Look up https://www.hiusa.org/find-hostels#california ! I did a trip all throughout that area and stayed in them. I met people traveling the same way i was, traded park passes, met back up and it was cheap!

They are both amazing spots ! You can do both in a week! The drive isn’t that far . If you pick just one I’d say Yosemite because at some point they talk about closing it to the public to preserve it. Flip side , you’d have lots more activities to do in Tahoe other than hiking .

Basecamp Pizza is awesome. Get there early if there on a Friday or Saturday night. If you drink beer, there's a great selection. You definitely won't be disappointed. For non pizza, go to The Lucky Beaver, great hamburgers.

South shore party side. North shore more home and cabins. There are trails all over. Keep in mind 1/2 is in CA other 1/2 in Nevada. You can look up places to rent anything to get on the lake at any side.

Lake Tahoe truly is this beautiful. Make sure you have reservations or you'll never get your vehicle into the lot near the water. Have fun!

If there's a good chance that your group will be loud after 10pm, do not rent a house in South Lake Tahoe. They are very strict with their noise ordinance.
