Liked the museum quite good. Beside of the photo exhibition I wanted to see, I was very positive about the remaining displayed collection. An interesting and engaging visit. In addition the building self is offering small surprises, outlooks and shifting impressions of space and directions. To me a nice discovery in an interesting town.
Really nice and relaxed atmosphere. Didn't expect a museum that is "not located in Oslo" to be this good. Parking was a littlebit tight, but overall good since it was in the center of Lillehammer.
A really great museum with great exhibits and fun architecture. A lot of great paintings here. It’s not big, just a nice size so that it won’t eat up your whole day. Been here several times and have never been disappointed. I’m always happy to visit again.

The museum is in the central area of the city, just a block from the main Street where people browse for shopping. Currently it has a major exhibit with French influence, primarily with artwork from Bonnard og Norden. The museum has several pieces from Munch amongst other artists.
This art museum contains a glorious collection of Nordic paintings in addition to modern and contemporary artworks. Of particular interest is the gallery of Frits Thaulow paintings that beautifully and expertly capture light upon water. Other paintings that stood out include a tremendous Akseli Gallen Kalela from Finland and a very earthy Anders Zorn painting (Swedish). Veronica B. was specially helpful and delighted to share about the museum collection...a great pleasure to speak with her.
