Not far from city for walking and don’t need to pay entrance fee. But you need to walk on the main road that hv the ton of dusk when car passing. The waterfall is beautiful in falls season but it’s just small waterfall

The trail is easy to walk for anyone, including children. Theres not much elevation and still if you want to make it easier you can always walk through the route instead of the walking trail. Great for a nice and short walk if you have some spare time in El Chalten.

This is one of the free walks/hikes in El Chaltén and an absolute must-do. The trail is very flat, making it an easy and enjoyable walk, and it only takes about an hour to reach the destination. The scenery along the way is quite picturesque, adding to the charm. There’s a car park available at the site, and toilets are provided, but be prepared—bring your own toilet paper and hand sanitizer, as the facilities were in poor condition when we visited. One of the best parts is that there’s no park fee, so it’s a great option for anyone exploring El Chaltén on a budget. Highly recommended!

very pretty waterfall and the hike isn’t too far off of the main road. you can park in the main carpark for a short walk, or you can do it as part of a 1.5km hike :)

The waterfall is not very big and amazing, but if you have about 2 hours and don't know how to spend it - have a walk to it. Compared to other points of interest, the road is flat and takes 30-40 min to get there from the end of the city or just 5 min from the parking near the waterfall. The water is clear and you can drink it, as well as there're a lot of calafate berries nearby.

Beautiful waterfall! Pretty full of people midday but worth it for the view! To avoid paying to get into the park, you walk up the road instead which I imagine isn’t as pretty of a walk as the trail

Our favorite cafe in El Chaltén! The Paisa Arepa and Serrano Bruschetta are great, and they also have a nice orange poppyseed cake.

Coffee was so good and you can see Fitzroy from outside seats. (Don’t expect too much though) While I was enjoying my coffee outside, wind blew and my wife’s hot chocolate was spilt but they refilled kindly. I recommend this place.

Great coffee and light breakfast in El Calafate. I was missing my daily cold brew after a week in Argentina. But, was pleasantly they had cold brew here. We also liked the hot chocolate and arepas, went back twice in as many days

In my opinion, the best coffee in town. I normally order a flat white, but we decided to try their Americano. A lot of places add either too much or too little water, but Paisa has it spot on – it’s one of the nicest cups of coffee I’ve ever had. We went back a second time and will probably visit another two or three times before we leave. Great place!

Really nice vibe with a warm decor. I went a couple of times, with a starter main dessert and drink 😄 They do a really nice warm loaf of bread with the starter too. Their suggested meat dish main is massive, I want to say something like 18oz or maybe a bit bigger. Really lovely desserts and the presentation of all the food is fantastic. At the end is a free shot of a fruity alcoholic thing I can’t remember the name of 😂 The staff are really cool and friendly too. The only con I would say is there aren’t many non alcoholic drink options but if you love wine then you’re in the perfect place.

Ordered bife de chorizo and had a blast. The meat was so big, we ate all the sides and asked them to cook again. After dinner, they offered for us to try their liquor, and it was amazing.

Very nicely decorated place and kind and friendly staff but never go for the fish dish. The fish was so smelly that made it almost impossible to eat.

Yes, the trout dish. Definitely. The steak not so much. But beware of the little bones though. Complimentary alcohol at the end. Beautifully decorated rustic place.

After an amazing first meal and service we went back a few nights later. The waiters remembered us, and even remembered the wine we liked and drank. We had another great meal, with excellent service, and they even made us a custom dessert. Gracias!

Highly recommend this place, where we had dinner. Delicious food and wine, cosy wooden building and fun decoration with car number plates from all over the world. We had a wonderful waitress, Rocia, who made the whole evening a joy and even taught us some Spanish words.

Quite easy but windy hike, this review goes mostly to the National Park organizers that charge 45 thousand pesos for small trails and they dont invest money!!! look at the toilets in the picture please 🤢🤢🤢

Super beautiful landscape a must in el Chalten we did sounds with instruments and 3 condors were above our heads, it’s a short walk and in 25 minutes you are there, magnificent view

Very nice viewpoint; one of the not quite many easily accessible ones from which Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre can be seen together. Somewhat steeper but very passable trail; nice place for sunrises and sunsets (quieter at these times too).

Here we go, the first day of our 3-day Patagonian trekking adventure, in El Chalten to see the glorious Fitz Roy snowy peak. The hike up was kinda steep but the trekking pole helped. Just make sure you adjust your pole correctly to your height. And an important tip: plant your pole close or beside you— not outward not diagonally. The tour ended in the shallow basin of a picturesque waterfall where you can wade barefoot in the slightly freezing water. If I had known ahead of time I would’ve brought my aqua shoes and a bimpo towel but that didn’t stop me from taking a refreshing feet plunge.

Great spot to watch the sunset - very easy hike that can be done in 20 minutes to the top, all uphill but not strenuous. Great views over the town and to the mountains in the west as well as rainbow mountain to the east. Lovely end to a light day of hiking before full day treks. Well signposted and great views had of condors.

El Chalten is an area of breathtaking scenary, the mountains rise up vertically making for amazing photos. There are numerous day hikes that you can do from any one of the many trails in and around the town to experience this wilderness. The town itself is merely to support tourists and climbers. During winter it was really quite with most places closed. The experience is not about the town but rather the countryside around it, just amazingly beautiful.

Really cool walk, very easy to do. We arrived in El Chalten around mid-afternoon and wanted to tick off somewhere to see. The map said it would take around an hour but it was much quicker than that, around 40mins at a good pace. Nice views of the town! The wind can be quite strong at times so be careful.

One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to! The walk is nice and nature awesome! The last km is a bit hard 😱 but reaching the lake and watching just in front of the Fitz Roy (El Chalten) is awesome! Worthy! Great! I’ve been day on a Christmas Day! What a gift!

If you’re not fit, you’ll struggle. I did it while suffering from plantar fasciitis and it was a terrible idea. Took a cab (40,000 pesos 🤦🏻‍♀️) to Rio Electrico as it’s supposed to save you some walking. Don’t fall for it. I walked 31km in total which is more than what most people do following the usual trail and spent all that money for the cab. But if you insist on starting at Rio Electrico, then wait at the car park at the bottom of the trail and hitch a ride. While the view is pretty like any mountain and laguna is bound to be, if you’re a world traveler, you’ll have seen some more beautiful ones. Do it as a personal achievement if you’d like to say you’ve conquered Fitz Roy. Walking poles and a face mask will come in handy as you’ll breathe in a lot of dirt. The winds are high even in good weather. But if it’s for the view or a photo, save yourself the struggle. You can access beautiful views at a much lower altitude (Laguna Capri is one). Just my personal opinion.

The trek from El Chalten to Fitz Roy was not easy at first. However, the clear waters of Lake Capri, the flawless blue sky, and the majestic peaks that we encountered after struggling to climb gave us an indescribable sense of emotion.

Long hike up to 24-25km return, with awesome view. Definitely a challenging hike up at the last stretch, with strong cold wind with snows at times.

This mountain in Patagonia and near to Chaltén village is a majestic peak surrounded by natural beauty areas.

The magic must seat mountain outside of El Chaten! The first stop on a multi day hiking & backpacking expedition with Photopills, we hiked to viewpoints just below the peak and then around to the backside and Cerro Torre. Amazing area

Fitz Roy -- A tale of granite mountain in Patagonia shaped by nature and time . I would recommend starting early in the morning to spend more time and enjoy the view .. Start before 7 am (personal suggestion). Entry fees is 45000 pesos ,if you start after 8-9 am . The first 2 kilometers of the trek and the last 1.5 kilometers is hard . Bring enough food (since the trek takes around 7-10 hrs ), i wont suggest carrying more water , after 7-8 km you have the glacier flow water to drink . If you want hiking poles you can rent them in the shops . Dont forget to cover both the lakes -- Laguna Madre (mother) and Laguna Hija (daughter)

Corn soup was nice but we did not enjoy the croquetas. The locro was very good. Unfortunately the pork shoulder even though it had been braised it was quite dry.

Friendly staff, but understaffed. Slow service. Empanadas were delicious. Pork with red wine and honey reduction was only okay, fried potatoes undersalted. Excellent banana, apple, blueberry smoothie. Stuffed squash was definitely the star of the dinner. Decent selection of beers, a couple wines. Small interior.

Really good service and food. We had a local Argentina stew and squid ink ravioli stuffed with Salmon. The latter was exceptional! I was truly surprised considering the humble decor of the restaurant.

Wine price/quality is ok but food isn't that great. seems it's been cooked while ago. Not something you expect from the restaurant. Tried both lamb and pork 3 of 5 could be much better in Argentina.

It was the best dinner ever in South America. Food, Service, Mood.. everything was perfect! I ate Amazing beef steak, tasty homemade pasta and fresh prawn salad. I want to visit here again to eat other menu:-)

Had the misfortune of choosing this restaurant for our Christmas Eve dinner. They are understaffed and didn't fulfill the menu. Lamb wasn't seasoned, no salad, no choice for dessert. I would not recommend this restaurant. Also it was over priced for what we got. Feel ripped off

We had the lamb and stew and both were pretty amazing after a long day. One thing I couldn't quite understand was that the staff were content to say the restaurant with full without encouraging people to queue. Just ask how long the wait is you'll be settled.

I had an amazing dinner at The Estepa Restaurant Bar last night! It was a great place for spending time with friends after long day hiking or activities. The server was attentive and made great recommendations from the menu. While the wait time was a little longer than expected, but the staff kept us informed, and offered more tasty pans and toasts for us. Surprisingly, not only the food quality was great, but also the services were friendly and generously! From the overall experience. I’ll definitely tell everyone coming to El Chalton and highly recommend it. A great experience!

We can’t say enough good things about our experience at Estapas in El Chaltén. Despite it being almost 11 PM, the Christian greeted us with a warm smile and went out of their way to ensure we were served with exceptional care. The customer service was truly remarkable—kind, attentive, and heartfelt. As for the food, it was absolutely outstanding. The salmon was cooked to perfection with flavors that delighted our taste buds, and the ribeye was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. Each dish reflected the passion and skill of the team. Estapas is a true gem, combining top-notch food, exceptional hospitality, and a welcoming atmosphere. It’s a must-visit for anyone in El Chaltén. Highly recommend!

After a long day of hiking we were treated to some lovely Argentinian meals, they were even able to tailor a dish to make it vegan. Great service, highly recommend!

Wonderful food! The lentil stew especially hit the spot! The baked cheese dish was delicious as well. We had a group of 10 and they were very accommodating. Great place!

We just went for drinks during happy hour. Nice place and good service. We were inside but the outside area looked tempting, just needed a less windy day, haha good luck with that. Good beer selection, but only taps: rubia and IPA included for happy hour. We loved the music here and stayed for a few.

Guanaco empanadas roasted in a brick oven, ribeye steaks grilled to perfection, the best chimichuri in town, and a delicious wine selection.

The staff are lovely but the food is disappointing for the price. We ordered the steak which was tough (the cauliflower purée was delicious though). The lamb stew was decent but sadly the fish was inedible, almost off and the pasta was so chewy. It has the potential to be great but does too many dishes and it’s a shame.

Great and good priced place in the center of El Chaltén. Several vegetarian options on the menu, the carrot and aubergine pizza was really good. And huge! One pizza is good for many, or as lunch the following day. Good value for money. Love music in the evening!

We tried the tortilla, pizza and lamb sandwich. I must say that they didn't taste good and it took time for the food to arrive. However, it was pretty cheap, the music and vibe were good and the waiter was very nice.

Never had a burger with such bad meat. Full of strings, bone pieces, etc. GF ordered salad and got a bowl of raw shredded cabbage and carrots.

Nice bar to enjoy a beer with several options for food and beverage. Their two draft beers (American Pale Ale & Dark IPA) are tasty and can be found in Happy Hour in the evening.

Great beer, be aware of staff not being clear on happy hour charges. Check prices with staff before ordering. Free WiFi!

We arrived early and we're seating with no one at adjoining tables. When the food arrived, so did about a dozen flies. Mentioned it to our waiter and he covered our steaks with a napkin to keep them off. They were still buzzing around. Definitely detracted from the ambiance...don't.expect flies at a high quality restaurant. Once we had eaten most of our meal, and the restaurant filled, the flies disappeared, likely to visit other patrons. We had beef tenderloin for two. The sizes and cooks varied on the 4 pieces. We ordered medium rare, but a thick piece was rare. The tenderloin was a little on the tough side, not almost melt in your tender. The service was friendly. The casual ambiance was a plus. As an example, the wine list was a visit to their wine cabinet with prices displayed and pick your own bottle.

Warm and cozy restaurant that is a little on the pricey side but delicious. We got the mashed pumpkin with honey which was rather sweet but cravable. The beets with goat cheese were cooked perfectly, slightly firm with the skin left on for a little texture. Pumpkin ravioli with a creamy cheese sauce held a great balance between sweet and savory. We got two ribeyes one asked to be cooked medium and the other medium rare. The medium rare steak was rather rare for me so, I asked them to throw it back on the grill for me and it was still juicy. The server recommended a bottle of wine for us that wasn't expensive and paired perfectly with our meal. fantastic service! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Great food and atmosphere. Service was very attentive. The portions were indeed huge and we were stuffed despite only ordering 2 dishes (lamb and provolone). Very generous with the house wine which was pretty good too! Excellent place to dine at after a long day of hiking.

Went here twice when I was in El Chalten a week ago. The food is excellent and the steaks are well cooked. The beef is highly recommended and you do get a taste of it being grilled. The house wine is well suited for the flavour profile of the steaks. Treat yourself after a busy day hiking! It's well worth it

The lamb here was awesome! Great sides as well, we got the lamb for 2 and 3 sides and that was more than enough for 3 people. There was also live music from a local group, which was nice!

Friendly and quick service. Everything on the menu is excellent. We had the famous lamb à la parilla with a little chimichurri on the side. We don’t normally eat red meat, but everybody said it was so good and we were not deceived! Definitely a must try when in El Chalten.

The lamb here became the best one in my life. The taste, hardness, everything perfect.
