IMMANUEL H — Google review
Mlimani City is the best and most convenient shopping mall in Dar es Salaam. It has everything you need in one place — supermarkets, clothing stores, electronics shops, restaurants, banks, and even a cinema. The layout is spacious, clean, and easy to navigate, making shopping comfortable even on weekends. The mall is air-conditioned and well-maintained, with good security and plenty of parking space. The staff at most shops are polite and helpful, and prices are reasonable for the city. The food court offers a nice variety of local and international options — perfect for a quick meal or coffee break. It’s also a great place for families, with areas for kids and a safe environment. Whether you need groceries, a new phone, or just a relaxing afternoon, Mlimani City is always a reliable choice. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors who want a modern shopping experience in Dar es Salaam!
黄芊 — Google review
Visiting Mlimani City Shopping Mall was an experience that blended modern convenience with a touch of Tanzanian vibrance. Located along Sam Nujoma Road in the bustling city of Dar es Salaam, the mall stood out with its spacious layout and clean, well-maintained environment. As I entered, I was immediately greeted by the cool air conditioning — a welcome contrast from the city’s tropical heat. The mall was buzzing with life: families shopping, students grabbing snacks, and professionals moving between shops. Shops and Variety One of the things I appreciated the most was the variety of stores. From well-known clothing brands like Mr. Price and LC Waikiki to electronics shops selling phones, laptops, and accessories, there was a bit of everything. I took my time exploring some local boutiques too, which offered unique Tanzanian fashion pieces that you wouldn’t find in typical malls abroad. There was also a Shoprite supermarket, which was incredibly convenient. It had a wide selection of groceries — both local and imported — and the prices were fair. Food Court & Restaurants After walking around, I stopped by the food court. It had multiple options: pizza, chicken, local dishes, burgers — you name it. I tried some nyama choma with chips, served fresh and flavorful. While eating, I noticed how relaxed the vibe was — people laughing, kids playing, and background music playing softly. Entertainment & Services For entertainment, there’s a cinema inside the mall which shows both local and international films. I didn’t get the chance to watch a movie, but the posters looked promising. I also passed by a few bank branches and ATMs, which was convenient for anyone needing quick financial services. There’s also a salon and a phone repair shop — a good example of how the mall caters to everyday needs. Cleanliness & Security The mall was clean and secure. Security guards were present at every entrance, and there were clear signs directing people where to go. The restrooms were well-maintained, which I always consider a sign of a well-managed public place. Parking and Accessibility Mlimani City has a huge parking area, and it’s easy to access via both private cars and public transport. There’s always a flow of daladalas and boda bodas outside the gate, making it very accessible. My visit to Mlimani City Shopping Mall was enjoyable. It’s not just a shopping destination — it’s a social hub where people meet, eat, shop, and relax. Whether you’re a tourist, a student, or a local resident, there’s something for everyone. It’s definitely one of Dar es Salaam’s modern gems.
Ismail O — Google review
I had a nice experience visiting Milimani City Mall and would rate it 4 stars overall. The mall is neat, clean, and well-maintained, giving a fresh and comfortable atmosphere for shoppers. One of the major advantages is the plenty of parking space available, which makes it very convenient for visitors and reduces the hassle of finding a spot, especially on busy days. The design of the mall feels luxury and spacious, which makes walking around pleasant and comfortable. Being the largest mall in Dar es Salaam, it has a lot to offer. Mr. Discount Supermarket inside the mall was particularly impressive with good product variety and reasonable choices. However, I did feel that the mall is relatively small in terms of floor space compared to other large malls globally. Adding more floors and expanding options would definitely make the shopping experience more attractive. At some stalls, the prices of products seemed quite expensive, which might not be suitable for everyone. Overall, the mall is already a great place but still has scope for improvement in terms of variety and affordability. It remains one of the best shopping destinations in the city, and I look forward to visiting again.

Mlimani City Shopping Mall is a vibrant place with great shops, restaurants, and entertainment. I really enjoyed my visit, but I truly hope they improve the washrooms and hygiene. A clean and well maintained restroom is very important for visitors. It would make the mall experience even better. Everything else, from the food court to the cinema, is wonderful. With better hygiene facilities, the mall would be nearly perfect for everyone.

The market is renowned for its exquisite wood carvings, masks, sculptures, furniture, Maasai jewelry, paintings, and traditional textiles that showcase the rich Tanzanian culture. This is a great little square full of Wood carvers, Artists, oils and Acrylic, plus clothing and many other souvenir items. If you look you will find something you like for sure, I got a great painting and 2 hard wood wall decorations.

This is an open African art and craft market that offers a good variety of souvenirs for tourists. Their products range from hand-made sandals, clothing, bags, beads, wood carvings, hats and many more. The vendors are very friendly, and most of them speak English. Bargaining for prices is a must.

Nice place, first prices extremely high, to be bargained by few times. I do recommend to visit at least. Many people, quite crowded, prices very high for white people which is very discriminating. Generally speaking.. I do recommend the place to buy some hand craft.

About a hundred small shops with lots of wood carved souvenirs and home decor. You can also find fridge magnets and clothes. Be wise to check price in a few of them as many carry the same items and you could get a deal. Overall good prices and friendly shop staff. It is recommended you bring a guide along to help you translate and negotiate.

Located about 10 kilometers north of the city center, Makumbusho/ Village Museum in Mikocheni showcases traditional dwellings from Tanzania's 120 ethnic groups. Spread across 15 acres, visitors can explore replicas of tribal homesteads and observe local artists demonstrating traditional carving, painting, and weaving skills. The museum also hosts Ngoma and tribal dances as well as other cultural activities.
It was a very educational tour. We had a guide who took us around and guided us through the different traditions and houses built back then in Tanzanian villages. The tour ends with a performance from a dance group. It was well worth the visit.
Rose M — Google review
I didn’t expect the museum to be in such good condition. The building looks as if it was constructed just a month ago, and the paths around the village are well maintained. However, the informational boards all need to be renewed, and the ticket counter definitely needs a printer. I was surprised they're still trying to charge the entrance fee in USD.
Oliver H — Google review
It’s a unique museum that introduces visitors to Tanzanian tribes and their way of life. You can see different types of traditional tribal houses, and with the help of a local guide, you can learn more detailed information about them. However, one thing to be aware of is that people often expect payment for almost everything, which is a common experience in Africa.

--- Visiting Kijiji cha MAKUMBUSHO in Tanzania was an unforgettable experience, and it left a lasting impression on me. The rich culture, history, and the warmth of the people were simply remarkable. During my time there, I had the privilege of learning about the Wahehe tribe, and I have to say, from my observations, they were by far the most organized tribe in the region. The Wahehe’s history of resilience and leadership is evident in the way they carry themselves today. The way they’ve preserved their traditions, from farming techniques to their social structures, speaks to a deep sense of unity and planning. I was truly moved by how meticulously they manage their community, passing down essential knowledge from one generation to the next with such pride. One of the things that stood out to me was how they balance modern life with the wisdom of their ancestors. Whether it was the structured way in which they organized festivals, or the communal efforts in maintaining their village, there was a sense of cohesion and purpose in everything they did. I couldn't help but admire their respect for history and how they’ve successfully integrated their traditions with the modern world. The Kijiji cha MAKUMBUSHO experience gave me not only an appreciation for the Wahehe people but also a deeper understanding of how cultural heritage can be preserved and celebrated in the most organized, thoughtful ways. I left with a greater respect for the Wahehe tribe and a genuine sense of connection to the history that thrives in this incredible community. ---

For those interested in history and culture, this outdoor museum offers a wonderful opportunity to explore and learn about the traditional lifestyles of various Tanzanian tribes. It’s an enriching experience that highlights the diversity and heritage of the country.

Not a very hot spot to visit in Tanzania, an old museum with mostly pictures not art works or old objects. Majority of the halls are just filled with pictures of Politicians and history of Tanzania and America friendship. There are 4 old cars, 2 Rolls Royce and another Mercedes Benz belonging to government showcased in the open area. In another corner in open area is the memorial of US embassy bombing thats interesting to read the story. I was expecting to a section for Tanzania wildlife, tribal life and evolution of human in Africa that you unfortunately cant find any related topic regarding this there.

Shoppers Plaza in Mikocheni is an expansive and remarkable supermarket that offers a vast range of products. From household goods to food items, fresh produce, premium chocolates, and more, they cater to a wide array of needs. With its diverse selection, it serves as a convenient one-stop destination for all your shopping requirements. This supermarket is a shining example of efficiency and integrity. It offers a wide range of products to cater for everyday needs and beyond, all at consistently low prices that make regular shopping easy on the wallet. A particularly impressive feature is the commitment to transparency: every receipt includes a QR code that links directly to the Tanzania Revenue Authority’s website, where a full breakdown of your purchase is displayed when scanned. This is a rare and commendable example of a business that embraces digital accountability while keeping customer convenience in mind. For budget-conscious shoppers who also value ethical business practices, this store is an obvious choice. # Dar es Salaam # Tanzania

I’ve been going to various Shoppers for many years and this one in Mikocheni I will not visit again. The manager and assistant unfortunately do not understand what customer service means. Maybe other Shoppers could teach them what it means?! Very disappointing experience with them today! I know that nothing will come from this review as reviews don’t mean much to them, unfortunately.

Couldnt many things that I was looking for. The spices section the girls are rude and bored to work. You literally have to beg for something!! Cooked food gey finished even before 1 pm! Who are you guys serving? If its customers then do a study and increase the volume of what you cook in order to serve people who come there expecting to get lunch at 1 or 2pm.But also improve the spices and veggies section to have someone who is willing to serve people.

The Spice Route Restaurant in Dar es Salaam offers a vibrant fusion of African, Indian, and Arabic cuisine that reflects the coastal Swahili culture. It celebrates the region's historical role in the spice trade and embraces its cosmopolitan nature. The restaurant is known for its amazing food and excellent service. Freshwater sardines are a popular dish here, prepared by sun-drying or smoking them before stewing with onions.
The food was delicious! We had the lamb biryiani, seasonal saag and dal tadka. Everything was very well seasoned. The ambiance was gorgeous. Lots of local art on display in the restaurant and a beautiful wall mural outside. The service was top tier and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend as a great date night or special occasion event.

Nestled high atop Oyster Plaza, Shooters Grill offers a delightful dining experience that combines premium steak cuts with breathtaking views of the peninsula. As you settle in, the gentle night breeze enhances your enjoyment of their sundowner specials. This rooftop gem transforms on weekends into a lively venue featuring live music and wine tastings paired with delectable dishes. While it shares space with CTFM for those craving grilled seafood, Shooters Grill stands out for its upscale ambiance and attentive service.

Rooftop restaurant with a nice view of the Ocean. Had a juicy burger(the bun could have been more tender) and fries. WiFi is not for use by the customers, I had to ask the manager for the Wi-Fi password. Internet speeds are low like many other places in Dar es Salaam.
Mbuche M — Google review
The food is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. One of the dishes we ordered, a sirloin steak, didn't seem to be from the real sirloin part, and a lot of the fascia was intact, so it wasn't sliced. The server tried to say that it was because it was well done, but since the order was medium rare, he was only making nonsense assumptions. The atmosphere is nice, but the food and service seem to be divisive.

I ordered a medium Sirloin steak, but the steak was dry. Bit crispy outside, red-ish but not juicy inside. A bit hard to cut. But the seafood platter is very nice. Their apple pie also good. Service is good. Wonderful view when sunset.
Tri A — Google review
Great rooftop restaurant with amazing view. It feels a but strange entering almost through the lobby of a bank, but no complaints. The food and the drinks are great and the service very polite and speedy. Given the way they want to present themselves (upscale), they should make some minor adjustments to the location: you sit on plastic lawn chairs and the place needs a new coat of paint. Overall a great experience and a great place for steaks.

Great spot for sundowners and happy hour on local and imported beers, wines and a selection of spirits. The food is really good too and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend Miraj, who’s there for us everytime we go. Shooters has a great view of the ocean and the peninsula area. You can catch a great sunset there. Pro-tip: Happy hour is from 5-6. Call ahead if you think you will be a little bit late to order your poison of choice.
