A countryside gem with giant scoops and joyful vibes!
We visited Mighty Moose Ice Cream during a sunny afternoon road trip, and it was the perfect stop to treat ourselves. Tucked away in Yarrow, this little ice cream stand has a humble charm that instantly makes you feel welcome. You’re greeted by the cheerful face of a big wooden moose statue—kids love it, and it sets the tone for what’s to come: something playful, simple, and sweet.
The first thing that stands out? The portions. When they say double scoop, they mean it! Each scoop is massive—easily enough for two people if you're not feeling too adventurous. The prices are fair, especially considering the size and the premium taste. We tried several flavours: Mighty Moose Tracks, Black Raspberry Cheesecake, and Maple Walnut. Each one was rich, creamy, and full of flavour. The ice cream is from Birchwood Dairy, and you can taste the freshness in every bite.
We also loved the homemade waffle cones—warm, crisp, and sweet-smelling. You can even get gluten-free and dairy-free options, which is thoughtful and inclusive. My daughters absolutely enjoyed their treats—faces covered in drips, smiles from ear to ear.
The outdoor seating is simple but lovely—wooden picnic tables under umbrellas, with plenty of space for families to sit and relax. It’s a great little rest stop after a long drive. Service was polite and efficient, even though it was busy when we arrived.
If I had to mention one thing, it would be the wait time on weekends—it does get crowded, especially in peak hours. But honestly, the vibe is so relaxed, it doesn’t bother you much. It’s all part of the experience.
Mighty Moose is more than just ice cream—it’s a small memory maker.
Perfect for families, couples, or anyone craving a little joy in a cone.
