Kearney Regional Airport, a charming and compact facility located northeast of Kearney, offers a welcoming atmosphere for travelers. Great Lakes Aviation provides convenient commuter flights from Denver International Airport, making it accessible for those flying in. For those coming from farther away, Kansas City International and Des Moines International are the nearest major airports, each about four hours' drive from Kearney. The airport itself features a cozy waiting area with around 25 seats and additional seating post-security.
Why you should go
1
Convenient location northeast of town
2
Clean facilities with friendly staff
3
Limited seating creating a cozy atmosphere
I'll never travel to Nebraska without this trip planner again
I do have to say this is the smallest airport I've ever been in. It was nice and clean and everyone was helpful and friendly. You sit in a little waiting area with about 25 seats and wait until they open the door for you to go through security. There is more seating on the other side of security. They have nice bathrooms, vending machines and a car rental place. You definitely don't need to be there an hour and a half early.
I tried to be positive about SkyWest replacing Denver Air. Maybe SkyWest just hasn’t gotten the bugs worked out.
But, I’ve had nothing but problems since United took over. I miss the Denver Air flight schedule, staff is not as efficient as Denver Air, delays, delays, delays. And - Denver Air had awesome snacks! 😏
The most unprofessional and disorganized airport I've ever been to. It was bad with SkyWest, but Denver Air Connection is worse. Expect your checked luggage to always be opened and inspected but never properly closed. If you park here, expect your car and property to be vandalized, and don't expect any response from anyone who "runs" the airport. You think a small airport would function more quickly, but you need to arrive at least an hour before the flight, because TSA is only open for about 20 random minutes. They will turn you away 45 minutes before the flight. Also Denver Air Connect provides absolutely no updates on in regards to anything. Good luck returning from Denver, because they might send you to an entirely different city if they can even find a pilot. The plane is questionable at best. Avoid the rear unless you want to be nauseous from noxious fumes since they don't seem to service the cabin. I'm curious how many people move out of Kearney because of this airport. I would warn people to avoid moving or traveling here because of this pathetic "airport."

Arrive at least an hour before your flight due to potential TSA opening times
Avoid leaving your car parked during ongoing construction work at the airport
Be cautious about checked luggage inspections and closures
Consider alternative transportation options if facing frequent flight delays
Reviews
Kearney Regional Airport receives mixed reviews from travelers. While some praise the cleanliness, friendliness of staff, and organization of the airport, others criticize it for being unprofessional, disorganized, and prone to delays. Positive comments highlight the small but clean waiting area with limited seating, nice bathrooms, vending machines, and a car rental service. However, negative feedback includes issues with checked luggage inspections and closures, vandalism in the parking lot during construction work by Paulsen Concrete, delays in flights causing missed connections for passengers over the past year. Despite these challenges mentioned by reviewers like Denver Air Connection's lack of updates or United's inefficiency compared to previous airlines serving Kearney Regional Airport.

My Father-in-law actually DIED do to a missed flight out of this airport. This airport is terrible! My mother-in-law attempted to get on a flight out of Kearney. She is 84 years old and was 5 minutes late according to the gate agent. However, she still had 40 minutes before boarding time. They wouldn't let her through TSA even though there was no line for this 6:20 am flight. She got a later flight that evening and because there was no one there to care for her husband because (she was supposed to be home), he tripped and fell breaking bones and laid on the floor for Lord only knows how long. Sad. We are contemplating asking for an investigation into this incident.
