My recent three-day, two-night stay at Camp Ripan was overall a pleasant experience and reconfirmed why I have returned to this property more than once.Check-in was seamless, handled by a courteous and professional reception ladies who combined efficiency with genuine warmth. Having stayed before, I found my cabin easily and appreciated being able to park directly in front of it.
The room itself was functional and comfortable. The bed, with its crisp white linens, ensured a good night’s rest. Small touches such as the water kettle with coffee and sugar packets were thoughtful. However, there are details which I believe could elevate the experience further. The cabin windows remain fixed with only a narrow ventilation opening available, which does limit fresh air circulation. In addition, the flooring bore visible damage, clearly caused by guests wearing spiked shoes indoors. This is unfortunate for a property of such character and could easily be prevented by a discreet yet clear sign at the entrance. I also noticed minor cracks above the wall, which I trust management is already aware of.
During my stay, I had the pleasure of including two full days at the Aurora Spa. This experience was truly the highlight of my visit. The design, atmosphere, and carefully curated rituals created a sense of tranquility that beautifully reflected the Arctic environment. It is an exceptional facility and certainly a unique asset for the property, worthy of dedicating time to.
A particular point of disappointment was the absence of basic complimentary toiletries. For a hotel positioning itself as a weekend retreat, one expects a small essentials kit to be readily available. Being offered a bamboo toothbrush at a cost of 45 SEK, together with toothpaste of the same price, felt excessive and unnecessary. Including these items as part of the standard amenities would significantly enhance the guest experience and align with the otherwise thoughtful service.
On a positive note, breakfast was excellent. The variety, freshness, and attentive morning staff created a very good start to each day. My one dinner in the restaurant also stood out as a refined and memorable dining experience, both in taste and service.
Overall, my stay was enjoyable, and I continue to recommend Camp Ripan to those visiting Kiruna. With a few adjustments in the finer details, it has the potential to deliver an even more consistent and memorable guest journey.
