Beppu in 1 day

If you only have 1 day to spend in Beppu, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Beppu is one of Japan’s most famous hot spring resorts, known for having an exceptional number and variety of onsen, from traditional baths to outdoor sand and mud baths. The city’s “Hells of Beppu” (jigoku) showcase vividly colored, steaming hot springs that are for viewing rather than bathing. Visitors can explore different onsen districts, stroll along streets where steam rises from vents in the ground, and sample local specialties like onsen-steamed cuisine. Nearby mountains and coastal views add easy access to hiking, scenic lookouts, and seaside walks.
With favorites like Jigokumushikobo Kannawa, Otto e Sette Oita(オット エ セッテ オオイタ), and Chinoike Jigoku, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Ajidokoro Yoneda and Chinetsu Kanko Labo Enma so you can get the best taste of Beppu while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Umi Jigoku, also known as Sea Hell, is one of the eight Beppu Hells in Japan. This geothermal pool was formed 1,200 years ago when Tsurumi Volcano erupted and is the largest hot spring among the group. The cobalt-blue water of Umi Jigoku looks magical and reaches temperatures around 98 degrees Celsius. Visitors can admire the vapors cloaking the pool while enjoying a footbath or visiting the nearby cafe.
🌟 A must-visit gem in Beppu! This spot is absolutely beautiful and worth adding to your itinerary. You don’t need to spend hours here—we explored everything in under an hour and still felt satisfied! We arrived around 4 PM after taking bus #5 from Beppu Station. The ticket was just ¥500, making it a quick, affordable, and memorable stop. Highly recommended!

The colour is very pretty! Has a large selection on their omiyage (gifts). I recommend going to this place. You get to see water lily garden, and the red hell. There's also greenhouse, but it's just very small section.
Jessica T — Google review
A short bus ride (20 mins, bus 41) from Beppu Station is Umi Jigoku hot springs. Too hot to swim and they describe it as “hell” as resembling what hell might be like. Lots of tourists and a good gift shop. Walk up to the Shrine and enjoy the green environment and ponds with water lillies.
Paul S — Google review
Only this onsen is worth visiting in Beppu. The blue colour and steaming is stunning m. The place is well maintained and has a nice walking path around the pond. Honestly, the other hells are quite similar and not really worth the time, just go visit this one is enough.
Don C — Google review
One of our main itinerary points for this Japan-trip. Fascinating to see from our hotel balcony; awesome to see up close. A place I could gladly sit for hours and just soak up the scenery (sight, sound, smell). My only gripe is that there isn't any information (colour, temperature, minerals, ph-level, etc). But then again, there isn't one in Japanese either. Arrive early, beat the crowds. Free parking. Don't forget the red hell, which is also in this compound.
Cecil M — Google review
Of the three jigoku that we saw this was my favourite. Two beautiful springs to view but more importantly the hot foot bath, which fixed my very sore feet. We paid at each venue, as three was enough for us. If you are only doing one this might be the best. No lines, went straight in.
Paul W — Google review
If on a time crunch in Beppu and need to choose between “Hells” to visit, I suggest this one. It has the largest Tiffany blue pool of the ones we visited. Has a stall selling small steamed cakes and a cafe on site serving light bites including the popular steamed pudding. In hindsight, would’ve sat down to have the steamed pudding here as the area is much wider with more seating thus tourists are spread further apart as compared to Kamado Jigoku. Beautiful pool and a nice foot bath with many available spaces to sit. Small towels are on sale in the gift shop on site for 300¥.
Claire L — Google review
During our Fukuoka tour with Gogoday Travel, we visited Umi Jigoku as a backup stop and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise. The site is beautifully serene, featuring soothing blue hot springs that create a peaceful atmosphere. I particularly enjoyed the tranquil foot bath, which was both relaxing and refreshing after a day of sightseeing. The area is well maintained and offers great photo opportunities. Helen, our guide, provided insightful information about the site, adding to the overall experience. Umi Jigoku is highly recommended as a calm and unique destination worth visiting.

Beppu 'Jigoku Meguri' Hells Tour is a famous hot springs attraction with themed fenced pools and animal enclosures. The tour consists of two groups, one at Kannawa and the other further north. The Kannawa group includes unique hells like Umi Jigoku, Oniishibozu Jigoku, Shira-ike Jigoku, and Kamado Jigoku.
Interesting place to visit. All seven jigoku is unique on its own. Highly recommended to enter all seven jigoku. Souvenir and vibes of each jigoku is different.

It was a fascinating experience to explore various types of onsen all located within a nearby area. Each hot spring showcased unique characteristics—from mineral composition and water temperature to design and ambiance. Although the site is designated for observation and not for commercial use, it offers a rare opportunity to study and appreciate the natural and cultural richness of Japan’s onsen tradition. I was especially excited to learn about the geological factors that influence the formation of these hot springs and their reputed health benefits. This visit deepened my appreciation for the science and heritage behind Japan’s bathing culture. The parking was free of cost.
Saudeep B — Google review
There are 7 hells in total - 5 clustered together and 2 a bit farther away. Each has its own unique character and a separate entrance. At the main hell you can either buy a ticket for all 7, a ticket for the 5 adjacent ones, or pay individually. We chose the third option. After nearly an hour at the first/main hell, the kids picked the alligator hell next. Visiting 2 hells felt more than enough for us 🤷‍♂️.
Boaz G — Google review
Pretty incredible and fascinating place! You can explore all 7 on a day, just need to take the bus between 2 sites. The combined ticket is good value if you can do all 7. The information desk has very friendly and helpful staff, good English too. One star less because of the conditions of the crocodiles and fishes... We enjoyed all the jigoku, had fun collecting stamps!

This was a total unexpected and super nice experience in Beppu. We did a road trip thru Kyushu and had a brief stop in Beppu and visit the seven hills, very nice and interesting place. If have time it’s interesting to visit
Jorge B — Google review
It was a wonderfull experience, visited 5 hells but couldn't manage to go to other two as these were far away. Package for all seven hells consted me 2200 yen from Beppu Station Tourist Information. Out of these five hells the first and fourth hells were so fascinating showcasung beautiful water and huge crocodiles. Only problem was heavy traffic from Beppu Station to the place and vice versa.
Roshan K — Google review
I was only able to visit Umi Jigoku since I had limited time. There were a lot of people but the place was big as to no overcrowding. I liked the onsens with steam, it was very different and enjoyable at the same time.
Paolo P — Google review
If coming in on a cruise get tickets at the port tourist information. If you are already there go to the left side of the main entrance and purchase tickets for all of the springs, which basically skips the long queue. The springs are worth checking out at least once.

Kamado Jigoku is a geothermal park in Beppu, featuring steaming red and blue pools, a footbath, gift shop, and snacks. It's conveniently located near public transportation and offers day-use hot spring bathing facilities with salt springs known for their moisturizing properties. The park showcases various uses of geothermal energy in the city, including boiling water for tea preparation and floor heating using underground steam.
The staff will perform a small little trick. At least they did when we were there. See last video. Also, be sure to try the onsen boiled eggs with the sauce. We ended up loving it and bought several bottles of the sauce.
E K — Google review
One of the better hells in the Beppu area, with multiple different kinds of hot springs in different colours. If you don’t want to visit all the hells, I recommend checking out this one to get the most out of the experience
Helena W — Google review
This “Hell” is designed as a one-stop for many tour groups thus it is busier with many tour buses dropping off tourists every other minute. Can get cramped and noisy. Has 2 large pools of different kinds to see, but not many good photo opportunities because of the crowd. There’s a food corner at the end of the walk around the pools offering steamed food and Aso milk. Had the milk and the steamed pudding which were delicious. Not many areas to enjoy your snack as there are other tourists crowding into your personal space. Virtually no space to enjoy the foot bath as well because of, yet again, too many tourists. If you want to just visit one “Hell” and be done with it all after seeing the hot springs, then come to this one bright and early. But if you value the experience as a whole, I would recommend coming to this last.

Went on a Saturday afternoon, the cable car was smooth and the colours of autumn is not here yet. The place up there is amazing! Clouds surround us throughout the time we were up there, had a walk here and there. Love it!

Nice place to visit if you are in the area. Must try boiled eggs. Entrace fee was 500yen.
Jose N — Google review
The most crowded jigoku, but the one where you experience it all. Kamado Jigoku isn’t as big compared to Umi Jigoku or Chinoike Jigoku, but if you’re on a tight schedule or didn’t get the full jigoku pass, Kamado Jigoku is the perfect short-and-sweet summary of them all. Nevertheless, Umi Jigoku was the most eye-opening for me.
Silvia K — Google review
the most popular onsen in Betfu. it's famous but not much to see & not much place to watch. please care of entry fee for 7 onsen. package ticket is much cheaper than paying separately, but I don't know it's price effective. Just visit 2 or 3 onsen haha not much special

Jigokumushikobo Kannawa is a renowned restaurant in Beppu, offering the traditional "hell-steaming" method of cooking food using thermal spring steam. This unique style of cooking utilizes the natural heat from geothermal energy to steam a variety of ingredients such as meat, seafood, and vegetables. The restaurant is located near the Jigoku Meguri and is a popular choice for visitors looking to experience this ancient cooking technique.
Interesting experience, DIY to cook your own meals with geothermal steam from beppu hotsprings. Fresh and healthy steamed meal, clam in butter cooked in geothermal steam was noteworthy, together with steam the butter became a light butter sauce to go with other steamed items. Other item raved was the seasoned rice wrapped in leaf. The flat udon noodles with miso was good too, it completes a hearty meal with the family. For those who need a stronger flavor kick, sprinkle a light amount of salt brings out the flavors more. Parking just behind the restaurant.

Start by taking a queue number at the reception. Then line up to select your order from the machines. Make payment there. Wait till your number is called by the reception prior to handing your meal tickets to them. This will be followed by getting timers from them and collecting your food. Followed the number indicated to head to the steamer area. Staff will hand you protective gear to insert the food into the steamer. When the timer rings, head back to collect the food. Extra costs for different types of sauces. Yuzu pepper sauce tasted good. Free seating. Credit card allowed. Free parking

Awesome unique experience. Glad i was there with few people, so when i arrived i was able.to order immediately. To my rush, i ordered a meal for 2 :( Steamed foods are fresh and taste good. My only critique is that eventhough i don't order meal with shrimp. It tasted and smells like shrimp. But overall i had fun experience here
EC C — Google review
Food was ok but the waiting time was long. First, you get a queue number. Then you order you food on the ticket machine. And you wait for you queue to be called. While purchasing the food, you need to purchase the mandatory basket for steaming 🤔. When your number is called, you present your food tickets and collect your food. Then proceed to the steam counters to have your food steam for 15 mins. Limited parking lots available and there isn't any paid parking nearby. For the novelty of steaming your own food, ok la. Otherwise, there's better food options around the area. 😉
Choon T — Google review
That sounds like such a unique and fun dining experience! A restaurant where you can steam your own food using hot spring water is definitely something special. It combines the joy of cooking with the excitement of trying something new. The process of ordering from ahř⁶ vending machine, collecting your food, and then steaming it yourself adds a personal touch to the meal
Tom L — Google review
Came on Sunday and parking was difficult. We made many turns and finally saw some people leaving the parking. We had to take a number which is 90mins wait. With that, we can order our meals and wait for our turn to collect food for steaming. I find the food alright. Prawns seemed over cooked.
Wen — Google review
Enjoyed this place where you can steam your own food with the geothermal steam from the hot spring. Just purchase the meal coupons (I ordered set 2 and 17) and a ¥40 steaming fee coupon from the vending machine and get a number from the reception. When your number is called, pass your meal coupons to the counter and they will prepare the ingredients for you. It’s free-seating so after securing your seat, you bring your tray of ingredients to the steaming area according to the number on the timer provided. There, the staff will guide you through the process of wearing thick gloves and steaming your food for about 15 mins. They provide salt and ponzu as complimentary condiments but if you prefer other condiments like sesame sauce, you’ll need to add additional ¥200 per sauce.

Like to specially thanks the pudding ice cream store (饮泉堂)is that while i only have credit card at time making payments and their system/server down unable to process payment. They given me the ice cream free of charge. Its not about money but its show that they does prioritise services too. Thanks and keep it up.

Nice private onsen, 3000¥ or 30AUD for an hour in the pool. The pool is empty when you arrive and you put a coin in the vending machine to make the hot water flow! The little steam room is also very cute. There is a free public foot bath outside. We also ate lunch before we went. I got a butter chicken curry for 1400¥.

Oh it was crazy good. Men had 9 different baths. 3 indoors and 1 outdoor. Sand bath was great fell asleep. Waterfall was good massage. The cold dip was great to cool down and start another round of dipping quickly. Price was totally reasonable for how long I spend there. Totally worth the 3 stars Michelin rating.

Peaceful, Clean, and Full of Character—Time It Right for a Serene Soak I’m no onsen expert, but Hyōtan Onsen gave me a truly memorable experience. I visited around 5 PM on a Wednesday (nor reservation), just after the crowds had cleared out, and had several pools completely to myself. The several pools were quiet, serene, and surprisingly magical. The sand bath was interesting—while I didn’t find it deeply relaxing or sleep-inducing, I can see how others might. The constant shoveling of sand and chatter from new arrivals made it a bit hard to fully settle in, but it was still worth experiencing once! The mini campus is compact but easy to navigate. BRING CASH—you’ll need it for entry, and the steamed egg fund (which is absolutely worth it; they taste distinctly different and delicious). Also, BRING A TOWEL unless you want to rent a flimsy one. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap are all provided, and the lockers were spacious enough for my backpack. I appreciated the clean facilities and the quiet relaxation room where I could read in peace. Staff provide a yukata for the sand bath, and everything felt thoughtfully arranged. If you can time your visit to avoid crowds, it’s a truly relaxing experience. Highly recommended for a one-of-a-kind soak in Beppu.

Amazing onsen experience – a must-visit in Beppu! Hyotan Onsen is one of the best hot spring experiences I’ve had in Beppu. The place is clean, well-maintained, and offers a wide variety of baths including sand baths, steam rooms, and open-air rotenburo. The water quality is excellent and you can really feel the minerals working on your skin. I wanted to go for the private baths—But it's fully booking it's recommend to book the private onsen in advance. There’s even a place to enjoy steamed food cooked with onsen heat, which was delicious. It’s easy to access and very welcoming for both locals and tourists. Don’t miss it if you’re visiting Beppu :)

This was my first onsen experience and I loved it ! I am a tourist - all the information is easy to follow (clothes into locker, shower with amenities supplied). Lots of different types of bath - hot, cold, inside and outside. I loved them all. It’s busy but no wait time , and it’s big so lots of space. Would reccomend if you’re visiting Beppu!

Chinoike Jigoku, also known as Blood Pond Hell, is a striking thermal pool with dark-red water naturally colored by iron oxide. It is part of the popular Hell Tour which includes visits to various other hells like Sea Hell, Oni Rock Monk Hell, White Pond Hell, and more. The tour ticket allows access to all these sites and offers the opportunity to try out hot foot baths.
The hell: very nice weird color. A little more on the orange side when we visited (mid-October), but still super nice. Highly recommend making this the last of the 7 hells that you visit, as the restaurant Gokurakutei is next door and you can end your visit with a nice hearty meal after a round of the hells. Chinoike’s footbath is also very nice and may have been the hottest among the 7 hells of Beppu!

This and the Umi hell are my favourite. It also has one of the largest shopping area. Good to have it as your last stop to do all the shopping for hell that you want.
E K — Google review
Fair warning, Chinoike Jigoku is pretty far from the rest of the hells, and the other hells also have red pools, so if you’re short on time I probably would skip the two over here and instead visit the other hells that are lumped together. But if you have too much time like me and like seeing stuff it’s a pretty cool red steaming pool! 😂👍

We had time to enjoy the foot bath at Chinoike Jigoku, as it was less crowded compared to Umi Jigoku. But if I had to pick one, I would still lean towards Umi Jigoku.

We rented a car and did the Beppu “hell tour,” and one of the stops was Chinoike Jigoku, aka the Bloody Pond Hell. The water’s a deep reddish-brown because of iron oxide in the spring — kind of cool, but not mind-blowing. The gift shop had some fun stuff too.

We came here as a group of 3 for lunch around 1pm. Waited in line but it was fast enough. The menu is nothing fancy with udon and so a etc. the special is dango Jiri which is a miso based soup with noodles and veg. Home cooked food , nothing fancy We waited over an hour for food 3 noodles which was nuts They are soooo slow to serve such simple food and small menu.. its a really poor experience and it was fairly average. My advise is not worth theq wait.

Chinetsu Kanko Labo Enma is a unique dining experience where you can cook your own food using the natural steam from hot springs while enjoying a foot spa. It's an interactive experience as you place your food into the steam hole and wait for it to be ready. Read about this place from the Beppu Taiken Bus Ticket website, which offered the cooking experience in exchange of 4 coupons. I made a reservation about 3 days prior via the online booking site and bought the coupons from the tourist information desk at JR beppu station. The food was prepared as soon as we reached at 11am and we were invited to place the food trays into the steamer. It took about 10 minutes for the food to be served. Everything was fresh and tasted good. As the weather was cold, the food became cold very quickly. Possible to request for the seats with hot water to soak your feet. Quite an interesting experience for this hotspring town.

I normally don't do this. But this experience was horrible and I intend to make this review public. We arrived around 11am, the place was basically empty and the waiter said, they take reservations ONLY! So for future customers, if you don't make reservation, dont waste your trip here, even if there's no customers here. They will refuse to take you in. No matter what! Its my first time trying steam food, but this experience killed it. Will never come here again.

Ok you should go at least once - enjoy your Onsen steamed meal while soaking your feet under the table (¥500 extra + ¥200 for a towel if u didn’t bring your own 😳). For the price, not worth a second visit. The steamed pizza was unique, a bit chewy which was cool. Skimpy on toppings for ¥1500. But again, if u r looking for unique experiences in Beppu - go at least once.

Interesting place to have experience to cook hot spring food, and enjoy foot spa at the same time. Delicious chicken, vegetables, seafood, especially noodles with boiled eggs. Have lots of fun when you put those food into steam hole, and countdown til foods ready. If you have more time to stay at Aso mountain, this restaurant is a good place to try another's cooking experience, and good place to have lunch. Recommend it with five star experience. Enjoy it quite much.

Not far away from the Kannawa tourist centre. Quite a new resturant. It provides wide varities of raw food for steaming. Staff communicated with limited English. But still, they did detail instruction on operation of steam stoves. Food quality was marginally average, but fresh enough. Slightly over priced.

Second time here! Just as wonderful as it was three years ago. Can enjoy a self-steamed cooked meal while soaking feet in a foot bath. Can’t recommend enough!
Margot B — Google review
food below average, bad service, you can go for fun to experience the "onsen steam food", but don't expect quality food and any service. Go for other options

Italian restaurant
Otto e Sette Oita, located in Beppu's Kannawa District, is the brainchild of Chef Tetsuya Kakehashi. Combining Italian culinary techniques with Oita Prefecture's exceptional produce and Beppu's unique hot spring steam cooking tradition, this restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience that cannot be replicated elsewhere. The menu, primarily in Japanese, can be translated using a phone and features surprise menus that require advance reservation.
One of the very best Italian restaurants in Beppu with free parking lots . Every dish was excellent executed. Well presented and delicious . Must book in advance.

A wonderful lunch set costs JPY1380 including appetizer, pasta, main dish, plus 2 bread, coffee/tea

The menu was unfortunately only in Japanese, but we could translate it with the phone. It was worth it and the food was excellent. I would recommend to make a reservation. They have also surprise menus, which have to be reserved in advance.
Pablo P — Google review
They said at 1330 it's close for today, though people were dining

Came across town to find this restaurant. Stated ‘open’. But it was closed. Update your info if you value being online.

(Translated by Google) The seasoning was light overall, and the food made the most of the ingredients. It was my first time trying steamed pasta, but it was chewy and delicious compared to boiled pasta. I was expecting the pork main to be juicy after being sauteed, but the hell steaming made it light and tender, so it might not be to everyone's tastes. I had the 4,500 yen course, and both the atmosphere and the food were wonderful, so I had a really enjoyable time!

(Translated by Google) I took a bus from the airport, but it is difficult to access without a car. They seem to be reconstituting it while making the most of Oita's unique ingredients, dishes, and cooking methods. The entrance is difficult to find as there are other stores inside as well. You can choose your favorite course pasta, main course, and dolce. Pranzo 3800 yen 2 pieces of homemade geothermally fermented bread ・Rice flour and salt koji ・Mixed with sake lees from Chiebijin in Oita Mineral water with after-meal drink Appetizer ・Carpaccio of beautiful women pasta ・Broccoli and anchovy flavor fusilli ・With kale and wagyu beef sauce palate cleanser ・Vegetable and spice sorbet using butterfly pea main ・Goichi's black pork hell steamed ・Hell steamed Oita Wagyu beef (+700 yen) dessert ・Jigokumushi pudding (flower smile sake lees pudding) ・Ishigaki mochi I am very satisfied with the content of this course at this price. We basically decided to share, but each dish brought out the flavor of the ingredients and was a little less salty. However, the sauce is thick, the pasta is unique, and the fusilli has a particularly strong flavor. Both main dishes are Jigokumushi. Perhaps because it's a shoulder roast, pork is tough, so if you're looking for wagyu beef, we recommend it. Both desserts are exquisite. The arranged Ishigaki mochi was made from canelé dough, but it was exquisite. There are some Japanese wines, but they are not very tasty. A restaurant where you can enjoy cuisine unique to a hot spring area in a calm atmosphere.

(Translated by Google) I had the 4,500 yen lunch. The dishes were all very elaborate and delicious. However, because the meat was steamed in the hot springs, it was very tender. I felt it could have been a little firmer. (Original) 4500円のランチをいただきました。趣向を凝らした料理ばかりで大変おいしかったです。ただ、温泉で蒸して調理しておられるので、どのお肉もホロホロでした。もう少し、歯ごたえがあっても良いかなと感じました。

Cafe
Restaurant
Nestled in the charming area of Kannawa, Kokochi Cafe Musubino is a delightful gem that transports you back to the Showa era with its vintage ambiance. Housed in a historic private residence dating back to 1908, this cafe exudes character and warmth. Guests are greeted with genuine hospitality, making every visit feel special. The menu boasts an array of handmade delicacies that showcase high-quality ingredients, beautifully presented for an enjoyable dining experience.
I stopped by for a late lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. The set menu of the day had pork nabe, foil-grilled saury, brown rice, soft tofu, and small renkon and carrot dishes. It also came with self-serve drinks (I had a fruit vinegar drink). Everything was delicious! Also, the cafe space had a really nice atmosphere, and the woman who served me was very kind. The lunch menu was one specific set menu, and it seemed to just be one chef and one server working, so I probably wouldn't recommend this cafe for people with difficult dietary requirements. Everything in the lunch seemed to be quite healthy and light though. I think they serve coffee and sweets too, but I didn't see the menu.

Beautiful place, excellent traditional set breakfast. The owner was lovely, the atmosphere was really calm, and the value was excellent. What an excellent experience. Thank you for serving me even with my limited Japanese language ability!

Stopped by this cosy cafe on the way back from the hells. Heated tablecloths so it’s all warm during the colder months. Self service tea available, and you have to remove your shoes upon entering. There’s also a small section for souvenirs. We ordered a lunch set and a dessert set, as the owner (who can’t really speak english) said we have to order minimum 1 set each. Lunch was delicious with the creamy stew and steamed fish so tender, however we did not finish it as we already had lunch- we initially only wanted teas and cakes as our afternoon tea. Desserts were good, not exceptionally sweet. Tofu was really good as well. Basically everything was perfect, except the wait time. We were the only customers waiting for food in the afternoon but waited 50mins for the food to arrive. We weren’t in a rush, so we didn’t bother the staffs but that’s something to consider when you decide to dine in at this place. Also, tax on top of the price. Oh they don’t have a menu as well, so whatever the staff tells you, you have to get it.

Wholesome homemade food 🍲 the place is very cozy and seems popular since had multiple reservations so we were lucky to get in! They have a set menu which was amazing and they even helped create a unique vegan set menu! Excellent service all around 👌

Absolutely delightful little lunch café with a unique aesthetic that is very cozy and comfortable. The tables have heated blankets that make you want to sit for hours on a rainy afternoon. The owners are very kind and they make an amazing set lunch. It's just one set meal each day consisting of 1 or 2 main dishes and a couple of side dishes. Everything I had when I was there tasted super fresh, healthy, and delicious. There's also various teas and coffees to help yourself to as you like. It was a lovely and wholesome experience that I definitely recommend if you're in the area.

My family and I had a lovely time at Kokochi Cafe Musubino. We had just gone to an onsen and were looking for a warm drink and cake afterwards. As soon as we walked into the cafe, we knew we had found a wonderful place. The ambience is delightful and they had gentle jazz playing that went perfectly with the space to set just the right atmosphere. The two people who run the cafe are so kind and friendly. The drinks and cake were yummy as well. I would definitely like to return to try their lunch food, which smelled delicious. I would also like to return to spend time reading or working there just to soak up the great atmosphere. I definitely recommend Kokochi Cafe Musubino cafe!

Absolutely amazing little japanese restaurant. The unique set menu was wonderful, home made and tasty, probably worth much more than what they are charging currently. They even have some craft beer (not local ones unfortunately). A hidden gem close to all the “hells of Beppu”. + amazing home made cakes (took a photo this time!)
