsundays with Ocean Rafting, and at Lady Musgrave with Lady Musgrave Experience. All three were exceptional… but the one with Ocean Safari will forever remain the most beautiful day of my life. It was my very first snorkeling trip of this journey, and if I had known it would be the most magical experience of them all, I would have stayed right here in this little paradise and never left. A huge thank you to the team for their warm welcome, energy, and professionalism. And thank you to this magical place for giving me a memory I’ll cherish forever. 🌊🐠💙

My God! What a great trip! We were quite reserved at first, but the trip proved to be the highlight of our Australian adventure. We all loved Josh, our super handsome helsman. The reef is spectacular. This trip allowed us to see variety of sea life and we also spent some time at the little island in the middle of the reef. Loved it!

We loved our trip at cape trib. Everyone was fantastic from those checking us in to Josh and Cody who provided the laughs and fun. They constantly made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable and were great with the younger kids on the boat. Play list was amazing, great vibes, heaps of coral, fish, turtles and so much more. Thanks guys and the rest of the team for such a great experience. We have been lucky enough to do a few outer reef trips and this was by far our fave

Wonderful snorkel tour thanks to the amazing Charly and Brandon. Fun boat ride, loads of time in the water. There aren't many options in Cape Trib, but this one is always a hit. Even throughout the years the quality of the food is top notch. Delicious bagels and other options. And I love that they have a water tap for everyone to use to fill up your own bottle.

Turtle Rock Café, Cape Tribulation – 3 Stars Turtle Rock Café is a cozy little spot perfect for a quick break while exploring Cape Tribulation. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Toilets are clean, although they are clearly outdated and could use a refresh. WiFi is available but comes with an extra charge unless you're an overnight guest — $5 for 1 hour or $10 for 3 hours. Overnight stayers can enjoy it free of charge. The menu offers a good variety of options, including: Bagels like "Gone Fishing" (smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill, rocket, capers, red onions) Paninis such as "Goodness Gracious" (sweet potato and cashew spread, sun-dried tomato, vegan pesto, zucchini, spinach) and "Chook Me Up" (chicken pesto, mozzarella, tomato, red onion, rocket, cream cheese) Smoothies including "Queenslander," "Berrylicious," "Green Boost," and "Go Nuts" Smoothie Bowls like "Jungle Kick," "Get Nutty," and "Glowing Sunshine" Specials like a Papaya Breakfast Bowl and Green Curry with Barramundi A full breakfast and lunch menu with burgers, wraps, and salads. Unfortunately, the biggest letdown for me was the food quality. I ordered the chicken bowl, which consisted of rice, nachos, some salad, dip, and half-cooked chicken. The chicken was really disappointing — it tasted undercooked and not fresh at all. I initially ordered it without coriander because of an allergy, but it was still included. Thankfully, the chef personally apologized and quickly replaced it. The plus is a water station for free! Overall, Turtle Rock Café is an okay stop if you're just after a drink or a smoothie, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a proper meal. I personally wouldn’t come back for the food experience.

Friendly service and great food. I loved my huli huli chicken burger (it tasted good but didnt remind me of Hawaii, which I had visited many times). The fries were super crunchy and very fresh. The grilled fish was cooked just right and bursting with flavour. We also enjoyed the Berry smoothie and the coffee was decent. I had a lot of fun playing with their dog. Clean toilets and lots of parking.

We visited Turtle Rock Café as part of our full-day Daintree Rainforest tour, with lunch arranged in advance by our tour operator. It’s a popular stop for tour groups visiting Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. By the time we arrived, our meals were ready and waiting, which was great after a morning of exploring. We had the vegetarian black bean and rice bowl with chips and salsa — simple, filling. Many in our group ordered different dishes, and everything looked well-prepared. After lunch, we ordered two smoothies from the counter — one made with passionfruit, mango, and coconut water, and the other with spinach and coconut water. Both were fresh-frozen, and perfect for the drive back. The café is casual with plenty of outdoor seating. They also rent gear, and there are public bathrooms right behind the café. It’s a convenient and relaxed spot to stop, refuel, and stretch your legs before heading out. The only small downside was a brief interaction with one staff member at the counter who seemed a bit abrupt when answering a question — possibly just a moment of miscommunication. Everyone else was friendly, and service overall was quick and efficient. All in all, a solid lunch stop in a stunning part of Queensland!

We enjoyed our lunch at the Turtle Rock Cafe and it was a great find tucked away near Cape Trip. The fish tacos were pretty good, along with the brisket tacos, and the portions were filling. The smoothies were also refreshing. We got in at a great time before it got too busy but being right next to where the reef tours come in, can be a little chaotic. Overall, it was a bit pricey but would recommend for a good bite of fresh food

This has been the most amazing breakfast we’ve had in a very long time. The staff were amazing, very flexible and genuinely caring and accommodating for the variety of dietary requirements we have. Ariel and the team, (didn’t get their names but all of them)! You guys rock thanks a million for making this dining amazing. The atmosphere is great!

Restaurant
Beautifully situated in a lush rainforest environment, On The Turps offers excellent service and unique dishes. The menu is small but well-prepared, using quality produce from the local area. If you're looking for an intimate night out in the Daintree area, then this is a great place to visit.
Food is a bit slow to come out, but it tasted decent to me and the portions were large enough to make everyone feel full. Also the garlic bread was one of the best garlic breads I've ever had. It's also in the middle of the rainforest, so has a very nice ambiance. When we were there and the sun went down there were some bugs swarming the lights, but the servers mentioned that's not very common, and the bugs went away again after ~30 minutes

Unfortunately this was one of the worst meals I’ve had during my trip to Australia. The beef burgundy was served lukewarm and tasted only like wine. My partner ordered the fish of the day which was poached salmon on a bed of risotto. The fish was served raw in the middle. When we asked for it to be cooked more, the whole plate was returned very hot, as though they just microwaved it all. For $90, I would have expected the food to be at least good, but we both left frustrated and unsatisfied. I would not recommend eating here
Eric G — Google review
A beautiful restaurant with incredibly friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was a huge disappointment. We chose this restaurant based on the menu it shows online which had 2 vegetarian options we wanted to try. The menu had changed and only had 1 main veggie options which didn’t appeal to us. The tempura veggie dish was very over cooked. The chicken with risotto tasted like rice with cream poured over the top. Understanding the location, I Would have been happy to pay the incredibly high price for the dish if it had been edible. Would be a good idea to update the menu online 👍

We had a good time here as part of our tour with Down Under Tours. We got the Barramundi and the veggie pasta. Both were tasty and ambiance and staff are great! Fish was a little dry but probably due to them having to prep in bulk for the tour groups coming at the same time. Given that this whole area is run on renewables and generators., it is a great service they can provide. Would definitely recommend for the experience and come back!
Andy M — Google review
The servers are great and the environment is good too. Unfortunately the food is a let down, given the price level. Appreciate it is difficult to cater in the rainforest but I think it can be improved. The presentation is good but there is way too much miso on the grilled aubergine. The second lamb shank dish just had boiled vegetables stacked on top with no flavour. The potatoes were not cooked and the meat was tough.

This is a very nice restrauent and the hiking paths down to the river and the river were excellent. We also stopped for lunch which was excellent a well. If you want you can swim in the river!

Stayed at the Heritage Lodge and booked dinner at ‘On the Turps’. One of the best meals I’ve had in years! Ordered Kangaroo with mash and veggies, and cannelloni. Beautifully presented, perfectly cooked! Photos do not do it justice! Breakfast was also delicious and COVID prepared.
Jade W — Google review
Probably one of the worst steaks I’ve ordered, you could tell they covered it in that much “jus” to conceal the fact it was 80% of fat. Definitely not worth $50, my pregnant wife was served chicken breast with mushroom, straight boiled over cooked chicken, with some sort of prison gruel type sauce all over it. Definitely wouldnt recommend.

Day 2

West side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the west side side of town. Start the day off with Cape Trib Beach House, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Thornton’s. All together, your day would be filled with about 6 hours of non-stop fun.

Nestled in Cape Tribulation, the Cape Trib Beach House is a rustic retreat offering a range of accommodations from family-sized cabins to smaller escape cabins. The resort boasts a saltwater pool, open-air dining at Tides Restaurant & Bar, and stunning views of the ocean from its terrace and garden.
Fantastic restaurant, we ate dinner twice at the restaurant and the chef’s created wonderful meals both times (July 2025) Very secluded, at the very northern end of the sealed road from Cape Tribulation. Private access to the beach. FYI there’s practically no mobile reception and no wifi - great to disconnect - Telstra reception back in Cape Trib town.

This review is for the restaurant alone - excellent food, each meal was cooked very well. Plenty of coeliac safe gluten free options. The service was fantastic, it is expensive but it is in the middle of nowhere, so that’s understandable. Recommend.
Em — Google review
We got a flat tire driving towards the resort and Dean saved the day! We couldn’t get these plastic covers off the lug nuts and he drove to where we were on the road multiple times roundtrip to find the correctly fitting wrench so we could put on the spare tire. He deserves a huge raise. Also the resort was awesome and great food/secluded beach
Marcus C — Google review
If only the bed was a great as everything else! Loved the location in the rainforest, direct beach access, great restaurant. Staff was very friendly and flexible. Our room was very neat, big fridge came in handy to store some food and drinks. But the mattress was one of the worst ever I ever slept on. Very springy yet rock hard.
Robbert S — Google review
Great location but rooms let it down. Needed some tlc and no cleaning service whatsoever. They are still using Covid as an excuse for no cooking facilities…. Nothing in the rooms apart from a kettle. They need to either provide a snack service at the restaurant/ as opening times are limited or provide the option for guests to cook their own food in a dedicated area or in rooms. Location is great and beach id amazing too
Deborah W — Google review
Off the beaten path charming accommodation. Located in the rainforest and very basic. There is onsite laundry and no cellular service. Great place to disconnect and enjoy the scenery. The restaurant was nice for drinks and dinner. The beach access was a very lovely touch. You could walk to Kulki Lookout, takes about an hour. Overall a very nice stay.
S G — Google review
The room felt a little like a jail cell. Black and white walls, no pictures. The bathroom was disgusting with mould everywhere. The floor did not feel safe. It was spongy in spots like you could fall through it. The power points were loose on the walls. The sink was slanting down like it might fall off the wall and the toilet was wobbling at the base. Had dinner. 2 Barra's chips and salad. Barra was very small for the price and had chunks of charcoal stuck to it and thats all you could taste. Chips tasted funky, like old oil. The only thing that was great was the location scenery and the staff were friendly.
Susan G — Google review
Rooms were basic, but very clean. Most importantly: the were creepy crawler free. 🪳The restaurant on site served very tasty dishes, despite being in the middle of the rainforest.

Treetops Adventure Cape Tribulation

Treetops Adventure Cape Tribulation offers an exhilarating ziplining experience, taking you up to 15m above the ground. You can also enjoy a leisurely stroll on a scenic boardwalk and take a river cruise to spot the famous estuarine crocodiles of Cape Tribulation. Visitors have praised the knowledgeable and friendly tour guides who provide insights into the rainforest ecosystem and its inhabitants.
Fantastic highlight of my Cape Tribulation trip! This has been on my bucket list for years and so happy I got to do it. The crew were super friendly, professional and very reassuring. The scenery is spectacular and the level of safety is world class. Had a fantastic, thrilling time.
Michael — Google review
reetops Adventure, Cape Tribulation. Right, so, I'm not gonna lie, the start was a bit... dodgy. Like, "are these ropes actually gonna hold me?" dodgy. I was picturing myself becoming a human piñata for the local wildlife. But then, we hit the first zipline, and suddenly, I was Tarzan, but with slightly more screaming. Our guide? Forget about it. This bloke was basically a walking encyclopedia of rainforest trivia. He knew more about trees than a squirrel knows about nuts. We're talking history lessons, botany lectures, and zipline safety tips, all rolled into one. He was basically the Indiana Jones of foliage, but with a harness and a helmet. And the ziplines? Easy peasy after the first one. By the end, I was practically swinging through the trees like a pro. Or at least, I thought I was. The other tourists looked slightly less terrified, so I'm taking that as a win. Look, if you want to experience the Daintree from a bird's-eye view, and learn more about trees than you ever thought possible, this is your place. Just try to ignore the "what if" scenarios during the initial safety briefing.
Krish — Google review
I am a bit torn with how to rate this activity. We have been spoiled by other ziplining adventures and our expectations were high that this would be as great as our other experiences. If you are imagining zooming through the Daintree, you will be disappointed. There is so much potential for this to be great - it just doesn't meet that potential. Pros: The location. Simply stunning. Cons: The activity time itself is not long enough. The ziplines were also all very short. The longest zipline is the last - the race, and even that is really short. Our group was small and the time spent waiting on platforms was greater than the time spent walking on the bridges and ziplining. I would have hated to be in a full group - the platforms are very small.
Kaz B — Google review
Not What We Expected – Very Different from Other Tree Climb Courses This course turned out to be more of a guided zipline tour than a traditional tree climb or adventure course. It starts with the group (around 10 people) all having to wait on each platform until everyone has arrived. The guide then pauses to give information about the rainforest, which is interesting but slows down the momentum. Only after completing the first half are you then allowed to continue at your own pace. Even then, the individual ziplines are quite short, so the experience feels limited compared to other, more active tree climb or aerial adventure courses. If you're looking for a more hands-on or physically engaging course, this might not be the best fit. All in all though a great tourist experience to view the rainforest with a wonderful informative guide.
Laura — Google review
Treetops adventure was so much fun. Our guide gave so much information about the Rainforest past and future. I pushed past my comfort zones with gentle guidance and encouragement from staff and our group. Highly recommend visiting! Cape Tribulation was amazing. The local shops had delicious food. And very informative staff. Told us a few places that were worth a look in this season.

I came here a year ago with hubby and just had to come back with my son. Very fun and educational, and a great way to experience the world heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. Staff are very friendly, supportive, and informative.
Stacie W — Google review
We did the Treetops Adventure at Cape Tribulation and had a great guide who was friendly, informative, and still kept things fun. She shared interesting details about the rainforest and the views, which made the experience even better. The zip lining itself was enjoyable, but felt a bit short, especially considering the cost — $290 in total for 2 adults, plus a $51 ferry fare that we didn’t realise we’d need to pay. Overall, it was a fun experience, but definitely on the pricey side.
Matthew F — Google review
The whole experience was amazing. From the welcome when we turned up, to the very last goodbye. So very very well done. Lydia ( ? I knew I would forget her name 🤦‍♀️) and Ted were awesome. So so friendly. And knowledgeable! My son and I definitely agree that this was a highlight of our trip so far!

Nestled in the heart of Cape Tribulation, Safari Lodge and Campground offers a unique rainforest experience with its safari huts and campsites. Wake up to the natural sounds of the ancient rainforest, which is even older than the Amazon. The lodge provides various accommodation options including cabins and powered campsites suitable for caravans and motorhomes. Guests can relax by the swimming pool or dine at Turtle Rock Cafe on-site.
I had a fabulous experience here at the lodge. I stayed in a campsite. The place has a common area with kitchen camp, beautiful pool, spotless toilets and showers, a pool table and lots of amenities. The view around the campsite is amazing, feeling the true rainforest vibes There’s a groceries store just across the road and there’s a cafe at the front. Highly recommended
Frandeben — Google review
Great location. Rooms are small, but were clean and had a very comfortable bed. The pool and facilities were very good. Washing machine and dryer, fully equipped shared kitchen facilities and entertainment area were all in great condition. 👍

We stayed at the unpowered campsite. Very clean amenities. Bit more expensive than other but better services. Nice but small pool with a shared kitchen area next to it. Excellent location opposite bar/restaurant and near activities.

Loved the board walk and surrounding rainforest. The pool was great and relaxing vibes all around. We went on a trip to the reef and the staff, Brandon and Charlie, were great. The perfect level of fun and attentiveness. My son said that it was the best birthday present ever.

Perfectly situated cosy accommodation. We stayed in an ensuite cabin which was nicely appointed with a king bed, small bar fridge, air-conditioning and bathroom. Nice and private. Only minor complaint would be water pressure wasn't the best. Found myself using the showers in the amenities block. Camp kitchen is well great with a large fridge, 2 BBQs, microwave, Toaster and a few pots and pans. Location is great being across the road from the general store, pub, playground and beach access. Staff are all super friendly and helpful. Massive shout out to Stacey who is an absolute gem.
Craig F — Google review
Safari Lodge and Campground was one of the most enjoyable campgrounds on our trip! Nestled in a rainforest paradise, it feels like you're tucked away in a tropical resort. The standout feature is easily the incredible camp kitchen by the pool — it’s spacious, modern, and genuinely feels like a resort lounge. There are heaps of tables, which is lucky because the space is well-used by happy campers and travelers alike. There's even a pool table to keep things social and fun. The amenities are clean and clearly well-maintained, making it a very comfortable place to stay. On top of that, the reception has its own little café which serves up great coffee and breakfast – a perfect way to start your day before heading out to explore the Daintree. As a base for exploring all the region has to offer, it’s hard to beat. Would absolutely recommend and would love to return!
Michael S — Google review
An excellent campsite. Location is perfect, a short walk from the beach, with great amenities. The cafe was a hit for breakfast, and you’re only a short walk from cassowary for dinner if you don’t feel like cooking.
Emma — Google review
I stayed in one of the en suite cabins in the campsite. It was very comfortable and very well laid out with a good sized bathroom. It had air-con and a ceiling fan and fridge. The shower was great and the bed comfy. Great to hear all the noises from the forest. Staff were super friendly and efficient. You can make your own meals at the communal kitchens or there is a great café at the entrance. Parking just outside the cabin. A really great experience.

This fully wheelchair-accessible boardwalk takes visitors through fan palms, vine forests, and mangroves before revealing stunning views of the Coral Sea at Myall Beach. Nice and pretty quick walk you can do with kids or if you are in any harsh walking injury. Beautiful nature, all infrastructure is set up for you - toilets there, walking paths, parking lot. Just come and enjoy 😉

Slow down and take your time. If you don’t rush through the walk you are more likely to see butterflies, insects, and other animals if you’re lucky! Super easy walk, around 1.2 km.

*** This walk is not closed as it says on google. Only a very small section is roped off *** Lovely walk. Slow down and see what you can find! So many beautiful plants, trees, animals and insects. Plenty to see if you are quiet!

Part of the boardwalk is being renovated, but it is open. A lovely rainforest walk on elevated boardwalk that leads you down to the beach. An easy walk and definitely worth exploring.
Kaz B — Google review
Nice walk in the rainforest! It's actually quite large, and is lifted since the ground is all mud. Also ends at a beach so you can get a nice beach view (although there are crocodile in the water so you can't really swim there)
Jason K — Google review
Lovely 2km boardwalk through the beautiful rainforest out to Myall Beach. Absolutely recommend, you can see and learn a lot about fauna and wildlife as well. Stunning trees! Myall Beach is amazing as well, recommend a walk along the beach. Watch out for crocs. Clearly free, decent sized car park that features toilets and water, easily accessible.

Beautiful walk through a well maintained boardwalk out to Myall Beach. The direct walk from Myall Beach via the picnic ground is very water logged from all the heavy rain. Decent sized car park and easily accessible.

Excellent place. Looks so untouched. The beach is so differnet from any other beach of australia. The small island makes the view so scenic. The walk is very simple as the pathway is made clear and straight forward. This is best spot of daintree forest.

Really enjoyed the Madja Boardwalk which is a very easy flat walk though the mangroves and rainforest which takes around 30-45 mins. Very well maintained with majority of the walk been on a boardwalk, so any shoes will do.

This is a beautiful boardwalk amongst the mangroves and rainforest. Designed to be user friendly, for young, old, sick, lame or lazy, the trail offers the visitor an insight into the life of the forest and mangrove area. There are useful information boards along the way and places to rest if required. It took about 30 minutes to complete - time well spent.

We arrived for lunch in the middle of rush hour - but there were no problems at all! Staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was busy yet patrons were relaxed, and the food was delivered super promptly. I chose the lunch special - fisherman's soup, which was absolutely delicious: mussels, clams, cuttlefish, prawns and reef fish, poached with tomato, onion, garlic and fennel, served with parsley and sourdough! I would highly recommend this place for a bite to eat and a beautiful view of Thornton's Beach...

Had the Saturday night fish and chips special. So good went back the next day - eggplant sandwich - great. Go soon - once the crocodiles find out how good it is you'll never get in!

Such a great spot! Saturday night fish and chips - only dish on the menu and done great. Homemade tartare was spot on. Beautiful place to eat it all, right on the beach, and awesome gin and tonics! Seems everyone turns up for their weekly fix. They were pinned, but still friendly and quick service. Some people seemed surprised there was ONLY fish and chips, so just be prepared for that and you won’t be disappointed.
