Lovely place to visit if you are interested in historical Russian architecture and ethnography. Visited with my kids and they were really excited. The area is quite big and has various types of buildings to explore.

Save your precious time and money, almost 80% things are closed due to construction work. I still decided to go, really beautiful place. Can easily reach via Bus No. 7 (use 2GIS app for bus routes and timings).

This is a definite must go if you are in the town of Veliky Novgorod. This outdoor museum provides a pretty good flavour of how Russian houses and buildings in the countryside used to look like in the past. It was also a very pleasant surprise to find out that we could enter the buildings and poke around at the various recreated scenes. Only giving it a 4 stars because two thirds of the museum was closed for restoration when I visited

It's nice but there is not that much to see, if you go then also visit the cathedral and the lake near by

Absolutely amazing, the level of detail in this monument is incredible, a breathtaking piece of art, the design represents the main historical characters and events in russian history.

Some trivia for visitors... St Sophia is the intelligence agency's official church! Operatives pray beneath a fresco of the warrior saints Alexander Nevsky and Dmitry Donskoi, renowned for their victories over foreign invaders.

A small man's monastery. On the territory there is the St. George's Cathedral built in 1127. Inside the walls are partially restored. Still, many restoration works are needed. As such, there is no altar. In the Cathedral it is very cold and sunny, regardless of the season

Fantastic place. True part of history. This is the oldest church in Russia. Dating back 1119. So glad that it has been kept since. Was great to see.

Medieaval monastery with frescoes. Wonderful bishop and very friendly atmosphere.

Interesting old monastery located near Novgorod, the monastery is part of the UNESCO Russian heritage! I suggest to reach it by taxi or renting a car. Their local bakery makes really cheap but tasty pastries!
