Hostal D'Mathias

Had a wonderful stay at D’Mathias! Central location but the rooms are set back from the street so it was lovely and quiet, super comfy beds, everything was immaculately clean from the room to the communal areas. Two well equipped kitchens (best I’ve seen travelling around central and South America for months) and plenty of space to store food and cook. Great rates on the different activities, definitely recommend hiring bikes and giving white water rafting a go. Excellent, friendly, helpful staff. 5 stars all round!

Had a great stay here! Bed was comfortable, had curtains all around, personal light and outlets. Shower was hot although the cold and hot oscillated all the time which made it inconvenient. Place was cleaned every day, optional to get a new towel whenever you want. Kitchen is huge (there are two sets of stoves / sinks), two areas to sit to eat as well. Wifi worked perfectly. The people working there are super friendly, and there are nice (free) conveniences like ponchos and cap for thermal baths to borrow whenever you need it. Conveniently located, super close to the bus station and market. The rafting and canyoning tours are on almost 50% discount compared to any other tour company in town, so is the bike rental (very good bike with very good brakes). Got to meet people while there which was nice. Definitely recommend!

Had a great time at this hostel, it was exceptionally clean, super quiet and calm, while being right next to the bus station and very centrally located. Large kitchen, showers with hot water. They have great deals on discounted tours for rafting, canyoneering, paragliding, bike rentals (bikes were great quality), etc. for anyone staying there. They have a travel agency, Expediciones Amazónicas, which is right down the street from the hostel. Excellent service from the staff who were able to provide great advice on tours, attractions and buses. Really appreciated my stay here.

I highly recommend this hostel! The owner was so lovely and accommodating. They offered super reasonably priced tours and bike hire. There was a good kitchen with the basics like tea, coffee, salt, and pepper. There was also a pool table, board games, and the rooms were clean and neat. It felt like the owner actually had a good understanding of what travelers need and offered a lot of small but important things, like a place for washing and a sewing kit. Thanks so much!

I love the hostel! It's 1 Min walk from the bus terminal, 2 blocks from the main Square and 10min walking from the thermal bath. Next to everything you Need, restaurante, shops, supermarket, Bakery. There are 2 nice big kitchens well furnished, fridge, microwave, space to store your food. They offer anytime free coffee, hot chocolate and different teas. Rooms are big enough, quiet, clean and they make your bed every day! Bathrooms always clean, clean towel with soap and shampoo given every day. The whole team Is absolutely great and Always available to help you with anything! Pamela knows a lot about tours too, they are also a travel agency, the best and cheaper in town! I booked with them rafting and I enjoyed so much! Rented the bike too for 5dollars to go to the waterfalls! Good enough to go but not so great! ANyway for the way back you will get a camioneta so it's okay! I've bene sick and Norma was sooo nice, taking care of me too! Carlos is also a great chill guy! I've stayed here almost 10 days! They have a terrace with pool but accessibile only until 7pm because there are rooms around.. possibility to do your laundry too!
