Absolutely love this restaurant! The owner and his wife are so sweet and personable. Every time I visit Cuenca I stop here. Authentic food, large portions, all freshly made, great service and it’s made to order !
Great, subtle flavors, excellent portions and the service will have us coming here again and again. When you consider their pricing it is the best over all Chinese restaurant in town. We love Chinese food and have gone to all the restaurants in Cuenca, this is the best we've ever visited.
What we like best is that the food is not overly sweet or salty. If you are looking for a more or less delicious and healthy restaurant option to fill your Chinese food needs Jia Ji is definitely the one to try. We love the snow peas and garlic, pepper chicken and the chow mein with their own home made noodles. Five star all the way!
What a find! This tiny place on Ordonez Lasso delivers BIG flavors and HUGE portions with super fresh ingredients and super low prices.
Our three dishes--hot and sour soup, chicken with vegetables, and shrimp with bean noodles--were superb and prepared to the level of spiciness requested.
After stuffing ourselves we took home as much as we ate. Total bill--a little over $20.
Support this small family business and enjoy an excellent Chinese meal.

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience other than the friendly staff. The spring rolls were drenched in oil. Oil temperature must be too low. The fried rice was very dry and the shrimp had its intestinal track still inside. The noodles were overly soft and very soupy with hardly any flavor and also dirty shrimp veins. The restaurant itself is dark and looks like it needs new paint and a good cleaning top to bottom. Disappointed for sure. The prices are reasonable and the staff is nice.
Jia Ji is the best Chinese restaurant in Cuenca. As someone who has traveled and eaten in all provinces of China, I can say that Jia Ji is the most authentic Chinese food, and the most delicious in Cuenca. It provides Chinese food in its proper form, not bowing to western or Ecuadorian taste, and that is its best form. The menu includes iconic dishes from Central China regeion, Northern China, Sichuan, and some Cantonese, all done very well. Everything is super fresh, handmade, and done just right. And it's worth mentioning that the food is not overly salty, like a lot of the local food. Such fine cuisine will cost you a leg and an arm in America, but Jia Ji is not even pricy in Cuenca. I don't understand this but they sure get my business!
