The mall is well-maintained and the staff are always helpful. There are several North American franchised food chains in the mall, but it's not clear which other stores are there. The ATM is confusing to exit and there are too many corridors. However, security is very helpful.

It meets the expectations of someone looking for stores from big chains to local stores all in one place. The access to the parking lot seemed a bit confusing for us when we entered with a lot of go this and that way, but once inside, you manage to find a spot. It doesn’t deserve five stars because during busy hours the food court doesn’t handle well the crowds of people resulting in lines and delays.
They have most things you need in one place. Not the cheapest place for sure. But safe and easy.

I've made a brief visit to Shopping da Ilha, in São Luís. I can't really say how good the shopping centre is but I could find everything I was looking for. Service will depend on who you talk to but I was lucky and found some patient and very helpful people to assist me.
Probably the best shopping on Sao Luis. The stores are greay but a bit on the expensive side... There is ay even have a medical center there, where you can do a full checkup for a great price...

The area offers a spectacular viewpoint with a refreshing sea breeze and panoramic views of the beach and surrounding apartment buildings, reminiscent of Miami.
I dont have see another sunset in Sao Luis so beatiful than in this place. Very windy place so be prepare, the place got a very good vision and the pictures and videos are almost obligatory. ;)

A spectacular viewpoint in São Luis. Although it gets awfully hot, a walk by the water will help cool you down given the gentle breeze rolling in. Once you get to the tip of the boardwalk, one can see the beach and the multiple apartment buildings in the back drop. It is reminiscent of Miami in a way. A must do if in the area.
This is just an artificial pier to reduce the speed of the sedimentation in the area. You can walk until the end to have a nice landscape of the bay and the beach side. Just nearby you will find a old fort that is possible to visit.

We ended up paying 2 times as much for the beers, because there was a guy doing exactly the same thing a playlist does. Couvert price: 2 euros per. person without writing it anywhere visible.

Had a great time at this water park and it definitely help us beat the heat. There are plenty of fun rides and activities for guests of every age. There's also plenty of food and drink options and the park is colorful and clean. Those beef pastelsl were little pockets of goodness!!!!! Parking and the admission process were simple. There were lockers and showers on-site. Admission was on the pricier side. Would recommend becoming a member if you and guest are going to attend frequently throughout the year.
We found the waterpark very small, it has 2 big slides both for figure 8s. They have a small weight limit on the big slides which me and my boyfriend were above so we couldn't go down together and we were too light to go alone so have to mix with strangers. Our joint weight was 160kg which I don't think is unusual or particularly high. Other than the two slides, there were some smaller kid friendly slides, a wave pool and some smaller pools suitable for kids. We spent 2 hours there and didn't have anything else to do so left.

Totally disappointing! We ordered the lobster, oyster, shrimp, fish and squid platter served with a side of rice. The lobster was "hammered". It was tough, chewy, flavorless and inedible. The oysters were not remotely fresh and were inedible. These tasted so bad I literally had to remove one from my mouth.The shrimp were mealy, old and mushy but had decent flavor. The fish was over cooked but tasted okay. The star of the meal was the rice and the house pilsner was very good. In addition, the complimentary chocolate dessert was pretty tasty. the wait staff were attentive as always and I always love the warm decor of the restaurant. The poor quality and cooking of the seafood was astonishing. I would not recommend eating here until the quality of the food is improved.

The side-dish, rice, was tasty, but rather oily (guess that is the local taste). For fresher seafood, I preferred local “Cabana do Sol”.

Palácio dos Leões, also known as The Palace of Lions, is a stunning white building that serves as the headquarters for local government. Its construction dates back to 1626 and it is located at the heart of Maranhao. This architectural gem was built by the French in the late 19th century and is listed on the World Heritage List. Inside, visitors can explore a vast collection of ceramics, paintings, and other artifacts.

This is also the place where the governor of Sao Luis stays. Ofcourse the tourists are allowed to visit the museum part only. I was shocked to have a guided tour in English. And it was a good one. Lots of interesting pictures at the place.
The “Palace of the Lions” is the Governor’s mansion in the Brazilian state of Maranhão. The location has been the home of this state’s governors since the French ruled in this area back in 1612. The current building was constructed around 1766 & has been reformed several times since then.
It’s located in the historic town center, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Parts of the building are open to tourists and they have guided tours. You have to wear booties not to damage the floors & carpets. The guides are pretty knowledgeable and the tour doesn’t take that long, so if you’re in the area, I’d definitely recommend it.

As an English speaking tourist that doesn’t speak Portuguese, it was really nice to have a free tour that explains about the palace but also a little bit about São Luis.
Also, I want to pass my thanks to the intern guy who gave the tour. I believe he was the only one who could speak English, we enjoyed his tour and hopefully the Palace can hire him as an employee. I forgot to ask for his name but our conversation was fun and I learned that he likes Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and Mariah Carey if that would help to identity him. Brigado!
The official Maranhão state Governor house, where he also works. Originally it was a French Fortress named Saint Louis Fort, where the name of the city started. The museum located inside the building was closed for renovations.
Free guided visit takes around 30 min. Nice place to fetch water and use a very clean restroom. Do not miss it in your visit to the old town.
Beautiful place to see the sunset. Great scenary to take pictures o to take a coffee with someone that you love.

Very close to the hotel Luzeiros, let's say a 8 to 9 min drive... Very nice church, the structure is still in good shape for the old age... We visited here in december 2012, the weather was very tropical, variation between 24 and 28 Celsius max... The people in Sao Luis are very friendly...It is always better and safer to go out of the hotel with at least two people....

Definitely avoid, family waited an hour, after ordered, for food we had to send back to have them finish cooking it. Blaring loud music in a small place, really destroyed what was left of the meal. Don't waste your time and money, plenty of other options on the street.
I came here for lunch with friends and family on a Tuesday, therefore waiting times were not an issue. The food was prepared relatively quick and our server kept refilling our beer.
They make an artisanal beer that is worth trying. The moqueca was great, I recommend ordering this dish. The lobster and shrimp were overcooked.
