Incredible place to come spend a couple of hours learning about the 3 civilizations that lived in the area 2000 years ago. Small paid parking lot or you can take a long walk from town. Starts off near the parking lot before you go into the paid area with the arch that you can see starts the road into the old town. Get tickets at the reception center/gifts shop and opens up to an awesome area of ruins. Take the trail to the left first and it will loop back. We got the handheld speaker to help explain a bit more and it was definitely worth the 3€ for our small group. However, there’s a lot of good info posted around the ruins in French, English, and Spanish if you don’t want to pay for the speaker. Make sure to hit the viewpoint at the end of the route that comes back down to the trail back to the start. Good for the kids, especially the ones with an interest in Roman history. There is also a little cafe inside the area and picnic area out front.

Great site and much larger than expected. You can get a real understanding of Roman life from the ruins and printed leaflet (in English). Worth spending an hour or so on site visiting. You might be able to park outside the Saint Paul de Maisole hospital for free (as the car parking opposite is expensive).

A good set of Roman ruins with a nice visitors' center. Not as spectacular as others you can find, but still very interesting. A nice add on to a visit to St. Remy.

Easy access and plenty of nearby parking, there is a short walk to the ticket office and gift shop. There is a restaurant ready to take your order and provide an amazing picnic. Don't forget to bring your blanket this place is very relaxing with exceptional breezes and plenty of sun.

We enjoyed visiting this ancient site and eating lunch in the cafe there.

Loved our visit to Glanum. Visitor center is well maintained & staffed with knowledgeable people. We got the audio guide which explains everything you’ll see with clarity. Fascinating place, well worth the stop for a couple of hours.

Very interesting to see where he created some of his best and most memorable work. Impressive to walk through the house, spaces and gardens that inspired him to paint his work. The house is nicely set, giving you a good idea of the spaced he resided in. 9 euros for entry, free for kids under 12. One feedback is that they brochure/info can be improved, they just give you a printed paper as information.

Fascinating insights into Van Goghs mental decline. I found the museum very moving and peaceful. It’s an interesting site showcasing the support given to mental patients in the nineteenth century. Allow an hour for your visit and you can walk up to the Glanum Roman site after if you wish.

This was a very interesting experience. You get to see the main rooms of the former asylum, the doctors offices, the sisters / nuns, some common areas and Vincent Van Gogh's bedroom. They're is also the cam we're people were locked up when deemed "problematic", the bath room (equally as daunting) and also the cloister and gardens. Now, the parking was very limited but there is a paid lot nearby. There are only stairs to the upper floors so not accessible by wheelchair.

Phenomenal place, with lots of interesting information and facts about Van Gogh and his work. Highly recommend to anyone who is a fan of his work and who wants to see the places that inspired Van Gogh the most in his best paintings. It was incredible to look into the studio where he painted and to walk around the grounds and gardens that inspired his most famous paintings.

MUST for van Gogh fans! A working rehabilitation house with paintings from actual patients are as impressive the copies of Van Gogh's strumming about the space. Beautiful, peaceful, and somewhat haunting.

We decided to head to Van Gogh’s asylum late in the day and arrived shortly before it closed at 1800/6:00pm. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I can tell you honestly, what we say was a lot better. I had no idea how many of his seminal works came from his time in St. Remy! Walking around and seeing the vantage points from where he painted the masterworks you’ve seen forever was pretty special. On the other hand, some of the things they did to those people in the asylum were pretty barbaric. We followed the paper guide that was provided and it told a great story. We took 45-60 minutes to wander around and see what we could see. We took loads of pictures and used our imagination. Something we learned on at the end of the tour was the asylum still hosts people in need of help. Obviously in a modern facility across the property, but they use the same art therapy that they used during Van Gogh’s stay. I recommend a visit, but remember, it’s not flashy, it’s just a special place that will move you.

Excellent expedition gives a real insight into the man himself, he's background character and unquestionable talent. Brings the whole story to life seeing where some of his famous paintings were based on. Highly recommend.

The Wednesday market at Saint Remy is a must visit. It offers a wide array of high quality fresh produce, cold cuts, excellent cheeses, pickled olives etc. besides all kinds of clothing & shoes. There are several antique shops selling silver and other adornments. Cannot return empty handed.

I stopped off here quickly whilst doing the Van Gogh walk, I didn't have time to look at the main ruins (which I regret). I just had time to take in the two structures near the carpark. Very interesting, I loved the Bad Relief panels and the close access you could get to these Roman ruins

Les Antiques are historical monuments marking the entrance to Glanum. The Jules Mausoleum dates back to 30-20 BC. The Triumphal Arch dates from 20 AD but most of its upper part has disappeared. It was formerly the entrance to the city of Glanum. The Jules Mausoleum was erected by the Julii (one of the major Roman families), in honour of their father and grandfather. It is particularly well preserved. It has a rectangular base with four sculpted fasciae, it is surmounted by a triumphal arch, on top of which ukulele have a small round temple with columns and a pyramidal roof; this temple houses the effigies of the two people to whom this exceptional monument is dedicated. The Triumphal Arch was restored in the 18th century, when its roof was replaced with slate stone. It is adorned with reliefs illustrating Caesar's conquest of the Gauls. However, the fruit and foliage, symbols of abundance, suggest the benefits of pax romana.

7 euros for parking for the whole day, was not possible to pay per hour. There is a cafe inside, but not possible to enter without a valid ticket. Photos are made in a "free" area.

A little hard to read the signs as they have been weathered down and have become a little hard to decipher, however this is a magnificent site which I highly recommend to anybody who likes history even a little. It's along the Via Domitia which is the oldest road in France and it is impeccably preserved.

Some bedrock Roman ruins, a triumphal arch and a tower, free to see but parking costs money, walk over the roof to see the ruins of glanum!

Visited twice. Fascinating about the history of teasels and how there was a whole industry in the region in the C18 and C19 as they were used for carding wool. Some are still used. Plus other interesting exhibits on the flora of the region and local landscape. Mostly in French, with some English translations if you want them.

When we visited they gave us a lot of good information and a nice map to help us find the Van Gogh related sites, especially an avenue with explanations of his artwork in the areas where they were created. We were pleased with their friendly service.

Excellent and friendly service. I belatedly discovered that my rental car agency required a hard copy of my voucher and would not accept a digital version. Since it was a Saturday, the few copy centers in town were closed and I had to pick up the car in Avignon the next morning. We visited the office on a Thursday at 2.30pm and its unexpectedly closed. I realise it’s not peak holiday season, however it’s not low season. 3 other couples visited at the same time.

Very helpful staff. Lots of information available. There is a car park here and it is only a 5 min walk into the village centre.
