The City History Museum, also known as Kent Tarihi Muzesi, has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. After suffering damage from a fire in the 1970s, it was meticulously restored and reopened as a museum in 2006. The museum's mission is to collect and preserve various cultural and historical artifacts, documents, visual materials, and recordings that showcase the city's social richness. It offers both temporary and permanent exhibitions based on these valuable resources.

There's a huge UNESCO World Heritage Site by the entrance, yet there is nearly no English text and no audio guides.
Have a look at my pictures to understand how poor the English signage is.

Reviews
The City History Museum in Safranbolu offers a mix of experiences according to visitors. While some found the place lacking in upgrades and engaging activities for children, others appreciated the amazing stories and history it holds. The presence of small cats and huge dogs added a playful element to the visit. A standout feature was an employee who had worked there for 54 years, passionately explaining every detail as if it were his first time. Despite the lack of amenities like coffee or tea, visitors could enjoy panoramic views from above, including sights like the clock tower (saat kulesi). The museum showcases interesting artifacts, old computers, dioramas, and photos documenting its restoration after a fire.

The place has many amazing stories and history but it needs upgrade. So poor and empty also if you have kids it is not recommended they will get boring. There is the clock tower (saat kulesi) and there is a man who were working there for 54 years still saying and explaining every detail like it was his first time, he is amazing and icon himself. Otherwise enjoy the view from up for the city with NO coffee or tea.
