Try cape may NJ - the beach shack there is a super cute hotel right across from the beach , easy access and I believe it’s a dog friendly

i second cape may!! it’s the most charming beach town, just a short ride on the cape may-lewes ferry (keep your eyes peeled for dolphins if you take it!) very walkable town with tons of good restaurants, shops, and beaches. the mad batter and sunset beach are two musts whenever i’m down there.

Was just in Lewes two weeks ago. We didn't even go to the beach but spent most of a full day at Cape Henelopen State Park. The Gordon Pond trail is nice. Also stop by Fort Miles to see the WWII Barracks and bunkers. You can walk through them and watch a video too. Just walking around the town is nice too. Highly recommend eating at Agave and the Wheelhouse.

I was just in Rehoboth beach this past weekend and the beach was beautiful and there was absolutely no oil anywhere and it was perfect. I think you should be fine in Lewes. Also the beach wasn’t closed and it was actually packed with people.
