Update: I did return and tried the food. Overall, the food was better than the other 3 Asian restaurants in the area that I’ve tried.
I started with chicken hot & sour soup. The flavor was good, but served barely warm. The salmon skin roll was very good and highly recommend.
The Kung Pao Chicken was good, but lacked bold flavors. The last dish I had was chicken pineapple fried rice. I liked the flavors.
UPDATE… the recipe or the cook must have change because the Kung Pao was outstanding the last few times and the flavors are much bolder…. Highly recommend the Kung Pao!!!
The service was better, but still waited about 6 minutes for the waitress to come to the table.
……….
I had a very disappointing experience today at lunch. Once I was seated, I sat for 15 minutes with no service, and when I tried to let the staff know, no one seemed to care.
I tried to explain why I was leaving to the lady that that originally seated me but she had a very bad attitude and walked away.
I talked to the manager, but she didn’t seem to really care very much.
Recommend for asian food in Silver City- the whole meal was $19 veggie fried rice, 2 vegetable spring rolls, and the green salad with ginger dressing. Was able to place order over the phone and pick up in 10 min. The rice could have fed 3, the spring rolls were good, and the salad … well I had seen on previous reviews it was iceberg lettuce and cucumbers… mine was just iceberg lettuce so I was a little sad there were no cucumbers. Overall not bad, felt the price was a little steep but would return.
tasty shrimp and they didn't salt the fries! good, anyone else would dump a load on 'em.
edit: the fried rice serving (shrimp being my favorite) is large enough for me to have at least two good-sized meals, loads of shrimp, and tasty

While some reviewers found the food to be good, with standout dishes like the Kung Pao Chicken and salmon skin roll, others were disappointed by poor service experiences. The restaurant seems to have inconsistent quality in both food and service, with some patrons praising the flavors while others criticized aspects like slow service, unprofessional staff behavior, and lackluster salads. Despite mixed reviews, there is potential for enjoyable dining experiences at W&Z Asian Bistro and Sushi Bar.

Pleasantly surprised at how good their food was! We were in town for the weekend and ended up going twice to W &Z it was that good! The thunder roll is the best! But every thing we had was perfect. Can't wait until our next trip to Silver City! The only bad thing was the parking lot could really use some TLC, it's extremely dark at night.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was truly disappointing and warrants a serious note.
From the moment we were seated, the service was abysmal. The server was clearly untrained and completely unfamiliar with the restaurant’s own menu — unable to answer basic questions, and visibly confused about ingredients and options. It felt as if they were thrown onto the floor without a minute of training.
Worse yet, their English was poor to the point where it directly interfered with our order. We had to repeat ourselves multiple times, and even then, dishes were brought to the table incorrectly — not once, but twice. This wasn’t a simple mistake, it was a total breakdown in communication and competence.
The attitude was apathetic at best. No apology for the mistakes, no effort to correct them promptly. On top of all this, the kitchen and service pace was painfully slow. It took an unacceptable amount of time to get even basic items. For a restaurant that charges standard prices, I expect a minimum level of professionalism — this was nowhere close.
This felt less like a hospitality experience and more like a training ground for people who simply aren’t ready to work in this industry. It’s unfortunate, because the food might be decent — but any potential enjoyment was completely overshadowed by the lack of care and competency in the service.
I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for a remotely pleasant or professional dining experience.
