We hosted our wedding at Puncak Dani and stayed there for four days. While the location itself has potential, we were unfortunately quite disappointed with the overall experience—especially considering the premium paid for exclusive use of the property.
First, the service left much to be desired. The property manager, Fariz (also known by some as Daniel), was rigid and unwilling to negotiate on payment terms, even though we had hoped for some flexibility given the scale and nature of our event. We respected the agreed terms, but it was disheartening that almost every small request—including additional mattresses—was subject to extra charges, despite having booked the entire property.
Second, the condition of the property fell well below expectations. Much of the furniture was dated and in need of serious maintenance or replacement. The main dining table had peeling wood, and many areas clearly required a thorough cleaning. The access road was filled with potholes, which was not only inconvenient but also potentially damaging to guests’ vehicles. This issue had already been present a year ago during our site visit, so the excuse that the property was currently occupied did not hold up. Even the turning into the property is terribly sharp. They need clearer sinage. We had to get RELA to assist. Other facilities, like the gazebo, also showed signs of wear and poor upkeep.
The basement in Dani Lodge was especially disappointing. There was a strong, unpleasant sewer-like smell that lingered throughout the space, and the pebbled wall was visibly damp. We had to constantly spray air freshener just to make it somewhat bearable for guests. It was far from what we expected when booking a property for a special event and hosting overnight guests.
Most concerning, however, was the plumbing. A number of toilets could not flush properly, and guests had to contact us in the middle of the night to raise the issue. The response time from management was very slow, and when they did show up, the solution to poor water pressure was simply to swap out a shower head from one bathroom to another. These basic amenities should be in proper working condition, especially when hosting a large event like a wedding.
That said, our wedding itself went absolutely beautifully and was so wonderfully executed. All of our guests had an amazing time and spoke highly of the experience. But to be clear, that was no thanks to the venue—it was entirely due to the extraordinary efforts of our amazing vendors, incredible wedding planner, and our supportive loved ones who went above and beyond to make everything perfect.
Overall, Puncak Dani did not meet the standards we expected for a special occasion. With better maintenance, service, and responsiveness, it could be a much more pleasant venue. But based on our experience, we would be hesitant to recommend it to others planning important events.
