Hello! everyone who sees this review of Kiew Fhin Viewpoint,
We hope that this review will be helpful and serve as a reminder for those planning to ride automatic gear motorcycles or other types of vehicles up there.
Let me start by saying that on January 27, 2025, around 2:00 - 3:00 PM, my partner and I went to visit Mae Kampong and saw that there was the Kiew Fhin viewpoint, so we decided to plan a trip up there. We didn’t know the route very well, but since we were already there, we thought we’d go all the way. The road up was quite steep, winding, and narrow.
The weather was very cool and the view was amazing, just as you can see in these pictures.
However, the incident happened on our way down. The road was so steep, and we were being cautious. Since our motorcycle is automatic, every time we went downhill, we stopped and descended slowly, without accelerating. Around a curve past the waterfall (thinking of the way up), this was where the accident occurred, and we ended up in Mae On hospital for about 14 days. I sustained a fractured collarbone, a torn lung, and broken ribs, while my partner had 17 abrasions and a fractured hip.
This incident made both of us realize that automatic gear vehicles or not being familiar with the route are not something to be taken lightly when going up there. We want this story to be a lesson and a reminder for many people who are thinking of going up. This mistake has left us with not only physical scars but emotional ones as well, because the decision made by my partner to crash into the barrier happened in just a split second, to prevent us from sliding down the hill.
After staying in Mae On hospital, we heard from locals that people in the area don’t usually visit that route because it is considered “dangerous.”
In conclusion,
I’d like to thank the kind citizens and the Asian-American individuals who helped both of us during this incident. We didn’t know how long we had been unconscious, but we were incredibly grateful and touched by the help we received from all of you. Thank you so much! I don’t know if we’ll ever meet again or if you’ll see this review, but we are truly thankful from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you to Mae On Hospital, the rescue team, Dr. Pennapa Kantham, Nurse Top (paramedic), the emergency room nurses, inpatient nurses, and all the staff members who helped both of us during this incident and made it possible for us to survive.
Let this be a lesson and a reminder for many others that “never underestimate” any situation.
Thank you to everyone who sees this review.
People from Chiang Mai are so kind, and Northerners have such warm hearts.
We hope to visit Chiang Mai again soon.
