(Translated by Google) The largest regional library in Gomel is located in the city center, not far from the station (10 minutes walk) in a building that is a historical and cultural value. I have been her reader since 1999. I have visited rarely for the last 5 years due to the availability of everything I need on the Internet. For some reason I recently went through the now-annual mandatory re-registration. There was a need to use Standard documents in our work. However, I never visited - I found everything on the Internet without leaving home, which saved my time. Library collections (textbooks and journals) are necessary for students in various academic disciplines, as primary sources, as well as for their teachers. It is still more pleasant to work with printed material in your hands and on paper than on a computer (it is easier to absorb and process information, it is better for vision - screen radiation does not put pressure on the eyes). Printed material on paper is especially necessary for the periodical departments; local history, art literature and foreign literature. The library has an additional paid service for searching and processing printed material, paid photography and photocopying services. The library hosts many different public events with a small social fee. A computer literacy course is conducted on an ongoing basis for pensioners. Almost always on the second floor of the library you can see another exhibition of author's works. The library has a Rare Book Museum. I would especially like to note the building itself in which the library is located. The building has high ceilings and beautiful historical decor.
