My husband and I went to Shibuya on Saturday.
We walked around for a while, and as it got close to lunchtime, we started thinking about what to eat.
It was a hot and sunny summer day, and we couldn’t decide, until my husband suddenly remembered a ramen place he really liked, known for serving karaage (fried chicken), pork, and ramen all in the same bowl.
We walked all the way there.
It was around 1 p.m., and there weren’t many people inside, probably because it’s a bit far from the main street.
We were happy to see they had outdoor seating.
Even though it was hot, we still enjoyed sitting outside.
We ordered from the vending machine near the entrance.
My husband got a medium glass of beer and the 超男盛り豚骨ラーメン, while I ordered 5 pieces of しそ餃子 (shiso gyoza).
The staff was very kind, when he saw us outside, he came out right away to assist and set up the outdoor table for us.
He even asked if we wanted to share the ramen and kindly gave us an extra bowl. That was really thoughtful.
On the table, there were many condiments and toppings available, including seaweed, spicy oil, plum paste, citrus chili paste, grated garlic, also soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil for the gyoza.
The しそ餃子 arrived first.
I love shiso, and this is a must-try for any shiso lover!!
The skin was thin and crispy, the pork inside was juicy and flavorful, and the size was just right, not too big or too small.
With the dipping sauce, it was perfect.
I think this has become one of my favorite gyoza now!!
My husband’s 超男盛り豚骨ラーメン looked impressive, a big bowl filled with two juicy pieces of karaage, two slices of chashu, a seasoned egg (ajitama), and noodles, topped with spicy oil and green onions.
I liked that you could customize the noodles (thick/thin, soft/hard, small/large portion).
We chose all the normal options this time.
The broth was rich and flavourful, absolutely delicious.
I liked adding some seaweed to it.
The noodles were chewy and satisfying, the karaage was juicy, the chashu was tasty (though a bit too fatty for me), and the egg was nicely done.
The shiso gyoza was so good that we decided to try another type, the 名物俺流餃子, which is the original version.
It had a more classic taste, still good, but I personally preferred the shiso gyoza.
We’re already thinking about coming back again, my husband really loved the ramen, and I can’t stop thinking about the shiso gyoza!!
There are also many other ramen options I want to try, and next time I’d love to try the チーズ餃子, ワンタン, and 油淋鶏.
I wish there was an option to order chashu on its own, but I didn’t see it on the menu.
My husband and I had a very enjoyable lunch here.
We were happy with the food, the variety of choices, the friendly atmosphere, and the outdoor seating.
ごちそうさまでした!!
