This was a little spendy for us. But in the end, it was totally worth it! Very clean rooms, great breakfast and a free bottle of water. Breakfast changed from day to day. They have a bottle refilling machine too. The fire places on the patio is just so cozy to sit in front of in the evening or early morning.
The going rate for the standard room in the summer is $600 a night. If I had paid that, I would have been (rightfully!) livid at my experience. I sincerely hope that most guests are paying with points and promotions to soften the blow because the quality is very middling.
When I first entered the lobby, there was a warm and light coffee smell, which I thought was great. Unfortunately, my room smelled more like a swimming pool that had been left untreated, which was surprising as there isn’t a pool to visit.
Carpets are faded and frayed at the edges, the room’s thermostat was removed and hastily patched without placing new texture on the walls, the soap dish was missing parts of the finish, as were the door handles, and the drink fridge at reception was out of order, leaving the drinks warm. All of these things are not a big deal, but when added together and tossed with fact that, aside from being in Jackson Hole, the location is not great, the price point does not match the experience. $200 more a night I could have stayed at The Four Seasons in Teton Village, a 5-star establishment.
This Hampton was once beautiful in her prime, but her fixtures are now faded and uncared for, leaving an overpriced and lackluster impression.
If you have Hilton points, by all means, this fine. If you’re paying full price, stay somewhere else.
I would rate this hotel 2 out of 5 stars. While the rooms were clean upon arrival, the beds were decent, and the location near Target and Albertsons is convenient, the negatives far outweighed the positives.
Noise: The walls are extremely thin. You can hear toilets flushing, showers running, and water rushing through the pipes, which makes for a rough night’s sleep. Every single door that closes, even if it’s at the other end of the hall, will rattle your own door which gets loud.
Rooms: The rooms are very small and get stuffy quickly. Clean, yes, but cramped for the price point. Also just poor quality furniture for what you pay.
Breakfast: Complimentary, but not worth your time. For what you’re paying per night, the quality is disappointing. The staff who is in charge of the breakfast can’t ever keep up and it’s usually burnt with minimal options that aren’t the hot food.
Staff: A mixed bag. Some staff members were wonderful, but others acted like simple questions were an inconvenience. We asked for an extra blanket and were flat-out told “no” with no explanation, which was shocking for a hotel of this brand. Most of them don’t acknowledge you exist and keep their heads in their phones.
General upkeep: The property feels run down. Almost every single night, they were vacuuming the halls at 7:30 p.m., which was just odd. The employee would be vacuuming the halls while scrolling on their phone with no respect for people wanting to unwind and relax during the night time. Overall, it doesn’t feel well managed. The staff is usually just sitting on their phone instead of doing what they’re obviously supposed to be doing.
Amenities & outdoor space: There is some nice seating with fire pits out front, but it’s also the main smoking area. If you’re sensitive to smoke, it’s almost impossible to enjoy.
Lighting: The building and parking lot are poorly lit, making the entrance easy to miss at night and the parking lot uncomfortable after dark.
Overall, while this hotel isn’t the absolute worst, it does not live up to its price tag. There are far better options in Jackson at a similar rate or even less. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel as an option unless it was your last resort. Hopefully they get some better management and can get things put back together.
