For foodies in Dallas, I HIGHLY recommend the Asian Grub in DFDUB (DFW) group!! SOOOO many recommendations on food, I can’t list them all! 💕

Ruby Slipper Cafe and Coterie in New Orleans. But honestly, any place in New Orleans is really good!

I live in or have visited all of those cities you mentioned. In Dallas, the Pecan Lodge in the Deep Elum area is nice for some Texas BBQ. Next to it is Emporium Pies, also an excellent place for well, pies. Check out the Dealey Plaza Museum for some history of the JFK assassination site. You would be remiss to not attend a rodeo and grab yourself a cowboy's ribeye at the Fort Worth Stockyards west of Dallas for a uniquely Texan experience. Austin is great; Congress Ave leading up to the bridge reminds me of the hip hangout spots in Berkeley, CA. Do some research on the "Congress Bridge bats". Parking is limited, but well worth waiting to see the thousands of bats appear at sunset. More to do in Downtown Austin, though I've never been. In San Antonio, there's the Tower of the Americas, the River Walk, and the historical Alamo. I haven't done much in Houston, but there is a Chinatown and the NASA facility if you're interested. Houston should have the most things to check out compared to the rest of Texas, as it is the most developed city there. New Orleans was fun, namely the French Quarter: Jackson Square, Cafe Du Monde for beignets and coffee, Tableau (restaurant), Acme Oyster House (restaurant), and get a picture with the Labranche House. I missed the chance to try some fried alligator during my last trip there. Be careful though, New Orleans is the least safe of your planned cities that I've seen.
