We didn't get to do a really deep dive into the store because we arrived just 10 mins before close. Even though we were trying to sneak in before the bell we were given a warm greeting and assistance with finding the section I was most interested in. There are many popular books on display throughout, but not a lot of the author I was looking for. Chatting with the associate, I let her know the author was becoming popular on social media and she thanked me and said she would take a look into ordering a bit more of him. I'll definitely be back when I have more time really wander. Really nice atmosphere. Great experience. Makes total sense as to why it's so popular.
After watching Hello, Bookstore, I knew I had to make the trip to Lenox—and visiting The Bookstore was like stepping right into the documentary. I even got to meet Matt, and he was exactly as warm, thoughtful, and friendly as he is on screen. Beyond that, Matt and his daughter helped me locate a local out-of-print book from a nearby gift shop! A truly special place that lives up to the story it tells.
Adorable bookstore. Stopped there on our way back from Kirpalu. Well worth the stop and we learned a new joke on the way out. 🤣

Unfortunately, we didn’t have as happy an experience visiting as we had hoped. It was our families first time visiting, my husband has looked forward to it for years after watching the documentary, and we didn’t feel like our young son was very welcomed. It’s important to us that he has fun around books and enjoys settings with books, so we unfortunately wont be visiting again soon. If you don’t have young children then this may still be a good experience for you, however if you have children that are toddler age I would caution against visiting if you want to expose them to positive experiences in book stores. We don’t want to detract others from going, hence still giving a decent star rating, but did want to share for others to be aware.
Really cool place to browse and shop. Eclectic selection of books, local artists are prominent. Wine bar is an excellent addition and fun concept. Worth checking out!
