Nestled in the heart of Tasmania, Barn Bluff is a striking cone-shaped peak that stands at 1559 meters above sea level. This impressive summit rises dramatically from an alpine plateau, making it a magnet for adventurous hikers and climbers seeking a challenge. I first laid eyes on this majestic mountain during my visit to Cradle Mountain back in 2008, and its remote appearance only adds to its allure.

Epic hike! Worth detouring on Overland track if you like scrambles and have a head for heights / exposed climbs. We did it from Waterfall Hut, set off in the morning
loved this hike. it was actually really sunny and bright out when i went up. i think a bit of shade would’ve been nice with some cloud cover but it made for a clear view and nice blue skies in the photos. i stayed at lake roadway and hiked in and up barn bluff the next day to break up the hike. the trail takes you all the way up to the scrambly bit. when you’re in the boulders, there’s cairns- if you start to lose them just hike up and keep looking around.
Challenging climb with lots of loose rock but well worth the effort. Magnificent 360 deg views inc Cradle Mountain and Lake Will
