Fantastic day out at the diesel gala! £35 for a day run about having loads of fun hopping on and off trains all day. For me I loved the 37's and the Deltic. And it also restored my faith in the class 14's "teddy bear" after a break down with one when I was at dean forest. 🙄)
Brilliant preserved railway line. Both steam & diesel locomotives running today. Enthusiastic staff. Beautiful buildings at all the stations we visited. Museum fascinating & informative. gluten free cake in the station cafe at Loughborough a bonus. Only thing that could have been improved was no availability of cappuccino & Latte. Potential trick missed there for earnings for the railway, a lot of people don't like filter & will pay for good coffee.
I visited the GC railway for their autumn gala and had a great time. As well as their own fleet of locos they also had a few visiting ones. I also went on a very informative tour of their reunification location.
Absolute great place for a Sunday morning trip out and always friendly staff and helpfull. Galas are brillent aswell just wish they blast the steam whistles a bit more. Great trip for anyone who wants a lovely day
This was a trip for Fine Dining The food was excellent We were instructed the evening started at 18.30 with canapés and a drink prior to boarding the train, we were advised to be there 1/2 hr prior to 18.30 Ww were not guided anywhere for canapés and a drink prior to boarding tge train, by the time we left the station at approx 1915 it waa dark, at tge turn round of the steam engine we were able to alight the train and view the change around. We boarded the train once again then about half way through the return journey we stopped and sat there for at least 10 mins (no idea why) Probably more fun during daylight
I booked the sunday roast for 2 for my husbands 60th birthday. What an honour and privalage to experience a 5 star beautiful 3 course meal on board first class carage steam train. The food staff and service was Amazing 🍾🥂A Truly beautiful memory we will Never forget 💕Highly reccommend not forgetting the beautiful station Truly Amazing⚘⚘
What an absolutely beautiful railway. Every station is perfectly presented and the volunteers that run it could not be more welcoming. The stations have been set up to represent bygone times from the early 1900's to the end of steam in the 50's/60's... With tea rooms at each station and on train buffets you will never be short of refreshments. This was my first visit to GCR, it won't be my last. Top work. Thanks.
Had a fabulous cream tea and steam train experience, even had chance to go onto the footplate. Lovely journey which brought back very fond memories

Beautiful place. I felt fresh and invigorated after the climb, which wasn't too hard. The landscape was relaxing, and we met cows, yaks and llamas. The toilets are at the top of the hill. The café is down in the lower car park. Beacon Hill is next to Bradgate Park. It won't take you more than two hours to do the whole route, taking your time. We parked the car at the top of the hill, then followed the route down to the bottom, there's a maze on the right, a play area on the left, then back up again following the route where you'll meet animals.
Beautiful vistas at a great country park. With the views, the rocks, the woodland paths, and the alpacas along the way, there is something for everyone. There are restrooms in the parking lot, and parking is reasonably priced. It is unquestionably worthwhile to visit. I will definitely come back.
Beacon Hill is a truly stunning park and a must-visit for anyone in the Loughborough area. The trails are well-maintained, making for a pleasant walk, and the natural scenery is simply gorgeous. It's an excellent spot for a family outing or a peaceful solo hike. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, and it's especially magical during sunset. The way the light hits the landscape creates an unforgettable scene. The park feels well-loved and cared for, and it's clear a lot of effort goes into its upkeep. Whether you're looking to enjoy a leisurely stroll, take in some incredible views, or watch a beautiful sunset, Beacon Hill delivers. I highly recommend it!
Visited here for the Saturday 9am parkrun. Parking is take a ticket on entry and loads of spaces, only £2 for parking for a couple of hours. The run itself is well managed and not a huge crowd, so plenty of space. Road shoes were fine in good weather, majority of the paths are gravel. It's very much uphill for the first half, but a pleasant run back down.
Absolute gem of a place. Lovely to either walk or run in the beautiful environment. Once you get to the Hill, you’re rewarded with a breathtaking view. You can see as far as Nottingham and Derby. From the lower car park it’s 40 min walk to the Hill. There’s also upper car park which is about 10 mins walk. Car park is £5 for 3 hours or more. There’s also a play area for the kids. Cafe located at entrance as well as very clean and tidy toilets. I would highly recommend it.
Really nice place to visit. Yes you pay to park but if it's helps with the upkeep then cool.
Always a great place to visit. Sunsets are beautiful to see up there. Solstice is a must. The rocks are of Geological importance. Great views. Don't be surprised to see very long horned cows. They live there. They are a very placid breed. Very photogenic. Dogs on leads. There's a few different paths down to the lower ground. It's a nice walk down but seems very steep on the way back up. Deepening on your fitness level.
Super place for walks of any length - the paths are good and it's easy to make loops. Horse riding is permitted on some of the tracks. There are rare breed cows, alpacas and sheep grazing at various times. Also good for bird spotting. The two carparks are large and a season ticket for frequent visitors can be obtained online. There is a really good café at the Lower carpark.

A lovely farm park. We had a great day! The animal experiences are inexpensive, but unfortunately, we didn't book one this time. We definitely will do next time we go. The indoor play barn was great, as were all of the outdoor play areas. The dinosaur trail was good fun. The cafe was nice, will try the restaurant cafe next time. All in all, a great day out for adults and children.
A lovely farm with cafe, good play barn, nice woods and playground. I came here with my wife and 10-month old on a very windy day. The entrance, gift shop, and cafe were great. Good choice of souvenirs, nice cafe, great atmosphere. The service of our drinks was perhaps a little slow. Outside there's a fun looking playground and then it's to to the animals. This is no zoo - there are only tame farmyard animals. Goats, tortoises, guinea pigs, cows, snakes, etc. Generally the animal enclosures looked clean and well kept. Animals seemed happy. However, some of the enclosures were quite small and plenty of them were empty. Regarding shows, there was a schedule as we came in. But some of them were cancelled on our visiting day as it was so windy. The play barn is cracking for all ages. Drop slides, a foam-ball shoot-out, a pirate zone, a medieval zone. We only used the under-four area, but even that was quite good. There was also a dinosaur trail through the woods, and a large adventure playground, down at the far end of the farm. These were excellent, though I question the wisdom of allowing them to remain open during the high winds on our visitation day. After seeing a few sizable branches fall into the playground space, we soon left and advised staff, who were like "oh. Oh yeah. It is windy. Maybe it should be closed" like they had no process for windy days, or no common sense. Also worth noting there is no refund policy at all here. This feels unnecessarily exploitative and cruel - Doesn't show a good attitude towards customers. Overall a good experience and worth a visit. We will likely be back.
We had a good day at the Farm. My girls absolutely loved the wizarding experience. We went when it was the first day of witchcraft & wizardry school. It was a short engaging trail and kids absolutely loved it. We also enjoyed seeing the small selection of animals, all the birds; especially the variety of owls, although they looked so lonely in their cages. The pumpkin carving was another highlight. The lady running it was lovely and so helpful, especially since it was our first time doing it. The indoor play area was amazing, with lots of different sections to explore. It’s nice that they have different areas so it never felt too crowded. The tricycles/Go-kart in the racing track are dated and not working properly. The only downside was the flying demonstration. We literally ran to get there and were just a few feet away when the demonstrator closed the gate right in front of us. My kids were really disappointed, as they were excited to see it. It would have been nice if they’d let us in since we were right there. After this disappointment, my girls didn’t want to explore any further so we couldn’t do the dino trail. Overall though, it was a good experience.
We arrived and were told the prices were more face to face than online, charged for a 9 month old baby whom was in a pram, overall for the baby, a child and two adults it was £47. there was no animals out in the petting zoo and the parrot had been removed completely, the tortoise enclosure was extremely small, the biggest tortoise was alone in its enclosure and was just walking around in circles, ramming against the side trying to get out and was clearly distressed, some of the bird/owl cages were reasonable sizes however that varied. The cows, alpacas and lamas all had a sensible amount of space and seemed okay in themselves. In my opinion the food was extremely overpriced for the quality but i guess that depends on your situation. The animals were clearly well fed as-well as possible over fed as some did come across as overweight, all the experiences that were supposed to be on at certain times did not happen and there was do not feed signs on nearly every animal paddock/enclosure after spending £3 for two small feed bags. Overall i think it depends on what your looking for or your idea of fun.
Loads of fun for all ages. Large variety of both exotic and farmyard animals. Large play areas for the kids, woodland dinosaur walk, birds of pray area including demonstrations. Great selection of beautiful owls. Epic softplay area (huge slides, compressed air softball blasters, todler area, baby area, pirate themed zone) with a well stocked cafe and plenty of seating. Seasonal events, birthday parties. Donkeys, llamas, pigs, deer, cows, ducks, chickens, wallabies, snakes, rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, lizards, vultures, eagles and like 20 types of owl. Exit through the gift shop.
Their new birds of prey addition is absolutely fantastic. There are only dedicated falconry centres locally and there are no farms with birds of prey nearby so Manor Farm Park is very unique. The birds and owls are beautiful and amazing and the display with the Caracara was very entertaining thanks to the very mischievous bird. They also have a magnificent Golden Eagle, a Black Kite, Vulture, Lanner, Gyr/Lanner cross, a pair of Harris Hawks and a Common and cute little American Kestrel. There are a range of beautiful owls too including the huge Eagle Owl. If you like birds of prey I highly recommend you visit.
absolutley lovely really fun day out softplay cafe restaurant barn with pumpkins which looks beautiful woods with halloween theme dinasoar area play areas picnic sheds well set out in lovely countryside
First time visiting Manor Farm Park. A super place with a diverse range of animals and activities. We bought tickets online for the Halloween 🎃 event which was so lovely and so much hard work had been undertaken by the staff to provide a fabulous experience for our children. Also purchased a voucher which amazingly cost only £1 for the children to hold a bird of prey!! Highly recommend this day out!

Absolutely superb museum for its size. We spent at least an hour here. With the grand children. Well worth a visit. The cafe is also very nice.
A nice and unusual setting for the museum in the park. Gives you insight on how things were around the area in times gone by.
It's a super nice museum, good especially for children to learn and improve knowledge about history!
Love the museum, it's very informative and still love to walk around looking at all things from yesteryear's of days gone by . And it's so relaxed in there . So don't feel hurried . I must say the toilets in there are very clean . But didn't expect the guy behind the counter to be in there checking them as I came out from using them . Out of respect just knock the door first before you walk in . As we went in late and there was plenty of time and hardly any people in the museum at the time . Other than that I enjoyed my visit ..
Literally jam-packed museum with lots to see and do, full of interactive exhibits and a variety of local information and artefacts.

Lovely museum. Highly recommended. Free admission. Nice and welcoming staff members. Nice little cafe for a quick drink or bite to eat. Lots of facts and history. Great for kids. Very child friendly.

Lovely little park, beautiful flowers.. very well maintained and nice place to take the kids out after bit of shopping in the local market
A great place to relax on vacation Although the park is not big But it offers a lot more attractions than other British parks Can bring fun and satisfaction to tourists Except for the most famous tower in the middle It also has a small lake Birds often stay in the lake to rest The scenery is very pleasant There are also many very cute squirrels walking around here There is also a Bell that has been used before Introduced the previous history here But relatively The lack of space and the overcrowded parrots seem very cruel to watch... Many parrots are constantly chewing off their feathers because they are trapped here. They have to live in this poorly lit and crowded space I really don’t recommend it... Other than that, overall this park is very comfortable.
This is a lovely open space for people in the centre of Loughborough. The gardens are well tended and many people were spending time there when I visited. The tower is impressive, the exhibition was open I enjoyed finding out about the memorial.
Lovely oasis just off the town centre. Small museum to have a look round, winding paths around the park that pass bright flower beds. There is a waterway that runs through the park, we have seen some quite large fish swimming in it, although not the last time we went. The bandstand in the centre has a good few musical events during the year, and of course the bell tower exhibit is well worth a view. Play areas for the little ones, grass to sit on, benches dotted around, and now an exercise area. Great place to spend a while at any time of the year
Lovely park, really well maintained. Great place to spend some time.
Not too large but filled with excitement and beautifuly maintained. We've spent an hour by the aviary.
Lovely park, beautiful flower displays, water features, aviary, sculptures, new covid monument - Good way to spend some of your time in Loughborough!
Queens park is the main park in the centre of Loughborough. It has recently seen refurbishments and resurfacing. The new bell tower is very sleek. The museum in the corner of the park is a win for kids. There is a huge play park on the opposite side also. Parking in Granby st car park makes it a short walk. There is also an aviary and AA great cafe at the museum. There is also a band stand which sees performances in the summer and the Carillon Tower. The one downside is that the toilets are always gross and out of order. We went at the weekend and two were out of order and the other spat the money back out. Such a shame for a lovely park.
