Putien Mitsukoshi BGC Mall

Was treated to a fantastic birthday treat for a friend at 1 Michelin Star (Singapore) restaurant, Putien. This particular branch is located at the 2nd floor of Mitsukoshi Mall right beside El Born. Putien showcases a different take on Chinese food which is geared more towards seafood with the cooking style of Putian in the Fujian province of China. The Kitchener Road restaurant in Singapore started by Uncle Fong was given a Michelin Star in 2019 but has been part of the Michelin Guide as a Bib Gourmand. It has been recognized by Michelin for 6 years now. This was brought to the Philippines by the Vikings Group and currently has 3 Manila branches. We asked our alert and knowledgeable server, Gio for their bestsellers which would appeal to those not accustomed to Fujian cuisine. Food - 5*, Gio presented us with an array of delicious and easy to like dishes. We got their Fujian Red Mushroom Lor Mee (₱568 M), Putien Crispy Oyster (₱658 M), Sweet and Sour Pork with Lychees (₱588 M, 2 orders), Deep-Fried Chicken with Garlic (₱968), Putien style Pork Ribs (₱168 each, 3 pieces), Deep-Fried Pork Trotters with Salt and Pepper (₱268 each, 5 pieces), Stir-Fried Kailan with Beancurd Skin (₱588 M), Steamed rice (₱50 each). For dessert, we had Deep-Fried Durian Puree (₱168), Pumpkin Cream with Ice Cream (₱168), Glutinous Rice Cake with Sesame and Grated Peanut (₱168) and Double Boiled Pear with Osmanthus and Mandarin peel (₱168). The quality and taste of the food coupled with the impeccable service makes it worthy of the star. Though, the Singapore store was the one directly responsible for the accolade. Service - 5*, Superb, we stayed in a private room for 10 with a consumable rate of ₱15,000. Gio was unobtrusive yet ever present. Eager to help but not belligerent. The room had a max time of 3 hours but since there was no seating after us, we stayed about 4 hours and he was ably replaced by the charming Cristine when his breaktime came up. Atmosphere - 5*, clean, functional and inviting Parking - 5*, plentiful at the basement parking of the mall.
