I live in Playa del Carmen, so about diving is better to stay around this area, puerto aventuras, akumal, I think would be easier to move around and have beaches and cenotes closer .... I don’t know about driving from ny to Cancun but I wouldn’t do it, you can always get a car rental when You arrive here

I live in Mexico, driving from NY to Mexico sounds like a lot, but if you have the time it could be fun!
Chiapas is absolutely amazing! You can easily visit Tulum and Cancun! Make sure to check out Bacalar!

Lmao don’t drive through Mexico first of all that is literally like 35+ of driving time maybe closer to 45+ and honestly some areas can be scary. I’ve spent a good amount of time in Mexico and driven and gotten stopped and police tried to get money from me many times. And I speak Spanish. I can’t imagine navigating that if I didn’t speak the language (not sure if you do)
