Q&A About Switzerland

Would you recommend visiting both Italy and Switzerland on a ten-day trip, or only visiting one?
I think it depends on how much leisure time you like to spend in certain places. I think Northern Italy and Switzerland in 10 days is perfectly doable! It lets you meander and really take in the views, without overwhelming you.

Any tips for European Viking River Cruise?
I haven’t done Viking, but I did a cruise with Ama Waterways and loved it. I did colors of Provence through France. It was an older crowd for sure, but my friends did the Danube on one of the wine cruise and it was more 30-50 year olds.

Any suggestions on best resorts with family features in Switzerland?
I'm sure you know about the wanderweg's, but in Appenzell we also have Witzweg :D so your hike posts will have jokes in Appenzeller and standard German Now that it's not flocked with tourists, I recommend Oechinensee. Also the town of Amden is so quaint, and has a lot of hikes. If you take the ski lift up, there is a path marked with various kids activity spots

Any recommendations on areas to visit, places to each, and good shops in Switzerland?
I would highly recommend the train up to Jungfraujoch. It’s quite expensive and I was pretty apprehensive about it because of the cost, but I have never one time regretted the decision to do it. If you get lucky, like I did, and get a really clear day, the views are unmatched. There are a lot of really cool things to do at the top as well! That was easily my favorite part of Switzerland. I have attached a picture of me at the top to show the view! P.S. I did this trip in the middle of December. My sister did it in the middle of the summer. Both of us had awesome experiences. So I wouldn’t say that any one season is better than another.

Any recommendation on must-see villages and areas in Switzerland during December?
Swiss here; Zürich is an expensive but nice city. Hopefully this year there will be some Christmas markets. The ones in the city there are really nice. Then it depends if you want to see more the cities or go skiing (or any other winter sports)? For cities I recommend: - Berne (capital city, super charming city center) - Lausanne & Geneva (important world cities with the CERN, Olymic HQ, WHO HQ, etc) they are nice and at the lake side. - Montreux (even a bit further than the two above) at the lake side with one of the greatest Christmas Markets - Lucerne - a MUST see when you are here, so nice! (and situated at a lake- btw these are all different lakes 😅) - Interlaken will surely be mentioned to you, please skip it there is many more nice places just like that.... Mountains for snow and snow sports - in the Zürich Region are some mountain resorts but I dont know them - The Bernese Oberland is just amazing with so many places to go and stay such as: Grindelwald, Hasliberg, Adelboden - or go further east from Zürich to a region called Flims, Laax & Falera (it is 3 villages) beautiful for any kind of mountain activity - Or you go north from Zürich to the canton of Wallis but more precisely to Zermatt to check out our world famous Matterhorn (the village is charming and car free) All the places mentioned above are reachable within 2 hours by train from Zürich. Make sure to book hotels (especially in mountain resorts) well in advance as tourists and Swiss alike love to spend these days in the mountains! 🗻🧀⌚🐮 Hope that helps

Any recommendations on winter outdoor activities in Austria, Switzerland, and Norway?
My two all time favorite winter vacations have been Alaska and Poland! Specifically Krakow, Poland. It was amazing around Christmas. HTTPS://shetravels.co/ultimate-krakow-travel-guide
