I'm tired of writing and re-writing nice ways of saying that the staff is the worst I've ever experienced in the world. Worse than my time in Barranquilla which at the time I thought was bad.
20 years visiting hotels and resorts every week, and this was the worst. The staff is lazy, slow-moving, and has a very clear "that's someone else's job" attitude because they outright tell guests this before walking away without pointing to the right staff (at the very least!).
Moreover, getting what you asked for without staff attitude -- even when asking with extreme politeness -- is a 50/50 tossup. I just stopped caring after a day of the bullshit. My extremely polite Colombian girlfriend was also confused by the attitude of the staff.
Of course, there were exceptions in the staff. Amazing people like Orlando who personally walked us to our room and explained the amenities of the hotel to us. We are extremely thankful for Orlando and the two other staff members who went above and beyond in their jobs whom my girlfriend and I can remember from our visit to the hotel.
But "hey, the beach view is nice!" 🙃
I don’t usually leave reviews, but this experience was so unbelievably bad that I feel morally obligated to warn others.
We stayed at Decameron Isleño – All Inclusive, and it was, without exaggeration, the worst hotel experience I have ever had — and I’ve traveled a lot. From the moment we arrived, it was one issue after another.
Check-in was delayed by HOURS, and no one cared to communicate or apologize. Because of this, we missed out on part of the all-inclusive benefits we paid for.
Our room was filthy and outdated, with a broken TV that had no sound.
The Wi-Fi was a joke — barely working, if at all.
We had no hot water in our room, which made an already uncomfortable stay even worse.
And worst of all? My husband got severe food poisoning from the hotel buffet — vomiting for over 24 hours. We didn’t eat anywhere else. It was clearly the food, and no one took responsibility.
And then, there’s the staff. Completely disrespectful and shockingly unprofessional. Every time I asked to speak to someone, I was given the runaround. No one had answers. Just a lot of “I don’t know” and blank stares. I’ve never felt so dismissed and ignored by hotel staff in my life. It was like we were an inconvenience to them for simply expecting basic service.
We paid nearly $2,000 for what was supposed to be a relaxing, all-inclusive vacation. Instead, we got a stress-filled, miserable experience that we wouldn’t wish on anyone.
If you’re thinking of booking here — DON’T. There are far better places to stay in San Andrés. Save your time, money, and sanity. This place is a complete disaster.
This hotel is correct, but really overpriced. The rooms need to be renovated and the food at the buffet is not very good and not very varied. Great location and nice swimming pool otherwise.

Consider visiting during the off-peak season to avoid crowds and potentially get better service
If possible, request a room in the newer wing of the hotel for updated amenities
Bring your own 'do not disturb' sign if needed as rooms may not have them provided
Be prepared for limited Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the property

Guests mentioned cold showers, stiff balcony doors, outdated rooms with maintenance issues like broken TVs and bathroom doors that don't close properly. The inconsistent experiences at the resort were a common theme among reviewers.
