The Rock House is a simple guesthouse with utilitarian rooms, featuring a large terrace where guests can mingle and enjoy the view of iguanas playing in the garden. The hostel is aptly named as it's built into the rock, offering clean and comfortable accommodations. While undergoing some construction work, the friendly owners strive to provide a pleasant stay for travelers at an affordable rate. The hostel provides excellent service with daily cleaning, although the cold and salty showers are reminiscent of a classic beach hostel experience.

Great stay! The owner is one of the kindest woman’s we’ve met in Colombia! Very helpful. She offert a shower after we checked out because our flight was in the evening. Clean room, good bed and great view from the terrace. Would decently recommend staying here!
We stayed here because of the high rating they have, but after staying one night we decided to leave.
Anyway this is my personal opinion, I hope the hostel will read it and try to improve because the place has a lot of potential..
The good:
- Christian was very nice and helpful.
- The location is good if you want to be far from city center and they have a nice spot to view the sunset.
The bad:
- The location is very bad, no beaches or restaurants in walking distance, you have to take taxis or rent a bike which make the good price for the room not valuable.
- The A/C worked but was really loud.
- The bed is super hard, and there's no shower had.
- The kitchen is very old and poorly accessorized (only one spoon for example) + there were ants everywhere.
- There's a roster that starts calling at 5 AM (not the hostel fault but woke me up several times).
- When you check in they give you a 2 page long rules of what not to do and that they pretty much charge you for everything, including a 10,000 pesos for luggage saving for each bag. I understand that they wanna keep it calm and quiet but it made us feel uninvited.
Overall a great experience and a very nice and supportive staff! Few things could be improved, such as shower and mattress. I'd definitely recommend to someone coming to San Andres and looking for a nice, calm place to stay.

Consider renting a bike or taking taxis to explore nearby attractions due to limited walking distance to beaches/restaurants
Be prepared for potential noise from construction work ongoing at times within the hostel premises
Take note of strict rules upon check-in including charges for various services/items; pack accordingly
Reviews
The Rock House in San Andres, Colombia, offers a mix of positive and negative reviews. Guests appreciate the kindness and helpfulness of the owner, clean rooms with good beds, and a great view from the terrace. Some guests found the location convenient for watching sunsets but inconvenient for accessing beaches or restaurants on foot. The hostel is praised for its cleanliness and friendly staff, although some improvements are suggested such as softer mattresses and better showers. Despite minor issues like loud A/C units and early morning roosters, visitors generally recommend this place for those seeking a calm stay away from the city center.

The staff are friendly, the hostel is very clean and the cleaners come in to clean everyday. The shower is cold and salty - classic beach hostel! Affordable here since San Andres island is proving to become quite popular and expensive! One thing though, there is a lot of work being done to the hostel so at times it can be loud with the builders and construction until they complete their work!
