The tale of Christopher Columbus's journey to the New World is a captivating chapter in history, particularly his first landfall on San Salvador Island in the Bahamas on October 12, 1492. This momentous event marked the beginning of European exploration in the Americas, although Columbus mistakenly believed he had reached Asia. Today, San Salvador boasts stunning beaches that are perfect for relaxation and swimming. The island features a charming community that invites visitors to linger longer than planned.

My crew and I landed here after 2 months at sea, and were greeted by kind men with bows and arrows. They took us to their village and gave us parrot feathers and gold, then showed us where to find more. Quite the welcome, I'd recommend anyone else to visit if you have the chance!
Beautiful ocean colors. May find some sea glass along the waves. Great photo location!
I mean you can't enjoy something was taken by force it's the truth as long as the owners (Natives) didn't want to give it in exchange of nothing as well as the entire land of the Americas, you can enjoy it as long as the Natives of that island have agreed to be like that and to be for everyone to visit it and I hope they do still own it after all that, the same idea applies for all the land of the Americas, it's all for the Natives, Colombus wasn't a hero. I only give it five stars because the island is very beautiful actually.

This plaque was put here in the 80s ready for the 500yr anniversary of Christopher Colombus landing on San Salvador(hence the name of the Island, Holy Savior)
Great beach and place to swim, there are toilets and an outside shower here, the only beach on the Island with these luxuries.
Beautiful 500 year commemorative monument and plaque of CC’s landing. I find it perplexing how whoever repainted the monument couldn’t have done a better job of getting the paint on the monument and not on the plaque. How hard can it be to apply paint in a straight line?
