Lovely staff and hotel. Pool and fitness room great. Short walk into the old town. Sorted us out jeep and boat tours at reception.
Hotel is amazing and the food was great but had some unexpected issues.
One was there was a school trip booked for the dates we were staying so the entire hotel was taken over by hundreds of children, who held pool parties during the day and took over entirely. While great for the kids and they weren't trouble themselves, we'd rather be warned beforehand as it meant we couldn't use the pool or bar during our stay which we were paying for, and the music was very loud all day.
Another was the night staff were pretty frustrating overall and unhelpful. Our friends had a screaming cat stuck on the roof and it took a lot of persuasion to get them to investigate, before they realized how loud it was, and ultimately ended up chasing the cat into the room. They were offered another room but had to vacate by 10, then another (3 rooms in total). They also shut the gates one night so when trying to get back in they were very annoyed that we rang the bell (it was only around 11pm. We couldn't stay in the hotel due to the kids)
Really loved it! Such a charming and welcoming hotel with friendly staff, clean rooms, crisp linens, and excellent breakfast! The hotel has beautiful gardens and pool area to sit and relax, and is within walking distance of the historic town. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

For the area standards it is a good hotel. Don't expect the American hotel standards to apply. But at least it was clean and the people are nice. The breakfast is weak and need improving. The same with the room amenities.
Nice pousada but a total mess by not owning the restaurant on site. One doesn't know what the other is doing. Some of the rooms have been modernised, lovely pool. Great location, just 10 mins on foot to the historic centre.
