I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ori Caffé, located within John Lewis in Eldon Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience that seamlessly blends culinary delight with a unique gaming ambiance.
As an avid fan of the Ori series on Xbox, I was thrilled to discover that Ori Caffé is themed around these enchanting games. The moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the ethereal décor inspired by the game’s mystical forests and luminous spirits. Soft, ambient lighting combined with artwork from the game creates an immersive atmosphere that transports you straight into Ori’s world.
The menu is a delightful homage to the game, with food and drink items creatively named after elements from the Ori series. I indulged in the “Spirit Guardian Sandwich,” a hearty artisan sandwich filled with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. For dessert, the “Moon Grotto Pastry” was a sweet treat that perfectly complemented my meal. To drink, I chose the “Ori’s Essence,” a refreshing beverage that was both invigorating and delicious. The attention to detail in crafting a menu that reflects the game’s essence is truly commendable.
What sets Ori Caffé apart is not just its thematic charm but also the knowledgeable and passionate staff. They are well-versed in the Ori games and are more than willing to engage in discussions, provide insights, or offer assistance related to the game. Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the series, the staff’s enthusiasm enhances the overall experience, making it both a culinary and interactive delight.
In addition to the themed items, Ori Caffé offers a variety of fresh artisan sandwiches, pastries, and sweet treats delivered fresh from local bakers each morning. Their commitment to quality is evident in every bite. The coffee, made from the finest beans, is a perfect pick-me-up during a shopping spree. For those seeking healthier options, the menu also boasts a range of salads, vegan, and gluten-free choices. And if you’re in the mood for something a bit more indulgent, their prosecco cocktails are a delightful treat.
The location within John Lewis provides a convenient and serene spot to relax amidst shopping. Overlooking Eldon Square, the café offers a pleasant view, making it an ideal place to unwind. Despite visiting on a busy Saturday, I was pleasantly surprised to find the atmosphere calm and inviting.
In true Mediterranean spirit, Ori Caffé savors life’s simple pleasures, offering an experience that is both refreshing and memorable. Whether you’re a fan of the Ori games or simply seeking a unique café experience in Newcastle, Ori Caffé is a must-visit destination.
