Very nice and clean will come back soon!
Its a great place to walk, run or ride a bike. Many people use it so please be considerate. Also wildlife. Turtles, gators, snakes, bats, and various birds.
Bring water because this is basically 6.25 miles of full sun. Trail is asphalt and has large, deep cracks in places, so be careful. Keep in mind though that it is a great, free resource. Grass along the trail was well maintained. Plenty of free parking at various playgrounds along the trail.

Know before you go

  • Bring your own water as there are no public water fountains along the trail
  • Be cautious of large cracks in some parts of the asphalt trail
  • Help maintain cleanliness by properly disposing of trash outside overflowing bins to protect local wildlife
  • Start your journey at Dixie Farm Road Park for convenient facilities like bathrooms

Reviews

The Southbelt Hike & Bike Trail, also known as El Franco Hike and Bike Trail, offers a mix of positive experiences for visitors. Reviewers mention the trail's cleanliness and well-maintained grass areas. Some highlight the presence of wildlife like ducks, turtles, and geese at Riverstone Creek retention pond adjacent to the trail. However, concerns about trash overflow in bins affecting local animals are raised. Visitors appreciate the park's amenities such as sports fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, splash pads, wetlands, and recreation centers that cater to various interests.

We used this trail for biking and had a good time. There are a few cross walks that go through roads, so we had to stop a couple times. Keep in mind there are also no specific bike lanes.

This neighbors Riverstone Creek retention pond where you can fine a wonderful gang of ducks turtles and one very grumpy goose. It's also known as El Franco Hike and Bike trail which is an extension to the larger El Franco Sports field and Splashpad located just off beltway 8 feeder and Hall Rd. ... El Franco in a whole has everything you want in a community park. Sports ballpark has several feilds, picnic areas, playground, splash pad, nature wetlands, recreation center and indoor and outdoor reception areas.... It's the best park in this area. It's my nature sanctuary to where I can honor our beautiful planet. I'm grateful it's available for my workouts and nature fix. P.S. I can't tell you how many pounds of trash I've cleaned up because the trash cans we're all over flowing with trash and when it storms it flys into the water and THAT is a danger to the life of the turtles and ducks. PLEASE do your part to keep this park clean. Do NOT throw your trash in these overstuffed bins.... maybe use your home or nearby gas station. #DontMessWithTexas
