A great little find. Amenities are a bit basic, and the rooms are a tad small (ours was, at least), but the room was clean and very comfortable.
So, the details. The location can't be beaten. 5 minutes walk from the Cathedral, 10 minutes walk from St Augustine's Abbey.
We arrived and were welcomed by (I think) the owner, who could not have done more to help. Easy check-in, brief explanation on where to park at a discounted rate (no on-site parking here, but guests have a discounted 24-hour rate at a very close multi-storey; £15 per day), and we were shown to our room (top floor, and we could see the cathedral spire from the window).
The room was a tad basic, with a *tiny* unsuite sort of added into the room (but, as this would have been a monastery at some point in its past, small rooms are sort of expected).
There was no hand soap in the ensuite and no hand towels, only bath sheets, but there is a Sainsbury's Local about 15m away, so the soap issue was sorted for less than £1. Also, the toilet in our room appears to be an electric affair, which does make one heck of a noise when flushed. I think there is a macerator and suction pump, which would explain the racket!
The breakfast is a continental style, so cold meats, cheese, bread, cereal, yoghurt, that sort of thing. Nothing bad, and you can get as much as y, ou want.
Overall, this is a great little find. The price is probably the slightly higher end for what you get (£93 per night when we stayed, enf of July), but the location, the service, etc, does really make this a great little hotel if you want to stay in Canterbury centre
