Embarked on a breathtaking journey through Ding and Dang Slot Canyon in Southern Utah, and it was nothing short of awe-inspiring! The approximately 6-mile hike took us through a stunning slot canyon adorned with the mesmerizing hues of red rock. The sheer beauty of the canyon walls towering above created an otherworldly experience.
For fellow adventurers, I highly recommend the route of going up Ding slot canyon and down Dang slot canyon. This direction allows you to fully absorb the unique features and unfolding wonders of the landscape. The play of light and shadow against the red rock canvas is truly a photographer's dream.
Visiting in mid-November added an extra layer of adventure as we encountered water down in the slots. Wearing waders became essential, adding a splash of excitement to the journey. The sound of water echoing through the canyon walls and the unique challenges posed by the seasonal conditions made our hike all the more memorable.
Ding and Dang Slot Canyon is a hidden gem for those seeking a picturesque hike in Southern Utah. The beauty of the red rock, combined with the twists and turns of the slot canyon, creates an experience that lingers in the memory. Don't miss out on this nature's masterpiece, and remember, the best way to hike it is to ascend Ding and descend Dang for an unforgettable adventure!
An easy drive after the pavement ends, on gravel to the trailhead. I just did an out and back to "i dunno which canyon" couple of scrambley spots but don't let that hinder progress. Made it to the start of one of the slots. Didn't go to far because who needs to be a solo hiker rescue statistic?
Great walk, great views just do it. My out n back was about 2 hours total, with plenty of time for pics
Amazing hike. ❤️ Not a stroll in the park though. Took us 3.5 hours. Water holes at this time of year were mostly knee deep with one at thigh level. Ropes/ straps were all in decent shape. We carried a 25’ one just to make sure. Bring a hat and shoes you are willing to get wet as well as plenty of water, as it’s getting hot! Sandy slog in the wash to reach the fun stuff. The rope work was challenging, as I’m not a full canyoneering person. But it’s a life highlight to complete this beautiful hike.

Awesome trail and adventure. Not too narrow in parts, but tight and tricky in others. Its a good mix. Its good to bring a handling in-case one is damaged or needed in spots. Expect water in the slots
This is a great trail for testing technical skills while hiking/ bouldering. Recommend going up Ding and down Dang for less exertion in climbing up some of the obstacles in Dang, but can be done either direction. There is a 1 mile walk (from the parking area) up a drainage channel to get to the mouth of Ding. Water is likely to be in several of the slot areas. Most can be crossed over by spider walking the walls. 2023 has been a higher than normal water year. There are a few areas that may be too wide to spider walk and wading will be required. Awesome trail for more experienced folks that want to avoid the crowded family friendly hike at Little Wild Horse.
