Suggestions for best spots, stops, and hotels along the way from Madrid to Lisbon?
That will be a fun trip. I recommend making first stop at Toledo. Fabulous fortified city. Then it depends how long you have! Cordoba is also a great area.
We stayed here ...Paula is amazing! We also rented a car from her. She picked us up from the airport. It was so easy . Madeira was beautiful 😍
There are lots of great hikes and sunrise at Pico do Arieiro is a must

Any advice for a female solo traveler traveling to Porto?
You will be fine! I did a solo trip over a month period and drove 5000 miles. Make sure your vehicle is in top shape..have it serviced before the trip. Have snacks, water in the car so if you don't feel like stopping you don't have to. Figure out where you will spend the night and plan to get there before dark. I rarely for nihht driving unless I'm familiar with the area. I also have an emergency kit in my car because I live in California (earthquakes) Most important...have some good tunes and enjoy the surrounding beauty!!!
What are your recommended things to do and islands to visit in Azores?
Only been to Sao Miguel, but it was beautiful!!! Go in July when the hydrangeas are in bloom. They are huge and everywhere! The gardens in Furnas are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Sete Cidades is beautiful. Stayed in hotel converted from convent in Vila Franca do Campo and highly recommend it. Took SATA Air out of Boston. Would also like to make it to Pico and Flores at some point.
