Of all the breakfast spots I have been to in the world, Parklet Bakery is - without exaggeration - the very best.
We stayed in a hotel around the corner and went to Parklet every morning.
There‘s a wide selection of dishes - both warm and cold - and many vegetarian and vegan choices. Parklet makes their own bread as well as pastries, many of which we tried. The pastries were all really delicious and truly creative, such as a Danish with blueberry cheesecake, strawberry cheesecake or lemon curd filling in the middle. Choices of pastries vary slightly from day to day, so there’s always something new to try when you go more than once.
The breakfast menu stays the same every day and breakfast can be ordered in the afternoon, too.
We especially enjoyed the smashed avocado bread with oil and dukkah, as well as the granola.
However, we also went in the evening when they were open until 10 p.m. — there was a great selection of delicious natural wine from France.
There was even an evening menu that had separate dishes than the breakfast menu.
For the coffee drinks, Parklet works with local roaster Overview Coffee. We usually order Batch Brews with our breakfast and enjoyed the Ethiopia and Honduras very much. Espresso-based drinks very really well-made, too. The double-shot espresso macchiato was the perfect espresso-milk ratio and the temperature was just perfect, too. Very delicious, I highly recommend to ask for one.
Being music lovers, especially Soul and Jazz, we really liked the old school vibes of the music at Parklet. They played all the Soul classics we love. In the evening, the music was different to match the vibe.
Most of all I would like to highlight the outstanding level of hospitality and service at Parklet: Every employee is extremely friendly, attentive, works hard, fast and clean. With ten years of experience in hospitality / specialty coffee I can honestly say that any place in the world would be proud to call this team their own.
There‘s also a merchandise shelf with some Parklet-branded products, plus coffee, beer, wine, apple juice and other products both local and imported.
Parklet offers a variety of seating options such as at the bar, high tables and bar stools, as well as regular tables and comfy chairs. It‘s located on a very quiet street and the other side of the indoors is facing a children‘s playground - lots of fun to watch the kids at play.
My wife and I are looking forward to visit you again the next time we‘re in Tokyo. Congrats!
